Applying E-Business 12.1 CPUJul2011 to app server 10.1.2.3

I'm in the middle of applying the patches for the July 2011 CPU to the Oracle AS 10.1.2 Developer (Tools) stack (on RH Linux x86-64).
One of the patches for 10.1.2.3 is #9593176 (see https://support.oracle.com/CSP/main/article?cmd=show&id=1323616.1&type=NOT#CHDHJHFB) and in the special instructions section step 4 is a s follows:
"4. This patch requires that jacob be upgraded to version 1.10.1
# https://sourceforge.net/projects/jacob-project/files/jacob-project/1.10.1/jacob_1.10.1.zip/download
# Only jacob.jar and jacob.dll are required to be extracted from the download.
# The jacob.jar file will need to be signed. Refer to the Forms/WebUtil or Java documention
# for information regarding jar signing:
My questions are:
Is this necessary? Version 1.10.1 of Jacob is dated 2006!. How can I tell what version of Jacob is installed/being used already?
If it is necessary, how do I sign the Jar file?
Thanks

My questions are:
Is this necessary? Version 1.10.1 of Jacob is dated 2006!. How can I tell what version of Jacob is installed/being used already?
If it is necessary, how do I sign the Jar file?In the same patch README file, it says "STEPS 2-5 ONLY APPLY IF YOUR FORMS APPLICATION USES WEBUTIL".
Since WEBUTIL is not used in EBS, I would say you do not need it for Oracle EBS installation -- See (Oracle Forms 10.1.2.3 Bundle Patch Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) [ID 1188127.1]), "Does this patch update WebUtil?"
Thanks,
Hussein

To save others hours looking for this, if you want to know how to set the Expiry Date from a custom HTML Web App Item submission form, you can do something like this:
    input type="radio" style="display: none;" checked="true" value="2" id="daysRB"
    input type="text" value="60" maxlength="2" style="display: inline; width: 25px;" id="Days" name="Days"
You can't set the date directly, but you can tell it how many days from today you want it to expire...

    Hi,
We need to setup 12.1.3 Vision instance on Amazon EC2. When I am checking details on AMI (Amazon Machine Images) for Oracle E-Business Suite 12.1.3 App Tier and DB Tier, I see below
“This AMI is currently available for use in the US-East region and for the High-Memory instance family (m2.xlarge, m2.2xlarge, and m2.4xlarge)”
Does it mean we can’t use it for US-West region? I could not find any phone number to contact AWS sales person.

    Hi,
It seems like you are upgrading E-Business Suite . If thats the case its better post the problem in Ebiz forum. Also post the document id you are following, your app and db release, OS release. We do not deploy J2EE applications on Ebiz Tech Stack app server. So un-deployment should not be applicable here.

  • Using Office Web Apps Server with SharePoint Foundation 2013

I want to know whether I can configure Office Web Apps server to edit Excel documents on a SharePoint Foundation 2013 site.
I came across a TechNet article that states that "When used together with SharePoint Server 2013, Office Web Apps Server provides updated versions of Word Web App, Excel Web App, PowerPoint Web App, and OneNote Web App".
However, later in the same article, it states "If your organization licenses Office 2013 through a Volume Licensing program, you can enable Office Web Apps editing for SharePoint 2013 on-premises" (without mentioning Foundation or Server).

    Hi Lemesnil,
The Office Web App server should support the Edit licenses for SharePoin Foundation 2013, Office Web App is free to
download, you can also try installing and configuring in a test environment, see more from the below article applied to SharePoint Foundation 2013.

  • Error in downloading jars through jnlp from Oracle 10.1.3 App Server

I am working on migrating an application (containing two WARs) from Resin servlet server to Oracle 10.1.3 App Server. The migration was unit tested successfully. One of the WARs was implemented as a web service that downloaded JARs to the client PC through jnlp. When I tried to combine the two WARs into one (application) WAR, some of the JARs failed to download with an error message stating that they were "corrupted". 5 of the 6 "corrupted" contain native code, although two other native code JARs were able to download successfully.
    Most of the time the jnlp failure was accompanied with this error: WARNING: Exception returned by remote server: {0}

Why is the jnlp failing when the WARs are part of the (main) application, but OK when it is part of a web service WAR? How can I overcome this problem?
    Thanks for your help.

