Applying time adjustment twice.

I guess the time adjustment works on what is showing, not on the original photo time. I used Batch Change twice on some photos because some of them weren't imported with the time adjustment, so I thought, what the heck I'm just telling it the camera time (always UTC) and the local time zone, so if I do it again it shouldn't matter (I'm assuming Aperture is looking at the original photo time capture). But Aperture does the shift twice. I see this as a bug, but maybe my thinking is wrong.
This happens frequently for me because I use two camera's and also my girl friends pictures, and when I'm importing I sometimes forget to set the time adjustment.
Update:
I dug into the library and the original photo has not been change and "Date Time Original" and "Date Time Digitized" are still the correct UTC zone. (But we all knew that since Aperture never changes the original.) Why can't I use this as the basis for resetting the "Image Date"?

Hi all,
A developer came to me saying that he put a 11gr2 table into default compression mode which was already in default compresssion mode. After that 32GB of table got compressed to 26GB. How is this possible? Is it that it is double compressed?
Right now I do not have access to that database nor do I know how to find what happed there. Only thing I can think of is that , the table was originally put in compression in 11gr1 and then again applied compression in 11gr2,so some algorithm enhancement might have done this.
Any thoughs?
with this I am also wondering what happens when enahancements are introduced in any feature I mean let say in case of compression if a algorithm enhanced will the enahancement be applied on the whole table or the data that will be inserted/updated post such upgrade?multiple compression option available in 11gR2 with different compression level.

and Compression can occur while data is being inserted, updated, or bulk loaded into a table.

  • Applying an adjustment layer / or adjustment TO a layer in a grayscale image is NOT happening!

I'm a long time user of Photoshop, but must admit to being stumped here. I have a very high resolution scanned image from a B&W antique engraving, and I'm trying to "open up" some of the lines to bring out the details in the engraved image while keeping the image as close to the "line art" B&W of the original as possible.
I have the image now "cleaned up," having taken out the yellow color casts, etc., and have a grayscale 8-Bit image in the Photoshop file.
I've discovered that I can use an adjustment TO the layer itself, or an adjustment layer on the layer in the grayscale image to take away some of the density and "open up" the line art a little, so it has better details by effectively "choking" the dark lines back to make them less thick and dense.
    Here's the thing, though:
When I tried making the adjustments via image > adjustments > levels DIRECTLY ON the layer (instead of using and adjustment layer to achieve this), every time I hit the OK button to accept the adjustments I've made that way, the dialog box closes and the layer seems to revert to looking just the same as it did BEFORE I opened the dialog box to adjust the layer!
When I try making the adjustments by using an adjustment LAYER, and I try to save the Photoshop image as a TIFF file, I find that when I open the saved TIFF image, the layer adjustment I'm seeing in the source Photoshop file has NOT been applied, and the image in the saved TIFF file looks just as dense as the original, unadjusted image in the Photoshop file!
What am I doing wrong here?  I want to be able to save out that adjusted image as a TIFF file to use in designs, but I cannot seem to save it as a TIFF that actually CONTAINS or reflects these adjustments after having MADE the adjustments!
    Whazzup?!!

Well, I took the layered TIFF file you gave to me and opened it in Photoshop, reviewed the adjustment layer in there and its effect -- thanks: you get what I was trying to do -- and then saved it out as a flat TIFF image, and when I reopened it, voila!  it looked like the adjustment had indeed been applied.  So this IS a real head-scratcher indeed.
I've now tried going back to my source file and doing the same thing.  One thing that I notice is that when I do the Save As of the TIFF with the adjustment layer in it (OR the PSD file, for that matter), when I go to Save YOUR file, the Layer Compression Options are grayed out, but when I go to Save MY file, the Layer Compression Options are active.  I've tried now saving both with RLE layer compression AND As a Copy ("discard layers and save a copy"), and neither works.
I noticed, too, that your file had the layer below the adjustment layer still as a "Background," instead of a named layer, so I went back and applied an adjustment layer to a copy of my TIFF file, leaving the image in its layer as a Background layer, and still this did not work.
The only other difference I saw between your TIFF file and mine, is that mine contained transparency, as I've silhouetted away a portion of the image to isolate the central image of the scanned engraving. But even when transparency is not a factor (i.e. I go back and start with a flattened, nontransparent image layer of my TIFF file with a single Background Layer, and I apply the adjustment layer to that, I get the compression options grayed out on Save, and STILL the saved TIFF image I get out of it has "reverted" to the unadjusted appearance.

