Applying different b/w point operations to same plate

I have several shots in a project that have composited TV feeds burned into television screens.
these are log 10bit Prores files.
The burn in element and the BG element have different black and white points.
To color correct these shots properly i need to apply different black and white point operations to the portion of the plate that is the screen and the surrounding BG environment.
I am a first time Color user and this does not seem like something that Color is able to do.
Am I missing something?
At first glance it seems that the secondaries room would be able to accomplish this, but the geometry I can use in the secondaries room only seems to mask off operations I do with the high mids and lows color wheels---not the luma, sat and hue curves.
If i want to isolate a luma operation in the secondaries room I can only isolate it via a color key--which just will not work for these shots.
Any ideas?

No, I concur that Curve corrections behave quite differently. I don't use them at all. They seem to be mostly suited to a Photoshop approach, and are a boon to the stylus/mouse interface. But otherwise, not my first choice for a couple of reasons. The entire scale is being re-mapped with control points, which can accelerate banding. They used to be incredibly noisy and are still not keyframe-able -- so if you ever need to do something like that, you'll be locked out of the game.
I believe the difficulty you're encountering is that the 'mids' adjustment doesn't, and can't achieve the same gamma coefficient as the custom characteristic that you're feeding in by using the luma curves. Its something we could do in Power Windows with daVinci, but the implementation in FinalTouch/COLOR doesn't allow for a customized gamma transfer characteristic within secondaries. There is a custom curve available in the COLORFX room.... but the catch there is that there is no access to the user shape vignette. You might have to back up a step and correct the plates separately and re-composite them. Why wouldn't you keep the SHAKE work, or is there a contextual reason for trying to re-invent this particular wheel in COLOR?

  • How to apply different styles to Portlets on the same Portal page?

    How do you apply different styles to Portlets on the same Portal page?
    I'm new to this kind of thing, but understand that something called "cascading style sheets" can help here?
    What are these, how do you use them, and can you make different Portlets (all types - PL/SQL, Java, Applications, etc) on the same Portal page have different styles assigned?
    Thanks!

    Jeff,
    Apply Oracle Portal styles at the region level. Your portlets within each region will inherit the style defined for the region.
    You may want to check out Report #40050 at portalcenter.oracle.com, "Design an Attractive and Compelling Portal Interface" for a good overview of the various design features of Oracle Portal.

  • Two different WCS instances, pointing to the same database

    Hi,
    for some unknown reason that came from the architecture fellows, I need to install 02 instances of WCS pointing to the same database server. I mean, both instances would need to "share" the database. They don't want a cluster schema because they need to have the option to deploy the app in one instance and, if wverything is ok, deploy to the remaining instance.
    Do you know if such architecture is possible? I did the installation of one instance(instance A), but when trying to install the instance B referring to A's database, I get a ton of errors.
    Any advice is much appreciated.

    Hi,
    This is not the way Sites has been designed. Each instance should have their own schema and repository unless the two instances work as a Sites cluster.
    So what you're trying to achieve is not possible using your approach. What I could suggest is to install two separate instances on its own, create the necessary data model, asset configurations, templates, etc. in one instance and replicate it to the other instance by publishing it to the other instance using real-time publish. If you use LDAP or any other supported directory server you would be able to use a singe directory for both sites instances.

  • Multiple users pointed to the same location as their "Home Folder"

    One of the things we need to be able to do for out work is share folders. We are project based and do not want to store the projects in the users "eDirectory User" home folder. We made some initial test assigning two users to the same "Home Folder" and shared a folder and had multiple accounts both internal and external pick-up and drop off files in the folder.
    While it appears to work, I wanted to find out if there are downsides in having 20-30 people with the same Filr "Home Folder". What are the potential "gotchas". Security (internal) isn't an issues since these network locations are accessible by all the users anyway.

    Hi!
    Gotchas?
    Well, it essentially does exactly what it is supposed to do.
    (BTW, i have tested this with Filr 1.0.1 some time ago, if 1.1 behaves
    differently this would bw a MAJOR product change.)
    Given:
    Two internal Users A+B with the homedirs pointing to the exact same path
    \\Server\Dir
    One external User c@tld
    * User A logs in and creates a directory X and shares it with contribute
    rights to c@tld.
    * User c@tld logs in and creates a file X\file
    * User B logs in, see a folder X and the file with A as the author. The
    folder IS NOT shared to everyone (at least as far as user B is concerned,
    the user does NOT set the sharing details of user A)
    * User B shares the same folder X with c@tld with view only rights.
    * User c@tld clicks the link from User B and IS NOT able to contribute.
    * User c@tld is puzzled and calls User A asking why his rights have been
    revoked.... etc. etc.
    * User B has the (for him readonly) data somewhere else and calls the folder
    X obsolete and deletes it.
    * User A and c@tld are really pissed off.... etc. etc.
    * User c@tld has several different links with potentially different rights
    all pointing to the same physical location...
    etc.
    Again, it does exactly what it is supposed to do - from a technical point of
    view, but this might not be what the users/organization can
    handle/expect...

