Applying columns to multiple playlists

I've searched hi and low, but no luck. Is there a way to apply columns views to multiple playlists? I want to add certain columns to all my playlists (i.e. Track #) without doing it one by one.
Any ideas?
Bob

Catherine, you probably have the "Primary Only" flag enabled. Press the framed litte "1" button to disable it. This flag will cause the keywords only to be applied to the current selection. Then the Keywords Controls should work as you want.
See my user Tip here:                   Keywords or ratings are applied only to one of the selected images - why?
What is the recommended way of applying keywords to multiple images at once?
The Keyword Controls are fine, also dragging keywords from the Keywords HUD directly onto a selection or Batch Changing.

  • Applying Column Headings to ALL PLAYLISTS???

Hello... I know how to customize the columns in a playlist by ctrl-click & in the 'view options' window. HOW CAN I APPLY the same COLUMN HEADINGS to ALL playlists I have???

HOW CAN I APPLY the same COLUMN HEADINGS to ALL playlists I have???
    Unfortunately you can't.
The script Assimilate View Options can apply the View Options of the library to your 'normal' playlists.
This does not work for Smart Playlists however.

  • Synchronizing music that appears in multiple playlists.

I just got my new iPhone 3G today, so please forgive me if this is a really basic question
I'm wondering if the iTunes sync software is smart enough to not duplicate songs that are sync'd to the phone. In other words, I have selected multiple playlists to have it sync to my iPhone. If a song appears in multiple playlists, is it going to copy the song file multiple times to the phone, or will it copy it only once and have it appear in the iPhone music library in each relevant playlist?
I'm sure it's the same as iTunes where it doesn't duplicate, but I just want to make sure. My 16GB aren't going to go far
    dt

It is the same on your iPhone as with iTunes on your computer.
A song cannot be in a playlist unless the song is in your iTunes library. Placing a song in a playlist does not duplicate or copy the song. The playlist includes a pointer only to the song in your iTunes library. The same applies on your iPhone. A song can be in multiple playlists, but the song is not copied for each playlist. There is only one copy of the song on your iPhone even though the song is available in more than one playlist.

  • Applying SUBTOTAL to multiple condition SUMPRODUCT

    Hi
I have created the following formula which works:
    =SUMPRODUCT(--($AG$10:$AG$1999<>0),$U$10:$U$1999/SUMIF($AG$10:$AG$1999,"<>"&0,$U$10:$U$1999),$X$10:X$1999)
Column AG is a "type" filter where I've assigned 0 values to data I need to ignore when doing my sumproduct, U is my values column so the values I want to sumproduct with column X which is my return column. So this works fine to ignore my blank
types and sumproduct the remaining values and returns to give me a total.
However I'd like to extend this so that when I put a filter on my data the forumla holds.
I've previously used the following for subtotals
    =SUMPRODUCT(X9:X1999,SUBTOTAL(109,OFFSET($U$9,ROW($U$9:$U$1999)-ROW($U$9),,1))/$U$7)
but this doesn't account for the fact that I need to strip out the types that are blank which I do in the above via: --($AG$10:$AG$1999<>0)
Is there anyway to combine these two forumlae???
I'm trying to build the spreadsheet to be robust enough for new data to be pasted into cells A9:AG1999 each month and the required metrics pop out at the top so that others can use without having to update pivots etc. I need it dummy proofed so all they
do is paste in new data and the forumulae do the rest!
Any help would be greatly appreciated :O)  Happy to provide more detail if the above isn't clear!

    Try:
    =SUMPRODUCT(X$9:X$5129,SUBTOTAL(109,OFFSET($U$9,ROW($U$9:$U$5129)-ROW($U$9),,1))/SUMPRODUCT(SUBTOTAL(109,OFFSET($U$9,ROW($U$9:$U$5129)-ROW($U$9),,1)),--($AG$9:$AG$5129<>0)),--($AG$9:$AG$5129<>0))

  • How do i delete multiple playlists created on iphone?

I have a real mess.  My wife (on her iPhone 4) chose to "add a playlist" in her music app.  She did.  We have iTunes Match set up on our Mac and all iPhone and iPad devices (4 iPhones and 3 iPads).  Somehow the playlist cloned itself.  I know have over 16,000 playlists all the same name, with nothing in them.  It has basically locked up the music app on phones.
I cannot delete them on my iTunes on Mac.  I have tried, delete & dragging to trash.  They will not delete.  I cannot choose multiples either.
Does anyone know how to help?