  • Is there a way to apply Time Remapping to multiple clips simultaneously?

Is there a way to apply Time Remapping to multiple clips simultaneously? I'd like to uniformly speed up and slow down two different clips that are playing in a picture-in-picture setup. I’m hoping there’s a more elegant way to sync them up than just editing their Time Remapping functions individually (I already tried using an Adjustment Layer. It didn’t work).

you can try nesting the two clips together, then control the time remapping of the nest.

  • I have burned to my external blu ray burner 3 times, but twice ended up with glitches in the project. now it stops at 59% and won't finish sharing. How do I get it to finish sharing?

I have burned to my external blu ray burner 3 times, but twice ended up with glitches in the project. now it stops at 59% and won't finish sharing. How do I get it to finish sharing?

It's a complex project and there are a lot of possibilities. Among them is the length; there are a number of reports of projects that are approaching 2 hours failing to burn.
If it's a question of jarring Create Disk into action, one thing that has worked for some users is simply to click on and the Apply button (s) in the Settings pane of the Blu Ray Share window and then hitting Cancel. This can be tested by duplicating your project and selecting a tiny section of your sequence and exporting. Change the Output Device to Hard Drive and see whether Create Disk successfully writes a disk image.
You can also  check that a specific clip isn't rendering properly. Since the process got to 59%, it may just mean that the burn couldn't be initiated by Create Disk – or it may indicate a problem with a clip toward end of your sequence. (If you can check the log, there may be something useful in there.)
Use the duplicated project and this time set a range for the last 30 minutes or so of the project and export it, using the Blu Ray destination. Again, set Output Device to HD and see whether it will complete.
    Good luck.

  • How to apply time series function on physical columns in OBIEE RPD

    Hi,
I know a way to apply time series function(Ago and ToDate) by using existing logical columns as the source. I have set the chronological key and created time dimension. In the expressiion builder for the same Time Dimension appears at the Top so that we can use its level.
But I couldn't apply a time series function when i have to create a logical column using physical columns. In the expression builder for the same, Time dimension does not appear in the list. Neither can i use any column from the time dimension. Please let me know a way to do it.
    Thanks.

Time series functions are - by design and purpose - only valid for derived logical columns and not useable inside physical mappings.
If you want / need to do it on a physical level, then abandon the time series functions and do it the old-school way with multiple LTS instances.

I am trying to use the brightness adjustment on a grayscale photoshop CS6 file.  The preview shows the adjustment working and changes the brightness, but when you click to apply the change, it does not apply the adjustment.  I have run into this problem before, although rarely, with some other files over the years and with earlier versions of CS.  I would like to know how to overcome this problem?

Make sure you are viewing your image at 100%. At smaller views, pixels and layers and the way they interact are approximate interpolations and won't show you the actual pixel-for-pixel changes.

  • NI 1772 camera exposure time adjustment resolution

What is the exposure time adjustment resolution capability for the NI 1772 camera?  I'm getting only 10ms.  Can I get 5 or even 1ms resolution?

    Hi Rob,
I am unclear what the problem you are seeing is. Vision Builder AI does not appear to impose any restrictions on the granularity of the exposure time. You can put any value with precision down to sub-microsecond levels (no need to go by units of 10 microseconds).
As for the changes in intensity vs exposure time, keep in mind that image sensors and the hardware that reads them don't necessarilly behave linearly and so you may not see such a linear relationship in the data. While you said that you saw no change in intensity from 70us to 80us, were you looking at a single pixel or an average of the entire sensor? If you average it over the whole sensor I think you'll see the difference (although it might be small and less than a single count).

  • +/- Badge for 'Apply Auto Adjust Tones' Preference setting.

Okay, in V1.1 a User can now, in Preferences check to 'Apply Auto Adjust Tones'. ONly thing is the Develop Adjustment Badge +/- is not applied so it is easy to forget that one may have intentialally or mistakenly set this preference.
It would be nice if, when this Preference is checked the bBadge is applied, just as it is, if set in Quick Dev or Develop on a case by case basis.
Might resolve some confusion. Or if this is by design, maybe a special Auto Adjust Badge could be added.
Is Reset supposed to set back Auto Adjust applied by the Preference or can one only revert the image in History if applied with the 'Apply Auto Adjust Tones' Preference setting?

