Appraisal ESS BP ESS 1.41 Webdynpro.

Good Afternoon.
I am working with the Business Package for ESS 1.41.
Other consultant is configuring the component of OSA(Objective Setting and Appraisal) in ECC.
The company want that the employee can appraisal to their manager through ESS.
I found that this version work with webdynpro ABAP and use the webdynpro application HAP_START_PAGE_POWL_UI_ESS.
I want know that have that modify for that the employee can appraise to their manager and solve this issue?
Can someone help me?

I work know what have that modify the abap for that the Employee can Create an appraisal document(The employee can appraise to his Manager) using the role of ESS.

What is the diff between ITS ESS/MSS and Webdynpro ESS/MSS

Hi all,
Could anybody tell me the differences between ITS ESS/MSS and Webdynpro ESS/MSS?
Presently we have ITS based ESS/MSS in our landscape and customer wants to go for Webdynpro ESS/MSS. and Webdynpro ESS/MSS is already installed in the sandbox system where ITS based ESS/MSS is already there.
my doubt is can we install both ESS/MSS in the same server? if it is installed we may get any problems?

Screen of Appraisal ESS BP ESS 1.41 Webdynpro.

Good afternoon,
Is the first time that i am configuring ESS_MSS for the component of OSA.
I am working with the BP for Employee Self-Service 1.41 (ERP 6.0 EhP04) and BP for Manager Self-Service 1.41 (ERP 6.0 EhP04).
I'm looking for screens of this component in ESS and MSS to show the user. They want see the layout of this in the portal ESS and MSS. In the moment, not have system. I am in the phase of Blue Print. But they want have an idea of this.
Someone implemented the component of OSA for ESS_MSS that can share with me some screens?

There is a WD ABAP component for ESS appraisals HAP_START_PAGE_POWL_UI with application name hap_start_page_powl_ui_ess.

Same WD component you can use with MSS (initiating, creating appraisal documents for sub-ordindates) with applcation name as HAP_START_PAGE_POWL_UI_MSS. The same life-cycle is followed for WD ABAP also.

ESS - Deployment Error Webdynpro for Java

Hi All
To enhance the functionality of CatsApproval (sap.com/msscatapproval), We have created a custom DC and copied the source code from the above DC. After we enhanced the functionality in new DC, we have undeployed the old DC to avoid name clash and deployed the new DC (say xxx_msscatapproval).
We are getting below error during runtime.
com.sap.tc.webdynpro.services.exceptions.WDRuntimeException: Failed to create deployable object 'sap.com/msscatapproval' since it is not a Web Dynpro object.
We have found ''sap.com/msscatapproval' text have hard coded in some of the component and we have replaced with the new DC name but Still we r getting error.
Any help on this is highly appreciated.

I remember encountering this error ....but not sure whether we applied a note or fixed it in webdynpro....in webdynpro you have to goto the ess~per DC -> FcPersInfo Component Controller -> CreateOverView() method ...and you have to fix it there....

Editing Standard ESS Travel Abap Webdynpro Application

Hi All,
We used to edit ESS Java webdynpro applications by taking a copy of the standard application
with the help of Track created in Enterprise Portal.
Now we have switched Travel Application from Java Webdynpro to Abap Webdynpro.
and there is a requirement come up which requires the modification of standard WDA Application
for Travel Request.
Please let me know the procedure.
Can we take the copy of that Entire package and do the necessary changes in the copied Application
or can we proceed by editing the standard code ?
If we are taking the copy of the Entire package does the configuration will affect on copied Application?

Hi Hari Sankar,
I have done this in my last project. You can enhance the WD Component only if you are adding functionality. Be careful to find the right component and methods. You usually do not make the change on the application itself.
If you want to tweak what the standard code does, that is a modification. If that, then I would advise you look into the configuration capabilities and the personalization if that meets the requirement.
Copying the component is going to be very hard. I would definitely not get into that at all costs since the Travel WDA uses the FPM framework as well. The links between the components are very complicated to simply copy and edit the z compoenent. It does not work like that.
Another thing: The specific challenge for the travel request is that the component you will need to change is being shared by the Expense report. It is the general data visual component. Be careful with that as you will have to differentiate in the code that you are calling it for the travel request.

Support multiple languages in ESS-Portal (using Webdynpro)

We are customizing ESS and Portal using Webdynpro. I have couple of questions here:
A. ESS can support multiple languages but requires language configuration, where I need to do that?
B. We are implementing ERP04 ESS (Webdynpro services) there may be additional configuration of the homepage framework for specific languages in the the backend, where I need to configure in portal side?

