Apps Don't Work When Synching to New Computer

Hello,
I recently got my first Iphone 3G while I was out of town. I synched it with my MacBook and have loved it. When I got home, I wanted to synch it with my MacPro instead because that is where all my real data is stored, but when I do, the Apps dont work. I then have to synch it back to my MacBook to get the apps to work again, but all my music and movies go away. Whats a guy to do?
Stephen

James Houser,
Have you tried the steps in article http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1702? It's possible in addition to the other steps listed here, updating or reinstalling the apps on the Mac Pro alone may resolve the issue.
Hope this helps,
Raleigh

All Mac apps don't work after cloning on new hd.
I used CCC to clone 10.6.8 then onto new drive. Everything works BUT all Mac apps.
Error: You can't open the app(s) because it is not supported on this type of Mac. (On MacBook 2011)
    Thanks for your help.

All good. Just drag and dropped each application and they worked until I did a restart. Then repaired permissions and everything works.

  • My apps don't work after synching music files from my PC

My apps don't work after synching music files from my PC through Itunes....though all the apps are shown in the Apps window in Itunes (The Apps match the iTunes account on the iPhone).....
Disconnecting after the sync and After downloading any app from Appstore through Wi-Fi all my apps start working.....
    Please Help.....

What happend is your phone forgot it was authorized to work with items associated with your apple id. If it happens again, download any free app to prompt the sign in, once you install the free app the others should work.

  • Apps don't work when bought by someone else?

My son bought me two apps for my iPhone 3G when I first got it, ie from his own iTunes account. When I began buying my own apps, with my own account, the ones he'd bought me ceased to work. I bought them again myself and they still don't work. That's a real bore as they were apps I needed. Any way round this??

I am not sure if they are bought by another account active on a different iPhone, but I have two separate accounts, one for Spain and one U.S. in iTunes, and I buy and download with either without problems. Only have to make sure I sign in with the appropiate one on iTunes for updates.

  • Certain apps don't work when not connected to wifi

This problem has only begun recently but when I'm not connected to wifi so out and about, it seems that the only things which work are texts, emails  and the kik app.
BBM, facebook, twitter, browser etc won't work unless I'm connected to wifi

  • My World blue blank screen, apps don't work

I wrongly updated OS6 in my Bold 9700, phone didn't work well when I realised I downgraded software to latest version OS5. Since then, when I try to access info in Myworld about an App the screen goes blank, I can pres the menu key and it gives the option to download but then I see nothing. I have no problems with some apps, but facebook just doesn't work at all. I download it but it doesn't give me the option to 'run'. In the application list it appears,so it is in the phone but there is no icon. Other apps (such as bank apps) don't work either, they show 'error 'net.rim.device.api.ui.container.GridFieldManager not found'.
I have done a security wipe, deleted and reinstalled all apps including Blackberry World. I have reinstalled software about 4 times, battery pulls...you name it.
I have data allowance with O2, but the phone is an unlocked AT&T Bold 9700 brought from the States.
Any tips on what else can I do?The phone used to reset itself when I accessed My World,it seems it stopped doing that now, but still can't see anything when I want to see an App info. Thanks!!

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
A few things to try, in order of "less destructive" to more-so:
I suggest the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2 each should result in a message coming to your BB...please wait for that before proceeding to the next step):
    1) Register HRT
KB00510 How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with the wireless network
Please wait for one "registration" message to arrive to your Messages app
    2) Delete and Resend Service Books
KB05000Delete the service book for the BlackBerry Internet Service email account from the BlackBerry smartphone
If you have no CMIME entry, then skip the deletion
KB02830 Send the service books for the BlackBerry Internet Service
Please wait for "Activation" Messages, one per already configured email account, to arrive in your Messages. If you have no already configured email accounts, please wait 1 hour.
    3) Batt Pull Reboot
With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
I suggest that you clear the AppWorld application cache:
    1. Open App World
    2. Go to My World
    3. Follow one (and only one!) of these steps:
3a. For keyboard-based BB's -- Hold down the ALT key and then press, in sequence R, then S, then T
3b. For Touch Screen Only BBs -- Hold the num-lock (!?123) button so it locks and then press, in sequence 3, then 4, then (
    3c. For newer (e,g., OS6 and 7) BB's, see this KB:
KB24714 How to clear the BlackBerry App World cache
    4. AppWorld should close.
    5. If your BB locks after issuing the cache clear, perform a battery pull reboot
    6. Return to AppWorld/MyWorld (it may be sluggish while it re-synchronizes).
If step (4) does not happen as listed, then the clear cache did not work.

