Applying SearchComponents and SearchOptionSets to Search iViews

Hi All,
I'd really appreciate some help on this one. I've created a custom SearchComponent, SearchOptionSet, and SearchResultSet with the hopes of applying them to a KM Search iView. But I can't find any documentation on how to apply them. So I choose the blanks where I thought they should go.
These are my settings:
Configuration of Search Components=mySearchComponent
Configuration of Search Screen=mySearchOptionSet
Search Result Layout Set=mySearchResultSet
query=ConfigFileName=Navigation.xml&StartPage=SearchPage&Validate=false&ResourceListType=com.sapportals.wcm.SearchResultList&SearchType=ctrlpers
When I Preview the iView I don't get the desired results. Most notably my SearchOptionSet never seems to take effect. I've included the query value, because I have a strange feeling that it might have the power to overwrite the other settings? Or allow alternate way to apply the values? Through Params and possibly the ConfigFile. Can anyone confirm this hunch?
Any help/insight/links would be greatly appreciated.

1)I have changed my query to one you specified above, but this doesn't seem to work. While in my previous setup the OptionSet was ignored but the ComponentSet was applied. With the query only setup both the are ignored.
2)&SearchcomponentName=mySearchOptionSet
(The naming here seems to be counter-intuitive is this a typo on your part or should the optionSet really be assigned to the SearchComponentName field?)
3)Do you know of anywhere I can find documentation for syntax of the query?

Keywords PS CC - Number of photos applied to missing and can't search using keywords

Last night in attempting to coordinate/consolidate the keywords assigned to 40k+ photos by over 4 programs the past 2 years I made an error.
I had MANY photos with keywords Other/Statuary and I wanted to remove the Other part of the hierarchy and just have Statuary under Assigned Keywords.
What I did was create a new keyword for Statuary so I had both the Other/Statuary and just the Statuary under Assigned Keywords.
Then I clicked on Other/Statuary to display all in the Contents panel, Selected All, then applied the new Keyword Statuary and unchecked the Other/Statuary keyword.
What happened is the keyword counted down from 200+ to ZERO and all photos in the Content panel disappeared. Then when the keyword Statuary was unchecked under Assigned Keywords -- it disappeared.
Being late, tired and irritated I continued on thinking I had made an error and I would correct those keywords later.
BAD MISTAKE. I made thing much worse by doing the same thing to several keywords.
So, thinking I would be a "bright fellow" this morning, I deleted the Adobe Bridge Cache to let it rebuild it and copied back ALL my photos from a backup made yesterday when all was well in my world.
Now I have all the keywords listed and they show up in my Contents Panel per photo BUT there is no number to the right of the keyword denoting the number of photos it is applied to and I can't search by a particular keyword.
I had exported my keywords yesterday also and this morning I Cleared and Reimported those keywords.
All looks great and works great but no number of photos per keyword and can't search.
Oh God, please someone help me ????

I reset my custom workspace and all seems to be well now. My keywords now show, the number of photos each applies to and I can again search.

Employee Search iView and dyanmic iViews

We are implementing MSS Business package (mySAPERP 2005). We have a requirement to design a page with Employee search iView ( Team viewer), universal worklist and a report iView. What we are trying to achieve is that if a manager selects an employee in the team viewer the employee profile iviews (General Data and Personal data which are dependent on the pernr that is passed from Team viewer) should appear in the same page replacing universal worklist and the reports iView.If anyone has done this, please share your experience with us. Difference Betw Search iView and KM Search iView

Dear SDN,
I want to know the basic diff betw the Seach iView and KM Search iView.
In EP 7.0..there are two options..one for Search iView and other for KM search iview.

Index options in a search iView

Hello all,
I have made a search iView based on the search iView template.
I have created a new searchComponentSet that contains a 'search_input_indexes'
and a 'search_language'
In my iView I have some check boxes to select languages, and a list with the indexes in which I can perform the search.
My problem is that all the indexes are displayed and selectable in the indexes list. I would like to have only some indexes in this list. How to do this?
I found only a default index field in the searchOptionsSet, but not a list.
Any help is welcome and points will be rewarded.

You have to create a SearchOptionSet "System Administration -> System Configuration -> Knowledge Management -> Content Management -> User Interface -> Search -> Search Options Set"
where you specify the list of indexes you want to use, int the "Search Index IDs" or "Index Groups" parameters

How can I use ONE Text search iView to event/affect mutliple Result Sets?

hello everyone,
i have a special situation in which i have 6 flat tables in my repository which all have a common field called Location ID (which is a lookup flat to the Locations table).
i am trying to build a page with a free-form text search iView on Table #1 (search field = Location ID). when I execute the search, the result set for Table #1 is properly updated, but how do I also get Result Set iViews for Tables #2-6 to also react to the event from Text Search for Table #1 so that they are updated?
i don't want to have to build 6 different text search iViews (one for each table). i just want to use ONE text search iView for all the different result set tables. but, in the documentation and iView properties, the text search iView doesn't have any eventing.

