Applying Effects to multiple images CS6

I have 125 images inside an .indd file. I need to apply a dropshadow to each image. Is there a way to do this to all the images at once or do I have to go one by one?
R

If they have an object style applied -- just apply a drop shadow as part
of the object style.
If they don't (yet) have an object style -- do a search and replace
object, searching for all graphic frames, and replacing with an object
style. But this will work best if all the images need to have the
shadow. If only some do and some don't, you'll have to search and
replace one by one.

  • Applying changes to multiple images . . .

i'm relatively new to macs but i've been using aperture comfortably for the past few months.
having just returned from a long photography trip and upgrading aperture to 1.5.1, i'm finding that i am unable to apply changes to multiple images like i used to, such as: selecting multiple images to rotate or selecting multiple images to apply the "stamp."
when i try to "shift-select" multiple images, the change i'm trying to apply affects only the last image clicked-on in the "shift-select" grouping. does that make sense?
    has anyone else encountered this?

You most likely have the Primary Only option turned on. Turn off that option in the Control Bar.

  • Aperture 3.5.1 - applying titles to multiple images?

I've searched all over for this but can find nothing about it.  As above, is there a short and less labour intensive way to apply the same title to multiple images?  I thought Lift / Stamp metadata would do it but there seems to be no option to add either the Caption or Title to the set of data available to lift.
I know I could use keywords to get the essentials copied over but I try to avoid using a gazillion keywords, expanding the list daily, when the sole thing I want to do is stamp one set of 50 or so images with the same title.  If i used the keyword approach my keyword list would run into hundreds of entries which I simply don't wan't, from the management side if nothing else.
Copy and paste is an option I suppose but somewhat labour intensive!

Thanks.  Yah, been messing around and found it.  Didn't realise it was IPTC data so I never hit the drop down to see what was under it.  Dropped one clanger in that I deleted the Copyright Notice from the dropdown as I didn't want to find it stamped it twice as all the images get it on import.  Because I deselected it though, it actually deleted what was there.  Easy enough to fix of course but, IIRC if you select the Lift / Stamp to lift all the keywords, I seem to recall it stamps them again if you inadvertently re-stamp an image you've already done.
I try to keep this as uncomplicated as possible, could never decide whether to go with title or caption, I guess it matters neither way, unless doing this professionally in which case I guess there are IPTC conventions.

  • Applying effect to multiple master clips in bin

Basically I would like to apply the timecode reader effect to multiple master clips in a bin so that I can batch export those clips to an external drive for the director to take and watch at home.
I know how to apply an effect to multiple clips in a timeline, but is there a way to do it right to multiple master clips in a bin?
Right now my process is to duplicate the clips for a scene as new master clips in a separate bin, one by one apply the timecode reader (as favorite effect) to each clip, then batch export those clips to the external drive.
As I get to the scenes with many many clips, applying the effect gets a bit tedious. Just hoping there's a faster way I'm not thinking of or unaware of.
    Thanks.

It always seems like a strange thing to do, but the standard for these kinds of things seems to be to put everything on the timeline, apply the effects (you know how), and then drag them off the timeline into a fresh bin.
It's very quick and does the job just fine, but always somehow feels.. wrong.
If there were a way for a timecode reader to be applied by Compressor, then it would be much more of a batch thing. But I don't think there is.

  • Applying keywords to multiple images

How do I do this? I can toggle primary only with the keyboard 's', menu or button, but the keywords still only get applied to the primary image, not the selected images.
    Any ideas?

  • Applying effects to multiple clips or an entire sequence on a separate video track

I'm looking for an easy way to apply effects on a separate video track.  In AVID I would just drag and drop the effect preset onto a blank layer.  Or if I wanted the clip to affect just a few clips, I would add two edits (similar to razor blade) on a separate video track and drag the effect preset between those edit points.  Is there a way to do this in Premiere Pro?  Running CS 5.0.4.  Thanks for the help!

Well, depending on what you want to do, you might actually be able to use a clip instance of one sort or another.
One option is Transparent Video (File > New > Transparent Video); by itself, Trans. Video doesn't do anything, but some effects can be applied to it and will generate an output. This doesn't work with all effects, so you'll have to experiment. Check here for more: Create a transparent video clip
Another option would be to use a Color Matte (File > New > Color Matte) or Black Video (File > New > Black Video) clip. These do have an effect by themselves, so you could apply any effect you wanted to them, and then possibly use a Blending Mode to apply it. Black Video is common for this purpose, with something like the Add mode. Again, not perfect, but it will depend on the effect you're trying to achieve.
Unfortunately, we don't have anything like AE's adjustment layers in Premiere Pro. That would solve your problem, quickly.

  • Applying effect to multiple still images

Hello, i am using adobe premiere pro cs3 and i'm currently working on a project using still images to create a movie.
The problem is that i have more than 600 images, all of them which need scaling. It's too late for me to resize them before importing, because my friend started working on the project and i'm currently completing the rest, so i'm already halfway through the project.
I've saved the effect as a preset, but i was wondering if i could apply it to all the stills at the same time? because applying it to every still image at a time is very frustrating. any help ? thanks in advance.

Ann's suggestion will work. Based on your looking for a preset, I think we are all assuming they are the same size, and you are applying the same resize to them.
    > It's too late for me to resize them before importing,
I hear you, but is it really too late? By the time you sort it out, you could create an action in Photoshop and resize them all. Probably save on render time too.

  • Applying Effect to Multiple Clips?

