- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

IWork 09 - all apps loading slowly when on network

Hi
I have just received a copy of iWork 09 at work, for installation to our school iMac workstations. However, I'm having the problem in that all of the apps, Numbers, Pages and Keynote load very slowly when my test iMac is connected to our school network.
I am almost certain that it's our squid-based proxy server that's causing us problems (we have never been able to register any Macs through it). I can only assume that the applications are attempting to contact Apple for whatever reason when they are loaded. This isn't for registration, as I told all the applications to 'Never Register' on first run.
I have tested with the iMac plugged into our normal broadband connection, and the apps load almost instantly. This adds fuel to my belief that it's the proxy, and the applications talking over the internet.
Is it possible to alter a setting or edit a plist file, which will prevent the applications from doing whatever they are trying to do online?

Hi Steve,
While I can't fully answer your question, maybe I can point you in the right direction.
The network connection iWork applications make at startup is a query for new help content.
This seems like a useful function to me, so I don't know if you'd want to investigate disabling it or not, but apps loading slowly is never fun!
If you can't get your Network Administrator to fix the problems with using Macs on your network, I'd look around for something to do with non-permanently disabling this function through a .plist edit. I know that's what you're doing already, but maybe knowing what function it is you're after will help you find what you're looking for!

Update worked but all apps load slowly

Updated to iOS5 on my VZ Iphone4. No issues during the update, and everything on the device works perfectly. However, whenever I start or switch to an App, there is a "delay" while it feels/seems as the App is loading. The screen changes to the App, but either the content of the app doesn't fully appear or the content does appear but the app won't respond to me until a few seconds pass. Same experience for Mail, Messages, Settings, Calendar, Contacts, Weather, etc.. With iOS 4 when I touched an icon the app would load near instantly; now when i touch an icon the app starts to load, appears to "freeze" while it is doing something, then becomes available to use.
Is there a remedy?

Power cycle your phone (turn it off, then back on). Seems like you filled up RAM and may need to flush it out.

Why is my iMac much slower after installing Mavericks. Windows open slowly and Apps load slowly.

Everything seems to be taking much longer. I have a late-2012 iMac with 32 GB of RAM that was blazing fast until I "upgraded" to Mavericks. Now everyithing is slow. Does it use more system resources? I would think that with that much RAM I would have plenty of headroom for the OS. Is anyone else experiencing this?

1. Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC).
2. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions - Lion/Mountain Lion/Mavericks
Re-download and reinstall Mavericks.
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion/Mavericks: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion/Mavericks and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

My wireless charging stand NFC enabled app loads slowly on my Lumia 920. It takes over 15 seconds to load the app that was initiated by NFC on my wireless charging stand. The app takes under a second to load if I load if from my start screen.
How do I fix this slow app loading through NFC on my wireless charging stand?

I just went into Settings: System: Accessories: Charging Stand: (and waited a little while for it to load before I could open "Charging Stand" and change the settings.
That is where I set the app I wanted to open. You can also leave feedback there for the charging stand. It worked right away but it is really slow to load the app you choose.

Applications load slowly on imac after Mavericks clean install

After a clean install of Mavericks, my late 2009 imac runs more slowly compared to how it ran under Snow Leopard. Applications like "Settings" take a few seconds to load, whereas under snow leopard, the application would load almost instantly. The Novabench score now is around 771, and matches about what I measured after the clean Mavericks install, but appears low compared to scores for similarly configured systems running Snow Leopard. The system is quite usable, especially if applications are left open, just slower. Is it possible to identify from Etrecheck a possible explanation? Is this level of degradation of performance expected when upgrading an old system? Thank you for your help.

App Loader tell me "No New found for this device" or something like that

I've been going around and around with this issue - I know that in addition to the DM, I need tohave the OS installed on my laptop. So, I've installed, uninstalled, etc.., etc, deleted teh Vendor xml. pulled the battery and put it back in - still get the message - So, I've bought software, unzipped it into a folder, and the app loader still doesn't "see" the .alx file.
Any ideas?????