    I have this issue too.
Why is iTunes less useful than it was?
for instance, I cant highlight and delete multiple playlists.  I can't see a "list" view of albums, stuck looking at artwork.
when you have a large library, this is unhelpful.

  • Multiple playlists with the same song but don't want duplicates on the iPhone

I have many playlists to organize my music and many songs end up in multiple playlists. I want to have these playlists in my phone but do not want duplicate songs taking up space on the phone. How do I do this?
To be more detailed, I am a musicain and I keep playists of the songs I need to know for different bands that I'm in and often times there are songs that multiple bands require me to know. Also, I have DJ playists that again, will utilize the same song. These are two examples of how one song can be in multiple playlists. I really need these playlists in my phone but I can't have  some Beatles song four or five times in my phone. Isn't there a way to import a playlist as a pointer or locator to metadata so the playlist, once imported, just parses through the existing songs on my phone and generates the playist? This seem like it would be a fairly simple thing for Apple to do, no?
    Thanks!

Hi, Damon M., and thanks for answering me!
So my Playlists and Smart Playlists are only made up of music (plus four or five music videos that don't represent a lot of space), no Audiobooks and no TV Shows.
When I click on my Music folder, it says I have 4.12GB on the bottom (including the Music videos).
Since I don't sync anything else on my 8GB iPhone but this 4.12GB of music, reorganized in Playlists, I don't see why I get a box saying I need 12GB to fit everything in.
So what I do now is manually sync my music, which on my iPhone takes up about 4GB. But I want my Playlists too...
It's as soon as I want to sync on my Playlists that everything goes wrong.
So... do you have any more suggestions/ideas?
    Thanks,
    Vincent

  • Sync music to multiple playlists in iPod Shuffle

    iPod Shuffle 3rd Gen
I have created 2 playlists under music in the iPod Shuffle. I can't find a way to sync songs with a certain playlist. I can only sync it at the top level Music.
I don't want to have to copy all the songs to music and then select songs to sync with 2nd playlist. Is there any way around this?
    Thanks in advance.

You can have one playlist on it, it a manner of speaking. There is no way to put multiple playlists on it and jump between them, if that is what you are trying to do.

  • How to delete multiple playlists from itunes

how to delete multiple playlists from itunes?

Have you subscribed to iTunes Match? There is a bug that can sometimes create hundreds of duplicate empty playlists. I've two scripts which might help you clean up: KillEmptyPlaylists and KillTopLevelPlaylists. This post describes a technique for resetting iTunes Match to stop it happening again.

  • How can I batch change the view options of multiple playlists?

I would like to select multiple playlists and batch change their view options; seems like an obvious feature that should be there, but it does not seem to be there. I know of Assimilate View Options v2.2 in Doug's AppleScripts, but this is not what I want, since AWO requires you to do the change playlist by playlist, i.e., not in batch mode (and I have hundreds of playlists ...). Any idea? Please answer privately at [email protected] since I do not read this forum regularly. Thanks in advance for your help!

did you also check out the following script ?

This application will allow you to invoke hidden iTunes preferences:
    Show "Library" playlist
    *Changing view setting is global*
    Allow half-stars in ratings
    Hide "Ping" buttons
Show/hide arrow links -- to either search the iTunes Store or search your library
Load complete iTunes Store preview before playing
Create playlists for purchased song collections
Play songs while importing or converting
Create file names with track number
Maintain grid view for Search results

  • Can You Play Multiple Playlists Without User Intervention

Can you stack and play multiple playlists? ie if you had three playlists of 50 songs each, could you pick all three, play all the songs in the first playlist, when it is finished move automatically to the second playlist play its songs then automatically move to the third without user intervention? And if so, can you play each of these in shuffle mode?