  • How to apply different Logical operations to N.of Signals

    Hello all,
    Please help me if anyone have idea about this.
    I have “N” number of signals. I want to apply different Logical operations for this.
    For Example:
          (((SigA >= 30 && SigB <=55) || (SigC = 42)) && (SigD > 45))
    ((((SigD >= 89.25 && SigF <=55.568) ||(SigG = 156.89)) && (SigA >= 45)) || ((SigF – Sig A) >25))
    Here Conditions will change every time. User can input different conditions (like Excel calculations). I need to check signals as per these type of conditions. Is there is any tool kits available in LabVIEW / we need to develop?
    Currently I’m thinking about string manipulations to extract the each condition . Once first condition is finished then check this results with next conditions (so on..)

  • How to apply different keyboard shortcuts to an actions with the same name but in different menus within one application?

    Hi,
    Hopefully someone can help. I have the application "djay" and in two different menus there is the action "Eject". I was wondering if it's possible to apply different keyboard shortcuts to those actions with the same name? I can't see how to do it as it seems you can only write the action but as there are two it doesn't seem to work for me.
    For example:
    djay>Table-1>Eject - ⌘⇧1
    djay>Table-2>Eject - ⌘⇧0
    Thanks in advance for any help!!

    A NodeList doesn't only contain 1 element. In your example it contains ALL <Data> elements inside the document.
    NodeList nodes = document.getElementsByTagName("Data");
    System.out.println(nodes.getLength() + " \"Data\"-elements found");
    for(int i=0; i<nodes.getLength(); i++) {
       Node node = nodes.item(i);

    Is it possible to run two different versions of Apple operating system (for ex. 10.6.8 and 10.9) on a MacBook Pro, either on the same disk or from an external hard disk? If so, where would I find the details? (In order to be able to use the older applications no longer supported in 10.9)

    If you want to add a second partition to the internal drive (in Disk Utility, select the drive, then open the partition tab and just click the + button), you should first be sure that you will have enough room to accommodate whatever the second volume will be. I am currently doing this for Snow and Mountain Lion.
    To get to whatever volume is not the startup disk, restart and hold down option/alt at the chime, which will bring up a selection of the two volumes. Use the left or right arrow keys to select it and then hit enter/return.

  • Can 2 Different 11g OBIEE Instances point to the same WebCat?

    Imagine we want to do a "poor man's" HA because the weblogic clustering license is too expensive. On ServerA we have one OBIEE stack (MWHome), and on ServerB we have a second OBIEE stack. The 2 weblogic servers are not aware of eachother. There is no "Scale-Out". Is it possible to point the 2 environments to the same WebCat? Only one environment is active at a time, and then we switch over to the second if there is a problem with the first. Or will this cause problems in 11g because of the whole user/role GUID nightmare?

    I restarted the BI System (all components), a few more times and now weblogic login is working again on all three apps (FMC, Console, OBIEE) on both environments. Still, I don't have a "warm fuzzy" about this setup.
    In our setting we're trying to prove out, we are looking for an active-passive solution where Env1 is active and Env2 is passive (but it's a hot standby in the sense that the services are started, it's just no traffic is going to it) and the shared webCat is on it's own clustered file system. If Env1 fails, the load balancer starts pointing to Env2. My hope was I could point both environments to the same webcat to avoid having to do any syncing or redeployment of webcat when there is a failover, but now I'm having doubts that this is possible, and it seems unstable to have 2 different environments pointing to the same webcat.

  • Apply Different effects to different parts of same text?

    I have a text logo, which I want to keep intact (there's kerning) so it's all in one text box.
    Let's say:
    HelloNiceWeather
    Could I apply different effects to different parts of the text? (for example I have 'hello' slide up from the bottom of the screen and 'nice' from the top?)
    thanks! It's appreciated

    You can use text Animators to effect specific characters within a text layer, defined by the "Range" parameters of the Animator.  This includes functions like moves, colour fill and stroke, rotation, blur, and many more.  So, in your example, you can apply an Animator to the character range "Nice", program your horizontal move, then apply a new Animator to the character range "Hello", and move them in a different way.
    Read more about Animators in the Help documents here.
    To apply plugin effects (like Lens Blur or Bezier Warp, for example) you would probably need to duplicate your text layer, mask out the unwanted characters, and apply the effect - depending on what you were trying to achieve.

