Apps don't uninstall/ just an ICON. Advice Need HELP!!!
PLEASE HELP!!!
1. I had a original droid and backed up everything with backup pro. When I got my X I switch out the SD cards and restored everything to the X.
Now I have some apps that don't work. I've tried many different ways to uninstall it but it says it doesn't exist. So basically there is just an icon from the app that I can't get rid of. Any ideas on this???
2. Also. Is there a task killer that manages which tasks to kill. Not just when I push kill but will kill the app if it tries to restart itself. Because we all know that if you use a task killer, within seconds if you press it again the apps are already restarting. I need something that can stop some apps from permanently restarting or running in the background, or connecting to the internet.
3. Is there an app that manages which apps can connect to the internet. Because most apps required full access to the network or internet. What if I don't want them to be able to do that unless I'm going to be using that app. Anyone know of an app like that?
4. If you have tether for android they says it gets up to like 5 Mbps, but mine didn't so I contacted their support. They said do you have other programs using the network/internet. Well yes..Most of the apps all require full internet/network access. So my speed was only Mbps. That is why I asked question number 3. Anyone have any tips to make it faster? Or turn off other apps/programs using the network??
5. Rooting my phone. What are the advantages of a rooted droid?
6. When I save apps to the SD card will my options to place widgets/shortcuts etc change. Like I use jorte, a calendar. I used to have the option to put the calendar on the home screen. Now when I click and hold the screen and it gives me the android/ Motorola widgets, it isn't available any more?? Will Putting things like this on my SD card effect there syncing if the program or app requires it???
7. Any battery savers that do any of the things mentioned above? Or work really well
8. If anyone knows a lot about electronics, Home theater speakers, receivers, would you please contact me because I need help in that department. If more technical stuff, not just hooking up some wires.

I am going to make a wild guess that you might have installed some apps to your sd card when you had it in the Droid or if you used Backup Pro you restored system settings from the backup file and this can cause all kind of issues even if done to original device.
My suggestion is
1. Copy everything off of card and format it. AND THEN COPY ONLY NEEDED FILES BACK ON CARD..
2. Hard Reset device
3. ONLYrestore apps, appointments, mms and sms.

There really isn’t a app that you can use to keeps apps from running all together but Advance Task Killer is a good app to help because you can set it to close all apps when the device backlight is turned off, you can set it to do it on a time schedule but I learned that option can use a good amount of battery. The backlight option shows no major power use.

There isn’t anyway to restrict a app from the web, when you install a app that reports it requires this access the program is granted clearance when you agree to install app.

There isn’t any way to change this because this is controlled more from the network than the phone because the apps that would access to update itself would not affect the network transfer that much plus the network never really transfers at the advertised speeds in most areas..
Also are you using a 3rd party app or the Verizon tethering app because the 3rd party apps do not access the web through the same web protocols that restricts data connections speeds as well.
5. Rooting my phone. What are the advantages of a rooted droid?
This information can not be discussed on this forum because doing this to your device can void your warranty on your device and Verizon frowns on this.

Only apps with this supported option will allow you to move the app to the SD Card, usually the developer configures the apps that can be installed on SD Card so the system will not be impacted by installing the apps on card. Some widgets do get lost when coping to SD Card but when the developers notice this issue they usually work in a fix later.

I use only the stock battery saver app and configure it to work well with my use habits, I do not suggest a 3rd party power management app but other may have other opinions on this subject.

The next best suggestion I have is to back up your device in itunes and restore the software back onto your device. It sounds like you might have had a error when downloading the software update.

Songs purchased from the iTunes store cut off half way. Folks have suggested downloading them again, but I have followed the steps and I don't have a "download icon" to click. I have the latest version of iTunes. Any suggestions?

Just bought used MBP, need help registering Mountain Lion
Hi guys, I'm very new to the Apple community. I recently bought a used Macbook Pro (October 2011) on eBay, the seller tells me that in order to actually use this computer, I need an Apple ID and have bought/downloaded Mountain Lion.
I want to get this all sorted out before I recieve my MBP in the mail. Here's my problem, I have obviously made an Apple ID, however I can't seem to buy and download Mountain Lion on this site......I'm using a PC laptop currently. I don't have access to any other Mac computer to buy a copy of Mountain Lion (if that even is the correct terminology) in the meantime.
Is this whole process even necessary? What should I do?

