Applying star rating/color label to "Current Pick" in Stack View mode

Is it possible to apply a star rating/color label to the "Current Pick" in Stack View Mode? Thanks.

is there a way of applying both the five-star rating, AND the green color label at the same time, with one keyboard shortcut, or otherwise?
If you need to do this in exactly one action, then I don't think there is a way to do this. Of course, if you want to accomplish this in two actions, you can select all the 5 star images, and then apply the Green color label to them all in one step, but that isn't what you asked for.
Is there any way to make my five-star rated photos more visually prominent in the grid view?
Not that I know of
ANother thought is to create a smart collection of your 5 star images, and then you can use the smart collection to view the 5-star images (none of the other images will appear)

  • Star rating (color change)

I find the start rating to be working well. Could it be possible to introduce the possibility to change the actual color of the stars ?
I'll explain myself. When applying stars, the color is a sort of white/gray and no stars means a grayed out shape. I find it difficult to read sometimes, (is it 2, is it 3, etc.). Would it be possible to set the default color of an active star to a gold like color or to allow it being customised ?

Interesting idea!  This forum is primarily focused on the new features and bugs in the beta release, so it'll be closed when the beta finishes.  The best place to get your requests considered is the Feature Request forum http://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family because others can also add their votes so Adobe can see which requests are most popular, and the requests can be easily tracked.  They stand a much better chance of getting attention there too.

  • Can I share "Ratings" and "Labels" with another person?  When I send the photos to another person they cannot "see"  any stars or colored label ?

Can I share "Ratings" and "Labels" with another person?  When I send the photos to another person they cannot "see"  any stars or colored label  that I set?

You can convert your file to a .dng file and that will encapsulate the meta data into the file instead of it being in a separate side car file!

  • Grid View: Flags, Rating, Color Label read only? / Mark Images Read only?

    Hi
I'd like to see the flag-status, rating and color label assigned to an image as cell icons. But if I show them as Cell Icons, I am also able to change them, which happens to me quite often accidentally when I click into the frame of a image to change selections.
Is it possible to show these markers for each image without being able to change them in the frame? I would be quite happy being able to change them from the tool bar, but still being able to see them on the single image.
    Related to this:
Is it somehow possible to mark images as read only, so that further changes (development, metadata etc.) can be made impossible? This would be nice for older images, which have been processed completely and should stay that way, inhibiting accidental changes to images. Sometimes it is difficult to even notice when one accidentally changes metadata on an image.
    Thanks for your thoughts

Yes it's a bug. I see it on Mac platform.

  • How can I search my photos by my applied star rating?

I see how to mark my photos with a rating star.  But then if I want to bring up all my 3 star rated ones, for example, I don't see how to do that.  I must be missing something.  I'm using iPhoto 9.3.2.   10.7.4 OS

You can create a Smart Album to view all your 3 Star photos. Go to iPhoto Menubar/File/New Smart Album. Set it up like below

  • Is it possible to change star rating color?

    ...in Numbers.
I tried "Text colors" (doesn't work), and yes a "star" is not some text... but if it'd be HTML, the color would work on a special character :-)

You can't, at least not in the iOS version of numbers

  • I can select a rating and a color label for my images, but I can not sort by rating and color label.

I can select a rating and a color label for my images, but I can not sort by rating and color label. when I click on the filter drop down, color label is not one of the options.  how do I get both ratings and color lables as an option to sort with.

You can Filter (not sort) on both color label and rating if you want, open the Filter Bar with the backslash key, then click on Attribute, and then select the stars and color label of interest. If you really meant "sort" and not filter, then you can't do this in Lightroom.

  • Applying a rating to multiple images

    Hi all,
this would be a rather embarassing question had I not looked for an answer for so long.
I can't stand the way Julieanne Kost edits picks and rejects. I don't know any pros who edit that way personally, and it seems so ineficient; except maybe for stock shooters, which I am not.
Is there a way to apply ratings -stars or color labels specifically, to mutliple images in Lightroom 3.5? I've been using Lightroom since 1 and haven't come up with a sloution, and it ends up costing me days of editing on longer shoots.
If I'm trying to organize different lighting scenarios it is a HUGE waist of time to go through using an actual keystroke to flag the different scenes (think events, weddings, or the like) only ot have to go back and then Sync the curves between them; as well as there somtimes (often) not being enough different flagging methods to even make that an option.
I have a bad feeling the program just doesn't allow for such a useful function (despite having many truly useless functions touted), but any help would be appreciated.
    -Kurt

You can apply colors and flags and ratings to multiple photos selected in the thumbnail bar in Library mode, but not Develop mode, unless Auto Sync is switched on, but becareful and undo Auto Sync afterwards so you don’t sync all sorts of edits unless you mean to.
If you’re meaning something more complicated, please explain.  I have not watched any Kost videos to infer something from those.
As far as running out of colors and ratings and flags, you can add keywords and filter on those.

  • Metadata Label and Color Labels

As I wanted to sort my pictures on subject I chose to put the name in the Metadata Label Field as the Label Text is available for that purpose (I would have expected the caption text for this purpose). When I put a text in the Metadata Label field a white color label field is shown in grid view below the thumbnail but a white color label is mentioned nowhere in the Lightroom documentation. The sorting works perfectly but when I apply a color label to that picture the text that was put in the Metadata Label field is replaced by the name of that color label so that the sorting is disturbed!
One way to overcome this is making the caption text to be used for sorting, another to prevent applying a color label name to the Metadata Label field. So I don't know if this is to be considered a bug report or a feature request.
By the way some of the other reasons for the 2.1 version are clearly working as I've noticed.

