Appointments in GMT

Hello all
Mac OS X Yosemite. Recently purchased a new MBP with Yosemite pre-loaded I started to noticed all of my appointments are now in GMT.
My e-mail provider is Microsoft Office 365 (never had this problem with Mavericks) that I connect to using Mail.app and Calendar in the System Preferences for E-mail. I am also using iOS 8.1.
Regardless of how the appointment was created either on iOS 8.1 or on Mac's Calendar strange enough if created through Office 365 web mail interface the appointment stays in CST (my default time zone) it gets saved as Chicago for time zone then when I refresh Calendar it changes to GMT.
On iOS I have the time zone support turned off then when reading suggestions turned it on with Chicago as default. That didn't help.
I checked Office 365 settings, the default time zone is CST.

**APPLE FIX AND SOLUTION TO GMT CALENDAR ISSUE**
Here are the instructions for how how to fix the calendar events reverting to GMT time zone:
Settings
General
Reset
Reset All Settings
Once rebooted, the issue will be fixed. Note:
This will NOT delete any of your date data or media
Will ONLY delete your ringtone and any wallpaper
Hope this helps.

  • Iphone 5C setting appointments in GMT time zone, not my time zone

Why is my iPhone 5C now recording my calendar appointments in GMT time, not my time zone. I started happening a few weeks ago. I just updated the iOS to version 8.1.2 and it is still happening. Any suggestions?

See this thread, ongoing for several months: iOS 8 Calendar on iPhone showing GMT times for new events.

  • Iphone appointments are showing up in GMT time instead of EST

New iphone 6 plus that has 8.1 update is downloading all MS exchange appointments to GMT time when everything is entered in EST time.  I deleted exchange account and reestablished it and now all imported appointments in right time slot but GMT time is listed.  All exchange appointemts on PC outlook and OWA date is correct and hasn't changed just the iphone calendar times and all are in GMT not.  The iphone is set to New York time zone and icloud is also Eastern time zone so is it a bug with apple.  MS support says it is with Apple.

I meet the same problem with the following configuration:
    Mac OS X: 10.9.5
    iTunes: 11.4.18
    iPhone 5s : 8.0.2.
Another workaround consists in synchronizing the device with the USB cable.
However, I don't have any problem with my iPad 1 and iOS 5.1.1.

  • ICal and time zone stamps?

Apologies that this is long. It's three questions about trouble I've recently encountered using iCal.
I imported 80+ appointments into iCal from a .ics file created by Oracle Calendar.
    1. The .ics file did not contain any time zone info, and iCal associated each of the imported appointments with GMT, despite the Mac's zone set to "Denver" in the Date & Time preference pane and iCal's time zone set to "America/Denver". Why doesn't iCal associate unassigned appointments with its own time zone?
    2. Each of those appointments appeared in iCal at the correct local time, despite being associated with GMT. That is, with iCal's zone set to "America/Denver" I would have expected an item imported as, e.g., 10:00 GMT to show up at 17:00 in the iCal window. But none of them did--they all appeared as if they were MST, but with GMT stamps, and I don't understand why.
    3. I didn't actually find out these items were associated with GMT until after I synced with my Palm Tungsten E. All of the items imported as GMT were shifted 7 hours on the Palm. So I went back to iCal and for each and every one of the imported appointments I changed the time zone to "floating" and then "America/Denver". (If I went straight from GMT to MST the appointment jumped 7 hours back in time, and I got tired of this.)
After that process, every event in iCal was associated with MST. I then synced with the Palm and found that, to my surprise, the imported events still showed up on the Palm as if they were GMT, i.e., shifted forward 7 hours. I should add that I didn't merge, I told the sync conduit to erase the Palm's contents.
Back to iCal. I used "Back up Database..." and "Revert to Database backup...", then sync, telling conduit to erase Palm's contents. No change.
Back to iCal. I select one of the troublesome events, "cut" it to the clipboard, and then paste to bring it back. After a sync that one event shows up correctly on the Palm, i.e., as MST as intended.
The question at the end of a long #3 is, if an event is imported with the wrong time zone stamp, why does it retain that stamp despite being manually changed to a different time zone?
I know the knowledge base has an article on incorrect time zone stamps, and that a possible fix is to export the entire database and then import to a new calendar. I didn't find this out until recently, and it doesn't address iCal's behavior so much as provide a workaround.
    PowerMac G5 DP 2.0 GHz   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

After looking more closely at the .ics files exported by Oracle Calendar I see that events are exported as if they were GMT; iCal is, indeed, showing the appointments at the correct local time. This makes my first two questions irrelevant.
However, question #3 still remains: why or how does the original GMT stamp persist after manually setting an event's time zone to local time, "America/Denver"?

