Applying sap correction notes

I want to apply a note but downloading it with SNOTE it tells me it has no corrections to apply but I should apply its corrections (manually I suppose). How can I do it ?
Thanks. I have heart something about Sap Manager. Should I use it now ?

please check if the correction instructions of this note are valid for you release (your release can be seen in system->status).
the note is not relevant if your system is at higher version than the release of the note.
sometimes, the note is already imported into your system.

  • Apply SAP Security Notes to all components?

    Dear Forum,
Is it possible to take advantage of exploits in installed components although theyre not in use? I mean, when patching SAP Security Notes, does it make sence to patch components which are installed but not in use?
    Rough example:
We have a system with 10 components (according to SPAM status) only 7 of these modules are actively used. Should all 10 receive applicable SAP Security Notes, or would it be enough to patch the ones in use?
I hope someone is able to elaborate on this
    Thanks in advance guys,
    Kind Regards,
    Soren

    HI,
for example reading a file. Let's say there is a bug in a program which allows malicious user to read any file on the application server. Obviously, you want to patch this even that program is not used by normal users. Another example is missing authorization checks for table view. You can have assigned proper authorizations for S_TABU_DIS but if a malicious user can trick a program without authorization check to display data from any table then you have a problem.  A real example could be an issues fixed in note 1558740. Even if you don't use IS-U those FMs are still in your system.
Don't forget that it's good to have multiple layers of protection. So you keep authorizations tight but still you patch all security issues.
    Cheers

  • Regarding applying SAP Note 1172084

    Hi all,
I have applied SAP Note 1172084 - PKMC: Dump DYNPRO_NOT_FOUND for control cycles of type SeqJC through SNOTE  as we are receiving run time error Dynpro Not Found...Even though it didnt solve our problem..
Read in some site that if any changes are done to the screen, we need to manually apply the note (i.e. not through SNOTE), but i didnt find any program or function module in the source code mentioned by the note...
Could you pls. help in solving the problem..
    Thanks,
    Subbu

    > Read in some site that if any changes are done to the screen, we need to manually apply the note (i.e. not through SNOTE), but i didnt find any program or function module in the source code mentioned by the note...
There are corrections in the note, if you scroll down to "correction instructions" for your release and you open it, there are 4 program changes displayed.
If you can apply the note via SNOTE and the program is still dumping I'd open an OSS call.

  • Applying SAP NOTES

    Gurus,
I am a Functional Consultant. I need an SAP Note to be applied to the system which most likely, basis team will do it for me. I just know the Note number. What kind of information do I need to give to the Basis Team .. just the SAP Note number would enough? Or would they need some other information.
Appreciate your help and points would be rewarded promptly

The changes mentioned in the correction instructions of the Note are applied in your system If it relates to a change in a program, the source code gets modified accordingly.. if a new dictionary object like a table or a structure is added, the object  gets created in your system.. this is usually tied to Transport request  and moved from Dev to Qa to Prod as per the normal CTS process.. Occassionally, you might have to open the QA & Prod to apply the correction manually as SNOTE might not be applicable for all Notes.. but I found that to be very rare.. but quite possible..

  • Outdated prerequisit when applying SAP Note

    Hi Experts,
    Ask a noob question here.
When we apply SAP note, SAP may popup the window to download an outdated prerequisit. For example, when I apply note A on release 700, system may popup to let me download note B, whose fix has been included in release 700. In this case, shall I just go ahead to download the old prerequisit in order to apply the new note?
Actually I awlays download the old note in order to apply the new note. There seems to be no impact. But I want to know if there is any offical note from SAP to confirm the approach.
    Many thanks!
    Regards.

your approach is good.. is what you should do.. just an advice.. before going to the SNOTE to implement the notes, try to trace the requirements by yourself, to know what you are applying, read carefully the notes and the pre-requisites, after this apply the notes.. this is what I always do to know the impact..
    Regards..

