Apps in memory

Why even after I close apps, they consume memory (they are present in memory). Even if this is after 1 day of closing app. I understand system apps should always be there, but others like app store, image editor... i would like they to be closed automaticly

those apps are called "headless apps". You can view them :
go to the Device Manager (use the assistant, or go to it through the settings), and select Memory. There you will see all the opened apps. Tap on one you wish to delete, it will open a new screen, where you can close the app.

  • App.Manager: Memory Full. Close some Applications ...

    Hello Frens,
i got an Irritating issue.  when i try to change
the SUITE SETTINGS for some Games in Settings - Installed apps. , i get the Issue "App.Manager: Memory Full. Close some Applications and Try Again."
I close all apps i have opened via JBAK Taskman and it shows free RAM as 51MB.
Still why i get the issue and i cant change via suite settings ?? any other way to change the Suite settings??

Which phone do you have. Assuming it not to be an S40 device.. you may try a Soft Reset by dialing *#7370# followed by the Security Code. Default code is 12345 unless changed by you. Be warned that the Reset will wipe all data from the phone memory so back-up before going for it. You will have to restore the data and MAY also have to re-install a few applications.

  • Rosetta apps and Memory

I was just wondering - does apps that run in Rosetta use way more memory than say native apps. I can't tell. When I run Entourage it doesn't seem to use really anymore memory than say ical and addressbook. However I've noticed that at the end of the day the memory drops dramatically. At 10pm I have Retrospect launch to do a backup and it too runs in Rosetta. I'm not sure if it is running in Rosetta that causes the memory loss or the actual act of backup that uses up the memory. Anyone know?

I assume you are using the Activity Monitor to calculate how much memory your PPC apps are using, but if you aren't it will show you all the stats. To me it always seemes as though any PPC app that I run on my Intel Mac uses up a lot of memory.

  • Can't remove expired apps from memory card

I have an N73 and had some applications with a developers certification installed to my memory card. I then did a firmware upgrade. Now every time I start the phone it wants to install these applications but fails and tells me to upgrade via the Application Manager. In the Application Manager these apps are listed as uninstalled, if I try to remove them it fails due to expired certificate (which is probably true). But I can't remove them either, and haven't found any files to delete browsing the card. Suggestions?

This worked for one app--actually I could install it and after resetting the clock it still runs fine. Didn't think the certificate mechanism was so unintelligent.
One app didn't work anyway, it might've gotten corrupted. Found I could mount my memory card to my desktop and search for the application code, which was listed in the Application Manager, and manually delete all references to it.

  • Maps App and memory cards

    Hi,
The MAPS app, is incapable of finding adresses eventhough I copied said adress from the MAPS app onto my adress book. What is the matter with this app???
Also I can't find a way to calculate an itinirary between two destinations other if one of the two is not necessaraly my PRESENT LOCATION. Is there a way to do it? And I never get multiple itiniraries wich is a problem when I know there is construction work on the most obvious itinirary.
Furthermore, an adress or a phone numbre sent by email or text message is not identified by my phone as such so I cannot click on it to go directly to the MAPS app or the automaticaly dial the phone number.

HOW DO I TRANSFER EXCESS DATA FROM MY BBZ10 MEMORY, TO THE MULTIMEDIA MEMORY CARD I ADDED TO MY BBZ10.
NicolasCleroux, I asked above and you've yet to answer... what is this "excess data" you speak of?
Please, scroll up, read and answer that, and then perhaps we can deal with that... What do you consider "excess" data?

IS IT A PROBLEM ON A PC??
For some, Link is a problem on Mac and Windows. I've had some isues with it on my Win7 PC, but it does work after some fixing of issues in my firewall and proxy settings.

WHEN I SAY "IDENTIFY" I MEAN THAT THE ADRESS OR PHONE NUMBER CANNOT BE CLICKED ON TO ACCESS DIRECTLY THE RELEVANT APP ( PHONE OR MAPS)
Make sure those phone numbers are formatted properly to be recognized as a phone number or address.
For instance, where I am, a phone number formatted as xxx-xxx-xxxx work and is "hot-linked" to dial the number.
Similarly, with an address: 123 Street, city, St, Zip" will create a hot-linked address openable in BlackBerry Maps.
I know in my own Address Book's contacts, i have several linked addresses which open in maps, and you will see them in a highlighted blue text if they are recognized as such.
So, please give an example of how your phone numbers and addresses are formatted?

