Applying imovie 4 effects

Why can I only apply effects one or two times in the same project?
Anytime after that the clip just shakes and it doesn't apply.

my project is 6 10min clips of video
by shaking i mean, when i push the apply button for the effect
the clip in the main window of imovie just shakes. in other words
like it is saying i can't carry out that command or something.
I applied a crop effect to two clips in the project by using a plugin
I downloaded from the internet and it worked, but attempts to use
it again on other clips in the same project failed many times.
by the way, do you know of the best place to find a crop plugin?
maybe the one that I downloaded is a demo and only works a couple
times. i need one i can use ulimited.

IMovie Effect Blanks Screen When Applied

I have followed the directions below to apply an effect to part of a clip. When I preview the effect, it looks fine. After I apply the effect it blanks out the section where the effect has been applied and there's no sound either. Your help would be greatly appreciated. I've tried this many time with different effects and I get the same results.
To apply a video effect to a clip:
1. Select the clip or clips you want to alter.
To apply an effect to a section of a clip, drag the crop markers to select the frame range you want.
2. Click the Effects button and select a video effect.
You see a sample of the effect in the preview monitor at the top of the Effects pane.
3. Move the Effect In and Effect Out sliders to indicate when you want the effect to begin and end.
Tip: when you drag the Effect in or Effect Out sliders, you see the times appear in the preview window. You can click the numbers and change them to adjust the timing.
4. Adjust the effect with any other available sliders (some effects have more options).
5. Click Preview to view the effect in the iMovie monitor.
6. Repeat any of the above steps until you have the effect the way you want it.
7. Click Apply.

Try this way just to see if there is some other problem:
Cut your clip on the time line using the cursor for your in and out points that you want to apply the effect to. Use apple T to cut where the cursor is for the start of your effect and move the cursor to the end point of your effect and use apple T again. Click on the the clip between the to points you have cut. It should be blue. Hit apply on the effect tab and play the clip. It should have worked if it didn't post back.

Apply multiple effects at once in imovie hd?

i have applied multiple effects to a clip ("adjust color," "soft focus" "brightness and contrast" etc).
the effects in combination create a distinctive look which i would like to apply to a whole movie. but it takes a long time to apply each effect.
is there a way to copy or save a group of effects as a set, and then apply them all at once in order to save time?

how MUCH faster is FC for rendering effects?
Not any faster at all.
The difference is that you can apply them all within a few seconds and then have lunch (or whatever) while FCE renders ALL of them in sequence without further user interaction.

No sound when applying special effects

When i apply a effect to a clip or even part of the clip
I hear no sound. The clip volume is all the way up.
What should i do?
I check imovie hd help and found nothing

This is a known problem - most often occurs when applying transitions.
Way around this is to first select video-clip/s that will be affected
• Advance menu and down to Extract Audio
• Now apply effect or transition
• Sound will be un-touched
• Eventually some small adjustments to the sound-clips especially when using transitions

How do I select a photo from the timeline to apply an effect.

I am tryiing to select an individual photo on the timeline to apply an effect like a zoom or pan.

I suspect your answer is for you to right click the video (your slideshow in video .psess format) now on the Premiere Elements 11 Expert workspace Timeline and then select and click on "Break Apart Elements Organizer Slideshow" command. The command will achieve that and you should be able to move forward with your editing plans.
The above applies if these are the details of your workflow which I believe to be the case....
1. In the Elements Organizer 11 Slideshow Editor you put together some photos and used the Slide Show Editor's Cross Dissolve transition in the Slideshow Editor slideshow.
2. You outputted the slideshow from the Elements Organizer 11 Slide Show Editor using the Output option of Edit with Premiere Elements Editor.
3. When you do that you will find in Project Assets, a folder with the projects assets as well as one copy of the slideshow as a video in .psess format. There will also be a copy of the .psess video on the Timeline.
4. When you use that route, the Break Apart Elements Organizer Slideshow command is available to you in order for you to make additional significant edits to the slideshow before a burn to.
If you use any of the Slide Show Editor options to create the wmv version of the slideshow (Burn to Disc or Save As A File Movie wmv), the file on the Timeline will be a whole video in wmv format. That cannot be broken apart with the Break Apart Elements Organizer Slideshow command.
Please review my assumptions and speculations and let us know if the answer that I provided was appropriate under the circumstances.

How come I need to render EVERY TIME I apply an effect in Premiere Pro CC?

I am using Premiere Pro CC version 7.2.2 (33) on a 2.9 GHz Intel Core i5 iMac with 24GB of memory and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660M 512 MB graphics card. The footage I am importing is ProRes 422 1920x1080 square pixel 24 frames progressive footage.
When I place clips onto the timeline, they play without any issue. In fact, they play beautifully! However, whenever I apply an effect, the clips needs to be rendered. Here's the biggest problem though, every effect needs to be rendered and I don't even need to change the settings of the effect. Just placing the effect on the clip causes a red line to appear above my clip.
Help!?

They do play back. They don't become labored or jerky until I begin taxing the GPU with stacked or complex effects. John T Smith was right on about the hardware deficiency and your insight into my FCP past and red render lines completed the answer for me.
It looks like I'm now in the market for a hardware upgrade.