I need to apply SAP notes for Object TRINT_APPEND_COMM
How to apply SAP Notes? pls guide

    Hello,
    - Transaction SNOTE;
    - click on the box "SAP NOTE download";
    - enter the note number;
    - after the download, the note will appear in the list below; if the note has a blue arrow as a mark, then it is applyable;
    - double click on that arrow;
    - follow the steps on the screen (which will guide you thru the process, creating a Change Request and so on);
    that's it
EDIT: i forgot you must be allowed to apply notes, e.g. you should be a thrusted and authorized user.

  • Apply SAP note attachment

    Hi!
I would like to apply the SAP note attachment, I have downloaded 2 attachments Note922509_470_cust.SAR and Note922509_470_sys.SAR, but have no idea how to apply this. Can any gurus teach me?
    thanks in advance!
    best regards,
    ying ying

if you have snote (tcode) you can directly apply the oss notes, otherwise you have to see the snote changes and apply manually.
if at all you are applying through snote, if there is a change in function module you have to do some manual things. please take care of it.

  • Apply color correction to the sequence, not clip

Is it possible to select all clips in the sequence, then apply color corrector, or brightness/contrast filter _with a specific setting_ to the whole sequence?
Currently when I select all in the sequence, apply a correction through effects > video ... etc, then change a setting, it will only change the setting one clip from the sequence.
I know it is possible to work around this and do it with one clip and then paste attributes, but if there's another way, please let me know.
    Thank you!

    Michel,
That's a great idea, why didn't I think of that? Thank you for your fast reply, I got it near instantly on the iPhone and was laughing at how simple and smart a solution you had!

  • SAP OSS NOTES

    Hi experts!
I don't understand very much how can I know if a SAP note is applicable or not for my system. I know that if I go to System -> Status -> Component Information I can see the realease and level of the support package but in the note I see an specification of the release and version of the support package... that is the part that I don't understand very much... That means if the version is higer in the note and in the system the version is minor the note is applicable? I'm correct?
    Thanks for the help!

    Hi Carlos, pls chk this.
OSS notes describe bugs/issues/problems in SAP software, provide the technical details and correction instructions.
Notes also sometimes cover 'features' (ie things that are not bugs) that cause ambiguous application behavior. Additionally, specific information relevant to releases, SAP strategy (eg when is support to a particular version going to end) regarding its products and so on is also provided via notes.
You have a search portal for SAP Notes which will tell you more about it.
You would a S-user id to logon to the OSS Notes. The S-user id is basically based on the installation number of your SAP system. You can get the user id from your BASIS. Once you get this then logon to this link:
    http://service.sap.com/notes.
    Check this:Re: oss
Also check this document. It has the step by step procedures with screenshots to apply a Note.
    http://www.sappoint.com/basis/snote.pdf
first you should have oss id then you can see oss note here
    https://service.sap.com/notes
    take a look thread
    oss
oss note is a document provided by SAP that described particular issue, usually with symptom, cause(the reason), solution provided, and some other info (correction instruction and code).
oss note has version, date issued, and categorized to application area (e.g BW, CRM, etc).
in practice, when error occured, normally there will be error number and message, that can be used to search oss note which in return may provide possible solutioon. some problem will have short dump, and in the dump, there is suggestion to search oss note with using keywords specified(program name, module name, etc.)
    cheers,
    Hema.

  • Applying the corrections given in the SAPNOTE

    gurus ,
i found a solution to my problem in an SAPNOTE . in that they have given to apply a correction .
but so far i have not applied any correctins .
    how to apply that .
    i need to apply note 1036427 & 1011377  ....
ikindly guide me how to apply the corrections given in that
hoping for your quick and valuable response

    Hi Susin.
I check both the notes , there is no need of manual coding to that as per my knowledge.
These notes are processed by the system itself.
Pls goto SNOTE ( tcode) then in the menu -> goto -> download sap note.
give the sap note number there and click ok , then it will be downloaded and can be seen in  under sap -> New .
Then go into New  and select the sap notes that downloaded and execute.
If there are any manual interventions needed then the system will specify that .
Then after executing the note will come under sap - In processing.
If the green tick mark comes the notes is successfully implemented other a waring or error message comes , if error message comes then click on that you will see what all are missing.
Pls kindly let me know what error messages you are getting after executing the note so that we can help you to implement the note successfully.