hello Donna,
that should not be a problem, since you are detailw with result sets and detail iviews because custom eventing can be defined for those iviews.
Yes, it says "no records" found because an active search and record selection havent' been performed for it (only your main table does).
So, yes, define a custom event, and pass the appropriate parameters and you should be fine.
Creating a custom event between a Result Set iView and an Item Details iView is easy and works. I have done it.
See page 35 of the Portal Content Development Guide for a step-by-step example, which is what I used.
For my particular situation, the problem I'm having is that I want the Search Text iView's event (i.e., when the Submit button is pressed) to be published to multiple iViews, all with different tables. Those tables all share some common fields, which is what the Search iView has, so I'd like to pass the search critera to all of the iViews.

Is it possible to define a "search from" folder on the search iView? I was thinking about the query option. Any ideas?

Hi Ole,
you probably mean a preset search folder?
The answer is yes.
System Administration -> System Configuration
Left Navigation Panel: Knowledge Management -> Content Management -> User Interface (Show Advanced) -> Search
Starting from the Default Search Dialog Box you can open the Search Option Set of the standard search and define a 'Search Folder' and the 'Search from folder'-Mode (Scope). Mind tooltips of parameters.
You can also define an own Search Option Set for a special Search-iView.

Cursor focus in search iView

Hello together
We integrated the KM search iView in an own navigation element. We are not using the ToolArea search.
When we click on this Search navigation element the search iView is shown but the search field doesn't have the focus for the cursor. For searching we need every time a mouse click moore to put the cursor into the search field.
Can this somewhere be activated, that the search iView field has automatically the focus?
In normal HTML pages this can be done with JavaScript like this:

We have implemented SP20 a couple of month ago but this issue has not been resolved yet.
In fact, when the search iView is shown, it seems like the Search field is getting the focus but somewhat loosing it after a fraction of a second. Now the user may type into the text box but if he uses the Space bar it submits the form.
In other words, if the user does not explicitly set the focus to the text box, the "Space" acts like "Enter" and submits the form.
Any idea?

MSS General Information (Employee Search iview Fetching wrong Manager)

In MSS we have General Information page which has Employee Search iview. This iview display the information in a table which has several columns... (Name, Personal Number, Manager, Position, Staffing Ration, Job... etc)
The problem is under the Manager Section its displaying the wrong Manager Name, it should show the name of manager who has logged in but instead its showing some other manager.
e.g. If David has logged in as a Manager and is searching for employees reporting him then in the employee search iview it show David's name as Manager for all his reportees) But in our case instead of David its showing wrong manager name.
We have checked from functional point of view and the reporting relationship is okay as the manager (David) is able to approve the leave requests and overtime requests raised by his reportees.
Kindly suggest a solution.

Custom Search iView - Portal Runtime Error when in role

Hello,
I have created a custom Search iView based on a standard Search iView, but I have some problems with it.
When this iView is placed inside a page and in the role and when it is being used (eg. user clicks Search), Portal Runtime exception occurs.
Additional information: Exception during PageProcessorComponent.doContent()
When I display this iView in preview mode, everything is fine, there is no errors.
Also when this iView is being accessed through URLiView everything is fine too.
So I think perhaps the problem lies somewhere in the portalapp.xml of this search iview.
Here are the steps which I followed to create a custom search iView:
1. I've imported the following par file: com.sap.km.cm.par.bak and created a project.
2. The project name is: mycompany.km.cm.
2. I've modified propertyapp.xml file so that the "basicsearch" and "search" components have some additional properties.
3. I've exported a par (mycompany.km.cm.par) and deployed it on the server.
4. I've created a search iView based on this par and put it inside a page and a role.
Maybe I'm missing something, maybe there are some additional steps which should be made, for example SecurityArea property in portalapp.xml file or something similar.
Help is very welcome cause I'm stuck with this.
The new properties are: HelpIViewPathToCall, "TagCloudIViewPathToCall, SearchIViewPath,KnowledgeBaseIndexes

Folder option in KM search Iview

Hi All,
I am using KM search Iview, when I click on "Show Options" link in the header, it is showing many option like " Search Scope", "Display Results',"Filter by Properties", and ect..
Now I wanted to customize this search options, for this I choose "Search option set" under "Configuration-> Content Management -> User Interface -> Search ". I can manage to customize the screen to some extent. like enable / disable the properties etc....
Now, I have a problem.... I need to remove the radio button and option for " Folders (and Subfolders)" which have a radio button infront of it,a text area after the name and a browse button.
I dont want this option in "search scope" at all. I need only one option with Indexes. I tried giving default search as INDEX but still the folder option appears. What I need to remove the FOLDER option totall.
Any Idea? Also If I want to change the text or removing input boxes under a category like "Filter by Properties" what I need to do? where I need to make the changes.
Please let me know the solution.
1) remove the folder / browser option from "search scope" category.
2) remove / add new fields under "Filter by Properties" category.

