Applying one effect to numerous audio files.

Hello,
I'm using ST 2.0.2 and would like to apply one effect to multiple audio files.
I have about 25 audio files (voice-overs and translations for numerous programmes)
I've used Process>Effects>Dynamics>Compressor to set the level I desire, and have saved my settings in the 'User Presets' box, but it's taking ages to click - click - click - click - click etc to apply my preset to each audio file.
There must be a way to apply my preset to ALL the individual audio files in one sweep surely?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Probably much too late to be of help to you by now but in case others are puzzled by this +(as I was)+ you simply adjust one audio file using whatever effects etc you need, then go to:
File > Save Soundtrack Pro Script.
Then in the FCP Timeline, you can select as many clips as you want to add these effects to:
Right-Click > Send to > Soundtrack Pro Script.
All the STP Scripts you've saved will then appear for you to choose from.
This works exceptionally well - but do not save a script which has been added to a selected area on your original audio file as this causes unreliable results when added to other clips!

  • Applying One effect to several clips (not tracks!)

i have one track with about 40 clips in it of different cut up audio. i want to apply one effect to several different clips at once. how do i do that?
i know how to apply the one effect to one clip, but if i try and shift click four different clips, and then go to add an effect to it, the effects are grayed out
and i really don't want to go into each clip, add an effect, adjust it and save it for every clip.
    is there an easier way?

There are a few ways to do this. The simple way is to apply the filter to one clip. Open it into the viewer and change the parameters as you like. Select all the other clips and drag the filter name from the viewer onto the other clips. They all have the same setting.

  • After Effects Crash when audio file is dragged to layers panel, but not when dragged to comp window

Ok, so this is an odd one, and as it has a work around its not a huge issue, but it would be good to get to the bottom of it.
If I load an audio file of any type (wav, aiff, mp3 etc) into the project window everything is fine, however if I drag it down to the composition layers panel I get a crash.
However, if I drag the file to the composition widow (to the right) this does not cause a crash, and now that this has loaded the audio file in question I can drag it freely wherever I like without a crash. However if I import a different audio file and drag it downward to the composition layers panel it crashes again.
I am running cs5.5 upodated to the latest 10.5.1.2 and running Mountain Lion.
    Crash report

Ok, so I figured out what is causing the crash... why I do not know.
I had a background texture that was very large (5184x3456) that was hidden. If this layer was unhidden then it did not cause the crash, no other hidden layers caused the crash.
I re-sized the layer in photoshop to comp size, then re-inserted this image. It now works without a problem.
So I have solved my own problem here, would still like to know why it happened if anyone can shed some light on this?

  • How do I apply one application for all those files/?

Now I am doing them one by one which is annoying

I assume you mean how to associate a filetype with its application. Select a file then press COMMAND-I to open the Get Info window. In the section labeled "Open With" select the desired application from the drop down menu, then click on the Change All button.

  • Does After Effects supply stock audio files?

    Hi all.
This might sound like a dumb question, but i have AE and was wondering if we have access to any stock standard audio (background) files anywhere?
    Thanks!

  • Adding an effect to a portion of an audio file?

    Hello,
For years now I've been using FCP and when STP was first released it seemed wonderful, but very convoluted, so I ended up doing all my audio mixing within FCP.
Recently I've decided to really nail STP and get it incorporated into my workflow, but the old frustrations have appeared immediately, which is why I never continued using it originally.
One problem I'm encountering is this:
I have a recording of a band, which when I open in STP appears on one long timeline. I've added markers where the songs stop/start etc, and deleted bits between the songs. When I save this file I can open it in a project file.
I then use 'S' to split the main track, chopping up the songs and placing them in their own tracks.
My confusion arises when I want to add a touch of reverb to one song.
If i highlight one song on a track, and go to Process>Effects>Reverb/Delay, non of the options are selectable, so I double-click the audio clip/waveform on a track and it opens in the audio timeline (no separate tracks, just 2 large waveforms Left&Right), here I can apply the reverb to the audio file, but it applies the effect to the whole audio file (1 hour long) not the individual song I want.
So... I can drag the playhead to make a selection with the master audio file, ie, select the individual song, and apply the reverb.
Is this the correct workflow? It seems like quite a convoluted process just to add a touch of reverb to one song on my master timeline with all the different tracks.