There's no "impromptu" method of doing so that I know of.
As far as un-impromptu methods (it's always fun inventing words), it will depend on whether you want to listen to this mega-playlist on an iPod or just with iTunes.
If it's just with iTunes, you can go to the File menu > New Folder command and create a new folder which we can call the Mega-Playlist folder. Drag the three playlists in question into that folder. When you select that folder and press Play, iTunes should go through all the songs.
If it's on an iPod, since Folders don't transfer over from iTunes, the only solution I know of would be to create a Smart Playlist with iTunes that will -
Match any of the following rules:
Playlist is the first playlist +
Playlist is the second playlist +
    Playlist is the third playlist.
Synching this mega-playlist to your iPod will allow you to select it from the Playlist menu.
Shuffle mode would shuffle songs from all three playlists together, not shuffle songs from the first playlist before moving on to shuffling songs from the second playlist before shuffling songs from the third playlist.

My wife's ipod nano was plugged into the machine overnight.
When she went running with it, there were no songs on it.  She checked the computer and was horrified to see that the playlists had disappeared and most of the songs had disappeared.

  • Indexing multiple columns in multiple tables

I have a multiple tables in which I want to search. I need to do text search that supports fuzzy logic for which I've currently set up a context index using the user_datastore. I also need to search columns such as numbers/dates/timestamps which from what I understand is not supported with the context search. I'm looking at setting up a second index of type ctxcat for this purpose - but I will need to index multiple columns in multiple tables. Is this possible?
Can someone advise on the best way to create indexes and search when a table schema such as the following exists. I've tried to keep it simple by just giving a few example columns and tables.
    Order Table
    - Has columns related to the order details - order name (varchar2), description (varchar2), date order placed (timestamp), date order completed (date), order amount (number), customer Id
    Customer Table
    - Has columns related to the customer information - customer name, address, city, state, telephone etc (all varchar2 fields)
    Items Table
    - Has details about the items being ordered - item name (varchar2), item description (varchar2), cost (number) etc
    Order-Item Table
    - Table that maps an order to the items in that order - orderId, itemId, quantity
    Comments Table
    - Logs any comments with the customer - comment description (varchar2), call type (varchar2), comment date (timestamp)
Currently with the Context index, I have it set up so I can search all text columns in all tables for a search term. This works fine.
I now need to be able to do more advanced searches, where I can search for a specific text in all orders as well as orders created after a certain date or orders above a certain amount or orders with a item quantity purchase of more that 10. The text has to be searched across the all text columns in all tables. How can I achieve this with Oracle Text?

  • Applying changes to multiple images . . .

i'm relatively new to macs but i've been using aperture comfortably for the past few months.
having just returned from a long photography trip and upgrading aperture to 1.5.1, i'm finding that i am unable to apply changes to multiple images like i used to, such as: selecting multiple images to rotate or selecting multiple images to apply the "stamp."
when i try to "shift-select" multiple images, the change i'm trying to apply affects only the last image clicked-on in the "shift-select" grouping. does that make sense?
    has anyone else encountered this?

You most likely have the Primary Only option turned on. Turn off that option in the Control Bar.

  • Open multiple playlist windows?

It doesn't seem that I can open multiple playlist windows in version 11. I'm a massage therapist and broadcast, via the Griffin Rocket, my music to all the radios in the house. I chose different playlists for different clients and need to switch playlists for different clients which I could do easily by having multiple iTunes windows open.
Now I can't? I just used to click on the playlist icon, and a new iTunes window would open.
    Paul

There is one way that I have found to open up two windows - but only two windows, and it's extremely limited functionality.
In the iTunes "Window" menu, just check "Mini Player" (if you're currently in the full iTunes window) or check "iTunes" if you're currently in the miniplayer. Do NOT click "Switch to MiniPlayer"
That opens up  second window, so you have both the full window and the miniplayer open. Which still stinks, but you can use the "search" tool in the miniplayer to at least partially browse around and minipulate music (using the pop up menus) while referring to playlists etc. in the main window.
Very dissatisfying, but at least it's something.

  • Performance of update query for single column vs multiple column

    Hi All,
I could not find any answer for this, does it ever matter in terms of performance updating single column versus multiple column in a single update query.
For eg. table consisting of 15 columns, what would be the difference in performance when one column is update in the single query against another update query where 15 columns are updated.
Please do keep in mind my table columns in actually could be around 150+.
    Thanks for any information provided.

If updated columns aren´t on where clause , then the only impact of 15 columns will be a increase on redo generation, and a possible chainning row.
So since the redo is one of the things that have a large impact, the answer is yes.
    The performance will be slower.
