Apps, Gift Cards and Canada - is purchasing now allowed?
I have heard that gift cards can now be used to buy apps in Canada from the App Store. I can't find the paragraph in the terms of service that disallows it.
Has anybody tried it?

I've never had a credit card on my iTunes account because I mostly purchase free apps and because I don't own a credit card. If I want to buy an app I use a family members Apple ID. I had two $10 iTunes gift cards and I put them as credits to my iTunes account. Now I'm trying to make an in-app purchase of something worth 19.99 and it says that my iTunes account has insufficient funds. The billing information appears and I choose "none" as I always have for it to charge it to my credit balance but again it says that I have insufficient funds. I checked in my iTunes account and it still says that I have a $20 credit balance.
You have a Puerto Rico address on your account ? From a quick search I've found one site from somebody in Puerto Rico that includes a screenshot for an app receipt showing tax of 7 cents added to a 99 cent purchase. Are you able to view the purchase history on the account that you've been using, and see what prices show on them (e.g. if the store's listed price or price plus tax) : Store > View Account menu option on a computer's iTunes, then 'see all' link next to the Purchase History section.

Very very likely that tax is applicable and tax is more than $0.01. You need to add a payment method for the tax. If you add a credit card, the girft card balance will be used up first.

when i unchek the card information it was show me an error!Though you are being asked for card details it doesn't necessarily mean that the card will be charged for the purchase (unless you want to gift content). Have you tried entering your card's details to confirm the account ? You should then be able to remove it.

When i purchased my laptop at the apple store i received a $100 app store gift card and the woman that helped me took a picture of my gift card and then through it out because apparently the credit was the on my itunes. Your iTunes and Mac App Store accounts are the same account. You can buy whatever you want, iTunes content or Mac App Store content, it's all interchangeable. There is no need to buy iTunes cards with App cards. -

Sounds like you might have an Apple Store Gift Card instead of an iTunes Gift Card.
You can use your Apple Store Gift Card at the Apple Online Store or Apple Retail Store. iTunes Gift Card or iTunes gift certificates are for for purchases on the iTunes Store, iBooks, App Store, and Mac App Store.
