Appraisal for ESS

Good Night.
I am implementing the module of OSA for ESS.
The company want that the employee can do appraise to his Manager through ESS.
i found "There is no ESS scenario delivered for OSA. Instead use the BSP pages (via an iview) to include them into the portal."
I dont know much BSP.
What modifications needs to be done to achieve this, for i do the specification technical to the abap?
How can display the layout of the page BPS standard.?

OSA Appraisal for BP 1.41

Good Aftternoon.
I am implementing the Objective and Setting Appraisal for the last BP for ESS and MSS.
I have the following screens of the manual HR510. But i want know if the screens for the version 1.41 that work with webdynpro abap, have the same layout that this.

We have appraisals of employee to chief and of chief to employee. We not are using appraisal 360º degree.
We have appraisal with critical group (Objective, Compentence and Plan development).
The chief can display the average of the appraisal that the employee did to the chief.
The employee can display the appraisal that this did to the chief and can consult the appraisal that the chief did to he.
We also need call a report created in BI and display data of average of a table Z . How can call this report?

In latest version of WD ABAP based appraisals, you can change the layout through configuration in spro under -->> Personnel Management -->> Personnel Development -->> Objective settings and appraisals -->> Define tab and process configuration for templates.
However, you need to activate the switches HCM_OSA_CI_1 in order to do the above configuration using the node otherwise the node will not be visible.
Please read the documentation as much as possible in service marketplace and help.sap.com. There is lot of custumization which can be achieved using WD ABAP.

Appraisal on ESS

Hi experts,
Our client is on EHP4 and implemented the Apraisal system on Portal.
I had checked the WD used to display the appraisal documents on ESS/ MSS is HAP_START_PAGE_POWL_UI.
It is using the component configruation HAP_START_PG_POW_ESS_UI_CC & HAP_START_PG_POW_MSS_CC repectively.
Now our client wants one more links on Portal with similar fuctionlaties like ESS
I had created one apllication for the WD HAP_START_PAGE_POWL_UI, attached the component configruation HAP_START_PG_POW_ESS_UI_CC , when I check the veiw information for this application on portal, it shows the view as MASTER_MATRIX ( of the powl component powl_ui_comp) for this link.
I checked for ESS, it is fetching the view MASTER_TAB ( of the powl_ui_comp ) .
I am not able to figure out , why the different views are fetched, while I am using the same component configruation.
Any inputs will be helpful.

Also for the new application which I had created for WD HAP_START_PAGE_POWL_UI created a similar application configruation having the component configruation same as hap_start_page_powl_ui_ess, then to the veiw fetched on portal is different?
how can be this possible? can you pls. give futher inputs on this? thanks.

Performance appraisal in ESS

Hi,
we are using ecc5.0 and we have requiement from client on performance appraisal.
In ess employee should be able to fill the self appraisal and submit to manager.The manager should be able to open performance review form and fill the form and send both the self appraisal form and performanace appraisal form to hr after signing.
Is there any standard functionality in ecc5.0?

What you are looking for can be done with standard with all the below activities.
1. Configure appraisal templates using PHAP_CATALOG_PA.
2. Create BSP iView for appraisal templates for employees, managers and others in portal using BSP application 'HAP_DOCUMENT-documents_received_open2.htm' (appraisal for employees) and 'HAP_DOCUMENT-documents_todo.htm' for managers and others.
Also, refer to SAP help on how to configure Appraisal templates. let me know if you need any further details.

Implementing Performance appraisal in ESS.

Dear Experts,
we are using EP 7.0 with ESS 1.0. now our client wants to implement performance appraisal through ESS. Can any body give a detailed information how to proceed further and system information of HCM too.

You first have to know whether you will use the predefined or flexible performance process. The iViews for the predefined process are available in the default ESS role. If you use the flexible, you should modify the portal config and OBN navigation.

Backend R/3 connectivity for ESS MSS from portal

We are currently in development cycle for ESS/MSS based on portal EP 6.0 SP16 and ERP 2004 in backend. We are trying to find out how the ESS/MSS business package on portal works with backend ESS functionality in ERP 2004. It is more of a connectivity question. We want to know if we expose our portal to internet so that users can login to ESS/MSS from internet, do we need to put backend ERP (ECC 5.0) system also in DMZ? Do we need to open ports between portal and R/3 so that ESS/MSS can work? Or the communication happens using JCO connections and we need not to expose R/3 system.
Also one more specific question? If someone knows how ESS/MSS talks to backend system. At SAP application layer level or database level? I am asking this question to check if I need to open a port to talk to database or I can very well keep 2-3 SAP application server in DMZ and work.

You need to look at the specific business package. For example, ESS for mySAP ERP 2004 says that the technology is Java / Web dynpro, which says that the Java engine uses RFCc to get the data from the backend.
Othe businesss packages may use ITS, which then needs another connection from the user to the ITS server.