Thanks Don, I've never used color labels either but as I didn't know that the white label was due to this I deleted all of them (fortunately only in one collection) and thereby also deleted all Label texts!
I am now using 2.1 also but the Color Label shown in the footer of the thumbnail stays white.
Anyway it would be nice to be able to use Caption text for sorting as this is useful in other respects too!
And mentioning the White Color label in the documentation would be helpful also.

  • "Date picker" in report - - View source shows no label for the date picker

    Hi
In one of my reports, I am using multiple types (textarea/text/date picker/select list)
I wanted to use a javascript based on the label, but I do not see "<label>" for Date picker in the view source due to which my Javascript fails.
    Snippet of view Source:
    <td class="t3data" ><label for="f08_0001" class="hideMe508">CATEGORY</label><textarea name="f08" rows="4" cols="16" wrap="VIRTUAL" id="f08_0001">EMPLOYEE INDUCTION</textarea></td>
    <td class="t3data" ><span class="lov"><input type="text" name="f11" size="15" maxlength="2000" value="29-FEB-08" style="padding-right:5px;" id="f11_0001" /><script type="text/javascript">
As you can see above, we have a "label for" for the text area but not for the date picker
Is there a reason for the same?
    Thanks

    Hi,
OK - the headers attribute should also help as these will identify the correct cells. You would need to know the html tags used within each cell for each datatype.
Would using cloneNode help you? It's a method of creating a copy of an entire row in a single instruction

  • Automator: Apply Color Label and Copy to Folder

I'm trying my hand at Automator, and I need help with one of my workflows (⇪). Basically, it's a service (accessible via right-click) that will apply a color label on an image file, and then copy that image file to a corresponding folder with the same color label. My current version works fine, except for the fact that I had to create seven versions to accommodate all seven colors.
Is there any way to turn the color into a variable? I want the workflow to prompt me for a color, and then use that choice to run a search for the appropriate folder. I'd rather not hard code the color choice into separate services that all do the same thing.
Also, the service currently assumes that it will run fast enough before I can deselect the target file. I'm sure it's possible that the folder search could lag out while I select another file, and the service will ultimately copy the newly selected item, rather than the initial target. Is there a way to ensure the service acts on whatever was selected when it was first triggered?
I don't know AppleScript beyond copying-and-pasting other people's codes, so that limits my automation quite a bit. I don't know how to prompt for a label index choice and then feed the result into a find function. I also don't know how to record the file path of the selected item, and then feed that into the copy function at the end to ensure it doesn't copy the wrong file.

Typically a list of items is passed to a workflow, so you will usually (depending on what you are doing with the items) need to step through the items in that list. If there is only one destination folder with the target label, you can just search for it, otherwise you will need to specify the destination in some other way.
The following Service workflow example assumes that there is only one destination folder that has a given label color. It gets the label index of one of the input items and finds a folder with the same index at a specified base location (to limit the search range).
    1) Input items are automatically passed to an application or service, otherwise another action to get FInder Items can be used
    2) *Label Finder Items* (show the action when the workflow runs)
    3) *Run AppleScript* (paste the following script)
    <pre style="
    font-family: Monaco, 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;
    font-size: 10px;

  • Why doesn't the "Command Number" keyboard shortcut apply the colored label to the selected image?

Why doesn't the "Command Number" keyboard shortcut apply the colored label to the selected image?  The similar keyboard shortcut to assign stars works, but the shortcut to assign a label color doesn't?

Just to be sure they haven;t been reassigned in your Aperture go to Aperture->Commands->Customize then in the search box in the upper right hand corner enter color.
You should see the keyboard shortcuts and the corresponding add label commands.
If they are set then quit Aperture move you preference file to the desktop and restart Aperture. The instructions for moving the preference file can be found at Aperture 3: Troubleshooting Basics
    Post back the results

  • Lightroom Mobile - Color and Stars rating

In order to be able to use LR mobile as an pre-selection tool we urgently need stars & color rating options for Lightroom Mobile. Can't believe it was left out while designing v1.0. This is just another data field. Apart from the opportunities to retouch the photos which are pretty useless atm, I can wait for them to evolve, the rating stuff is essential to really fall into workflow. So dear LR mobile team, efforts in adding stars and color ratings are really much appreciated. Well and smart collection would be nice as well!
To add some praise. I love the idea and I appreciate that the sync is running pretty good and also the app itself is running smoothly even though the adjustment interface is far apart from being an eye candy. But I would say it's aligned to be an working tool instead of being a feast for the eyes.
So I'm looking forward and hoping more rating features appearing on the horizon soon.
    Cheers,
    LX

Thanks Tom for your kind reply!! I'm also Product Manager in Product Development for a big company and being in charge of realiziing convergent use cases across the entire device spectrum and therefore totally agree with your approach to get into things. My complaint wasn't meant to be ungrateful it was just the sight of an user which has set up use-cases and workflows to efficiently get the job (even it's a hobby) done. So hope you got it right. I've experienced Lightroom and Photoshop over the past few years a really great tools, but from my point of view, Adobe sometimes is focused to much on being amazing algorithm developers and less customer workflow supporters. I'm really spending a lot of time with my photography partner (also a reallife Product Manager) discussing what could have been from a simple workflows point of view. I'm pretty sure there is quite a lot of wishes our there. From obviousness to edge cases, but we always came to certain points where presumed little efforts would make a huge difference.
To come to an end. I'm looking forward to see star and color rating (and probably support for smart galleries) hopefully very soon. Thank you guys for the move to bring Lightroom to the tablet!
If you and the team are interested on more precise feedback on LR-Mob and probably Lightroom workflows I would be delighted to provide you with.
So if you are interested, just pick me up, I've dropped you a linkedin request.
    All the best from overseas,