  • _Patch level in SAP HANA Note and _Build No in SAP HANA

    Hello Hana Gurus!
I need to know where can I find the patch level in the SAP HANA and SAP HANA Notes
For example, if I want to apply a note
    http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1964428
    there is specified:
    Software Component
    Support Package
    Patch Level
    SAP HANA DATABASE 1.00
    SP069
    2
    SP070
    0
Ok. I read a lot of sources and understand the following:
To know the HANA Studio version:
    Help->About SAP HANA Studio.
    It will be like
    Version: 1.0.27
    Build id: 201205021925 (361805)
Here 1.0.27 means -> 1.0 version and Revision is 27 and Build No is : 361805
Re: From Studio, how to know the  HANA DB Version
That is, if we apply 1964428 note, the system is upgraded to SP069 and SP070. Is that correct?
But what Patch Level means in this (and some other) note (value 2 and 0)?
Where I can check Patch Level in the HANA?
And, what are figures Build No indicate
    UPD:
Here Re: Where we can check Patch leveles in HANA? referred to a certain table "M_HOST_CONFIGURATION". But in my system it does not exist. or tell me where to find it?
Message was edited by: Tom Flanagan

    Hi Kirisetti,
    please findanswers in italics
    1)
I understand the database version and the studio version is not the same thing. But why do they match my system (see picture)? Or still the same thing?
By the way, to see the version of the database I used table SYS.M_DATABASE
A revision is released with all HANA components are part of the revision release and not just HANA DB server. So it is always ideal that you have all HANA components on same version as in your case. However is is technically feasible that you are usinga older version of Studio to connect to a newer version of HANA DB server. so Help-> About Studio would give you version of the studio and "select version from SYS.M_DATABASE" gives you version of the HANA DB server.
    2)
and for the version and patch level
1.0.69.02 would mean HANA DB is on Revision 69 , patch 02
1.0.70.00 would mean HANA DB is on Revision 70
Soultion for the problem is to update your HANA DB to revision 69, patch 2 or Revision 70.
Did I understand correctly, if the note indicated Patch Level = 0, then we simply speak about updating to Revision, implying that no Patch Level? Or how it can be understood?
I'm assuming here you wish to know if you are downloading the right software for the update.
if there is a patch mentioned it is available as "Mantainence Revision <rev no>.<patch no>" for download and if there is no patch level mentioned(patch level = 0) they is avaliable as "Revision <rev no.>". Also update procedure for both Revision and patch is the same.
    3)
Did I understand correctly, the first figure in the Build number (Build id) indicates the Patch Level? How it is possible to interpret the Build number (Build id) more? These figures represent something?
This build number is something that comes out of build repositiory. HANA version mentioned in all notes and guide refer to just the Revision number and patch level currently. You can ignore the build number

We are upgrading from 4.7 to NW 7.0 (SP#5)
SAP will not restart during the phase MAIN_NEWBAS/STARTSAP_NBAS

Thanks Rene, I have updated the ticket with the required information. In the mean time I am interested if anyone else had had a similar problem during an upgrade. We did have an initial error with the crtsidusr command ( setting CLASSICUSERCONCEPT + removing some of the SPCAUT) seemed to fix that. At this point the upgrade failed and we had to manually APYSAPKRN, the log shoewed it wanted the NON UC which was odd as we are including the UC in the upgrade.

Even the OPatch delievered together in the SAP_102052_201102_SOL64.zip file is 10.2.0.4.9.

    Hi,
    I went to
    http://service.sap.com/oracle-download
    then
    Oracle 10.2.0.5
    then
    OPatch
The file I can see there is generic for ALL operating systems and the name is:
    OPatch_10205_Generic_v0.zip
it seems that the version is 10.2.0.5, not  10.2.0.4.9 as you mentioned.
I have downladed it and look at the README:
    Patch summary:
README file for OPatch 10.2.0.5.0, the Oracle Interim Patching Tool.
I'm not installing it, but it seems that the version is not the same as yours.
Is this the one you have downloaded?
Have you installed it properly? => may be you are running an older one
