Apps for email attachments

Are there any apps that allow email attachments to be opened.  I can't open wmv or any other attachments that I receive until I get to my computer.  I have searched the apps catalog on my Palm Pre, but can't seem to locate anything that works.
Post relates to: Pre 2 p102eww (Verizon)

Your Pre can open any attachment that has support for the file format.
MicroSoft's .wmv format is not supported.  Page 142 of the Verizon Pre 2 User Guide states:
"You can view DRM-free videos that you receive as email attachments or
that you copy from your computer in the MPEG-4, H.263, H.264, MP4,
M4V, 3GP, 3GPP, 3G2, and 3GP2 formats. You can view videos you open in
a multimedia message in MP4 format. Videos play on your phone in
landscape orientation."

  • Default app for opening attachments

I have Appleworks 6.2.9 and the 30 day trial for office 2004. How the heck do I remove "word" as the default app for opening attachments and make Appleworks the default app!? I've read a whole lot of previous questions but can't get an answer. dlog

If you are referring to Word files received as an email attachment, save the attachment from the message to the Desktop or your preferred location of choice.
Select the Word file via the Finder and use Get Info for the file.
At Open With, select AppleWorks via the pop-up window.
Below "Use this application to open all documents like this", select Change All.

  • How do I make purchased apps, like numbers, keynote, pages, office pro, show up in "open in" function for email attachments?

How do I make my purchased apps such as, Pages, Numbers, Keynote, Office Pro, available for opening attached documents in email in the"open in" function?

    Thanks for your reply.
Anyway, here is what I am trying to do:
It is for a context sensitive display. I am going to sprinkle command links throughout the system and each link will query the database for a specific string and bring out the results in a pop up window.
I have a backing bean that does the query and a JSF form (that I am trying to pop up) that uses this bean to display the results.

  • Setting up directory object for emailing attachments

    Hi,
I am having trouble trying to send emails with attachments. I have downloaded and created the the demo_mail package and the pdf_mail procedure. I also have the send_email_attach procedure using utl_mail.
I am not sure, or familiar on setting up the directory object. I don't have privileges to do this so I need to understand exactly what needs to be done so I could relay it to my dba.
In the Send_email_attach procedure there is this code
"fHandle := UTL_FILE.FOPEN('/Source/Apps/prod/reports', 'mypdf.pdf', 'r');" I put the directory path the file is in as the first argument and the name of my pdf in the second one. When I run it, it gives me an error:
ORA-20001: The following error has occured : ORA-29280: invalid directory path
I'm thinking I need the directory object in the first argument? Is this correct. And then do I put the file in the directory path that the directory object points to? and keep as the second argument?
using the pdf_mail procedure it sends the email but the attachment in the email is bad. Acrobat just says: Acrobat reader could not open '~6034454.pdf' because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly formated).
This is the code I use to call it:
    pdf_mail('myemail',
    'another email',
    'This is a test',
    'Hope it works',
    '/Data/oracle/product/10g__BI/tools/web/icons/myicons/mypdf.pdf',
    EMPTY_BLOB());
I am not sure what to put in the last two arguments. In the next to last argument I put the path where the file is and in the last argument I put EMPTY_BLOB() call. If I put the name of the pdf in quotes it gives me an error ORA-06550: wrong number or types of arguments in call to pdf_mail.
I'm not sure how to reference the files or the directory.
any help would be greatly appreciated.
    thanks

You need to use a directory object to do this properly. If you don't have privileges then get them...
The UTL_FILE_DIR parameter has been deprecated by oracle in favour of direcory objects because of it's security problems.
The correct thing to do is to create a directory object e.g.:
CREATE OR REPLACE DIRECTORY mydir AS 'c:\myfiles';Note: This does not create the directory on the file system. You have to do that yourself and ensure that oracle has permission to read/write to that file system directory.
Then, grant permission to the users who require access e.g....
GRANT READ,WRITE ON DIRECTORY mydir TO myuser; Then use that directory object inside your FOPEN statement e.g.
fh := UTL_FILE.FOPEN('MYDIR', 'myfile.txt', 'r');Note: You MUST specify the directory object name in quotes and in UPPER case for this to work as it is a string that is referring to a database object name which will have been stored in uppercase by default.

  • HT4863 Why is iCloud's maximum files size for email attachments so small? 20MB?!

    ARGH.

Small? It's only slightly less than Gmail (25mb) and double Hotmails (10mb).
Email is not designed for sending files, especially large ones. They have to be encoded which increases the size just to pass through as email.
Use a proper file sending service, or upload the file somewhere and send a link to it by email.

  • Scanning documents for email attachments.

When I scan a document with Preview, and I want to attach it to an email, it will not let the attachment show just as a PDF file.  It always opens the document in the email.  Can this be changed?

It is a pdf file when the receiver gets the email.

  • HT204093 Is their an app for Yosemite 10.10.0 for attachments

For Yosemite 10.10.0 is there an app for mail attachments? When I add one attachment it becomes part of the e-mail instead of an attachment.

When you add an image to a message it will be displayed within the message. Whether it's displayed in the message or as an attachment when the recipient views it depends entirely on how their email client is set up - most default to displaying images within the message - and there's nothing you can do to influence this.
When the attachment is something a browser can't display - including an image which has been zipped - it will appear as an attachment when you add it. If you don't want it within the body of the message wait to add it until you have completed the text.

  • I used to shoot video in my Powershot S3 IS (MVI_.AVI) and load it into iPhoto, I used quicktime pro so I could convert it for emailing to family members.  That was when I was running Leopard now with Mt. Lion nothing works.  Videos do not open at all?

