Appraisals in ESS : PP_MY_APP,PP_MY_APP_MGT

Hi,
I wanted to know if the PP_MY_APP for employee is geared up to handle Appraisals in the Objective setting phase. It shows Appraisals only when the Status is completed. I cannot see appraisals which are in review Phase.
I want that the Appraisal form be shown to employee so that he can enter his KRA, then manager add/edits/deletes the KRA thorugh PP_MY_APP.
The scenario is given below
Status: Review
Employee PP_MY_APP and Manager PP_MY_APP_MGT can edit appraisal (KRA part) in respective iview
Status: In Process, After pressing start appraisal button 
Employee can edit to make self appraisal in PP_MY_APP
Manager can edit to put superior appraisal in PP_MY_APP_MGT
Status: Completed
Only Display in PP_MY_APP and PP_MY_APP_MGT resp.
Also would like to know what authorisations are involved for PP_MY_APP and PP_MY_APP_MGT as i am getting this in only display mode
Appreciate if any guidance can be provided.

We are using ECC 5 and SP15.
I am currently working on Appraisals in ESS/MSS.
There is a template that is configured by the Functional person that determines what input fields, check boxes, and other display elements are rendered on the portal under appraisals in ESS/MSS.
This Template is interacted with by the BSP application HAP_DOCUMENT. I am trying to modify that applicationso that i can change the layout of the elements in the template.
I was a little successful in changing the layout .
There is already an iview configured in MSS that corresponds to the appraisals.
But there is no iview that is configured to the ESS that relates to Appraisals.
I need to configure those iviews, in ESS, that corresponds to appraisals.
So the questions i have are:
1. What are the iviews that need to be configured in ESS, that corresponds to appraisals.
2. how do i configure those iviews.
3. When a user clicks a link in ESS or MSS, ultimately the call is going to the HAP_DOCUMENT. So is there anything that i need to do, so as to make the HAP_DOCUMENT understand whether the call is coming from ESS or MSS.

You may get some help from this Are there Appraisal for ESS.
As of now, there are no ESS iViews for Appraisals. So you have 2 options:
1. Copy the MSS iView, change the View Group and use it in MSS (functional effort, with very little technical work in copying the iView)
2. Copy the BSP application HAP_DOCUMENT and make modifications in this (mostly technical effort)

Objective setting appraisals in ESS

Hi All,
This is a question related to Objective seting appraisal. The requirement is, the apprisal form's criteria group & criteria are different for all employees. So the client needs that a blank form should be available in ESS only with heading & the employee will add new rows & write the criteria group & criteria and fill the form. Once it is fiiled he will submit it & it should go to the concerned manager through workflow.
So I would like to know whether it is possible or not. Please help. If yes is it a abap development or through customizing it is possible.

daniel - nick didn't understand your question... your requirement is done through configuration. first define a criteria group called "Business targets" or whatever you want.
go to this criteria group and go to the columns tab - in the dynamic settings (key word here dynamic) - configure free enhancement "add new element"
cllick on the button below - refers to attributes of - generate a new attribute as a criterion.
double click on the criterion. here you configure what columns you want to use.
from application standpoint.
this will give an "add" button on your template. every time the user clicks it - it will generate your reference criterion - with the columns you configured.

I have read the forum topic "Are there Appraisal for ESS" that deals with modifying MSS functionality.
I hav copied the BSP Appln HAP_DOCUMENT to zHAP_DOCUMENT & class cl_bsp_hap_document_co to zcl_bsp_hap_document_co.
But i don't know exactly where to modify these pages ?
How much work is involved in it ?
Cud u throw some light on it ?

Appraisals in ESS/MSS ERP2005

Hi,
I hope someone can help my confusion.
It is true that in ERP2005 (ECC6), there is no standard apprasial functionality for employees?
Is the MSS Appraisal Functionality under Personnel Development or Performance Management (Maintain Performance Documents)?

Hello Paul,
In every release of performance management there is standard appraisal functionality available for the employee; be it directly in R/3 or in the web.
There is no ESS scenario available. Instead you can include pages of BSP application HAP_DOCUMENT to an iview and assign that to the employee. This allows performance management to run in the portal as well as stand-alone in the web.
The same concept can be used for the manager. Besides this we deliver also an MSS status overview.

Getting message 'Press Spacebar to Activate' in Maintain Appraisals in ESS.

Hi,
I am getting message displayed 'Press Spacebar to Activate' when clicking on tab for second page of Apprisal document in Maintain Appraisals.
Can you please help?

When manager clicks on the next page tab(to navigate to second page of appraisal) nothing happens and when he holds the mouse over that button, it displays a message saying "Press SPACEBAR to activate".

Appraiser Authorization Issue (Objective Settings and Appraisals)

Hello!
We are currently using Objective Settings and Appraisals for our
performance appraisals. ESS and MSS is also used during the process. We
do not use structural authorizations either.
Authorizations work fine for the vast majority of employees. However, we have an issue with some of our Human Resources users. For his/her ID they have authorization to certain personnel areas. However, his/her appraiser is in a personnel area they do not have authorization for. As a result, the appraisal does not show up when the user access ESS to work on their appraisal.
For example we have an HR user who has access to information in
personnel area 1081. However, her appraiser/manager is actually in 2054. As
a result when she accesses her appraisal it says no entries exist.
One solution we tried was selecting the 'No Authorization Check for Appraiser' on the
template. With this selected, the appraisal shows up with the personnel
number of the appraiser on the listing. When the appraisal is accessed
and the user tries to perform an action, the following error pops up stating the
appraisee person is not allowed and it has the appraiser number within
the error message.
Currently, we have the HR employee using a different ID for ESS that allows the
user to access the appraisal. Is there anything standard that will
allow the user to view the appraisal without using a different ID?

