Apps bought with old apple id? I cant update app as ID is no longer in use?

I have an old apple account that alot of my apps were bought on. I didnt use this id for a couple of months and now it is no longer a registerd ID, even though I did not delete it
I have a new ID now but my problem is that when I try and update or buy extras for the games it brings up my old id and asks for password, and gets no further as its obviously no longer registerd...So annoying! I have tried using my current apple ID but it has to be the ID you used when purchasing.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance Nikki

One, you cannot delete an Apple ID, all you can do is stop using it and let it fade away.
Two, apps are permanently tied to an aPple ID and can never be transferred to another.  You must use that same ID to update an app, or delete the app and repurchase/download under another ID.

  • Cannot update apps downloaded with old Apple ID after changing ID

My wife and I used to share my Apple ID on all mobile devices (iPhone 4S, iPad 2) and Mac so we could share contacts, calendar, purchases (apps & music).  My Apple ID was an inactive email address.  When I bought my iPhone 6 I decided to change Apple ID to a current email address and she created her own Apple ID for her iPhone 4S and iPad 2.  Figured we could still share data through Family Share.  Changed Apple IDs on all devices to the current ones.
Now, she cannot update apps on her devices as she gets message that her apps were downloaded with another Apple ID.  It asks for password for that Apple ID (my old ID), and the passwords for my previous Apple ID and my new password don't work.  I tried deleting the apps off her devices and then installing again from the Mac we backup to, but that did not work.
Also, is there a way to share contacts and calendar through Family Share or some other way.  We don't seem to be sharing any longer since making all these changes.  Why did I make the changes?  Because using the same Apple ID on all devices was causing me to get her text messages and vice versa, and other strange things after updating to iOS 8.
I have iPhone 6, she has 4S and iPad 2.  Have a MacBook Pro circa mid-2010 running Yosemite, version 10.10.2.  Mobile devices run iOS 8.1.3

It is a good thing you made 2 separate Apple ID.
I tried deleting the apps off her devices and then installing again from the Mac we backup to, but that did not work
It's normal it didn't work because you are reinstalling apps (that are on the Mac) that were purchased/obtained from your Apple ID. She needs to reinstall them through the App Store on her device, using her Apple ID.
share contacts and calendar through Family Share or some other way
Calendars can be shared through iCloud (A)(without Family Sharing), or using the following method (B) used for the contacts.
Contacts can neither be shared through iCloud or through Family Sharing.
To get them synced: Get all of your wife's contact on your iOS device. (you can send them to your iOS device through iMessage)
then go to your wife's iOS device: Settings --> Mail, Contacts, Calendar.
From there, disable her iCloud contacts, then add YOUR iCloud account, and select only contacts (and calendar if you want the method (B)).
This should answer all your questions.
    Cheers

  • Updating Apps bought with two apple accounts

Half the apps on my iphone are bought from an old hotmail account, and the other half are from a newer mobile me account... When I want to update all the apps, I have to sign in to both accounts (in iTunes) or it doesn't think I bought the apps!
Is there any way to migrate the apps so they are just under one email address? They are all on the same imac and the same iphone...

No, there is not. Apps (even free ones) are DRM-protected and linked to the account used to download them. You'd need to repurchase the apps to get them all on one account.
Actually, you should have kept your old AppleID. Note that the AppleID isn't used for email contact - it's just an account name, so it could be Fred or MyVeryOwnAccount. Apple does recommend using your email address for the AppleID - I think that's a bad idea because it results in exactly the problem you're having - confusion between AppleID and email address. You can change the email address associated with your account/AppleID at http://myinfo.apple.com, so there you could have kept your hotmail account as your ID, but associated the new MobileMe email with the account so your receipts went to the right place. At this point, you're pretty much stuck without re-buying half your apps. Sorry!

  • Cannot play purchased song bought with old apple id

I am using most current version iTunes on Macbook Pro Retina and Yosemite. I have a large iTunes music library that includes purchased items from all the way back when the store started. Through the years, I have had to change my apple ID as I have gotten rid of email addresses. Inevitably, a song will pop up that I bought in 2005 with an old Apple ID. I do not remember my password. When I go to "Forgot my apple ID" I cannot use the "email authentication" feature because I no longer have access to that old email. When I try security questions, it asks me for birthday. When I put that, I get: The authentication information provided does not match our records. Please verify your personal information and try again."
    What should I do?