    Hi,
Is there a way within Final Cut Express to apply a single effect such as Chroma Keyer to multiple clips? I've seen this done with Final Cut Pro but can't seem to replicate it in FCE.
    Thanks for your help.

You do it exactly the same way you could do it in FCP. Drag the filter onto multiple selected clips, or copy a clip with the filter and use the paste attributes function.

  • Can't apply keyword to multiple images

Though the help file says you can, when I select multiple photos and then click on a keyword, it only applies the keyword to one of the photos. Same thing if I click the checkmark next to the keyword. It does apply to all selected photos if I drag the images to the keyword, but why doesn't it work when I just click the keyword?
    Thanks

Two things, you have to be in Grid View, not Filmstrip Selection and not have Menu/Metadata/'Show Metadata for Target Photo Only' checked. I and others have gotten bitten by this, too.

  • Applying corrections to multiple images

i hae been used to using Capture one and its great for event photography in that you can apply a white balance and/or exposure correction to a number of photos at one. Can't work out how to do this on aperture and surprised its not easy to do.
Anyone know if it can be done?
    dual G5   Mac OS X (10.4.1)

The lift and stamp tools are how you do this. You have to apply the changes to one image, then "lift" this change, select a number of images, and "stamp" them.
Check out the tutorial on the training DVD that comes with Aperture for a demonstration.

  • Applying keyword to multiple images

I'm going through many thousands of images applying keywords. The keywords are applied with Option 1, 2, etc.
I am finding that if I have more thn ne image selected, hitting option 1 applies the keyword to the first image only. Is this expected bahavior? Is there a way for me to apply the same keyword to many images in a selection all at once?

  • Camera Raw - Can't Apply Same Value Multiple Images

Camera Raw 8.1 opened from within Photoshop.  Windows 7.
If I open a bunch of .cr2 files into Raw and want (for example) all of the Contrast values to be "25" or the Highlights to be "-90", I cannot seem to get images in the selection range other than the first one or two to mirror the same values.  I shift click / control click for a range and then try either typing in the value (number number then enter) or by scrubbing to the value.  Neither works.  I've tried saving out an .xmp Settings file to import to the selection - same non result.
I even tried Synchronize - I tweak the first, select my range and then hit Synchronize and uncheck everything other than (this example) Contrast and Highlights and hit okay ... still nothing.
This has been like this for a while but now I'm working with a very large batch of images that share very similar lighting values so it's driving me nuts to sit here in 2013 and punch in numbers one at a time.
    Thanks for your suggestions,
    Marc

  • You SHOULD be able to apply batch changes just by selecting multiple images

Don't get me wrong, i love lift/stamp. It's very helpful.
BUT, I really hate the fact that in Aperture you can't just drag-select a group of images and then either apply adjustments to all of them, or –more often– keywords.
Why does Aperture keep you from doing this?
At the very least, you should have the OPTION in PREFS to do this. Or not.

I'm sorry you are having difficulty.
It's simple: you select multiple images, right?. One has a thick white border and the others have thin ones. But, even though you have multiple images selected, if you input keywords, or other metadata, or an adjustment from the Inspector, it only applies to the "primary" image.
There should be an option to have that be the case... OR, if you want, to apply whatever adjustment from the INSPECTOR you choose... and have that be applied to those multiple images.
"...why would anyone be likely to want to see each single adjustment step applied to a large number of images before settling on the preferred combination?"
    Because everyone's not you.
I just shot 100+ table tops that were VERY similar lighting / angles / etc. And I needed to comp them out for the client ASAP. The technique I described would've saved me a lot of time. Instead I had to do ONE image of the mini-batches, and then lift/stamp the rest. When it would've been so much easier for me to drag-select the 8, or 15 in a group, and assign them all keywords at the same time, and do some adjustments. Bam. Quicker.
Oh, and per the "what is the universe" question? You don't have to look any further than Apple's own operating system to see this "crazy" and "unique" technique in action: go to FINDER, select multiple items of folder (drag around them), and then CTRL-Click and choose a label color. Viola! ALL the items become that color.
Like I said, I'm only suggesting Apple provide the OPTION of working this way. And it IS the norm in most operating system / program environments.
In fact, watch the Lynda.com vid on Aperture 3: the MetaData portion, the guy drag-selects a bunch of images and says "...now, you'd THINK you could just enter some keywords for these similar images and have them stick... you'd be wrong. You have to use lift/stamp for that. For some odd reason."

  • Apply multiple effects to multiple objects with single click box

I would like to click on a click box and have one object appear and another object disappear. I guess what I'd like to do is apply effects to multiple objects with a single click box. Is that possible?
    Thank you.

    Welcome to our community
Sure it can be done but you won't use effects to do it.
When you insert an object in Captivate, you have an option to enable or disable Visibility. You also have an option to name the object. So you would give the object a meaningful name and clear the Visibility option to "hide" it until needed.
Then you would create an Advanced Action that would hide some objects and show others.
After that, you would assign the Advanced Action to a Click Box or a Button or some other event.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Keywords won't Apply to Multiple Images

I just bought a new iMac and have transitioned to Mavericks and Aperture 3.5.1.  I just noticed that I can't seem to apply keywords to multiple images.  When I select a number of images (usind click then shift-click on the last, or command-click on several), and then drag a keyword onto the selected images, the keyword only appears on one of the images.  I've looked for some setting that needs to be changed, but can't find anythiing.  Any ideas?  Anyone else experienced this?
    Thanks

Do you have Primary Only set?