Error Deploying ESS/MSS ERP2005 WebDynpro Components for SP7

Hi,
I have been in process of trying to Patch up the J2EE stack in an attempt to turn on SAP Delivered Solution for ESS/MSS.
We are on EP7 with ECC6 Backend.
What I have done so far::
1. Updated J2EE with Netweaver SP stack 11.
2. Imported the business package for ESS/MSS into EP. I can confirm that the content is now available on PCD.
3. Then i tried to upload the WebDynpro Components for ESS/MSS. Files are PCUI_GP, ESS and MSS. they all have a named reference to 600 SP7. These are the ones available to download for self-services from mySAPERP components on service market place.
This step is now falling over. Deployment of these components fail when its trying to deploy the application component. I must add that once we loaded the Business packages for ESS/MSS (step 2), i then checked the delivered content and created a delta link to the AU/Address iView into my own content folder. I am not sure if this has anything to do with the Failure of deployment but this is the only thing that i did in between steps 2 and step 3.
I didn't think that it would have caused any issue as this was an iview while the component its trying to deploy is a webdynpro application, but i am not sure now.

I got the same problem but not on ESS/MSS component. But the exception was exactly the same. The solution what i found is
1. Find the exception in the Default trace. By searching for DC Name.
2. Here you should find the one in which its mentioned below error
com.sap.tc.webdynpro.repository.RepositoryRuntimeException: Failed to deploy the file '/usr/sap/EPD/JC35/j2ee/cluster/server0/./temp/webdynpro/public/burton.com/portal~passwordchange/webdynpro/Components/com.burton.webshop.b2b.myprofile.EditPassword/EditPassword.xml' into the database. Reason: Development Object 'local/wdMyProfile' contains already same repository content. Hint: fully qualified name of the repository VMO must be globally unique.
3. Now go to the visual administrator -> deploy -> webdynpro and undeploy the local webdynpro with which the current DC is conflicting. (You should decide whehter you can undeploy or not)
4. Now try activate the activity or Deploy the DC you shouldnt get the problem.
Actually i got this problem when i created a WebDynpro DC by importing the local webdynpro project. So, when i try to activate the activity of DC created then its not getting deployed. When i check the logs, i had same exceptions as you ppl got. So after going thru default trace then i figured out that the local webdynpro is the reason for this conflicting. Then i undeployed that webynpro.

Need help with validation of SSNumber in ESS US Dependent WebDynpro app

Hi,
We're using ESS /SAP Netweaver 2004....
When I make the Soc Sec# visible (changing the Java webdynpro app ess.us.fam the dependents update form in ESS) and trying to make this field not mandatory, I get strange results...
The Gender field that was mandatory before is now not treated as Required after I select the Review button, but this SSN Text that I made visible is treated as Mandatory with a Red box saying This field is required....
I guess the Required (state) attribute in the InputField properties is only for showing the red asterisk, but the actual mandatory logic is done somewhere else???..Is this somewhere in the webdynpro app or in the SAP backend...
This app uses the structure HCMT_BSP_PA_US_R0021...
Can anyone point me to where this validation is done so I can change it to what I need,

Most of the application in ESS have used the FPM (http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp2005/helpdata/en/3f/20888224c544a2a01d9fe618902ae5/frameset.htm) to develop new self service applications.
You may start developing applications as described in the help link and then integrate it with ESS. You will have to maintain some setting under Homepage Framework in SPRO. There are plenty of threads describing this. Do search

It should be explicitly hidden for Portal through a BADI HRHAP00_COL_ACCESS which has to be called in the BSP HAP_documnet only then it will be hidden.
CODE inside the BADI
if status_overview = 'In_process '.
if the logon person person is Appraisee
   if column to be displayed is Part appraiser comments column
               hide column
   endif.

ESS/MSS in ECC 6.0 are Abap or Java WebDynpro ?

We are on ECC5.0 and have ESS/MSS on Java WebDynpro . For ECC6.0 are ESS/MSS in ECC 6.0 are Abap or Java WebDynpro compoment ?
Any watch out when updrading from ECC5.0 to ECC6.0 ?

in ECC 6.0, ESS/MSS are WebDynpro Java calling ABAP backend function modules. However, be careful, there is a switch that enables SOME ESS services as ABAP WebDynpro (Especially in the Travel management area). Unless you use that switch all services are WebDynpro Java.
when upgrading from ECC5.0 to ECC 6.0 you need to test again all ESS/MSS services. In ECC5.0, services are written as Portal iViews, so customizations you made to ESS in ECC5.0 may be lost.

Two different system in ESS ABAP Webdynpro

Hi Experts,
            Is it possible to connect two different system (ECC 6.0) in ESS with ABAP Webdynpro Technology (EHP5)? I know it is possible in Java Webdynpro (EHP4). Please advice.

Hello Jacob,
I would recommend to configure the Jcos to access your second system which will be much more used as the standard ones:
○     SAP_R3_HumanResources
○     SAP_R3_HumanResources_MetaData
○     SAP_R3_Financials
○     SAP_R3_Financials_MetaData
○     SAP_R3_SelfServiceGenerics
○     SAP_R3_SelfServiceGenerics_MetaData
As for the Leave Request framework, this parameter is configured on the Iview via the Application Parameters. You can go on this via Content Admin as this is a field on the property on the iview.
You should create a new JcO to the destination system of the Leave Request framework and to parameters add the
sap-wd-arfc-useSys = JcoName.