    Thanks in Advance

    Hi Preetam,
    I believe it's not allowed, use different operation name.
    A wsdl:portType in a DESCRIPTION MUST have operations with distinct values for their name attributes.
    This applies only to the wsdl:operations within a given wsdl:portType. A wsdl:portType may have wsdl:operations with names that are the same as those found in other wsdl:portTypes.
    why do you need multiple operation with same message type?

  • How to apply different styles to multiple spry accordian panels?

    Hi all,
    I have a website that I'm building that has multiple spry accordian features on it.
    I am trying to apply different styles to each accordian. A problem arises when I try to place an accordian within another accordian.
    I have styled two different background images for two of the accordians for the styles (AccordionPanelTab, AccordionPanelTabHover and AccordionPanelOpen AccordionPanelTabHover) which work fine.
    When I try and place an accordian within another accordian the background image for this accordian for the styles (AccordionPanelTab and AccordionPanelOpen AccordionPanelTabHover) has the different style applyed that I stated in the accordion.css file, however the style (AccordionPanelTabHover) has the same style as the accordian it is within even though in the accordion.css file I stated a different background image.
    I hope all this makes sence below is my source and CSS Code.

    Okay guys,
    I figured it out, if anyone was having the same problem as me and looking on this thread for the answer, here it is.
    Firstly if you're wanting to seperatly style two or more Spry Accordions that are not within each other e.g.
    <div id="Accordion1" class="Accordion" tabindex="0">
      <div class="AccordionPanel">
        <div class="AccordionPanelTab">Label 1</div>
        <div class="AccordionPanelContent">
       <p>Content Goes Here </p>
    </div><!-- end #Accordion1 Content -->
      </div><!-- end #Accordion1 .AccordionPanel -->
    </div><!-- end #Accordion1 -->
    <div id="Accordion2" class="Accordion" tabindex="0">
      <div class="AccordionPanel">
        <div class="AccordionPanelTab">Label 1</div>
        <div class="AccordionPanelContent">
       <p>Content Goes Here </p>
    </div><!-- end #Accordion2 Content -->
      </div><!-- end #Accordion2 .AccordionPanel -->
    </div><!-- end #Accordion2 -->
    You don't have to do this, as long as you have seperate ID's for the divs (which dreamweaver automatically does anyway) you'll be fine.
    However if for some reason you want to put one accordion inside another like I did e.g.
    <div id="Accordion1" class="Accordion" tabindex="0">
      <div class="AccordionPanel">
        <div class="AccordionPanelTab">Label 1</div>
        <div class="AccordionPanelContent">
       <p>Content Goes Here </p>
    <div id="Accordion2" class="Accordion" tabindex="0">
      <div class="AccordionPanel">
        <div class="AccordionPanelTab">Label 1</div>
        <div class="AccordionPanelContent">
       <p>Content Goes Here </p>
    </div><!-- end #Accordion2 Content -->
      </div><!-- end #Accordion2 .AccordionPanel -->
    </div><!-- end #Accordion2 -->
    </div><!-- end #Accordion1 Content -->
      </div><!-- end #Accordion1 .AccordionPanel -->
    </div><!-- end #Accordion1 -->
    Too style Accordian 1 & 2 so their tabs both have different backgrounds and Hover background when the content panel is open and closed you have to style it in the CSS they following way;
    CSS
    #Accordion1  .AccordionPanelTab {
    height:75px;
    width:285px;
    background:url(../images/package_spry_tab_bg.png);}
    #Accordion1 .AccordionPanelTabHover,
    #Accordion1 .AccordionPanelOpen .AccordionPanelTabHover {
    height:75px;
    width:285px;
    background:url(../images/package_spry_tab_bg_RO.png);}
    #Accordion2  .AccordionPanelTab {
    height:44px;
    width:469px;
    background:url(../images/packages_spry.png);}
    #Accordion2 .AccordionPanelClosed .AccordionPanelTabHover,
    #Accordion2 .AccordionPanelOpen .AccordionPanelTabHover {
    height:44px;
    width:469px;
    background:url(../images/packages_spry_ro.png);}
    Normally when styling two seperate spry accordions you can just use the following code
    #Accordion1  .AccordionPanelTab {
    height:75px;
    width:285px;
    background:url(../images/package_spry_tab_bg.png);}
    #Accordion1 .AccordionPanelTabHover,
    #Accordion1 .AccordionPanelOpen .AccordionPanelTabHover {
    height:75px;
    width:285px;
    background:url(../images/package_spry_tab_bg_RO.png);}
    The only difference with styling a Spry accordion within another to ensure they have different hover backgrounds when the content panel is open and closed is ".AccordionPanelClosed".
    Hope this helped anyone who was having the same issue I was.