You shouldn't apply the process to the file, because as you've discovered it will affect all of the other regions of the file in your project.
Either add a reverb to each individual track in the mixer, or better yet to save on resources Add a Bus. On the Bus insert a Reverb. Now on any of the audio tracks you can Add a Send. By adjusting the level of the send of the signal from any channel to the Bus with the reverb you can add as much or as little as you like to each individual track.

  • How do I configure FX for only one piece of the audio on the track?

I want a bypass switch to control in automation visualization. I want one part of an audio file to have distortion and I want to be able to control when this effect turns off and so it isn't heard where I don't want it. Any clue? Thanks...

There are many ways to perform these sorts of tasks, depending on what exactly you want to achieve. You can use an Insert to apply your distortion effect, & use Channel Strip Settings to change from one state to another. You can use Sends to a Buss. You can use Track Automation under MIDI control to mix in another track with the distortion already applied. There are plenty of other options as well, but in order for us to go into more detail about any of these methods, you will have to be a bit more specific about what you intend to accomplish, & how you want to control the switching (e.g., from a music controller keyboard, a mouse, etc.)…

  • Can't set parameters for embedded audio files using css

I'm embedding numerous audio files in Dreamweaver CS3 using
the <embed> tag. I'm using CSS to control the box size and
other attributes relating to how the file displays on the page, but
I'd also like to set the parameter "autoplay" to false, and
controller to "true," for all of the audio files. I've been doing
this individually for each file (very time consuming), because I
can't figure out a way to do it with CSS. Is there a way to set
those parameters in CSS and apply it to all files?

No. CSS is for presentation, but these parameters belong to
    the HTML and
    have to be written there.
BTW: The 'embed' element is invalid HTML. If you care about
    valid markup
and your site doesn't have to be compatible with really old
    browsers
like NN 4 or IE 5.5, then you should use the valid method
    using 'object'
    elements.

  • Cannot Save my Audio Files as Apple Loops in Logic 8

Everytime I click save it says "Check Destinations drive available Space".
This happens EVERY TIME I try to save one of my own audio file as an Apple Loop!
"Save As" works fine. Im not the only person asking this... Anyone? Appreciate any help...

I just checked this on my older PPC (Dual 2 G5) system, as I thought it was still working... Well, yep, it is working on that system, but not on either of my Intel Logic rigs (Macbook Pro and Jan08 8 core).

  • Images and audio files in a database

how does one put images and audio files in oracle 8? What are the data types going to be in the tables for images and audio files..?
    null

One of the most important reasons that one would choose to store multimedia in the database is to be able to manage this content safely and efficiently. Having multimedia in the database allows you to use database itegrity techniques to keep your data safe and consistent. If you choose to use BFILE storage, you will NOT have these advantages. You will have to back up the database, and the filesystem(s) where the multimedia is stored, and devise a way to keep this data consistent. You will not be able to rely upon the database backup entirely, you would need filesystem backups to be coordinated with database backups.
I would suggest that you store the multimedia in BLOBs within the database.
From the LOB application developer's guide:
    * External (BFILE) LOBs do not participate in transactions. Any support for integrity and durability must be provided by the underlying file system as governed by the operating system.

  • How do you make MP3 audio files?

I'm running for public office, and a local newspaper invited candidates to submit statements, along with MP3 audio files for display on its website.
So how does one make an MP3 audio file? Is this something I can do with my MacBook Pro and Leopard alone, or do I need to obtain a special software program?
    Thanks.

    Hi David!
As Francine mentioned, you will want to use the audio production software that came with your Mac, called Garageband. This will let you record speech, and even layer in music, etc. And when everything is set as you like it, the sound file can be exported in a variety of formats. It will provide a great basic audio recording solution for strictly voice and talking, but you can take things one step further and layer in a music track as an intro or outro if desired for a little more flair, edit out mistakes, etc. A great program that comes right with your Mac. There are nice basic tutorials on the Apple website which give an introduction to Garageband. Good luck David!