Appraisal (PD) on ESS

Dear Experts
I want one help from you regarding the appraisal workflow on ESS. All of my appraisal templates are ready and working fine on R/3. But now client want the appraisal functionality on ESS, as I am very new to the ESS functionality, so I dont know the basic settings of the appraisal module on ESS. I have seen one node of ESS under PD in R/3 IMG, i.e for initial skills group for profile maintenance. Even I dont find any node related to appraisal in the ESS node under Personal management in IMG.
Please guide me in this regard.

Does anyone know if this is still true? If you want to use appraisals in ESS you have to use the BSPs..? That's what I thought, too, but I have some documentation from the HR2008 conference (I did not attend) that has screenshots of the appraisals in ESS that look like web dynpro and interactive forms... I have not found any documentation on SAP Help. For anyone that attended the conference the slide deck is called "Enhance SAP ESS and SAP MSS Usability with SAP Interactive Forms by Adobe."
Can someone please clarify or share any info on what the lastest technology is? Thanks in adavnce!

Error in calling up application Appraisal document

Good Morning.
We are implementing Appraisals for ESS and MSS with BP 1.41. We are
working ECC 604.
We are following the information of help.sap for configure this component.
We did the following setting in the customizing.
1.      In Customizing, choose Cross-Application Components ® Homepage
Framework ® Areas ® Services ® Assign Services to Subareas.
       2.      Delete the following:
○       Subarea key EMPLOYEE_CAREER_SUB_TM_PM_14
○       Service key EMPLOYEE_CAREER_APPRAISAL_PMP_14
○       Item 10
       3.      Add the following:
○       Subarea key EMPLOYEE_CAREER_SUB_TM_PM_14
○       Service key EMPLOYEE_CAREER_APPRAISAL_WD_UI_14
○       Item 10
After completing these steps, the Employee portal role is actively
assigned to the Appraisal Documents iView
(com.sap.pct.erp.ess.14.documents_ee) in the Job and Career area.
Other activity that we did was active the WD ABAP using the T.Code SICF.
However the system is display the following message of error that attach.

Enabling MSS Overview WebDynpro for Employees

Hi,
I was asked to provide the functionality of u2018initiatingu2019 the appraisal process from ESS, by end users. The standard process is only allowing the HR Managers to initiate the process on behalf of employee. I read somewhere the 'Status Overview' of MSS 'Maintain Performance Documents' can be configured for the ESS. Can anyone give me some light on this?

Adobe forms and portal

we are using adobe forms to open and print appraisals in ess. When we click on print appraisal, adobe does not open up, i have checked connections and they look fine. We get a time out error and it looks like it is pointing to the web dispatcher OFCOMTOLS026_EWX_01
the server is ofcomtols026, EWX is the dispatcher, should the portal be pointing to this in the ERP system, where is this setup to point to this?

Your PDFs can be generated in ADS on Portal or ECC systems. From what you describe it looks like in your case it is ADS on ECC and there is a web dispatcher, doing load balancing of HTTP connects for ECC J2EE engine. In this case web dispatcher is a correct destination.
My recommendation for the troubleshooting:
1. Make sure ADS forms generated OK by accessing one of the ECC app servers directly. If Adobe form is not generated, check ADS settings. Here is a nice doc:

2. Once Adobe Form is verified, check access via Web Dispatcher. It is possible that its permission table does not allow ADS urls.

You should not be able to connect the portal to a webdispatcher. Only browsers talk via webdispatcher.
I am sorry, but this is not true. Web dispatcher can route pretty much any TCP/IP protocol. In most cases it is used for routing HTTP/S (not only for browsers), but it can transfer a binary format as well. One time I even used web dispatcher to do port forwarding for Microsoft WTS.

Hi All,
We are in process of implementing the OSA appraisals using ESS. I have created a new iview using the standard Documnets to do BSP. Our problem is that when an employee is part of Appraisals for entering his objectives, we are not able to see any documents in the iview where as during the part appraisal the system does populates the iview. What shall be done so that during all the process an employee/supervisor can see the document under the BSP service

ESS Webservice for Appraisals

Hi ESS Experts:
I have got two IAC Iviews created -- MY_APPRAISALS and MY_APPRAISALM on EP.
MY_APPRAISALS worked well as it just displays the completed appraisals but when i accesed the MY_APPRAISALM service on EP it says the service not found. And then later i have learnt that this service is not available in ITS Directory in R/3.
And alternatively, i have used PP_MY_APP_MGT as an ITS Service on ESS but when i create an appraisal using this service....i donot see any buttons like-- Define Objectives, SAVE, End Preperation in the Screen.
Am i missing anything here.
And what is Publishing the Service on Web Server using W3_PUBLISH_SERVICES.
Experts please provide some hints..

Hi Srikanth,
If i understand you correctly, you have a portal system and want to publish the appraisal in that.
You need to create iView of type BSP if you are in EP7 or general URL iView if you are in EP6.
In the URL parameter, you need to get the URL from the backend SAP system. the corresponding BSP application in the backend is HAP_DOCUMENT. There are many pages available in that BSP and the one to be used for managers is 'documents_todo.htm' and the one for employee is "documents_received.htm".
Get the URL from the property of the page and use this in the portal iView.
