Apps appear to install but then disappear
I share an Apple account with my daughters. (2 iPhones, 1 iPod). Recently, we have been unable to install 2 particular apps (4 Pics 1 Word and Instagram) to my daughter's iPod Touch. When I synch with iTunes, it shows me that the app is installed. When watching the install process on the iPod, I see it installing right up until it is complete and then the app icon suddenly disappears. On iTunes, where it shows the layout of the apps on the iPod, you see the icons but on the iPod itself, they are not there. I did a search on the iPod and it confirms the apps are not there.
I'm at a loss. I've restarted the iPod, removed and reinstalled the apps many times from iTunes, but nothing works. Do some apps only allow you to have the apps on a certain number of devices?
OMG! After all the nonsense I went through to figure this out, I never imagined it would be the age restrictions I set-up! Thank you SO much. I just bumped the level up and it worked.

I called up Adobe and they do not support for anything pre Photoshop Elements 8.0. The menu bar is all greyed out so cannot do anything there but the photoshop elements icon is sitting in my dock and the work station screen fills my screen-If you have a mac, forget it. PSE 6 is the earliest version that will install sucessfully and run without trouble in 10.6 or 10.7. If you have PSE 4 installed when you upgrade to 10.6 it will continue to run but the installer just doesn't work in recent versions of OS X, so you can't reinstall it if you need to do so.

The AFL app appears as "installed" in the PURCHASED section of the App Store, but the app, itself, is nowhere to be seen. Any ideas?
Can you find it using the Spotlight search on the iPod? Maybe you just can't find it.
Also try resetting the iPod. Nothing is lost.

My IPad shut down this afternoon and now it won't start up. It's less than 1 year old. I tried plugging it in and pressing the on/off button. After holding the button in for several seconds, the Apple icon appears, but then disappears.
First, try this:
Plug it in to the wall using an Apple charger and Apple cable for several hours. The idea is to fully charge it.
Then hold the home and on/off buttons together for about 10 seconds. Hopefully the Apple logo will appear and it will start. Do not release the buttons until you see the Apple logo.
If it starts, great. If not, you say your iPad is less than a year old. If you bought it brand new from an Apple Store or Authorized Apple vendor, it is under warranty. Take it to an Apple Store or Authorized Apple Service Center for diagnosis and repair. -
ive created my apple account and verified it, i then signed into it so i could download an app for my ipod. however when i press install ap it goes to install but then it pops up saying you havent associated acountwith itunes. it then askme for creditcard
Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

The missing apps could have been done by setting the Restrictions that can hid those apps. If the backup was made with those retrictions set the the Restrictions are also restored.
Thus, if you get it to work restore to factory settings/new iPod, not from backup

Reboot holding down the Command and R keys. This will get you in to the Recovery partition. From there you can reinstall the entire OS. Please note, Server.app will not be included in the reinstall. You will need to log into your App store account to download it.

There are a number of other threads from people reporting a problem with a blank Updates tab in the App Store app - it looks like there is a problem at Apple's end which they need to fix.
Some posts are suggesting that you if you go into the Purchased tab in the App Store app you might be able to update the apps from there, though you will need to scroll through the list to find those with updates and individually update them. -

An app is considered to be installed if it shows up in a Spotlight search of local volumes. Bring up a search window in the Finder by pressing the key combination command-F. Search This Mac for the name of the application. Delete all copies that are found.

try resetting your phone by turning it off and back on again. Also, the server may still be slammed from all the activity, so it may take a little with to connect.

Interclue fails to initialize upon restart from either shut down or back out of hibernation. Works when re-installed, but then fails every time. What would cause this situation. Never had problems with this add-on with Firefox until I downloaded Firefox 4.0. I can disable, re-start, enable,re-start, and it works fine. The same scenario holds true if I uninstall and then re-install add-on.
Just a guess, but I wonder if you have some application or process hanging up that's stopping it from shutting down? You might try closing each application individually and see if this helps.

My exported movie was burned to a RW disc and working, but then disappeared. One day it was there, one day it was not. Also, I then opened the same file (as a project)and when I closed it, it asked if I wanted to save changes. I said no, and the next time I opened it, there was no content. Any thoughts on what might have happened?
Being a RW disc, perhaps you accidentally deleted it?

We won't know until you try the procedure. The reset will not affect the content of the iPod.