  • Updating apps bought with 2 Apple IDs

    Hi everyone,
My cousin's iPhone 3GS running iOS5.0.1 has apps on it that have been purchased with 2 different Apple IDs.
Should it be possible to do updates to BOTH sets of apps in one operation by going to App Store > Updates and pressing Update All and then entering the password for each Apple ID.  Currently when my cousin does this he gets a message saying "Cannot Connect to iTunes Store."  The error is NOT due to either password being incorrect.
And one further question.  One of the Apple IDs I mentioned above, when you go into the Account area in iTunes, has no purchase history whatsoever (well it does now that I have purchased one test app with the account).  Yet this account has purchased both paid and free apps in the past (I know that free apps show in purchase history when things are working, not just paid ones).  Can any action with an iTunes account cause its purchase history not to show, for example if you change the e-mail address associated with an iTunes account?
    Thanks in advance,
    Philip

  • HT5621 How do I get my old apple id back to update apps ?

I Reset my appleID on my iPhone 4S and my iPad 2 now if I try to update my apps it still gives the previous appleID therefore I'm being prompted to update with original appleID but its not letting me update saying using incorrect appleID or password . What do I do to get back on track ? I'm kind of illiterate to the apple PC world can anyone help in common language ?

If you updated your existing account with a new email address then try logging out of your account on the phone and iPad by tapping on your id in Settings > iTunes & App Stores (Settings > Store on the iPad if it's on iOS 5) and then log back in and see if that 'refreshes' the account on them.

  • Cant update apps on my new imac 2012

have just received my new imac 2012 from apple store but cant update apps. keep getting message " To update this app. sign into the account you used to purchase it".  These are preinstalled apps (pages, numbers, iphoto). have spoken to numerous people at apple support but no one can give me answer. this is totally ridiculous. Will I be obliged to return my imac to apple store because no one at apple can help me?

You need to associate the computer with an Apple ID in the App Store.
It's been a while since I had a new system but from memory all I had to do was to sign into the App Store with the Apple ID  I wanted associate with the system, this ID will be needed for all future updates for all the pre-installed software. Once you sign in with the ID go to the Purchases page I believe that is where you will link the system and ID.

  • My iphone 5 wont let me update apps keeps popping up with old apple id how do i fix this

my iphone 5 wont let me update apps keeps popping up with old apple id how do i fix this??

All apps downloaded/purchased are tied to the apple ID used to download/purchase them.
If you change your Apple ID and do not wish to use the old apple ID and password to update them, you have to delete them and redownload or buy them under the new apple ID.

You need to delete and redownload them to do that. This may require repurchasing paid ones.

  • Help please how do I install Apps from my old Apple ID ?

    Hi
I have two Apple ID wold like to install an Apps from my old Apple ID.
    Please help

Go to your System Preferences, scroll down to iTunes and App Stores. Tap your current Apple ID, and press "Sign Out." Then go ahead and sign in with the account you bought the apps on.
Go to the App Store, and go to Updates. Once it loads, you can navigate to your previous purchases, which by tapping on the little iCloud logo, you can download.
    Cheers!

  • App Store - Changing old Apple ID to a new one defintively

    Hello,
I want to install new apps on my mac but an old Apple Id is proposed. I want to change it, because the old one is inactive.
But the "Popup" does not allow to do it.
I tried to Disconect and reconnect  with the new Apple Id but the old one comes again and again ...
    Some Ideas,
    Thank you.

Use the sign out function in the Mac App Store's Store menu to sign out of the old Apple ID and into the new Apple ID.
However; content is forever tied to the Apple ID that bought it. Apple does not transfer content from one Apple ID to another. Apple does not merge Apple IDs. You will never be able to access your content bought with another Apple ID with a new Apple ID.

  • Can I sync purchased/merge/move apps from an old apple-ID to a new one?

    Hello all.
I have been using an apple-ID, which I have been sharing with my family, for about two years now.
Now I want to have my own apple-ID, so that I can have fully control over it myself, and so that I can use iCloud on my own apple devices and not on the whole family's!
The problem is, though, that I have purchased a lot of apps on that old apple-ID, and I do not feel like buying all of those apps again on a new apple-ID - that would be a waste of money!
So, is it possible to sync/merge/move/share those purchased apps from the old apple-ID to a new apple-ID?
Of course I can keep all of the apps on my devices, but then again, it would be very unpractical to purchase and update some apps with the new ID, while I still have to update other apps with the old one.
    Any solutions?

"So, is it possible to sync/merge/move/share those purchased apps from the old apple-ID to a new apple-ID?"
    No.
    Sorry.
Apps will always be tied to the account from which they were purchased, and will always have to be updated using that account.