Devin BWith Apple's new delivery system of the OS and the new licensing requirements to go along with it, it has become ridiculously confusing. Have the seller use Internet Recovery and do the following: boot holding down Command + Option + R to get to Disk Utility. Wipe the drive. Reinstall Mac OS - using the internet recovery will reinstall the original system (whereas using the regular recovery will reinstall the current system), so he must use the internet recovery. Shut down computer when it is either done installing, but just before the setup screen comes on. You can boot up and set it up using your own ID. Later, you can buy Mountain Lion and install it. This should work (no guarantees though - the "official" way from Apple is for the seller to contact iTunes and un-register his license in an email to them advising them that you will be buying it). That info is from a senior advisor at Apple.
With all this, remind the seller to also deauthorize the computer in iTunes. -
I can't download any app without a credit card and I don't have a credit card I need help.
Please can someone help me I need to update my apps, etc. It started just a few days ago when I ran out of money on my gift card and the problem is that I don;t have a credit card. So what do I do?

After recently downgrading from iOS 7 back to iOS 6.1.4 on my iPhone whenever I go into the App Store to redownload my apps it only gives me the option "open" but I don't have the apps, therefore I don't HAve the app to open. Please help
How can u downgrade. Apple doesn't allow that. Unless your iPhone 5 is jail broken. iOS 7 isn't even out yet. There Is no way u can get iOS 7 unless it was beta. And if so beta is having some issues.

Time Zone issue in the calendar.

I had the same problem on my newly acquired iPhone 6 as well as my slightly older iPad Mini (2), but the problem did not start until after I set up my iPhone 6 recently. The link (iOS: Troubleshooting issues with date and time - Apple Support) in Jason's response above is good advice and should fix the problem, but then your phone will not automatically adjust time zones if you go from one time zone to another. That may not be a problem much, or at all depending on how much you travel. Something else I noticed is that you are specifically referring to using the Calendar App. Be sure to check Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Time Zone Override (near the bottom under the "Calendars" section). If Time Zone Override is turned off, "events will display according to the time zone of your current location." I don't know for sure if the "location" it's talking about is determined by the "Time & Date" settings mentioned in Jason's response or some other calculation (GPS, Cell Signal, etc.). I'm thinking that if you turn off the feature to automatically set your time zone, it may affect your calendar as well.
Possible Alternative Solution...
My iPhone and iPad calenders sync with my Google Calendar, so this may be a whole different circumstance, although I encountered the same problem you're having where any appointments I created on my iPhone 6 (and suddenly on my iPad Mini as well, which created events properly before) listed the GMT Time Zone instead of my own. I checked the settings mentioned above, and checked the Calendar Time Zone settings directly in my Google account and all was correct... except for the iOS Time Zone issue displayed on the iOS Calendar. So, I created a new event in the iOS Calendar, and when I set the time for the event I made sure to change the Time Zone setting to my current/correct Time Zone, and then hit Done. After doing this a couple of times and changing/correcting the Time Zone each time I created the new appointment, it now uses the correct Time Zone for new events on both my iPhone 6 and on the iPad Mini as well, as if it synchronized the two back to the correct Calendar Time Zone settings. I suspect it had something to do with the fact that I set up a new iPhone on my account recently, but I don't know for sure. One question for you is whether you set up, restored, or added any new iOS devices to your account recently. It may or may not make a difference, but it's worth checking into. Good luck! -

If you didn't already do so, try uninstalling iTunes and all of it's components (not just iTunes and AMDS), then reinstall iTunes, as discussed here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925. Follow the article and uninstall them in the order indicated.

Just bought IPhone and need help
I just bought my iphone and i have installed the AIM program. As I am trying to connect i am recieving a message that says to access the AIM network i must have a network connection. WHy is this happening. Doesn't this work on the 3g network or do i have to have the WIFI connection in order to use this?

You need to have a "E", "3G" or Wifi icon to the left of your Cell Provider up at the top. If you are on WiFi then check and make sure you are getting a valid IP address. If you are on Edge or 3G make sure you are able to check the weather and get safari.
Some troubleshooting steps might be iPhone > Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings or contacting your Cell Provider to make sure the data plan is set up properly.
If everything work except aim try removing it and downloading it again and see if it has the same errors with a different aim account. You can make a new one at http://www.aim.com/helpfaq/startingout/screennames.adp

Problems with the line chart - dashboard