Given that, it's possible that the OS loading did not go well (for one reason or another). Consequently, you might want to do it again.
At the top of each device forum, there should be some "sticky" threads that discuss the OS levels available for many models. If they include your model, then please use those as reference as you proceed. Otherwise, you will have to dig through the official download portal for OS packages for your model:
    http://us.blackberry.com/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
From a PC, you can install any compatible (e.g., for your exact BB Model Number) OS package to a BB via this procedure:
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-Device-Software/How-To-Reload-Your-Operating-Syste...
Note that while written for "reload" and the Storm, it can be used to upgrade, downgrade, or reload any BB device model -- it all depends on the OS package you download and install to your PC. If that OS package is from a carrier other than the carrier for which your BB was originally manufactured, then delete, on your PC, all copies of VENDOR.XML...there will be at least one, and perhaps 2, and they will be located in or similarly to (it changes based on your Windows version) these folders:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
    C:\Users\(your Windows UserName)\AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML
Be sure that you remove, from your PC, any other BB device OS packages as having more than one installed to the PC can cause conflicts with this procedure.
You may also want to investigate the use of BBSAK (bbsak.org) to perform the wipe it is capable of.
You may also want to try this procedure to perhaps narrow down the precise causal item:
Load your OS "bare bones"...if anything is optional, do not install it.
If the behavior presents immediately, then try a different OS with step 1
If the behavior does not immediately present, then run for as long as it takes for you to be sure that the behavior will not present.
Add one thing -- no matter how tempting, just one.
If the behavior does not present immediately, then again run for long enough to be sure it will not have the same problem
Repeat steps 4 and 5 until all things are loaded or the behavior presents
When the behavior presents, you know the culprit...the last thing you loaded.
If the behavior does not re-present, then you know that either step 1 or 2 cured it.
If the behavior presents no matter what, then you likely have a hardware level issue for which no amount of OS or software can cure.
If you are on MAC, you are limited to only your carriers sanctioned OS packages...but can still use any levels that they currently sanction. See this procedure:

  • After software update (Sept. '09) apps don't work and some missing

Plugged my phone in and itunes said there was an update I needed to install. Did that then it said there was a problem with the phone and it needed to be formatted before itunes could read it, did that too. Then while it was syncing up again after formatting it kept telling me there was a problem and items could not be found. All downloaded apps, some are missing completely from the phone, are no longer working. HELP!

    expresso3 wrote:
yes i am fully aware of that!!!
This "i do not see an update when i connect to itunes!!!!" suggested otherwise.
the post says "after software update (sept. '09) apps don't work and some missing"
there has been no update in sept 09!!!!
Perhaps the OP doesn't connect the iPhone to the computer very often.

  • After update iOS 8 some of the apps don't work please help me

After update iOS 8 some of the apps don't work please help me As fast as you can

There can be some of that. Unfortunately, it's up to the app developers to make their app work with the iOS.
So checking for updates can help. You can also look at the reviews for the app, see if others have the same issue. If 8 has broken the app, all you can do is wait.
In some cases, a reset can help. Hold down the sleep and home keys for about 20 seconds. When you see the silver apple, let go and let it reboot and try again. (this can work if the app is fine with iOS8 but is just glitching...it's a harmless reboot of the system)
Another thing to try is to force quit the app(s) and force them to reboot. Double tap the home button. Flick the preview for the app up and off the screen to close it. Then single tap the home button to exit the mode. Try your app again. If it's just a glitch then this sometimes clears it up.
I know once I updated my devices I then had several updates pushed out - updates that required iOS8 so weren't available before the update.

  • I updated to ois 4.3 and now my apps don't work

I updated my 3rd generation ipod to the ios 4.2.1 and now half my apps don't work. How do I get back to where they do and is there some way to fix this bug?

    - First try resetting your iPod.  Nothing will be lost:
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Some users have said installing a new app resolves the problem.  Thus, I would try purchasing a free app.

since updating my apps don't work anymore, the app store won't connect, I tried deleting apps and reinstalling, no go. The phone is just a phone now.

Try accessing the Store through the Music App first then use the other app.