I used to shoot video in my Powershot S3 IS (Format MVI_.AVI) and load them into iPhoto, I used quicktime pro so I could convert for emailing to family members.  That was when I was running Leopard now with Mt. Lion nothing works.  Videos do not open at all.  Any simple suggestions, I am not real keen on iMovie Productions and not real certain how they compress for emailing attachments.  Something simple here that I am missing?  Thanks so much.  I am a grandpa trying to share with family members far away (quickly & simply).

I am surprised that Apple did not build a converter into Mt. Lion.
Apple does have a converter built into Mountain Lion. It is call "Quicktime." However, in order to use this converter, you must first make sure the compression formats are playback compatible with QT. Basically, there are three levels of QT compatibility. The lowest is "Playback." These file can be played by QT but may not be conversion or edit compatible with QT. The second level is QT "Conversion" compatible. These files are playback compatible and can be converted to other compression formats using QT. "Edit" compatible media files are "Fully" compatible with QT since the can be played, converted and/or edited by QT. The main problem here is that AVI is a "legacy" file format that has not been officially supported by Microsoft for more than 11 years when it was replaced by Windows Media multimedia file/compression formats. Many of the original compression formats used in AVI files have never been transcoded for the Mac platform, use beyond system 9, or use beyond PPC platforms. In addition, some commonly used AVI codecs are proprietary or use non-standard (hybrid) profile and level combinations. In short, there is little wonder that Apple has been distancing itself from this outdated file type as it re-writes and upgrades its own QT structure to support more standardized, more scalable, more modern high definition file types and compression formats. It is really unfortunate that users continue to use this outmoded file type simply because it is freely available, easy to use, or they are simply too lazy to move on to a more modern or more efficient file types and/or compression formats.
I tested Wondershare Video Converter Ultimate for the Mac, which seems to be the "state of the art".  I may be purchasing a new camera which might create a whole new set of variables.  This program seems to cover all bases and is great for novices.
There are many third-party apps available if you wish to search for them. Many are even available in the App Store. Most do their job well and it is usually a matter of personal user preference as to which is best.
HandBrake seems more suited to folks with more experience and knowledge.
I mentioned Handbrake primarily because it is free and easy to use when you employ the included conversion presets options. (The TV options can normally be used for almost any situation depending on the source file and output requirements.) It is also excellent for more experienced users, but has a somewhat limited choice of output options as it does not access the user's system QT codec component configuration.

    Hi,
I have just got myself a new PC with Windows 7 (64bits). Using IE 8 (32 bit version), I am unable to download emails attachments from my normal Yahoo account ([email protected]). I have read somewhere that this could be due to the fact that Yahoo uses Norton as antivirus scan for email attachments, and that this could clash with BT NetProtectPlus (McAfee under the bonnet). Is there an option I need to switch off (and if so which one / how) in BT NetProtectPlus in order for me to be able to download attachments via Yahoo mail ?
Please note that this used to work on my previous PC (Windowx XP).
Thanks for your help. This is getting really frustrating !
    Hi. Welcome to the forums.
To be honest, there would not really be a clash between the products you've mentioned, because the online system using Norton is a server system and actioned before any download. There is possibly an option in BTNetprotect for "email scanning" or similar. This option can be turned off in the general case, since disk writes are covered anyway,
Have you tried another browser (e.g. Firefox, Opera or Safari) to see if the same conditions exist ?
Is there any particular error message or delay you are seeing ?

  • Email attachments as icons

Is this the only real solution for email attachments as icons: download and install the attachment tamer plug-in: http://lokiware.info/Attachment-Tamer

If you would rather not see the attachment preview by default when you add attachements to your Mail documents:
Launch Terminal, and then type or paste the following command after the prompt:
defaults write com.apple.mail DisableInlineAttachmentViewing -bool yes
Once you do that, quit Mail and relaunch it, or just start it up if it wasn’t running already. Now, when you look at messages with attachments, you’ll just see an icon. Double click on it as per usual to bring it up in the associated application, like Preview or Word.
To change it back to the way it was, simply run the following command:
defaults write com.apple.mail DisableInlineAttachmentViewing -bool no
When you relaunch Mail again, you’ll see attachments with their visual previews again.

  • Importing directly from bluetooth & directly from email attachments

Why isn't there an ultra simple way to import photos into iPhoto directly from bluetooth and from email attachments WITHOUT having to save the photos in a directory first and then import from the directory???
It seems dumb that I can't just zap photos directly from my mobile phone into iPhoto and even dumber that the "save" option for email attachments in Mail doesn't give a "send to iPhoto" option instead.

    ... and even dumber that
the "save" option for email attachments in Mail
doesn't give a "send to iPhoto" option instead.
It does under Tiger (OS X 10.4). When viewing a message with attached photos, click and hold on the small grey Save button next to the subject. At the bottom of the menu which pops out, choose Add to iPhoto. Done.

  • Email attachments download as ashx for Microsoft Outlook, instead of jpg, pdf, doc, etc. Tried to fix in Preferences Applications but still doesn't work.

Using MacBook Pro running 10.5.8. Downloaded Firefox 8 on 11/9/11 and now Microsoft Outlook Web App 2010 downloads all email attachments as "attachment.ashx" instead of jpg, pdf, etc. This was not a problem with previous Firefox releases which I've been using for the past couple of years. Can open files if I edit the extension to the proper variety (ashx to jpg for example), but no longer initially automatically opens. Instead I first get a "can't open this file" message.  Attempted to fix in Firefox > Preferences > Applications by indicating the proper "Actions" for various "Content Types" but this had no effect. Chrome and Safari browsers still work properly. How can I fix this?
