Apps crashing back to home screen

Apple TV software is 7.0.1 (6912)
Recently some of the apps on my Apple TV have started to crash randomly during playback.  The apps I use most are YouTube, Netflix, and ESPN and these account for 95% of my Apple TV viewing.  But I doubt the problem is limited to just these three apps.  The apps startup fine and begin streaming content.  Anywhere from 10-30 minutes into playback the app suddenly quits and I am returned to the home screen.  No error messages, no nothing.  Steaming fine one second and back on the home screen the next second.  I can startup the app again and it will go for another 10-30 minutes, then crash, and I'm back at the home screen again.  This is super annoying for the obvious reason that it disrupts viewing but also because when I reopen the app and reselect the same content it starts playing from the beginning again.  Then you have to fiddle around fast-forwarding for 5 minutes to get back to where you were when the app last crashed.
I'm not expecting any useful assistance from Apple.  But I am wondering if others are experiencing this type of issue.  A quick Google search doesn't seem to turn up much for this particular issue.  Which is odd since generally when I have trouble with Apple stuff (sadly with increasing frequency) there is usually already lots of information on the Internet.  I did find a few hits on Apple TV rebooting itself randomly but I don't think that's my issue.  Just the app quits (not the whole Apple TV) and sends me back to the home screen.
My Apple TV tells me that I'm at the latest software build as of today 11/13/14.
Anyone with a similar issue?  Any thoughts about how to fix this issue?  I've kind of given up on Apple TV for the time being as the issue is just too annoying, too disruptive, and really takes the enjoyment out of streaming content on the Apple TV.

Thank you for your reply.  I understand this is a user forum.  While Apple may not directly comment in this forum you can be sure they *are* monitoring this forum.  It may be people, it may be software, but they are watching.  The forums are a treasure trove of data about Apple products, how people use them, what's working, not working, etc.  Apple would be a fool to ignore the content in these forum posts.
I do appreciate your trying to help with my issue.  I should have added in my original post that my Apple TV is on a wired GbE connection.  I do use wireless on my home network for mobile devices (iphone, ipad, etc.) but never for permanent/static devices like a computer or Apple TV device.  Wireless can not provide nearly the bandwidth of a wired connection nor the low latency.  I'll take the quality of the wired connection over the convenience of the wireless connection every time.
I've had ISP outages during Apple TV use and never has this caused either the Apple TV to crash nor the app to crash.  When the uplink goes down, the app simply streams what's left in its buffer (usually a few minutes worth of content) and then stops playing while it tries to re-establish a connection to the source.  In my experience the app (any app I happen to be using at the time) has never crashed due to disruption of the WAN uplink.
I just checked the forums a few minutes ago and noticed that another member has just posted on the exact same issue.  You responded to that user too.  This doesn't seem like a network related issue.  I think this is an Apple TV OS bug and I think we're going to see a lot more posts on this issue in the near future unless Apple quickly fixes the problem.

    1. Close all apps in the Task Bar. Double-click the Home button and hold apps down for a second or two. Tap the minus sign to close app.
    2. Hold the Sleep/Wake and Home button down until you see the Apple Logo.

    First thing to try is to reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.
    Could also be not enough free space for the iPad to operate efficiently. With iOS 7 it is recommended that you have 15-20% of the storage space on the device free.  For a 16 GB device that is 2.4-3.2 GB free. For a 32 GB device that is 4.8-6.4 GB free. For a 64 GB device that is 9.6-12.8 GB free.
    If neither of these suggestions helps, Make an appointment at an Apple Store to have your device examined by a technician. Or contact Apple Support.

    My iPod touch has been crashing to the home screen when I stay on aps such as Safari, Facebook, or the App Store for a short period of time. For example, when I go to the App Store to update my apps it crashes right away, wheras in Safari it wll crash after a few minutes of browsing the web.
    Are there ways to prevent this from happening?

    ATtempt to power off your device and power it back on, if that doesn't work reset all settings should resolve it for you

    Do a soft reset it wont delete anything .

    Your apps are crashing. Try some basic troubleshooting steps and see if they help at all.
    Quit all apps completely and restart the iPad. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the task bar will appear with all of your recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar. Restart the iPad.
    Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
    Or .... Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
    Start with those two things and see if the apps quit crashing - or see if the crashes are less frequent.

    I have an iPhone 5, 5S and ipad air all on version 8.1.  Safari is not working on any of them.  It tries to load, the blank safari screen comes up, then it crashes and goes back to home screen.  I have to use google chrome to access the internet. I tried restoring my one phone to factory, installed the backup, reset the safari data, reset network settings and still no help.  Can anyone tell me how the **** to delete safari and re-install it? I don't know what else to do about this issue.

    ok. seems to be working now. i wiped (settings/general/reset/erase all content and settings) the iphone6plus that had 8.1 on it and backed up from a backup made with 8.0.2.
    Mail is now loading instantly. but now i have to load all my passwords again for everything - even though i had encrypted backups. weird.

    It may help to force close all open apps, then reset your iPhone.

    If you're still unable to open the Mail app, the next step would be to reinstall iOS on your device by placing it in Recovery Mode, then choosing Update in iTunes.
    Make sure that you have iTunes 12 or later on your computer.
    Put your device in recovery mode.
    When you get the option to restore or update, select Update. This will reinstall iOS without erasing your data.

  • Have been using computer to put cds on ipad (icloud).   Now the when you touch the'music' icon, the screen comes up blank and goes immediately back to home screen.

    Have been using laptop to put cds on ipad (icloud).   Now when you touch the 'music' icon, it goes to a blank screen which had been showing playlists, artists, etc for approx 2000 songs I had already put on there.   On another iPad they are still there, but this one is blank.   Cannot find the songs!!  The blank screen immediately goes back to home screen.   What to do??   Thanks.

    Put it in the dock at the bottom. Apps put there stay there and show at the bottom of all home screens.