  • IOS 8.1.2 update wrong time zone in my calandar

Since the update 8.1.2, my iPone is showing all new appointments as GMT time, but the times are wrong each time. I altered them individually and it returns to the good time. In "settings" under calendars, the "Time Zone Override" is selected. So I forced it to the Time zone without any success. It steals in time zone GMT even if I overwrited the time zone. I've tried turning off and repeat the same steps. Same issue. All the dates were created in GMT. I have seen that I'm not the only one having the same issue. Do you have any solution ? Is there a way to communicate with Apple teeling them there is a big issue with the calander? Can you tell me how I can reach them?
    Thanks

Quite the same problem here, GMT, UTC.......
Why when they do an update they don't check it completely???

  • Outlook Client recurring appointments time zone / GMT offset problem

I will try to describe this with text, although it's a very visual problem.  I added a post to my blog with
it so I could include pictures.  If you think you need pictures to understand the text below, please review that entry.  Please note, the one appointment instance cited below, is an example, there are many others with this same problem,
and it only happens with recurring appointments.
    Relevant System Information:
    Windows 7 Utlimate
    Office 2010 Professional Plus (14.0.6023.1000 64-bit)
    Exchange services hosted by Microsoft.
Android HTC Inspire 4G also configured as exchange active sync client.
    Issue Description:
I have a specifications meeting that is scheduled for Tuesday mornings (every 2 weeks) at 8:30 am.  In the body of the appointment, it even has this text spelled out.  "When: Occurs every 2 weeks on Tuesday effective 11/23/2010 from 8:30
AM to 11:30 AM (UTC-05:00) Eastern Time (US & Canada)." as an indicator of the actual appointment time.  The problem is that one day, several weeks after this appointment had been sent to me, Outlook 2010 decided that it was really at 1:30 PM.
Since that time it's been showing incorrectly on my calendar at 1:30 PM.   So, I recognized almost immediately that this was a 5 hour difference, which happens to also be my timezone offset (except that I'm currently in daylight savings time -- so
    it's really a -4 offset right now).
I ran the 2010 service pack 1 installer, based on the suggestion of my IT group, and found I already had the service pack installed.  I've tried the timezone tool as well and that didn't work.  Please keep reading.
Next I went to my exchange host with outlook web access.   The appointment is closer to correct there, showing at 9:30am.  It think here it almost seems as though it's applying the DST, but not correctly, maybe doubling it?.
Meanwhile, back in outlook, if I go to the scheduling assistant and look at my time while making an appointment with other invitees it - much to my surprise - matches the time in OWA, not the time in outlook client.
Finally, if I go to my Android and look at the appointment, it is correct.  8:30 AM.
    So to summarize:
    Real Appoinment:   8:30 AM
    Outlook Client Time: 1:30 PM
OWA / Exchange Time: 9:30 AM
    Android Calendar Time: 8:30 AM
This applies to many others, this is just a convenient example.
This applies only to recurring appointments.
Any help would be very appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Jon