  • Apply different font styles in single text frame

    hi all
    how can i apply different font styles in a single text frame using indesign script ?
    for example :
    "dasdnasndasndlasndnasdlasdasdas"
    may i know is it possible to do that and how to do that ?
    thanks

    You can set (as well as read) every single property of any text range with scripts. This is javascript; it assumes you text cursor is inside a frame with some text.
    * Setting some specific characters to a color:
    app.selection[0].parentStory.characters.itemByRange(5,10).fillColor = "Red";
    * Change the font of words:
    app.selection[0].parentStory.words[3].appliedFont = "Arial\tBold";
    * .. or just the style:
    app.selection[0].parentStory.lines[2].fontStyle = "Italic";
    * .. or any other attribute (this one requires you to have at least 5 characters selected):
    app.selection[0].characters[5].underline = true;
    Of course these operations are not limited to something you select; they work the same with any text frames you can refer to.
    app.activeDocument.textFrames[1].paragraphs[2].appliedCharacterStyle = "charstyle";

  • Applying Different Product Classifications To Different Groups

    Sorry if I'm missing the obvious here, but I see no way of applying different product classification updates to different groups of PCs either through WSUS or through GPOs.
    Originally in my environment we had one WSUS policy which my predecessor had rolled into the Default Domain Policy.  In an effort to get away from this, and also to manage which types of updates get applied to which systems (critical and security updates
    for some, and all updates to others) I created two new GPOs: WSUS > All Updates and WSUS > Selective Updates.
    However, in configuring the GPOs I realized there is no way to designate the types of updates that are/aren't approved.  So I went back to WSUS, and under the Options screen I opened 'Products and Classifications' and then switched to the 'Classifications'
    tab.  So here I can select/de-select individual update types, but there's no way for me to turn them on/off granularly.  In other words, this seems to be a global setting.
    So my question is this: How do I set up WSUS to automatically approve and install *only* security and critical updates for one group of systems, and automatically approve and install *all* updates for another group of systems?  Do I need to use GPOs
    in tandem with WSUS, or can WSUS do it on its own?  Where would I go to configure something like this.
    Sorry for the detail, but I'm really not seeing anything obvious anywhere and I can't believe I'd have to build a secondary WSUS server just to set up multiple classification groups.
    Thanks,
    Bob

    Sorry if I'm missing the obvious here, but I see no way of applying different product classification updates to different groups of PCs either through WSUS or through GPOs.
    That's because you don't. The WSUS server has one repository of updates, defined by Product Category, Update Classification, and Language. Updates are then targeted to computers by placing computers in a target group and approving an update for
    that target group. All computers in the target group will evaluate each approved update, and if the update is installable, the computer will download and install the update.
    So, all you really did here was declare two different WSUS Target Group(s). How you actually apply those GPOs to your client systems will determine which of either, or both, groups that a client system is a member of.
    How do I set up WSUS to automatically approve and install *only* security and critical updates for one group of systems
    You create an Automatic Approval rule to approve Security Updates and Critical Updates for THAT GROUP. (e.g. the "Selective Updates" group).
    and automatically approve and install *all* updates for another group of systems?
    You create an Automatic Approval rule to approve ALL update classifications for the "All Computers" group (note that you don't even need your "All Updates" group, you only need the "Selective Updates" group).
    I will also take the moment here to severely warn you that approving ALL UPDATES for ALL COMPUTERS is a very dangerous thing to do, and frankly you don't even need a WSUS server to do that. Just enable Automatic Updates on the system and let 'em get their
    updates from Microsoft directly and you'll have exactly the same behaviors with a lot less administrative overhead.

  • String objects with the same string pointing to the same place but?

    Hi,
    Here is a simple sample
    String str1 = "a";
    String str2 = "a";I understand that in Java str1 and str2 pointing to the same place in memory and Java compiler wouldn't save the string "a" in two different places in memory. Am I right?
    If so, if the value of str1 changes to something else as following:
    String str1 = "a";
    String str2 = "a";
    str1 = "b";why str2 which has been pointing to the same place as str1 before is still containing ?a? and not ?b????
    Thanks!
