Apps no longer full screen

A number of my apps, games and a few aviation related apps, are suddenly appearing on small frames in the middle of the screen.  The is a button to magnify them but when pressed the app does not go full screen and the resolution is poor.  any idea what happened?  I can find nothing in my search about this.

You will have to purchase the app again if you want the iPad version of the apps. Since there are separate versions for each device, you cannot download the iPad version of the app for free - even though you bought the iPhone app.
I just want you to be aware of that.

  • Starting an app directly in full-screen mode

Hello! I am a long-time Mac user, but am still new to the Support Communities.
I bought Lion yesterday, and for the major part it has been running great. I am still struggling to adapt to the new Mission Control (I was a dedicated Spaces user and enjoyed navigating between them with Ctrl+Arrow.) and new gestures.
    My question is:
I used to have some of the Spaces open just to contain a maximized app. Now that Spaces is gone, I would like to open these apps directly as full-screen from the start (because I like them maximized anyway), instead of having to open them in a particular desktop first. Is this possible at all?
    Thank you very much!

Hello and thank you for using the HP webOS Help Forums!
The center button is not required for going into card view. In any position (landscape or portrait) you may swipe your finger from the bottom to top but just make sure you start int he black area around the screen. This is a subtle yet quick movement and may require some getting used to.
    I hope this helps

  • Making apps open in full screen by default WITHOUT resume enabled.

    Hi guys,
I love using apps in full screen on Lion and would like to have all apps capable of it open in full screen by default.  Unfortunately I've found the only way to do this is to have resume enabled which I really don't like as I find it annoying having to exit out of whatever document I was using last whenever word/acrobat etc. open.  Also don't want what I have been browsing on Safari previously to be seen.  I have read from other users in the discussions and in other forums that Lion should remember if you have exited an app while in full screen and will re-open in full screen.  Unfortunately this is not the case for me as I am having to click my apps in to full screen each time I open them.  Does anyone know if there is some sort of preference file I can clear to get this functionality?
    Thanks

"How does one choose what player to use when , once saved to desktop, they all seem to open the file regardless of the type extension (.ave , .wmv and so on)?"
You can select a "default" player to open a specific file by following the instructions in #2 of my previous post.
Just make sure whichever player you download is for the Intel Mac.
"For instance , say you`re in a forum and there`e is a "hey , look at this...' type of thing. The "look at this" being an attachment of some sort."
This involves your "browser" plug-ins. Assuming you are using QuickTime, this is done through QuickTime MIME Settings.
    Quicktime>Quicktime Player Preferences>Advanced
Click on the MIME Settings button.
Some browsers have their own default player plug-ins that can override QuickTime when you make a player selection on certain website. For instance: Realplayer opens .rm files. QuickTime cannot open .rm files.
In the next window that opens up make sure that Streaming-Streaming movies is enabled (checked).
While you’re at it make sure all the boxes are enabled by clicking on the corresponding triangles so that they are pointed down.
This will show the “hidden” boxes.
    Click the OK button.
I would restart just to be on the safe side.
    =========================
Sorry, I am not familiar with Intel Macs. Suggest that if you have any concerns besides QuickTime, you may wish to cross-post in the Intel-based iMac Forums where knowledgeable users using the same model computer as yourself hang out.
Maybe it would be easier if you would advise the type of player(s) you are interested in? I am assuming QuickTime since you posted in its forum. Are you having an issue making QT your default player?

  • Facebook app not staying full screen after IOS 7.1 upgrade

Just started this morning... did the 7.1 upgrade last night. Not sure if I accessed FB last night after the upgrade.
What I'm seeing this morning is pretty weird... best way to describe it is: the FB app is not fully crashing... if I start it, it throws the FB screen for a milli-second, then it disappears. BUT... it still shows up as a running app, with recent posts shown in the preview window of the running apps section (FB window above FB icon). If I try to maximize it, it goes full screen for a milli-second then disappears but is still shown as a running app.
I checked the FB account info in the iPad's Settings and it was missing my FB acct info. I added the info back in but the problem continues.
I haven't checked every app on my iPad but the Chrome, Gmail, and ebay apps are all working fine. Just tried Maps, iTunes Store, and Garageband and they all start up as expected.

I've had no problems with the Facebook App. Have you tried restarting or resetting your iPad?
Restart: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Off and, after It shuts down, press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10 seconds).
    No data will be lost.

  • Twitter app isn't full screen on 4s

Recently, my 4s crashed after updating it to the new IOS 7.0.3. It erased all of my data but thankfully I had most of it backed up to my computer. Once I finally got everything updated (because I hadn't backed my phone up since September) I got on twitter and facebook. They are both not functioning correctly. The screen is like a little box and there is no way for me to expand it or anything. Same for facebook. I have tried deleting it multiple times and reinstaling it and just about everything else i can think of and it wont work! Please please help me if you know how to fix it!!!

I have no clue what is their deal! All my other apps are fine its just these two!!

  • I just noticed you can't right click icons in the dock when in Mission Control. I think this would be useful for turning off other apps easilt from full screen mode.

Would anyone else find this useful?

For me no. I think it's just as much or more effort as cmd-tab (or swipe) to the open app and then cmd-q to close it.

  • Using Win 10 there is a need for an app to determine the full device display area and aspect ratio programitically; the dimensions are needed to create full-screen bitmap.