Status Update, and recommended next steps:
I opened a ticket with HTC support the day before yesterday (Ticket # 03543601). The initial response was an email reply with the typical level one suggestion to remove and re-add the Exchange ActiveSync account on my phone, and if that didn't resolve the
issue to do a hard reset and then add the account again. Since I have multiple users experiencing this same issue, where the common denominator seems to be centralized around the move from Outlook 2007 to 2010 and the HTC Gingerbread OS, I convinced them that
this would not be an acceptable remedy, and my case was immediately escalated without hesitation. I will say that though I don't have a resolution, I'll applaud HTC for not giving me the runaround and giving me a live person who could talk intelligently about
    the issue.
Today, I received a phone call back on this ticket  from someone in the escalations department at HTC named Travis. After explaining the issue in detail to him and referencing
this specific thread, he acknowledged that it did in fact sound like a coding issue coming from the device where the value in the “dispidApptTZDefStartDisplay” property was being set improperly by the device/stock email/calendar application in their implementation
of ActiveSync. He then stated that he would relay this to the developers to look into the issue. He further elaborated that the case would either be in a status of, "this is being looked into", or "We believe this to be resolved in [x] update". He said that
they will probably continue releasing updates for the Incredible (I did not specifically ask about the Incredible 2), and while the Incredible 2 is definitely slated to get Ice Cream Sandwich, the Incredible one is still in a classification of, "being evaluated".
Personally, I doubt that the Inc 1 will get ICS, but it is possible. From what I have read, the general stance is that phones will be updated for 18 months after release, and the Inc 1 is 24 months old this month (bummer - I REALLY like this phone).
According to Verizon and HTC, these are the phones that will get ICS (or Android 4.0):
Ice Cream Sandwich Coming to Many Verizon Wireless Smartphones
Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich Updates
While it is possible that an update will be released for the Incredible 1 to fix this issue, it will likely be months before one is available, so we'll probably have to move to Touchdown for Exchange by NitroDesk in order to resolve this issue....or move to
a newer phone with ICS 4.0.
Speaking of which, there is a whole laundry list of issues with Exchange ActiveSync and third-party devices. A number of them are listed in this Microsoft KB article:
Current issues with Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync and third-party devices
    Per the article:
Microsoft's recommendation for Android - Upgrade to Android OS 4.0
Microsoft's recommendation for iPhone/iOS devices - Upgrade to iOS version 5
So, for anyone on Android experiencing this issue (or others listed in the Microsoft KB above), if your phone is likely to get ICS soon, then you may want to hold on and just be vigilant about checking your calendar on OWA. If your phone isn't slated to get
ICS or if you can't wait, my recommendation is to get Touchdown for $20. You may still have to delete and re-create appointments that are wrong, but hopefully the issue won't happen any more once you move to Touchdown. And if they do, at least you've got a
shot at a more rapid fix with a company like NitroDesk. (no offense HTC).
Good luck. I probably won't post again unless I get notice of a fix for this specific issue or some other significantly useful information.

  • Appointments are suddenly GMT!

I just entered a very important appointment into my iPhone Calendar for 1/22/2015.
Everything looked OK so I selected "Add".
I just happened to notice that the appointment was scheduled for GMT!!!  Not New York, where I actually live.  When I added this there was no indication whatsoever that GMT was involved, it just showed the time and date on the little wheel but when I looked at it again after saving it it did indeed show GMT.
I had absolutely no reason to believe this was happening and if I hadn't just happened to notice this it could have been disastrous
    I have:
Settings > mail, contacts, calendars > Time Zone Override = off
Settings > General > Date and Time > Time Zone > Set automatically, and the time zone time zone is correct.
I need to have this fixed or I'm going to sell my iOS devices and get something I can rely on.
Maybe the alarm would have gone off using GMT and I would have been on time, maybe not, I don't know.
I added a test appointment for tomorrow and it was added correctly, as expected.  I've seen errors in Apple products like any other but something like this is potentially disastrous.

Edit to previous post, for some reason this editor lets me edit text but not actually save the edit.
Edit:  When GMT first appeared it showed the time I had input plus an unmarked time 5 hours earlier, 9:15,which I'd guess is my local time.  Now it just shows GMT time 5 hours later and no local time, so that GMT is correct and when I look at it in Day view the blue box indicating 'busy' is in the correct place but all it shows is 7:15 GMT, not 2:15 local time.
*** my test input shows none of this nonsense.  Why is GMT showing anywhere???

  • ICal GMT bug

I prefer to use google calendar at work, since iCal does not work on Government Networks. But I like having iCal for its printing capabilities. Solution... I create everything in google calendar and I have it sync to my iCal. Problem:
iCal changes all my events originally created in google calendar to GMT time, so everything is about 5 hours off. I searched the web for answers and got nothing other then alot of unresolved complaints. I tried switching my google calendar timezones around to different countries and re-importing everything into the iCal, but this did not work. So I tried the opposite by changing my iCal timezone to different countries, then deleted and re-imported my google calendar. No dice. I even selected and deselected Timezone support in the settings of iCal, and repeated the early process.
If you guys could fix this issue, it would be greatly appreciated and probably save my life! If its not fixed my loyalties to apple will get swaded by google and windows.

