Approx 700 Files being deleted from file server (server 2003) without permission

Hello,
We had a problem with files being deleted from our file server.
We lost approx. 700 files across approx. 40 directories from the file date codes between Nov. 30 2014 and Dec 3, 2014. All files before this date were not touch.
Our Dec. 1 backup had all of the files. Our Dec. 5 backup only have files before Sept. 1 2014 and after Dec. 3, 2014.
My question is how can this happen without going to each directory and sorted my date cade and delecting files from this date range.
Does anyone have any other ideals on how this could of happen?

Why is all of my email being deleted from the server?

Hi Everyone!
I am using an iPad Air 2, iOS version 8.1.2 (still have to perform the current update). When I download email from my ISP, Comcast, it gets deleted from their server. This never happened with my 2nd Generation iPad.
I go to settings>Mail>accounts>advanced - and under the Incoming settings, I don't have an option for "delete from server" where I am supposed to select "never". Instead, it has "IMAP Path Prefix / "
How do I fix this so my email stays on the server? I like to check my email using my ipad and iphone, but I prefer saving it on my desktop PC but I can't do this because when my email is downloaded into the ipad, it gets deleted from Comcast's servers.
Any help would be appreciated.

Actually, it had to do with Comcast, not the iPad. The default for Comcast is IMAP, and that is based on the information they have available when the account goes into verification. It verifies an IMAP account, and since you have not migrated to the IMAP account, you were having problems. It isn't something anyone can fix, except you. It would not ask you at the beginning if you wanted IMAP or POP, it has to do with the mail provider's verification settings, which is a Comcast issue, but because they are providing IMAP now, it defaults to that. If you are still using POP, you have to force the mail app to get there, which is what I provided you the instructions for. Apple is not going to fix anything, because there is nothing for them to fix.
Either way, you got it fixed and that is all it takes. As a Comcast customer, I was aware of this, since I had migrated to IMAP already.

My messages are not being deleted from the server

Hi,
Mail is not removing messages from the server. Every now and than I have to remove messages from my server manually. I went through all the settings ... it works as intended on 2 out of 3 machines ... am I missing something? I can use "delete now" in Mail preferences ... not a big deal, just a nuisance.

Messages not being deleted from POP server...

...at least not quickly. I have Mail set up to delete messages from the server "When moved from Inbox". I assume deleting a message is included in this definition. Yet I can delete a message and the message won't be removed from the server for hours, if at all. I'll connect to the server multiple times in the interim, giving Mail a chance to update the server, but no dice.
I'll even empty the Trash in Mail and it still won't update on the server. Everything else seems to function in Mail and I have the problem on several different Macs with different POP accounts. Any ideas?
EDIT: I just deleted a bunch of old messages manually by using the Get Account Info interface. They successfully deleted, but newer ones which have been deleted and emptied from Mail (but not removed manually) still remain.

I just responded to another question that was similar to this one, so I have another suggestion or two..
Godaddy supports the automatic forwarding of email to any other email account. For backup purposes, I have my domain/email provider, http://www.fidomains.com , automatically forward any emails to a Gmail account. This allows me to have a backup to all my emails. Works Great! Godaddy will work well for that also.
Godaddy configuration info:
- Incoming mail server: imap.secureserver.net, Turn on SSL support and use port 993 for Godaddy. (Incoming)
- Outgoing server: smtpout.secureserver.net, SSL support and port 465 for Outgoing.

Emails are not being deleted from POP server

I have an E75.
When using Nokia Messaging on my phone, I am able to delete emails from my POP account.......at least it looks that way.
Later, when I access my POP account using my computer, the emails are still there.
Does anyone know how I can fix this problem?

This is a POP account for my work - I cannot change it to IMAP.
My phone has been syncing with it perfectly for almost 4 months.
However, in the last week or so, it stopped working properly.
Now, Nokia Messaging won't delete the email file off of the server.

How to stop emails being deleted from Hotmail server

Since the new IOS update I can't seem to choose whether I want to keep my emails in the Hotmail server or not if I delete them from my iPhone. Does anyone know how to stop that from happening?

My deleted emails on iPhone 4s are not being deleted from server

I'm facing a problem with my iPhone 4s when deleting emails. Unfortunately, they are not being deleted from the server. I tried setting the account in pop and imap with settings to delete from server and trash ticked. Still they keep on appearing in Outlook which is a double work to do. Please advise.

I'm no expert by far, but have had issues with this before.
IMAP should allow your iPhone to remove messages from the server.
But have you made sure both the iPhone and Outlook are connecting via IMAP?
If your iPhone does remove the messages from the server, but your computer is using POP, then the computer may download the email before it is removed form the server by your iPhone.
This was my issue, that my computer had already downloaded the message, and POP does not check later if it is deleted.
If you delete a message from Outlook does it disappear on the iPhone?
Alternativly you may need to check the email server settings.
Who is your email provider?
They may be able to check if IMAP allows you to remove emails.