  • EXIF time adjustment extension

Currently LR allows only for some kinds of time adjustments in selected sets of images, but in situations in which more than one person, or more than one camera are being used in the same event, the problem is often that the time recorded by the cameras might be off sync in relation to each other.
I would like to suggest an extension to deal with this type of situations. I would like to be able to say something to the effect: Image A1234.raw Camera A was shot after B3456.raw camera B. LR should than take the exif times from A1234 and B3456 and find out the time offset to be applied on A1234, or even on a selected set of images made with a camera A.
Currently I use Exiftool to do it manually, throw all images out from LR and reimport them after the EXIF adjustment, because "sync folder" does not reflect changes done to exif time by Exiftool..

There are several known bugs relating to the way LR handles the time and date fields.

  • ImageX slow apply times

I have been working on transitioning our company over to using ImageX to create and deploy images, however we recently ran into a snag. When we tested out the process on our Dell E6440 laptops, it took anywhere form 40 to 70 min to apply the image. The
WIM file is around 11 GB, so there is absolutely no reason is should take this long.
We have since tried imaging on several other models, and our E6410 laptop took just 20 min. Better, but still not down to where we would like. We then moved on to desktops. our new 7020 is taking 32 min, as is the 7010, but our old 790 finishes in under 10
min. The real kicker though is that we tested out applying an image using Symantec Ghost, and that finished in around 13 min for each system. So our issue doesn't seem to be network related. We have tried adjusting network drivers, and setting the NIC speed
to 1GB/full duplex, as well as all kinds of throttling adjustments. The apply process starts out very fast, but after 3 or 4 minutes it slows down significantly, eventually slowing to a crawl.
I have built a 32 and 64 bit version of WinPE 3.0, but they both seem to take the same amount of time. The only piece that affects how long it takes to apply an image seems to be the actual machine itself. Since I have the latest drivers I could find in my
WinPE image, I wouldn't think that would be the culprit, but at this point I am at a loss. Any thoughts on why ImageX is taking so long, or why it's so different for each model? If you need more info please let me know.

    Hi,
I noticed that you have inject drivers in WinPE.
I considered whether this issue happened during installing drivers. As I known, if the drivers in PE failed to install on current PC, it will find proper drivers from Update.
Let's check the setupapi.setup.log under C:\Windows\Inf in your Dell E6440 laptops, to see the source of installing drivers.
You can also upload this log for our research.

  • How to apply Time Remap to multiple clips simultaneously

Quite often after trimming many different clips for a wedding video I will then want the majority of them slowed down to a 50% speed. I know how to apply the Time Remap Speed % change in the Motion Tab, but have yet to figure out how to make the change to multiple clips simultaneously.
    Thanks for your help!

You can apply a speed change from one clip to multiple clips by copying the first one, then pasting attributes (option + V, then select speed from the list) onto as many clips as you have selected.
Just be aware that this will ripple your timeline by extending all of your clips. FCP keeps the original out point of the source clip, not the out point of each cut on the T/L.

  • Any way to apply Twist effect twice in opposite directions?

I am trying to draw a sun-like shape. I started with a star polygon and apply the Twist effect. That gets me pretty good arms on the sun, but I'd like for something a bit more flame-like, so I'd like to get the arms to now bend back in the opposite direction. Is there any way to use or modify the Twist effect so that I can apply it a second time but bend further out in the opposite direction? Or is there some other good way to get the rotation along all the arms that someone can suggest?

One way is this. Start with a triangle and modify its anchor points as shown below.
Take the Rotate tool and Copy Rotate that object around a common rotation centre.
    Add a circle.
Select all and apply Pathfinder Unite. Change fill colour.

