I am prompted to choose an application to open the link. When the app pop up comes up it spins and nothing happens.

Installing the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo may help this issue.
It's ok to do this even though you are already running v10.6.8.
Make sure and restart your Mac after the combo is installed then try the App Store.

I have a rooted Nook running a version of Android and I was downloading apps hapilly until Friday night when I started getting error messages like this latest one "this link needs to be opened with an application" on the appbrain site. Is this problem browser related or strictly op system related? Can you help? Thanks.

Hey everyone, I'm trying to download the free trial of Acrobat XI Pro and it says Launch Application and then it says This link needs to be opened with an application send to: underneath it it says CreativeCloud(URI Handler) Then it says Choose an application I click choose and it gets me to a folder Programfiles (x86)>MozillaFirefox I press an exe and it says error- then I go to the the creative cloud for desktop and I press Try for Acrobat XI Pro and right before it ends the process I get this message:

Hi, I have just brought a new laptop running windows 8 and have installed Firefox. My old laptop was running XP and I didn't have a problem running Firefox on it. I am trying to install Kindle for PC on my new laptop but I keep getting the message "this link needs to be opened with an application". I've never seen this message before on any web browser that I have used. I have "googled" the question and some suggestions are:

Installing the OS X Lion Update 10.7.3 (Client Combo) will reinstall the App Store for you.
Restart your Mac after the combo is installed then try purchasing Aperture.

Depending upon what country that you are in you might be able to use automatic downloads : on the Store tab in Edit > Preferences (iTunes > Preferences on a Mac) tick the Music tickbox. That will only apply to future purchases.
For music that has already been bought you might be able to redownload it on that computer via the Purchased link under Quicklinks on the right-hand side of the iTunes store homepage

I've recently purchase the new Mountain lion on the app store. Everthing seems fine and the app store and launch pad indicate the software is downloading. However, it is not. The download still at zero percent after several hours. I try downloading other apps and the problem is the same.

Try this.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

My IPad 2 is not downloading apps that need to be "Updated" all it says is "waiting" there are no apps updating, Since so many are having this problem. Could it be a "Software Issue" 5.1 update somehow did something.
