You do a restore as new to wipe the iPhone then at the end of restore you will be asked to restore from backup. Choose your iPhone backup.
Note you cannot restore an IOS newer than the IOS on iPhone, you need to update iPhone first. -
When syncing my iTunes to my iPad from the laptop, I get a list of missing songs; they are in the library, but not in the music folder on my HD. In particular, I uploaded 3 CDs at the same time, all are in my library, and all synced to the iPad - but the music from two of them are missing from the music folder. Questions are (a) where might they have gone? and (b) is there a way of "reverse loading" them back to my hard drive from the iPad? Thanks in advance!

It sounds like your issue here is that iTunes can not find the files for some of the songs you have brought into it. This happens occasionally even if the songs have not been moved from the location that iTunes places them on import or purchase. When you try to use the song, iTunes prompts you to find the file, as you have seen.
To find the file, use the information in this article to navigate through the iTunes media folders -

If you are still unable to locate the files, you may need to download them from the iTunes store again, or rip them from your CDs. See this article for assistance with downloading your past purchases -

Do you have an Restrictions set that would hide the apps? Settings>General>Restrictions
Have you used the Spotlight search? Maybe you just can't find them.
Next

They are not disabled and when I downloaded them to my firefox on my old laptop (just got a new laptop) it wasnt a problem. They just popped up in the top right corner.

I recently upgraded my phone to 5.0 and now cannot access my ringtones theat were purchased. They are in my itunes on the desktop but won't sync to my phone. Any suggestions??
OK. In iTunes on the computer, since you have the ringtones there, one simple method to try would be to drag them to the desktop, and then directly from the desktop to your phone in the Devices menu in iTunes.

So some of my purchased songs from iTunes are not syncing to my iPhone. Is there a setting or format issue? If so, how do I change it? The songs show up on my iPhone as if they synced, but do not play. There is an icon to the right saying it needs to be downloaded from iCloud and when I click it, it wont download.

I downloaded "O Brother Where Art Thou" and four of the 19 songs will not play. The are skipped in the purchased play list and in music list.
If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copies of the dodgy tracks and try redownloading fresh copies. For instructions, see the following document:

Otherwise, I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the items that are not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the items, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" links next to the items. -

Hi...my movie project has lost the audio track. I can see it but nothing plays.
The movie record has its audio but the imported iTunes track is silent.This might sound weird, but here's an idea which worked for me re music that was newly added to itunes and showed up in my ipod but wouldn't play - I simply played the tracks in itunes first, just a second of time or so will do it, not the whole track, then connect the ipod and sync again and this time they played - hope this helps.

i updated my iphone software on monday and as it was updating back it stopped and showed an error that the activation server is unavailable and that i should try again after some time i have been trying since monday but all to no avail i still get the same message again. kindly help out on wat to do.
This message usually indicates that your phone has been hacked/modified or jailbroken.
Was your phone ever locked to a different phone carrier? IF it was how did you unlock it? -

All music is syncing across from my purchased items to my phone... However, some are missing from the 'purchased' playlist and I can only come across them when scrolling through the 'Artist' or 'Song' menu. I then have to manually add them back to my purchased playlist.
Is there any way to stop this?
I want all my 'purchased' songs in that playlist and then have all of my other music from CDs in their individual ones (which works fine).
This happens for about 5/6 every time and it's a nightmare trying to work out which ones are missing so to speak unless I stumble upon then.
So basically, the songs ARE on the phone but not showing in the playlist, just to make that clear.
Many thanks in advance...This sounds very similar to an issue that I experienced. There was a phantom 6G assigned to movies even when no movies were on my iPad. I could make the phantom 6G come and go by checking/unchecking the "Sync Movies" box in iTunes.
First, try a system reset. It probably won't fix your problem but it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore. Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."
There is one other thing that you can try but I don't want to describe it unless the above doesn't help.
