Apps in both launchpad and dock?

why do apps on lion and mountain lion appear in both the dock and launchpad? wouldnt it make more sense if there in the dock they don't show in launchpad? think it would make more sense and work more like iOS, it just really annoys me having an app in the dock and laucnhpad

No. I don't use Launchpad and see no reason I should start. The Dock is a place to put items that you use often and want quick access to. The LaunchPad is something to make OS X look like an iPhone. In the iPhone, the apps actually exist in what could be considered the "LaunchPad." However, on OS X, the Apps exist inside the Applications folder on the Disk. So, I guess my question back at you is why should the Apps be both in the Applications folder and in the LaunchPad. Shouldn't they just be in the Applications folder?

  • Advice on improving graphics for app for both iPad and iPhone

I am creating an app for both iPad and iPhone 4 and it looks terrible on the iPhone 4.
I have created the Flash File in Flash CS5.5 IDE with Movie Size 1024 x 768 and I am using the following AIR for IOS settings:
    Rendering: CPU
    Device: iPhone and iPad
    Resolution: High
All my graphics are vector so I assumed that it would look crisp on both devices. It is not as perfect looking on the iPad as it appears on my PC monitor but I can live with it. I can't however live with the iPhone 4 appearance.
I am therefore seeking advice on how to improve the iPhone 4 appearance.
As far as I am aware, there is not a way to use 2 sets of graphics, one for each device. Please correct me if this is wrong and it would offer me a solution.
Would doing all the graphics as PNG be a solution?
Btw I am using AIR 3.2 SDK if that has any relevance and my graphics are static.
    Thanks in advance.

Thank you for the swift reply Colin. I do not recall setting a stage.quality setting - is the default setting low?
I did a quick google search and see this appears to be the code I need. I assume I put this in the first frame of my Flash movie?
    stage.quality = StageQuality.MEDIUM;
    Thanks

  • Flash CC 2014 fees associated with publishing an app on both android and IOS platforms

I have a client thats wants an app done, the app would best be created in Flash CC 2014 as it based to run like a book with buttons on each page for a viewer to click. The viewer clicks the button of thier choice on each page and at the end of the book if the score is over 1000 a bonus page will appear, if its under it will say try again.
Client needs this in both IOS and Android so I need to know the extra fees associated with this
my fee for creating ( I know)
    Android certificate fee?
    IOS developer fee 99.00 ( I know)
Did I miss anything is there a fee to go from Flash to AIR?
    plz advize'
    thanx'MD

Ok so , my fee and the Apple developers fee if the client wants to sell in App store or not, correct?
    correct.
But NO android fee ONLY id developer wants to seek in lets say Google play correct?
there's no android license fee needed to develop for android.  there's a fee to upload/list apps with amazon marketplace and google play.

  • Multi-folio app with both portrait and landscape orientation

Can we create a multi-folio app that contains both portrait and landscape orientation folios?

A multi-folio app can have any mix of portrait, landscape, or dual-orientation folios in it. The only requirement is that for a specific folio all articles in it share the same orientation setting.

  • Fios App on both Xbox and IPad

I recently subscribed to both fios tv and internet double play option and Ive been trying to get these 2 apps to work. Both say I do not have the services needed. I have 50/25 internet, and HD set top box (prime HD), so I should be able to use both of these apps.
It says simply you do not have these services please visit verizon to order.
Can someone here please help me?
    Much appreciated

If I buy an app will I be allowed to sync it both to my phone and pad
Yes, unless either device is listed as incompatible in the application's description.

  • With Creative Cloud are you able to download apps to both Windows and Mac?

I'm not sure whether on 1 subscription you can download to Windows and Mac, or whether you have to buy Creative Cloud for each of these individually??
    Thanks.

    The short answer is yes.
With one membership you can install and activate Cloud apps on up to two computers: either Win/Win, Mac/mac or Win/Mac.
    http://www.adobe.com/au/products/creativecloud/faq.html
"Yes, as a member of Creative Cloud, you get many benefits that you do not get when you purchase a traditional shrinkwrapped product:
An ever-expanding membership that provides access to Adobe's latest products, services, features, and workflows as soon as they are available. You no longer have to wait 12, 18, or 24 months for the latest innovations.
Access to both the Mac OS and Windows® versions of the desktop applications and the ability to install them on your primary computer and one backup computer. So, if you have a Mac at home and a PC at work, you can install your applications on both as long as they are not running at the same time. See the product license agreements page for more information."

  • Is there a way to open the settings app from an air app on both iOS and android?

Since you can't change the notifications settings within the app, is there a way to simply open the settings app from an air app? like a link or something like that?