    Hi Marc ,
    Thanks for your reply.....
Did you mentioning the script (upgrade_10131_
10133_oracle.sql) in the orabpel. I had run this script after applying the patch.
Still iam facing the same issue.
    what need to be done?
Could you please help me on this, because I need to do the Fault Handling Framework in BPEL and so i need the faultpolicy folder to be present.
Since I got the folder by applying the patch, but what happend is when i try to check out for the activity status in the BPEL Console Activity tab it is showing the error as mentioned earlier. Any problem with patch implementation or any bug is there. So far i done the patch installation successfully without error and i upgraded the orabpel schema using the mentioned script also. Any other things i need to do?
    Regards,
    Ashok.

If you have not followed instructions according to the following article. You need to reconfigure office web apps for sharepoint
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj966220(v=office.15).aspx
"Applying Office Web Apps Server updates by using the automatic updates process isn’t supported with Office Web Apps Server. This is because updates to an Office Web Apps Server must be applied in a specific way, as described in this article"

  • Office Web Apps Server 2013 patching and reported build numbers

Sorry ahead of time for asking this on a Sharepoint forum, but I can't find OWAS forums anywhere.
When applying patches to Office Web Apps Server the build version as reported by Control Panel | Program and Features does not change.  RTM build number is 15.0.4420.1017.  KB2760445 moves version to 15.0.4481.1005.  You can install it but
the version/build number as reported by control panel will not change.  I can't find information on build versions on MS website.  I am using Roger Haueter blog
here to help me with that.  I tries manually downloading updates and applying them as well as relying on WSUS and MS Update.  Results are the same.  You can see the updates under "installed updates".
    Please, share you knowledge.

This is normal. See these sites for how to identify the build number of the farm:

  • Follow up to web services question:  How do I expose java components as web services on iPlanet 6.0 app server?

My task - my company has several legacy PowerBuilder applications that access a variety of Sybase and MS SQL databases. Rather than re-inventing the wheel by re-writing these applications in Java, we would like to enable these applications to call java components (EJBs) that will provide new functionality. I would need a piece of software called CSXtend (from www.cynergysystems.com) to allow PowerBuilder to call a web service. However, I am not sure how to expose my business functions (EJBs) as web services on the iPlanet 6.0 App server. Thanks for all previous responses! Any additional info would be greatly appreciated! Mike

I have used Glue (http://www.themindelectric.com/products/glue/glue.html) to expose some of our stuff as Web Services. I recently found this on serverside. It's pretty good.
    http://www.theserverside.com/resources/article.jsp?l=Systinet-web-services-part-1
I believe that the middleware they use can be plugged into IPlanet. There is also an article in the knowledge base on the IPlanet site.

  • What are the components I need to install on my apps server

    Hello All,
Our Oracle DB 10.1.0.3.0 is installed on Linux Server.
Oracle 10g Developer Site is installed on windows XP.
I have upgraded form & reports form earlier version 6.0..
Now I need to install Oracle Application Server on windows 2003 (x86) 32 bit.
    I never done this b4.
    My question is that ,
what are the components I need to install on my apps server to run Forms & Reports?
I am installing apps server on one machine.
But when I read documentation they said its better to install on two machine.
    Regards,
    Diana

    Yes,
I'm sorry to tell you but for forms and reports (BI) you need to install almost everything, you need to install an infrastructure as first components, and then a midtier for AS with Business Intelligence option, in this second component you can chose to install Reports, forms, OCJ4, Portal, any other component you need or you thik you will need in the future.
You can install both in one Server if you don't have resources for 2 or 3 thinking on load balance. It works fine for me in one server but my operation is not too big.