Hello my fellow Apple product user's. My problem has been going on for about a month and half with my laptop locking up, file folders on my desktop loading slowly and my sleep button and other buttons on my dash board not responding. Where to being with my issues that are listed up in my title and my first scene. The first issue has been my file folders are not loading fast like that did before, the issue is that they load in about 10-15 if not a little longer after I log into my laptop desktop. The second issue is that my sleep button does not respond to sleep right away, I have to press it three or four different times after I have logged out of my desktop to make it go to sleep. The final problem is dealing with my buttons and laptop locking up, when I started an application called runescape after it load to the log in screen and after I came back to log into the game it decide to lock up/ froze on me and durning that time my buttons on my dashboard was not responding, so I decide to command q to quit the application and after that buttons were not reponding to it and I decide to do common and control c to see if it would work and it did and after that everything has been working fine except for the files are loading slowly. Also I had another issue with the laptop sleeping so quick as soon I am using the Internet. There was one other problem that had happen to me just like my description in my first scene, but I do not remember that issue.
Please no spamming, flaming and being plain rude to me and others. If you can not listen, read, or under stand my warning you will be kicked off from posting on threads buy a froum monitor. Pleas and thank you for posting and helping me out with fixing my problems.

It's likely that the new drive isn't working, or it wasn't installed correctly, or you had some other hardware fault rather than a bad drive.

Web pages load slowly using Safari, Firefox, and Chrome.

Web pages are loading slowly now on my mid-2008 iMac 2.66 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo.
Doesn't seem to matter if I use Safari v5.1.10, Firefox v29.0.1, or Chrome v34.0.1847.131.
Problem started about a week ago mostly with YouTube but now I have issues with almost all web pages loading slowly, including this one.

Try resetting both your Intenet MODEM/Router by unplugging them, waiting 15 to 20 seconds then plugging them back in.

You can definitely have different sets of iPads with different apps loaded. When you "supervise" your iPads, you will see that on the left side of the Configurator window there is a "+" sign in the lower left corner. Click it to create a new device group. With this new device group you can choose what apps and configuration profiles you want to install on that group of iPads. Create as many groups as you want to customize the apps and profiles you want on them.

I call a Windows live SDK logon function, GreetUser(); when the apps loads on start-up as below. If I navigate to another page then back again the logon calls again.
How can I make it call the function only once?

I'm sure a real programmer would use something more sophisticated. I am a fake programmer. So, I use very simplistic solutions for this kind of thing.
In the App.xaml.cs page, create a static bool variable. This will be your app global variable. Initialize it to true.

Now, in the page that you posted the code from, modify it to this.

And voila. GreetUser() will only fire the first time around. After that, it won't fire again.

From what I can see, unless you're doing things with old versions of Xcode on a Mac (in which case, the solution seems to be to upgrade to the latest version), this seems to e an iTunes issue.
Accepting that it works fine with another iPad, I suggest trying the following:
1. Restart the non-working iPad
2. If that doesn't work, reinstall iTunes. If you're on a Windows PC, I suggest using Control Panel to uninstall all the Apple apps, restarting the PC, and doing a fresh install. If you're using a Mac, a repair permissions might help too.
iTunes 10.3 is now available, and that may make a difference.

does anybody know on which order Tomcat loads its web-apps ?
I need a particular web-app loaded before all other web-apps.
Is there a way to sepecify the loading sequence in Tomcat?

Try explicitly declaring the web app contexts in the conf/server.xml file in the order that you want them to start.

Issue adding Auto-renewable in-app purchase type via App Loader

I have a Pro DPS account and a Multi-folio with iTunes subscription Newsstand app.
I'm attempting to add paid 6-month and 12-month subscription options to what has previously been a Free subscription app.
I also want to charge for back-issues, and add each back issue as a non-consumable in-app purchase.
I'm building a new version of the app to support the in-app subscriptions...
After the app is built in App Builder, I added the following auto-renewable in-app purchase types via iTunes connect for the subscription options...
com.appname.6mo
com.appname.1year
I also added the following in the App Loader for each of the back-issues....
com.appname.issuename
I understand that I now have to submit my app and the in-app purchases via the App Loader. But after adding all in-app purchases and choosing to "Deliver" through App Loader I get the following error.
Can anyone advise?

Yeah, created different subscription in-app purchases within the same family.
For non-consumables I used the same product ID for the published folio and in-app purchase. These were marked as FREE and Public at the time of submitting the in-app purchase, because I understood the in-app purchases would need to be approved before republishing those folios as PAID and public.