E-mail being deleted from server

Hello,
I have aol e-mail and use my iPhone and Outlook Express configured. Everything's working great except one issue. My e-mails are being deleted from the server after a month or so. I can't determine if the deletion is because of the number of messages or the time on the server. Is there any way to prevent this? I am not sure if it's a setting w/ Outlook Express, the iPhone or Outlook Express.

Well, I use the full blown version of Outlook, and right now I'm on my work computer and it is a laptop using Vista so I don't have Outlook Express on here. However, I would imagine that it is in the Accounts section. This is where you set the parameters for the mail account. You can look there, or I can check later on after I get home. Maybe someone else that uses OE can chime in here and get you the location.

In our office we all have access to the main server. Recently a document that we need was deleted from the server. It's not in the trash. Can and how would we be able to find and recover this deleted document? Specifically I am looking for an excel document, and I already checked the recent docs on excel.

I have read through some responses to other people in this forum who have had this problem but nothing helps. i just upgraded to 10.3.9 and didn't change my mail preferences which have always been to delete a message from my server when it is moved from the inbox (i.e. when i hit "delete").
this always worked fine in tiger but it is not working in Panther.
any suggestions out there?

For about a week now my iphone has been downloading email from my email account which is a live.co.uk. When i log on to my email on a computer on the server all my message that have been download have been deleted without my permission. I check the setting and i have not select them to be deleted from the server it say never delete. I have restarted my iphone but yet it has helped.
Can anyone help as this an issue as some email need to be keeped on the server and not delete to the trash can.

I have set the iPhone "Delete from Server" option to "never", but when I download messages to the iPhone, it is still deleting from the server. Incidentally, the same happens for my iPad).
This is a POP account.
Have I configured something incorrectly or is this a bug?

Although it is possible to access a POP account with more than one email client, a POP account is designed to be accessed with a single email client only.
If you created the account with the Mail app on the iPad or iPhone using the Gmail account preset, the account was created as an IMAP account on the device.
When accessing an account with more than one email client and the email account provider supports IMAP account access, best to access the account as an IMAP account with the email client on your computer (Outlook) and with the Mail app on your iPad and/or iPhone. All server stored mailboxes with an IMAP account are kept synchronized with the server with each email client used to access the account. Send a message with the Mail app on your iPad or iPhone, and the message will be available automatically in the account's Sent mailbox on the other device and available automatically in the account's Sent mailbox when accessing the account with Outlook, and vice-versa. This is what an IMAP account is designed for.
A Gmail account can be accessed as a POP or IMAP account, and now as an Exchange account also with the iPhone's Mail app which provides for Push access with received messages and for syncing your Google online contacts and calendar events over the air with the account on your iPhone.
A POP account is from the early dark ages of email account access with an email client on a computer when most people had access to a single computer and well before there were any phones in the smart phone category and well before there were any handheld cell phones.

Connect the iPod to your computer and look at the storage used by the various categories as shown in the colored bargarph in iTunes.
Come back with the results.
An "other" larger than about 1 1/2 GB indicates corrupted files.

IPad Pop3 email deleting from mail server even though set to NEVER

Hello.
We are experiencing a most strange behaviour with our e-mail. We use a web host and access e-mail through POP3.
Two of our users are experiencing similar problems, and this is how their lives are setup:
1) Outlook 2010, set to remove e-mail from server once downloaded, however, we are manually polling to receive e-mails at will, rather than periodically.
2) iPad 2 3G - Set to delete e-mails from server "never".
3) iPhone 5 (ios 6) - Set to delete e-mails from server "never".
One of the users is receiving e-mails to their iPad, but not to either of the other two devices, sometimes to the two i-devices but not t Outlook, and sometimes to all three. Occasionally, they are not receiving e-mails at all.
I have talked to our web host, and in all instances and testing we have done with them, they can see e-mails received, and deleted from the server. However, their logs cannot tell us anymore than that.
Here's the scenario:
1) Send an e-mail. Check the web host e-mail interface and can see the e-mail has arrived in the user's inbox.
2) Open e-mail on iPad. Receive e-mail. Refresh webmail to see if e-mail is still present, and it is.
3) Hit send/receive in Outlook 2010. E-mail not received in Outlook 2010. Refresh webmail to see if e-mail is still present. It is not.
So from all indications, it looks like doing a send/receive in Outlook is deleting the message from the server, but it is not being received in outlook. I should note here that we have done extensive searches to check if the e-mail was received into some other folder, and have setup a search folder of all e-mails received today, just to make sure we weren't missing anything. The e-mails are indeed never reaching Outlook.
If we hit send/receive in Outlook 2010 after we receive the e-mail on the iPad AND HAVE CLOSED THE E-MAIL APP on the IPAD, then we DO receive the e-mail into Outlook 2010, and it disappears from the server.
This would leave me to guess that POP3 is trying to latch on to the e-mail on the server from both the iPad and Outlook 2010 at the same time and is failing, but Outlook is deleting the message from the server before it can actually download it because iPad has POP3 locked.
Anyone have any experience with this? Any way to stop it from happening?