  • ICM Server Time Adjustment

    Dear All,
We have the Hosted IPCC 7.0 Setup, As we understand the time synchornized with the Domain Controller timing,
When ever we would like to adjust the time 1 or 2 minutes difference we are getting the following error on the NAM router.
Peripheral CVP_PG1_PIM5 (ID 5004) switched to half-hour 32 approximately 161 seconds before the central controller.
Peripheral CVP_PG1_PIM2 (ID 5001) switched to half-hour 32 approximately 161 seconds before the central controller.
We have understood that above mentioned peripheral (CVP Call Servers) timing got changed but none of the ICM machines timing affected.
Due to this problem we are getting the above error. Any body experienced the same kind issue, Kindly share your experience / work around / best practise.
    Thanks in Advance.
    Manivannan

If everything is set to sync their time to the domain, the best thing to do is to change the time on the DC, and let everything change on its own (which it seems you've done).
The message you see is Informational, not necessarily an error.  It is just an indication that your ACD reporting may be slightly off vs. ICM reporting.
As you see, the CVP boxes will change time 'immediately' when it gets a time change message from the domain.
The ICM servers (rtrs, pgs, etc.) will not 'jump' their time ahead/back by the two minutes.  One of the functions of MDS on these servers is to manage ICM time.  ICM time will 'drift' faster or slower by 10% until MDS time matches the system (domain) time.  This is to prevent jumping backward/forward by such large increments.
I.e. if you change your domain time by six minutes, it'll take an hour for ICM time to 'drift' and eventually match the domain time.
IOW - the system is working as designed, and you really shouldn't do anything other than what you did.

  • How to apply an adjustment, make edits, then delete the adjustment (but keep the edits)?

I've got a photo that was shot at a crooked angle which I tried correcting using the Straighten tool in CS5 Extended but the straightened version crops out far too much of the image for my liking.  So I manually rotated and cropped the photo so that it's straight and still includes what I want it to but of course I was left with large white spaces on all four corners of the photo.  After a lot of work I was able to fill in all the white spaces manually using the clone stamp and it looks fine the way it is now on my monitor but when the image is lightened even slightly many obvious cloning flaws begin to show and I'm afraid that people with monitors that display the image lighter will be able to see the obvious cloning work I did.
So what I'd like to do is apply a layer or mask or filter that uses the Shadows/Highlights feature to lighten the image enough to expose everything and then use that lightened over-exposed version to make the necessary fixes with the clone stamp tool and fix all the flaws that show when the image is lighter -- then, after having fixed the cloning flaws, I'd like to get rid of the Shadows/Highlights layer/mask/filter so that the photo goes back to its original exposure, except this time with the flaws fixed.  I'm still fairly new to CS5 and I haven't found a way to do this yet.  So far every time I apply Shadows/Highlights using a layer or filter I either can't do the cloning work on the lightened image or I can but then it won't let me get rid of the Shadows/Highlights after the cloning work is done.
Is there any way around this?
Thanks in advance for any help!

Try using the new Edit - Fill - Content Aware feature to fill corners exposed by the rotation.  Select first, taking a few pixels of the image as well in the selection, then try the fill.  You may need to touch things up a bit after, but I'm betting it will get you there more quickly than with manual cloning.
I tried this but unfortunately kept getting the error: "Could not fill because there's not enough data to fill it in a Content-Aware manner."
My solution is a custom bright color profile that I toggle with Ctrl + Y which is a shortcut for Color Proofing.
    Here's how to do it.
Edit > Color Settings (Shift + Ctrl + K). In the Working Spaces section, using the RGB menu, scroll up and choose Custom RGB...
For the name type myBrightRGB , change the Gamma to 0.75, and press OK
From the same RGB menu, scroll up and choose Save RGB...  and save the profile in this location C:\Windows\System32\spool\drivers\color
Click the Cancel button in the Color Settings
With an image open, go to View > Proof Setup > Monitor RGB, then View > Proof Setup > Custom...  and from Device to Simulate menu choose myBrightRGB profile and press OK.
From now on toggle the Color Proof with Ctrl + Y to edit your image in the prefered color space.
This is also a perfect solution for checking how images will look on overbright miscalibrated displays.
Sounds like a great solution, however after following all those steps I'm not seeing an option for "myBrightRGB" anywhere in the drop down menu next to Device to Simulate.  I tried restarting Photoshop, still not there.  I did notice that in the C:\Windows\system32\spool\drivers\color folder that "myBrightRGB.csf" was the only csf file in there -- all the rest of the files in that folder are ICC files.  Not sure if that makes a difference as far as this is concerned.  When I go to View > Proof Setup > Custom, the Customize Proof Condition window has an option to "Load..." and I tried selecting the myBrightRGB file that way but it'll only load .PSF files.  Is there something I'm missing?