Applying One effect to several clips (not tracks!)

i have one track with about 40 clips in it of different cut up audio. i want to apply one effect to several different clips at once. how do i do that?
i know how to apply the one effect to one clip, but if i try and shift click four different clips, and then go to add an effect to it, the effects are grayed out
and i really don't want to go into each clip, add an effect, adjust it and save it for every clip.
is there an easier way?

There are a few ways to do this. The simple way is to apply the filter to one clip. Open it into the viewer and change the parameters as you like. Select all the other clips and drag the filter name from the viewer onto the other clips. They all have the same setting.

Applying video effects in Premiere at the track or media level?

I am trying to adjust to the Premiere workflow, coming from Vegas, and have a question regarding the application of video effects. Premiere seems to apply effects at the clip level - for example, if there is a cut in the clip, the effect is only applied to a portion of the clip. Vegas allows for the application of effects at the media level - no matter how many cuts have been made - or at the track level. Is there something comparable in Premiere? I have been trying to apply the Neat Video effect, and the only thing I can think of is to select multiple clips when applying it, but it seems to crash Premiere when I do that. Any advice on making this work would be much appreciated.
On a related topic, does Premiere apply effects in a chain, as they are added, or does it automatically perform an reffect first if it should be applied first? In other words, does it matter in what order the effects are applied, and if so, is there a rough order of how they should be applied?

I'm running Premiere Pro 5.5 and have been able to lasso and apply my effects to several of my clips all at once.
Once you apply the effect and fine-tune (if need be), you can right-click and create a User Preset to help save time (say if all of your clips needed to be color corrected). The User Presets are the first folder listed in the Effects bin.
As far as the effects order are concerned, you pretty much have to play around with those yourself. I use a Video Limiter effect with a ProcAmp and have noticed that if they aren't in a certain order (the first listed effect is the first applied...) it changes how it looks and not always for the best. Best bet is to play around and see what order of video effects works best for you.

Is there a way to apply an effect (same settings) on multiple files?

I think the title pretty much says it all. I know that I can create a preset and for the dozen or so files I'm working with now that's not such a big deal, but if I get work through this client I could be working with fifty or so files and the time to open, add the effect, save, and close adds up fast. I've tried saving an applescript but that doesn't seem to work with applying an effect. Any suggestions?

Copy the clip with the effect. Select the clips you want to apply it do. Use Edit>Paste Effects.

Apply video effect to a segment of a clip?

I am selecting a small segment of a larger clip, when I apply a video effect like "Black & White" the effect is put on the entire clip, not the part I have selected.
Am I missing something?

Put your playhead (the yellow vertical line) where you want your effect to start, then hit command+B, then move the playhead where you want the effect to end, then hit command+B again, this will create a new stand alone clip that you can now apply your effect to without impacting the other parts of the clip.

I was using adjustment layers for color correcting and now my adjustment layer is just staying white and I've looked at so many forums and i can't find what I'm doing wrong...

Why does my text disappear when I apply an effect to it?

Recently, whenever I try applying an effect to my text layer(s), the text completely disappears from the layer and therefore is not showing up when I preview my composition. How do I stop this? I'm using CS5.5 if that helps.

Just the text in my text layer is what's disappearing. I import my image file, drag it onto the board and then click to add a text layer. I type out my text and then go into the effects & presets, select Animation Presets --> Text --> Animate In -->,Straight In MultiLine, drag the effect into the text layer and then my text disappears, as shown in the second image below ...This just recently started happening to me and I don't know how to get it back. I'm using After Effects CS5.5. I'm very new at this programs so I apologize for not being able to provide a ton of info...

Applying Style Effects with vba script

Hello,
I've been doing a lot of scripting with VBA to create data driven graphics with good results so far.
Now I want to try and fancy things up a bit. For example I'm trying to add an Effect to an object.
As example, I create a simple filled rectangle with the following:
Set objRectangle = docRef.PathItems.Rectangle(x, y, w, h)
objRectangle.FillColor = rgbColorRef
objRectangle.Stroked = False
objRectangle.Filled = True
After I want to apply an effect equivalent to selecting Effect > Stylize > Scribble... from the menus in Illustrator.
I found PathItem.ApplyEffect (LiveEffectXML As String) but not sure this is correct approach. Can't find any documentation or examples on this or reference for the LiveEffectXML string.
Sure would appreciate some help if anyone has done this.

Thank you Kasyan, but it doesn't work as I expected it to. The InDesign style are somtimes overridden, sometimes not. It seems to have something to do with wether the Word-style is based on another Word-style or not. In addition I have my InDesign styles grouped, and when InDesign upon placing a text doesn't find the style on the top level, it imports the Word-style.
My solution:
Change Word-styles so they are not based upon another style
Running the VBA-code in Word
Placing the text using "Use InDesign style definition" for paragraph and character styles conflicts.
Editing the imported InDesign styles so that they are based upon and equals the original InDesign style in the respective group

When I an apply an effect in the Effects Gallery,the stroke is affected,unwantedly?

When I an apply an effect in the Effects Gallery, for example for a picture of a cloud, the stroke changes too. How do I prevent the stroke from changing? I have Cs3/Cs2. If it has anything to do w/ the Appearance panel, I don't see a fill or stroke attribute when I click the cloud. Only when I deselect it.

You must select the fill only in the Appearance panel. Silly, but that's the way it is.