  • How do make sure the only audio files in my "Audio Files" folder are what are currently used in my project?

I noticed my hard drive space was getting suspiciously low...
After doing a little digging I realized that every single audio file (even the ones i have deleted segments for in my projects' arrange windows) are being saved in every one of my projects' "Audio Files" folders.
One 4 minute song (comprised of 3 guitars, 1 bass, Midi drums, and a syth) has a cooresponding "Audio Files" folder containing over 1,600 Wav files and is consuming 3.0 + Gigs of hard drive space FROM THAT SONG ALONE!
It seems as if every take i have ever recorded (even If it is no longer represented in my projects's arrange windows) remains saved in these "Audio Files" folders.
Is there a setting/method to ensure what STAYS on my hard drive is only what is being used in the projects? There seems to be no logical reason for keeping every mistake that is otherwise deleted in the overall projects.
there must be... because hand-weeding out every file it too daunting a task to be feasible.....
    THANKS!

    Hi
When you delete a recorded region from the Arrange, Logic gives you an option to 'delete' or 'keep' the underlying audio file. You must've chosen to keep, or you have only been deleting regions which only refer to part of the file, so the whole audio file is still being 'used'.
One method of cleaning up is to go to the Audio Bin, choose Edit:Select Unused, and then Delete.
If you (really) want to tidy up further, you could use the Optimise Files function Audio Bin:Audio Files (but I'd suggest that you read up on that function in the manual to fully understand what it will do).

  • Can we list all the audio files in the mobile throug the midlet application

when i start an application that application should list(show)all the audio files in the mobile .
From that user should play any of the audio file.
is it possible in J2ME ?

    Steps -
    1) Use JSR 75 APIs to access every file on the phone file system.
    2) Apply filter to list only audio files.
    3) Show the list of audio files on UI.
    4) Use MMAPI to play the selected file.

  • How to trigger an audio file using midi...

I'm trying to use the Apple AU Audio File Player to play a 10 second track that's an intro to one of our songs, but the only things that show up under the Parameter Mappings for that channel (the one that the AU Audio File Player is assigned to) are MIDI notes, and none of the midi notes trigger playing the audio file. Is there something I'm missing? Is there any way in Main Stage to play an audio file using a midi trigger?

    seems not a good question

  • Is there some way I can insert and play these additional audio files, accessible via separate button

I am converting a CD-ROM course to an online format with that software.
In the majority of slides created I have used the Import Audio function to insert a primary audio file containing important curriculum information.
This file typically activates the moment you open the slide.
    So far so good.
However, in many slides I also need to insert some secondary audio files.
While the Import Audio function permits me to splice several files into one, this isn't what I want.
Instead, I need to insert one or more additional audio files that can be activated independently via separate buttons on a given slide.
I can in fact do this with the Insert Button function, but in the process a Windows Media Player file opens when I convert the project into HTML.
    My question:
Is there some way I can insert and play these additional audio files, accessible via separate buttons, without creating and opening a Windows Media Player file?
    Thanks

It is hard to assess the situation without sitting at your computer and having a look myself.  First, if you're seeing space savings I doubt all your files are a compressed format.  Frequently if you try compressing a compressed format file such as AAC (don't confuse with AIFF) you will actually find the file gets larger because there is overhead to compression and if it cannot compress any more then you end up just adding overhead on top of no savings.  Second, normally if you zip the iTunes library it would basically make it inaccessible to iTunes and iTunes would make you a brand new library or at least flag all your tracks as missing (as you are seeing ain part).
I don't know what computer you are running, which operating system, which version of iTunes.  Unless they have done something radical in Lion in terms of letting you zip your iTunes folder and still have it functional, you either didn't zip the whole thing, or... I don't know.  One scenario is that somehow your media have been split up and you have them in several locations.  One isn't really part of your library except for 80 tracks, so when you compressed it (and I still am puzzled by the compression unless it was AIFF files you were no longer using), it didn't really make much difference to the playability.  Then you have an untouched library elsewhere.
Use the Reveal In Finder command to see where some of those problem files are located vs. where the playable files are located.