While Windows.Current.Bounds returns the application windows size, in order to create a full-screen bitmap my app would need to retrieve the full display area  of the device. I cannot even get the aspect ratio.
Pre-Win10, using Windows.Current.Bounds I can create a bitmap of whatever size application window the user is seeing. When the user is showing my app at full screen, I can therefore get the full display area and aspect ratio of the device and create a full-screen
    bitmap.
With Win10, the user would need to know to hide the taskbar and also display at full-screen before an app can retrieve the display area and aspect ratio using Windows.Current.Bounds.
Before Win10 it's obvious to the user that full-screen is or is not being used. When I create the bitmap, I create it to fit the application window. When the app is displayed full screen, the bitmap will be full screen. Also, the app starts full-screen so
I can detect the display area at startup if I need to.
With Win10, to the user the app "looks like" it is full screen with the taskbar displayed even though it's not really full screen.
I believe that in Win10 determining the full display area will be useful and not just retrieving the application window size.

Rob, Is this forum best way to get my suggestion to the development team?
Before Win10 it's obvious to the user that full-screen is or is not being used. When I create the bitmap, I create it to fit the application window. When the app is displayed full screen, the bitmap will be full screen. Also, the app starts full-screen
so I can detect the display area at startup if I need to.
With Win10, to the user the app "looks like" it is full screen with the taskbar displayed even though it's not really full screen.
Yes, Windows.Current.Bounds does work the same, but I believe that in Win10 determining the full display area will be useful and not just the application window.

  • When running full screen apps - dock is slow, difficult to appear

This is on a new MBP with an additional external monitor.  The primary display is still the laptop display.  When apps are in full screen, simply bringing the cursor to the bottom of the screen does NOT bring up the dock.  I have to continually pull down on the mouse to get it to appear.  Or I have to pull the mouse down to the bottom, stop, then pull it down again.  This seems to be in place to allow access to features at the very bottom of the window of a full screen app...whithout accidentally bumping the dock.  Maybe there's a setting for this but in it's current state, I hate it - I'm not going to use full screen apps if this is how they act.

Revealing the Dock while in a full-screen app requires not only moving the cursor to the bottom of the screen, but keeping your finger on it or moving the cursor along the bottom edge (or other "tricks") to reveal the Dock.
    SUPER ANNOYING TO ME
Many users may like that way of operation, perhaps a great majority. But hundreds of thousands may find it annoying to have this cognitive pause imposed and would rather have the dock appear accidently once in a while when moving the cursor close to the bottom area of the display.
    This worked before Mavericks:
Setting the Dock autohide delay to zero (in Terminal, with write defaults...) removed this annoyance. As soon as your cursor's at the bottom of the screen, the Dock's there.
In Mavericks: Nothing to do! (so far)
APPLE: "You" make WRONG design decisions, "you" make professional users spend dozens of hours investigating how to tweak basic features behind the scenes. And THEN, "you" quietly invalidate those changes. Please, the best design decision that "you" could make is to give the user more choice. Please, give us a section in Preferences where these things may be changed. The religious dumbing down of the interface in favour of supposedly clean esthetics is plain WRONG.
It is also quite unacceptable that APPLE does read these pages but never responds.

  • App Store - Full screen preview.

  • MacPro 7300GT and 20 in lcd flashing after full screen app quits.

    hi all
    Just got this problem today.
When an app changes from full screen back to the finder my Apple 20 in lcd starts to flash black-blue, power light goes full on too.
A reset solves the problem until another app quits from full screen.
For a split second I could see the finder - in a blue hue.
No force quit or quit could get back to the finder.
    Any help? 10.4.8 8L2127

    Any news on this one?
I've got the same problem: Sometimes if an application tries to change the resolution (e.g. redline but happens with other games too) it will start to show a blue screen for two seconds then switch off the display for two seconds.. in what appears to be an infinite loop. Mac Pro, 7300 Gt, 10.4.8 8L2127 and a 23" cinema display

  • Show desktop not working in full screen app

The thumb & three finger swipe to show the desktop does not work for me if the screen is filled with a full screen app. If hte app is not full screen then the gesture works.
Is this  a bug, does anyone else get this, what use is the gesture if it doesn't work with full screen apps??!
    TIA,
    J

    John,
No, the gesture doesn't work in full screen since technically there isn't a desktop under the full screen app.  I just swipe to an adjacent desktop.

  • Screen sharing with full screen apps in Lion, control problem.

Looking for a cleaner way to accomplish this, perhaps there isn't one but thought I'd ask.
If you screen share with another computer on Lion, and that other computer has an app running full screen on it, what is the best way to get to "the rest" of that computer?
You can't do a 3 finger swipe because that just moves the desktops of your current computer , same with the shortcut keys like f3 and f4.
Yes I know that you could go up to the corner of the full sceen app and take it out of full scrren mode but this seems like a slightly clumsy un-apple solution.

I know this is an older thread, but I need an answer to this as well.  Like the OP said, I have to take my apps out of full screen mode on my target computer, which seems very strange to me.  This makes it very difficult to manuever around using screen share.  Any hints or tips would be greatly appreciated.

  • Any app with full screen width SMS message bubbles?

Does anyone know of an app that has full screen width SMS message bubbles?  I am obsessive compulsive -- the one-half width of the screen message bubbles during a conversation is driving me absolutely CRAZY!  The standard sms message bubbles fill up only one-half of the screen real estate and make the message twice as tall as it needs to be.

    I've not heard of one.
