Applying indexes in 11.1.1.7 version

Hi All,
We were using the 11.1.1.5 version of OBI which had the Hint option in the physical layer to apply the index.
But in the latest release(11.1.1.7) this seems to be missing. Is there some other place where we can apply teh index or some workaround.

I am looking in the physical layer of the RPD. When we click on the table objects properties we have the name,table type then the cacheable option and description.
Ideally in between Cacheable option and Descripton we have this option hint. but i dont see it her.
i have taken a few screen shot not sure how i can share it you.

How to apply white balance from jpeg to raw version

I always shoot in RAW + jpeg format. Many times the jpeg will work fine and I still have the RAW if I want to take the time to tweak things a bit more.
But sometimes the jpeg stumbles on a white balance that works well for a particular image. If I want to apply that same balance to the RAW version, I would like to be able to read what that color balance setting (in K degrees I assume) is so I can copy it.
Is there a way to find that info somewhere? The exif will only give you the name of the setting (Flash, Auto, Cloudy, whatever...) but not the numerical info needed to apply it in Aperture's White balance adjustment.
I use a Nikon D600.

OK, progress!
I found out from Iliah Borg on the dpreview.com forum that the utility ExifTool (or its GUI version pyExifToolGUI) will provide the R, B, G1 and G2 values for the white balance setting. They are provided as multipliers or absolute vaules. Example:
WB RB Levels : 1.51953125 1.8515625 1 1
WB GRBG Levels : 256 389 474 256
Now does anyone know how you can enter these type of numberic values in Aperture? The standard White Balance brick does not have input fileds for these types.

Indexing not working correctly in desktop version

We have a tool which generates output as a PDF document. One of our customers has a requirement for this output to be indexed so that they can browse using the bookmark menu at the left of the screen.
When viewing the output document in a browser window (I use FireFox) the links work correctly, and link to the correct page. When saving the file however, and opening it in the desktop version of Reader (typically by double-clicking), the index fails to link to the correct page.
Further investigation reveals a spill-over pagebreak between pages 2 and 3 of our output, and this is what the desktop version of Reader is not picking up when generating its index. The FireFox plugin version picks it up fine.
Our workaround is obviously to tell our customers to open their saved output in their browser window, but this is an issue that needs fixing nonetheless.

Sadly, mentioning things in a forum isn't a report and the chances of Adobe staff seeing it or acting on it are negligible. There is a bug report forum. This does seem to get to Adobe (though they never seem to reply or acknowlege). Clearly an actual bug report would need to give a specific problem PDF, describe what it does, and describe what you think it SHOULD do.
That said, I don't think you are describing a bug. The behaviour of links in Adobe Reader is quite well understood, and there is nothing to fix. Links are always to a rectangular region of the page, and Reader always makes that rectangle visible. It sounds as if your software is generating links that are not making the best use of a rectangle. You say "when Reader is...generating its index" and that rather baffles me. Reader doesn't generate indexes. The index is already present and fixed in the PDF.

Apply update 7.0.3 to Developer version of InDesign Server

Is there any way i could apply this update to a developer version of InDesign Server?
We have an export PDF problem with our Live InDesign Server which we can replicate on our development server. I would like to apply the update to our development server to see if the problem is resolved with the patch. Does anyone know of a way to do this?
When i try installing the patch i get "Update is not applicable".

Thanks Francis, I was able to update the developer version of IDS by following your instructions.
You wouldn't happen to know if this same problem will happen on a production version of IDS do you? We will be applying the update to two Production Servers that we have and I'm hoping we don't have to uninstall and reinstall them as well.

Make index entries hot links in Word version?

I'm using RoboHelp 9 (yes, we're behind the times here). I have a question about something that's never worked, but it's been a low priority, so I just kept ignoring it.
When I generate a Word version of my project, it has an index, but none of the index entries are hyperlinked. The TOC entries are hyperlinked, so why aren't the index entries?
Environment:
RoboHelp 9
Word 2013, but it never worked with Word 2010
Windows 7 Professional, 64-bit
Project Settings:
Add New Keywords to Index File (HHK)
Binary Index
What do I need to do to make the index entries hyperlinks when I generate the Word doc?

2012 R2 - One server not applying two updates. Lists AD / SYSVOL Version Mismatch

So we have a bunch of servers running 2012 R2. On 1 or 2 of them I have a certain GPO that isn't applying. The specific one I'm having trouble with is our SNMP settings. The base settings applied but then we updated the GPO to add in an
additional IP address. Most servers pulled it down fine but 1 or 2 did not. Tried gpupdate /force and normal things and just can't get it to apply.
I can the gpresult /h and in the html file it says:
The following GPOs have special alerts
Default Domain Policy - AD / SYSVOL Version Mismatch
SNMP - AD / SYSVOL Version Mismatch
The only info I found on that error talks about a particular patch but we already have that patch installed. The change was put in over a week ago and is still not flowing to just these specific machines.
Anyone have any idea how I can figure out what the problem is? They are production machines so I can't reboot them until Saturday night when we are scheduled to do the Feb Patches anyway. I don't know if that will help or not so if there's something
else I can check in the meantime, that'd be great.

Quick note on this issue:
I was running RSOP against a user and server other than the local server, and the error would not go away, I tried installing the patches and rollups on the DC I was seeing the error on. Since these were already installed I tried installing
them from the stand alone download.
They complained about already being installed, so I was relegated to doing more research.
After some time, and while chasing a separate issue on the other server, I noticed that the updates on THAT SERVER were not up to date. I ran into issues updating due to corruption (another story altogether), but with the help of Microsoft Support,
I was able to get THAT SERVER updated.
I went back to troubleshooting the AD / Sysvol error, starting from scratch...trying to install the patches that were already installed...etc.
Just for grins and giggles, I re-ran the RSOP against the original user and the other server and viola, the error is gone.
Longer story than it needed to be, I know, but this leads me to believe that the error is NOT on the DC to DC but an issue with the server your running RSOP against. I am not positive that this is actually the case, but this may help someone out.
So if anyone can test and/or verify this please post.