The search from folders can only be customized using the parameter I mentioned. And this parameter needs to be added in the search iview, you are using - not the search option set, nor the search component set.

You will have to enter the predefined properties specifically in the search options set in order to give the end user the possibility to filter by these values.
2.2)
If you want to translate some of the labels from the Search Interface (headings for search components, labels for buttons, etc), you will have to edit the .properties-file I mentioned (and perhaps others).

If you could not remove the links for the Administrator then this might be caused by the fact that the administrator is using a different layoutset than the one, you configured.
If you want to change "size of file, view html links below the individual results / documents", you should go to your search result layout set > collection renderer > displayed properties (single entry in the collection renderer). URL Parameters in KM Search iView not accepting spacial characters

I have created an iView that shows standard search.
When accessing the search iView, I use an url. To specify the search query, I add QueryString=[search query string] to the url.
Problem is that if my search query contains the danish characters æ, ø or å, then they are replaced with �.
I have a text field on a 3'rd party component where user input the search string, and i have tried to encode it with the javascript function escape() and this does not work either. Difference is that the search is now based on escaped characters. The iView does not seem to be able to decode the string again.

I have investigated further now.
It is the KM Search iview that does not handle encoded characteres properly.
When using the standard search function in the portal, same propblem exist.
Steps for recreation:
1) Log in to the enterprice portal using a user that has got the standard search input field and search button. Could be an administrator.
2) In the search input field, write the danish word: skål.
3) Push search button
Search result page is now opened in a new window.
Term is now presented as sk[box]l.
Having a look in the url to the new window, shows that the special character is encoded. Therefore problem is that it is not decoded in the iView.
I also found that "Note 917961 - NW04 CM & Collaboration: SP 14 Patch 5" describes that the problem is solved in patch 2 in SP14. As far as I understand the note.

Position search iView event subscribe

Hi all,
This is an MSS question. I have posted it in the Portal Development forum as well, so please ignore if you have seen it already...
Note 1112733 specifies the namespace and event of the employee search iView for subscription by custom iViews.
Event namespace: urn:com.sap.mss.employeesearch
Event name: selection_changed
I am looking for something similar to subsribe to the Position Search iView event. I believe the iView name is
com.sap.pct.erp.mss.posprofile_positionsearch
OSS note 1410996 contains a reference to this iView, if this is of any help.
The subscribing application is written in WD ABAP. I suppose if there is a means of subscribing to all portal events, it can be queried to look for the specific one? I have the team viewer all set up and working.

FYI - Clicking a position on the position search iView also raises the event:
Event namespace: urn:com.sap.mss.employeesearch
Event name: selection_changed
The data object is of object type S as opposed to P when an employee is selected.
Go figure!!!

Error in KM search iView

Hi All,
I have created a new KM Search iView.
I saw the iView's preview and entered a document's name (giving the folder's name: /documents/myFolder).. but, i got the following error:
<b>AbstractTrexIndex.getLanguagesOfIndexedDocuments: Index does not exist;index=marketing_channel_sales_tools (Errorcode 2007)</b>
In Search Scope >> Show indexes, i have 3 indexes:
1)Marketing
2)marketing_external_channel_sales_tools
3)rooms_test_index
Do i have to delete these indexes, if so how?? create new ones ??

Hi,
   In order to narrow down this problem you should check:
   1. System Administrator-System Configuration->KM->
      Index Administration-> and check these indexs are working. These must be appear in green.
   2. You can create a new one, point to other folder and index. After that try to make a search using only this index.
   3. Also, you can delete the index and try to create again. Using trexadmin tool you can analize it.

I have created Discusiion Forum on Portal.
To implement SEARCH functionality in Forum to search thread
I have taken Following steps::
1) Created Index System Administration - - > System Configuration - - > Index
Administration - -> create Index and assigned Data Sourse aon the path below)
Content Administration - -> KM Content - - >Collaboration - - >Discussions-->109b(this is folder where threads of Forum resides)
2) Created KM Search Iview search proceeds very well BUT my Issuee is
<b>1) In Iview i have to Manually Specify Index after clicking on Show Option and Index Groups
How can i have default Entry for this Index that it automatically selects the required Index for searching for that which property in Iview i have to set ??
2) I am haveing FIVE Rooms in my Discussion Forum so i have created five Index pointing Five diffrent location because threads for each five Rooms are located in five diffrent location.
Is theare any way with which i can have all the threads of my Discussion Forum ie all five Rooms in the same folder so that i can create one INDEX and assign path of one folder to that INDEX as Data Sourse.</b>

use the concept of Taxonomies..I had a similar scenario where I used taxonomies to simplify the hierarchy of folders in KM for better search capabilities...you have example and query based taxonomies....let me know if that helps...