Creating NWDI track for ESS/MSS

Hi,
I am trying to implement ESS/MSS (600 SP7). For customization I need to import the package on the track in CMS. Import of JEE, JTECHS, BUILDT and PCUIG were successful. When i tried importing ESS and MSS, import is failing. Check-In of both the components are successful but while importing the component under Development tab, its failing. Import of MSS in DTR is successful but CMS is failing.

If the termination type was RABAX_STATE, then you can find more information on the cause of the termination in the system TRG in transaction ST22.
If the termination type was ABORT_MESSAGE_STATE, then you can find more information on the cause of the termination on the application server PPLKHIDR05_TRG_00 in transaction SM21.
If the termination type was ERROR_MESSAGE_STATE, then you can search for more information in the trace file for the work process 0 in transaction ST11 on the application server PPLKHIDR05_TRG_00 . In some situations, you may also need to analyze the trace files of other work processes.

Creation Of Track For ESS/MSS

Hi,
Could anybody send me the steps in brief or any document which gives step by step procude exactly what needs to be done in NWDI to create a track for ESS/MSS.
I have gone thru some of the sdn posts but i didnt get exactly what steps need to be done....like apart from importing predefined SCA's.
Please help me out...

Process: Creating Track for ESS/MSS Application.
1) open the NWDI URL.
2)click on "Change Management Service" link and login.
3)After logging you will be in "Transport Studio" link. Shift to "Landscape Configurator" link click on that, there you will see tract related page.
4)In the middle of the page there are differnet options(buttons) like Change,New,Save,Save As,e.t.c..
5)Click on New button then you will get new track related fields. After giving required details bottom of that there are some more options(buttons) like ADD Sc,Delete,e.t.c.., clcik on ADD Sc and add the SCs related to ESS/MSS and click on SAVE button which is present on top of window.
6)With these steps required track will be created...

Unable to check in .sda file for ess in the track for NWDI

Hi Gurus;
We have created the track and added the three dependencies along with PCUI_GP.We have imported these into the track.
However after placing the .sda file for ess under Jtrans/CMS/Inbox folder and adding it as software component to the track through Landscape Configurator we are unable to get the ess component under the checkin tab of the track in CMS. Please suggest why this is happening?

Message Mapping in HRAS - can it be used for ESS ?

We came across this functionality for EHP2 (after activating business function HCM_ASR_CI_1)
called "message mapping" while implementing HCM processes and forms framework. It is available under HR Administrative services -->Tools in the IMG provided the business function is activated.
As per IMG documentation for this Message Mapping node --> "The tool for mapping messages can also be used in Employee Self-Services and applications of the Enterprise Service-Oriented Architecture"
Just wanted to check if anyone tried exploring this by mapping messages for ESS services outside of HCM Processes and forms framework? or Is this tool limited only for HCM P&F.

I've seen the same thing. I suspect it "will" be possible but not fully implemented just yet. You could probably do a search on the mapping table and see if it is actully used in the newer ESS code at all. It looks like they have this in place as ESS transitions over more fully to Webdynpro ABAP and making use of the decoupled infotype framework.

Setting Up the System Landscape for ESS

I am in step of defining systems in portal for ESS/MSS.

Now the basis person in my project has handed over to me following systems :
SAP_BSP_EREC
SAP_ITS_FND Name mismatch as FND is used in place of XSS or EBU
SAP_R3_Financials
SAP_WebDynpro_ESS Name mismatch as ESS is used in place of XSS
Now below two systems are altogether missing as per first link on help.sap.com
SAP_ECC_HumanResources
SAP_ECC_Travel
Please explain if it requires to be corrected or name mismatch and missing ststems would do.

All the above names that you are referring to are not necessarily separate systems.
These are system aliases for a system object created in your portal via System Administration - System landscape.
So, if you have HR and Finance on the same backend server, then you need only one system with the related system aliases.
You will need SAP_BSP_EREC only if you are planning on using E-recruitment.
Similarly, you will need SAP_ITS_XSS only if you are planning on using any ITS applications.
It is pretty straight forward to change/correct the names of your system aliases instead of changing the usage of these aliases every where else.
SAP_ECC_HumanResources is absolutely necessary.
SAP_ECC_Travel is required if you are planning on using travel and expense related applications.
Also, note that SAP_WebDynpro_XSS should be the alias of the system where your webdynpro applications are deployed (typically the same portal server)

I would like to know all the back ground jobs to be scheduled for ESS/MSS.
As all the data updated in the portal as to reflect in r/3 system and all the data updated in r/3 system to portal.

You need to set the background jobs depending on the functionality which is being implemented and what the data ?
for eg: if it's leave request there background jos which needs to scheduled
RPTARQEMAIL (Leave Requests: Send E-Mails)
RPTARQPOST (Leave Requests: Post)
RPTARQSTOPWF (Leave Requests: Complete Current Workflows)