How to correctly apply index to table for select optimization

i have the table

so always i should find city for country.
How to optimize the table to speed up query. Now i have a lot of rows and query time is 5 seconds. Which index will be optimal ?

please don't use "select *" in your query, select only required column in your select query,
Assuming you are going to get postcode in select, the query can be.

then the cover index may look like.

What causes the "Can not index this document as its modified version is open in Acrobat" index error

(when building a full-text index with Acrobat Catalog, and when the PDF document referenced after each of these error messages in the catalog building log file is not open in neither Acrobat Standard nor in Acrobat Reader)

If you print to the Adobe PDF printer you are creating a PS file that is then automatically loaded into Distiller for conversion to PDF. Printing to a different PS file should not make a difference, unless the PS driver is substantially different. You can also print to file with the Aodbe PDF printer and then convert with Distiller (eliminating the automatic Distiller step). If you are printing to a network location, that may be the issue. Acrobat has long had problems with some network connections. To check this out, you might print locally and then move the file to the network drive.
In terms of posting a file, you have to put it on a separate server and then post the link.

A simple way to apply crop from photo book frame to image version?

I have the following workflow for photobooks creation (a custom photobook):
0) Prepare an album with photos I'd like to create my book from.
For 99% of my photos I have TIFF files as masters. Not RAW files.
I use managed library.
1) Create a book layout (place images, select different crop factors for frames, etc)
2) Looking at specific page adjust photos using Aperture adjustments (exposure, color balance) to make images to looks similar on the page
3) A the final step, apply some adjustments from external plugins.
Here I have the question from subject:
* The Aperture sends the whole file to plugin (i.e. some of Nik collection plugins, but it might be a different plugin)
* But on my photo book page I have a different crop factor (i.e. TIFF master is 2:3, on photo book page I frame it to 1:2)
* As the result some of the adjustments I did in external plugin are not visible on the photobook page, which produces a different visual effect, which I don't want.
Currently, to workaround this, I have to manually apply the same crop factor to image version, then make a version copy, open the plugin. Only after these steps Aperture will send the desired crop factor to external plugin.
This is some sort of technical work which I need to do manually, no brain is involved here - I'm looking to some ways how to automate this.
As the result, I'd like the crop factor from photo frame from Aperture custom book to be applied to image version.
Any ideas on scripts/external programs are welcome.

How to find versions of application server components to apply patches

I have Oracle Application server 10.1.2.0.2 installed in my linux box.
under metalink.oracle.com
1. i read documentation Doc ID: 420061.1 in metalink about patches and i did find one patch# 5922120 for my application middletier.
but when i did a metalink search i did see some patches for my database version which were not critical
so if they are not critical and if my application server is working fine then do i need to apply these patches.
My application server version is 10.1.2.0.2
and my apalication server infrastructure version is 10.1.0.4.2
during my metalink searches i found the following patches which were uner normal priority. they are:
patch numbers: 5127390, 5094712, 5605377
Can someone guide me.
Bottom line is: do i need to apply these patches unless they are critical and they are requred for my applications.
Also i have one more basic question is
How do i find out individual component versions in my application server like Portal, discoverer, EM, EM agent, etc?

You have a similar environment to ours. We actually have two Oracle environments: 91) 10gDB 10.1.0.5 / 10gAS 9.0.4.3, and (2) 10gDB 10.2.0.3 / 10gAS 10.1.2.0.3.
In regards to what patches, I look at two items: the latest patchset for DB and AS, and the Critical Patch Updates(CPU). Often, the CPU will drive what patchset you will need to be at. For example, with the CPU April 2007, we had to move to patchset 3 for our AS (9.0.4.3) since that is the only 10gAS R1 that Oracle provided CPU patches.
As far as version ID, I have not found one single area to acquire this. For Portal, you can invoke Portal, http://host/pls/portal, logon as 'portal', then Administer, Global Settings, and at the bottom of the page is the version.
For other products like Forms and Discover, you can find the version when the tool is invoked.
Not quite as nice as the DB side where dba_registry will give you all the goodies.

Mac OS X 10.3.6 vs. higher versions

As has been noted elsewhere by Ronald Rood and others, there is a kernel update / patched version pointed to by Oracle that you can download from Apple for 10.3.6 Server, descried on the Metalink article http://metalink.oracle.com/metalink/plsql/ml2_documents.showDocument?p_database_id=NOT&p_id=169706.1
We have already done the Apple-recommended security and other updates to 10.3.7 and are curious whether the kernel version changes to the point that the above patched version still applies. Can someone who has the patched kernel installed please do a kextstat | head and compare to the results below (for 10.3.7 Server, I think the kernel is the same as for regular 10.3.7)?

Hi Alan,
I already asked oracle support about this and the answer was that the patch was not in time for 10.3.7. You can expect problems with a mprotect code path but it was not possible to tell in what situation the problem could occur.
My first production site is also running 10.3.7 - since dec 31th 2004 - and apart from the memory leak issue we dit not experience any problems. For who is still building a system, go for the 10.3.6 release since oracle support won't do anything for you when you run on an unsupported release. With a little luck it's fixed in 10.3.8
BTW: did you get ocssd.bin to run on the client ? If so, would you like to share how you managed to get it running ? On the 10.3.7 server it went right out of the box but on my 10.3.7 client not :-(