This is a relatively new issue for me on my phone which I've had for well over a year, so I agree that this is an iOS operating issue (I am on iOS 8.1.2).
I found something that works (for me).  All of my iCalendar appointments sync through gmail.  The issue has been that on my iphone, the appointments can be seen as EST (my time zone) and GMT is visible if I click on the event to view all the details.  If I go to edit it, the time changes to GMT.  Since I'm never quite sure of the difference between EST and GMT, it makes it tough to change an appointment to the correct time (if the appointment needs to be edited).
After searching around on forums, I couldn't find a relevant answer.  The ONLY thing that I do to fix it for me was go to settings on my phone, go to the iCloud section, Share location, and click it on.  Ever since then, the GMT has disappeared from my calendar.
My other settings which may or may not be relevant: 1) On iCloud setting, I have Calendars turned off (I use google calendar, so why share with iCloud?); 2) I have Time Zone override (in Calendars section) turned off.
I have no idea what will happen when I travel to another time zone, but I am happy for now!

  • Calendar Appointments out by 1 hour

This seems to be a common problem but there does not seem to be a fix for it.
The problem lies in recurring events. For example if we create a recurring event in outlook for the next 2 years and then synchronise it with the iphone it will appear in the calendar as normal however if you roll forward to November 2012 (GMT) all appointments are out by 1 hour. If you then roll forward to April 2013 Brittish Summer Time (BST) all appointments are back to their original time.
However if you hit edit on an appointment showing the wrong time then the actual editable date and time are correct. It is the displaying of the time that is the issue.
I have tried changing the time zone support etc but that does not fix the problem. I assume if I chose another timezone that is the same as GMT but does not have the Brittish Summer Time change this would be a workaround.
Is there a fix for this?
    Thanks

  • Some appointments are not shown sometimes

I access a Webaccess server that is in GMT+1 timezone from GMT-5 timezone and have GW set to either GMT-5 explicitly or use workstation's timezone. I did this test on Sunday Feb 26 and couple hours into Monday Feb 27 (GMT-5) - I created an appointment for Feb 26, 11:00-11:59pm from within a week view. As soon as it was created, it was not shown either in week or day views or basic interface, but could only be seen in month view or when searching for appointments. That is just an example, it was not a single occurrence, but I had several test appointments like that. Then I also had appts that were not shown even in month view, but only in search results. Regarding that Feb 26 appt, it could be made seen again in day or week views if a different timezone was chosen in options. Today, Feb 27 at the end of the day, that appointment is seen no problem in day and week views and also in basic interface, so I do not have a reliable way of reproducing the problem. Since the appt was not shown even in basic interface before, I suspect it is a server time computation/database query problem and not browser graphics rendering problem. Also, there used to be a pdf file with Webaccess API that showed how to query calendar with startDate and endDate parameters which can be done in basic interface by manually editing the address field in browser and that part is broken too - Webaccess does not show some appointments after given start date, until the start date is moved up earlier to coincide with start of the day in GMT timezone. All that used to work fine in earlier GW versions. It looks like in GW2012 some big design changes were made and some serious bugs were introduced.

The missing piece is how ( every other way of accessing the calendar ) sees the apointment. What happens from the Windows client? Does it show the missing appointment created in webaccess?
Its certainly possible that some boundary condition bug is being exercised. But we need to get this to the point where it can be easily reproduced. I suspect the issue has to do with the time zone being signed differently, e.g. +1 vs -5.
Webaccess is essentially a rewrite in 2012, this eliminated the GWINTER server component and so there are a lot of positives to this move. All things considered, its been pretty decent.

  • Appointments on cell phone

    Hi folks,
I upgraded to 10.4.7 and have had no problems. Since iSync now supports my Sony W810i, I am finally able to sync my appoinments from iCal to it.
However, all the appointments appear on the phone as starting and ending 1 hour earlier than they do in iCal.
Any ideas what could be causing this?
iCal worked with a previous cell phone no probs at all.

You are missing something fundamental here. There isn't much that comes into play regarding time and date issues. The settings to look for are…
    GMT offset
    time zone
    Daylight Saving
    AM vs PM
    12 hour or 24 hour
A one hour difference suggests a problem with one device not being set to Daylight Saving Time while the other is, a time zone identification error on one device, or GMT offsets not being set appropriately.
If you look at each of those values [where applicable] on both your mobile handset and your computer, you'll find the inconsistency.
The only other reasonable explanation for this is when the source of the original event data is another computer, in another time zone one hour away, where the GMT offset is incorrect or null. Such events, sourced from Outlook for example, and imported into your copy of iCal, will show up in this manner.