  • Flex Mobile App eats memory on device

    Hi,
I have my flex mobile app that manages a lot of bitmapdata objects. Every bitmapdata is disposed after use. It's a multi-layer drawing app, and I have many SpriteVisualElements displayed on the screen. Every SpriteVisualElement contains 4 SpriteVisualElement that I use to paint different images. The problem is that on device (iPad2) the app eats a lot of RAM. It's not a memory leak problem (the memory is properly released when I return to the first view). I don't know what to do... please help me!
ps: on Flex profiler the app seems to consume 6 times less RAM

    oooooh nooooo
you have to pay Apple first
and then request a certificate and provisioning file
and then try and figure out how to convert the certificate to a .p12 file
and cross your fingers and hope they will allow it in their store
and you have to own a mac, although there are some convoluted ways to get a certificate using a pc you still cant get onto the store without a mac

  • Should I manually erase apps from memory card when...

I'm preparing to update the firmware on my E63.  I understand that this wipes the phone memory, without touching the memory card.  I also have read on the forum here that, as I expected, even apps on the memory card need to be reinstalled. No problem.  I need to update some anyway.  Others I'm happy to do without.
I don't plan on wiping the whole memory card if I can avoid it.
BUT this means that after a FW update, I'll be left with the residue of nonfunctional programs (some of which are older versions and some of which I don't want) on my memory card.  None of the 'updating your firmware' guides I've seen address this.
Does this mean that I need to manually delete the directories associated with the apps I intend to reinstall and the apps I don't want anymore from my memory card?  This seems a bit messy, unless, unlike most other OS's, S60 apps install themselves very neatly to a single directory tree. Otherwise, I could 'uninstall' everything - one - at - a - time - from the app manager before I update.
Is this firmware update thing really that messy?   If I don't erase the apps on my memory card, can I install same-or-newer versions 'on top' of them after I update, or should I erase the remnants first.
And how should I erase, by manually deleting the directory tree, or by uninstalling each app?
Thanks very much for any advice you can give.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

The fw updates would not touch your content on the phone, but please follow Chanchan's advice about backing up first anyway. If you don't, then i most likely will go wrong - it's the way of nature (murphys law).

  • Weblogic App Server Memory Settings

    Hi,
How memory management is happening weblogic app server and where I need to set the those things in weblogic server.
    Thanks,

You set memory argumnets for Weblogic in server start scripts - startWeblogic.sh & startManagedWeblogic.sh. You have MEM_ARGS arguments where you set your JVM minimum and maximun heap settings.
Weblogic JVM by default has parallel garbage collection algorithm.

  • Save Apps to Memory Card

    Hi,
Is it possible to automatically set the memory card as the default storage space for downloading applications?
Is it possible to move applications from the device memory to the media card once they have been downloaded?
    Thanks

No, you can't install or run applications from the Media Card.
App World applications can be archived to your Media Card, but not run or installed there.

    Hi everyone,
I am running a three-tier model jclient app with java webstart. java sdk 5.0 with jvm 5.0 - it creates a large footprint and then it says no more memory left to allocate to the app.
i looked at if the jvm was the cause but i am using java hotspot virtual machine. now what i am wondering is where the problem is? is it the model .... etc ?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

  • Mail.app leaks memory

Mail.app is allocating memory until it can't find anything left. Within 15 minutes after startup it already used 415MB. Keep it running a little longer and it will grow to 1.4GB and my Mac stalls, because I also have a VMWare running and I only have 3GB.
I already filed a bug, but I didn't hear from it yet. Anyone having the same experience?

So I seem to be consistently having the memory consumption increase with Mail too. I have restarted numerous time, all to no avail.
I have the frequency of the check for email set to "Every minute"; not sure if this has to do with it. My mail account is connecting to a Microsoft Exchange Server.
iCal also freaked out on my this morning--the memory usage reached 1.25GB of RAM--it has since gotten back in line after a restart. It is now holding steady at 46MB.
    Any other suggestions out that?
Any official word on this? I'm willing to provide diagnostic data/log if any Apple folks are interested.
    Thanks.
