Apps frozen in mid-update

Hi Guys,
Does anyone know how to deal with an iPhone app that has frozen in mid-update without deleting it and re-installing it? I don't want to loose the saved data in it but it just won't play ball...

Thanks for that idea. I tried it but unfortunately it didn't work. The app is Infinity Blade 2; I gather there are a lot of problems with the updates but I can't find the answer to this one so far... I've just realised that I've not said that I'm on iOS5 as well (not sure if that makes a difference).

Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Go to Settings>iTunes and App Stores and sign ut and sign back in
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

while updating apps they have stopped updating and are now "waiting" how can i stop them and try again.

If rebooting doesn't help, (holding down on the sleep and home buttons until the Apple logo appears on the screen) here are a couple of other things to try.
Make sure that you do not have a stalled download in iTunes - a song or podcast .... if you have a download in there that did not finish, complete that one first. Only one thing can download at a time on the iPad so that could be what is causing the problem.
If that doesn't work - sign out of your account, restart the iPad and then sign in again.
Settings>iTunes & App Store>Apple ID. Tap your ID and sign out. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Go back to Settings>iTunes & App Store>Sign in and then try to update again. Tap one waiting icon only if necessary to start the download stream.
You can also try deleting the waiting icons - tap and hold down on an icon until it wiggles - the tap the X on the icon to delete it. Then try to download again.
You can try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your app preferences and device settings again.

Frozen applications whilst updating

My nieces ipad mini - she tried to update 4 apps by pressing the update all.
How can I delete applications that have frozen whilst updating. I've deleted them from the app update but are still showing as waiting on the home screen. I've also tried to delete them by pressing on the app ago it shakes but the x doesn't appear on the affected apps. .please help. Thanks. Elaine

How can I stopy my Apps from being automatically updated on my iPad2? I have an extremely slow wi-fi at work and my iPad Apps appear to be frozen as they are waiting to be updated. Help!

In iTunes use the File menu "Transfer purchases from..." item. Ordinarily you will get a warning to do this before an update. Presumably your computer is authorized to use your account and it is the computer to which you normally sync your iPod?

How do you resolve an iPad (2) App frozen on "waiting?" It's an app I used regularly and can still access through App store. It was recently updated. I have read some posts online and have already tried rebooting the iPad, logging off/in iTunes, and double clicking icon. My main concern is that it's draining the battery.

When selecting "update all," it says "Cannot Download. There is not enough available local storage to download these items. You can manage your local device storage usage in Settings."
How can this be the case when I haven't changed any apps from before updrading to iOS6, and I don't have any music yet on the phone? Why is it telling me there is not enough local space?

If you recently updated your iPhone to iOS7, you will need to update iTunes on your computer to iTunes 11.1 or newer for it to correctly recognize the iPhone. You may find the following link helpful:

WHy wont my app store install or update any apps?

when i try to install an app a grey box comes up that says waiting then dissappears after a while without installing the app. When i try to update my apps, it does the process of updating them but then still says they need to be updated no matter how many times i do it. By that i mean it asks for my password and then the boxes come up saying waiting then installing but then the app store still says they need to be updated. The only way i can update my apps is to delete them and re install them but paid apps that ive had to delete to update say i need to pay for them again. Whats going on?
i am using an ipod 2g and have the latest software that can be put on it

So that's different I just saw you wrote iPhone4. I miself have an iPhone 6… And it bever happend to me. Assuming you moved your backup try to rebackup and restore and check that agin or go to Settings > iTunes and App Storey >turn the Updated on

Had the same problem as you. App would terminate when launched.
Solution to working You Tube app:
-Go to playstore
- Uninstall app (it doesn't remove the app, only removes the update)
- "Et Voila", working again.
This doesn't correct the problem, it's just a workaround for you to be able to use youtube app again.

Unable to update apps after 10.5 update

I have been unable to update apps on my iPhone since downloading iTunes 10.5.
I have an established connection in iTunes to my account and can download apps but when I when I click on "# Updates Available" I am asked to sign in again and then receive a message that the iTunes Store is unavailable and to try again later.
All system software is up to date and I have update my iOS to 5. I am able to connect to the store via my iPhone and update there but do not understand why I can't view the updates on my Mac.

Please test after each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. Stop when the problem is resolved. Back up all data before making any changes. Keep in mind that no one here represents Apple or can help with customer-service issues.
Step 1
A purchased app can only be updated by signing in to the App Store with the same Apple ID that was originally used to buy it. There's no way around that limitation, which also applies to free apps. If you can't sign in with the buyer's ID, delete the app and reinstall it. You'll have to pay for it again, if applicable.
Step 2
If you get the alert when trying to update a bundled iLife app, select the Purchases page in the App Store and locate the app in your purchase history. If there's a button marked ACCEPT on the right, click it.
If you have a used Mac, the bundled apps were linked to the original owner's Apple ID and can't be transferred to you. Reportedly, customer service has issued redemption codes to some second owners who asked, but it's not guaranteed.
Step 3
If you're trying to update iLife or iWork apps that were installed from a purchased DVD, or if you have a refurbished Mac bought directly from Apple, contact App Store customer service for a redemption code. You may be asked for the part number of the DVD.
Step 4
From the App Store menu bar, select
Store ▹ View My Account
Enter your Apple ID password at the prompt. At the lower right corner of the window that opens, click the Reset button. Close the window.
Step 5
According to a report, the error can result from changing the language setting of your Apple ID account. I can't confirm.

You can only delete them one at a time on the iPad. If you have an IMAP email account, go to your email in on the server using a web browser and select as many as you can at a time and delete them that way. That action will be reflected on the iPad. In IMAP - whatever you do on one device syncs across all devices. If you have POP email - start deleting one at a time.

I am running a Macbook Pro (retina). Lately when I launch App Store and click on Updates the software updates for the software on the Macbook do not show up under the Updates tab. However, when I go to the Purchased tab I see there Update buttons next to programs that have updates ready to download.
How can I re-set the App Store so the Updates will again appear under the Updates tab?

All items that you download from the iTunes store are tied to the account that downloaded them, so only that account can download updates to its apps.
If you are referring to apps from the Mac App Store then you will be better off asking in the Using Mac App Store forum (this is the iTunes Store forum).