  • Some calender appointments show one hour too early after sync

when I sync my calendar from ical to my iphone, some appointments (that are repeated weekly) are shown on time and some one hours to early. This occurs with all apointments dated after november 1st (switch from summerclock to winterclock in Europe). I supposed it has something to do with timezone. I had this problem on my mac as well, so I turned timezone support on, and the problem was resolved. But the problem remains on my iPhone. And strange enough, some appointments are shown correctly on the same time before november 1st, but some of them are shown too early. I use my calender and iCal MobileMe sync all the time and need it for all my apointments. But now it's not reliable.
    Can someone offer help?
    thank you.

I found this solution on another discussion (http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=8399991&#8399991) It worked for me!
On my iPhone I went to Settings, Mail/Contacts/Calendars, All the way at the bottom is a selection for Time Zone Support, it was still listed as GMT-4 which would be correct for DST. I turned Time Zone Support off and then back on again and it changed to Washington, DC (GMT-5). All of the items on my Calendar were then correct.

  • When creating events my calendar has the GMT default and I've done everything to fix it. I need help. It's driving me crazy.a

Time Zone issue in the calendar.

    ChurchGurl,
I had the same problem on my newly acquired iPhone 6 as well as my slightly older iPad Mini (2), but the problem did not start until after I set up my iPhone 6 recently. The link (iOS: Troubleshooting issues with date and time - Apple Support) in Jason's response above is good advice and should fix the problem, but then your phone will not automatically adjust time zones if you go from one time zone to another. That may not be a problem much, or at all depending on how much you travel. Something else I noticed is that you are specifically referring to using the Calendar App. Be sure to check Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Time Zone Override (near the bottom under the "Calendars" section). If Time Zone Override is turned off, "events will display according to the time zone of your current location." I don't know for sure if the "location" it's talking about is determined by the "Time & Date" settings mentioned in Jason's response or some other calculation (GPS, Cell Signal, etc.). I'm thinking that if you turn off the feature to automatically set your time zone, it may affect your calendar as well.
    Possible Alternative Solution...
My iPhone and iPad calenders sync with my Google Calendar, so this may be a whole different circumstance, although I encountered the same problem you're having where any appointments I created on my iPhone 6 (and suddenly on my iPad Mini as well, which created events properly before) listed the GMT Time Zone instead of my own. I checked the settings mentioned above, and checked the Calendar Time Zone settings directly in my Google account and all was correct... except for the iOS Time Zone issue displayed on the iOS Calendar. So, I created a new event in the iOS Calendar, and when I set the time for the event I made sure to change the Time Zone setting to my current/correct Time Zone, and then hit Done. After doing this a couple of times and changing/correcting the Time Zone each time I created the new appointment, it now uses the correct Time Zone for new events on both my iPhone 6 and on the iPad Mini as well, as if it synchronized the two back to the correct Calendar Time Zone settings. I suspect it had something to do with the fact that I set up a new iPhone on my account recently, but I don't know for sure. One question for you is whether you set up, restored, or added any new iOS devices to your account recently. It may or may not make a difference, but it's worth checking into. Good luck!

  • TS1347 My iPhone shows appointments a day early when synced with Outlook Calendar...

    Hi,
When I sync my iPhone calendar with Outlook, all the appointments appear a day earlier.
I have looked up earlier discussions on this topic, followed the instructions and have not yet found a resolution.  I have checked all time zones including Outlook, Windows, iPhone time settings and iphone calendar settings and they are all showing the same timezone.
I have read around and some people believe it is because we in New Zealand are in GMT +13hours (at the moment) and the iPhone calendar settings somehow don't cater for this properly.
Either way I have tried all previously suggested solutions and am now wondering if a solution to this had been found by someone, or it has been fixed by Apple.
    Thanks for your help,
    Sue

Tap the rectangle over the 2 lines and make sure it no longer shows up in red. At this point, you should have only the month view, no daily appointments below. Now press on a specific day, and this will either:
    1. Take you into the daily view with the hourly breakdown. If this is the case, tap the three horizontal lines at the top to get the list.
    2. Take you directly to the list view