Even on iOS this has only recently been added by Apple for iOS 8 only using the line:
    [[UIApplication sharedApplication] openURL:[NSURL URLWithString:UIApplicationOpenSettingsURLString]];
So you would have to wrap this in an ANE and then again, only for iOS and only call it in iOS 8+

  • Music App with Both Chord and Solo Keyboards?

For a while now, I've been looking for an iPad app that I'd think there'd be dozens of, but I've yet to find one.
It would be a simple music composing app that lets you play a melody line on a keyboard while simultaneously playing a chord (via button or second keyboard) from a (modifiable) selection of chords. So, one hand composing melody, one finger (on the other hand) playing supporting chords.
It seems like it'd be a fairly intuitive way to quickly save rough musical ideas, but maybe it's just me.
Most of the apps I've downloaded let you make, play and/or record a sequence of chords, but there's no way to play a melody at the same time. I'd like the ability to control the playing of the melody and chords...tinker around with the combinations, you know?
The closest I've found is "SongSynth," but that just plays a push-button chord off the same note you're playing on the (only one-octive) keyboard. What if I want to play a G note in the melody over a chord that isn't rooted in G?
Anyway, hope this makes sense, and hope this app exists and you can steer me to it!

    I agree!
It's hard enough to juggle earpieces, expensive hardware and belts (etc) for keys (etc) with software when exercising.
Particulary since most running log apps can't control Playlists directly.
Which to launch, then, start first…!
The simpler and better-integrated such handling is, the better.
It's tempting to think the changes are part of Apple's bigger plans to 'break up' iTunes, which has become unweildy, given all the functionality it's had to grow to encompass - when compared with a simple audio manager ten years or so ago.

  • Looking for a good GTD app for both Mac and Windows

I have looked around the internet quite a bit and haven't found anything that looks promising. Lots of great Mac-only task management/Get Things Done (GTD) software, but I need something that will also work with Windows. Any Suggestions?

Look at Google apps. calendar and mail and text and spreadsheet

  • Recently upgraded OS and apps but both iTunes and iMovie failed to upgrade.  Had a slow connection so had to stop and start a few times.

The two apps show as upgraded but their version tells a different story.  They also show up as needing to be upgraded.  Can I do a complete uninstall then reinstall?  As they are default programs, is this an option and how would I proceed.  Need advise!

  • Do I need to buy Keynote app for both iPad and Macbook Pro?

Thus far, I use email to forward my Powerpoint from work (where I use a PC) to home (where I use a Macbook Pro).   This results in my occasionally having various forms of my presentations out there and I sometimes get confused as to which is the most current.
Using Keynote to "store" my presentations on the cloud when I'm not editing them would be great.  I guess I'm just wondering if I have to buy the app for my Macbook Pro AND buy it for my iPad, or would buying it for one device put it on all of my apple devices (including iPhone)?
    Does anybody know?

Yes, you do. The Mac OS X and iOS versions are separate products.

  • Email and calendar app for both MAC and PC

I have purchased a HP MediaSmart Server for my small home-based office. There will be 4 computers which access the server-2 macs (all running OS 10.5) and 2 PCs (1 running Vista and 1 running XP). Does anyone know of an email and calendar app which can be accessed by all computers? The server runs on MS Windows Home Server.
    Thanks for any suggestions.

Depends – if you are planning on connecting to an Exchange Server then I would suggest that you install Crossover (www.codeweavers.com) on your Mac’s and then Office 2003/Outlook. I am connecting to an Exchange Server running Windows Small Business Server 2003 and have not had any problems using Outlook and sharing Calendar data between my XP and Mac systems.
If you are not planning on using Exchange and your mail usage is not that demanding (less than 20 messages daily) the you could use the basic Mail clients that come with OSX (Mail) and Windows (Outlook Express).

  • Do I need to buy Pages and Numbers apps on both iMac and iPad?

I have just bought iMac. I already have iPad3. I want to have Pages and Numbers on iMac. In order to occasionally work on the documents I create on iMac on my iPad, do I need to also purchase Pages and Numbers apps on my iPad (i.e. pay twice)?

iOS and OS X are different operating systems and they use different applications, so you have to purchase Pages and Numbers for Mac in the Mac App Store in order to use them on the iMac.
You already have them for the iPad, so you can install it on any other iPhone, iPad and iPod touch free of charge, but not on a Mac because you need another version. Also, in order to sync the documents between your iPad and your Mac, open System Preferences > iCloud, and mark "Documents & Data", and on the iPad, open Settings > iCloud, and activate "Documents & Data"
