Apps not opening

Needing assistance on iPhone4s. Downloaded a ringtone app with instruction to creating own app. I used laptop to create ringtone per instruction using songs already down loaded on iTunes. I synchronized my iPhone with ITunes  and set the created tone as my ringtone. I then deleted the downloaded app. I tried using my Facebook, twitter and Liveprofile app and they do not open. I would like to know what could be the cause?

Try downloading any free app to resync your iTunes account.
Try a reset by pressing the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slider. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.

  • When I click on Creative Cloud logo, indicator for time passing goes for a few seconds and stops, but app not opening (it used to).  Any ideas?

I've never used this feature to ask a question.  Pardon not knowing etiquette and such.  When I click on Creative Cloud logo/icon on my desktop, the indicator for time passing goes for a few seconds and stops, but CC app not opening.
CC app used to work on this same computer a few months ago.  No changes to operating system.  Photoshop is still working.  Just wanted to download Lightroom and perhaps begin learning it, but to no avail.
Tried to look for a way to reinstall Adobe CC, but it says I already have it.
    Any ideas?
    Thank you in advance,
    Timothy

How come when I try to open an app on my phone does the screen just blink and the app not open?

Some apps crash. If they do, try this, in order.
    1. Double click your home button and put your finger on any app and hold for a second. Then delete that app. You're not deleting the app from your phone, so don't worry. Then try opening the app again.
    2. If that doesn't work, hold your sleep+home buttons for 10 seconds and don't let go. Ignore the power off message. Then try again.
    3. If that doesn't work, delete the app and re-download it. (This will work most of the time)
    4. If that doesn't work, download the app on iTunes on your computer and sync it from there.
    5. If that doesn't work, wait for an update by the developers.

    About the Mac
I recently updated to Yosemite and now I am having problems with the above mentioned apps, not opening at all.
I am unable to check to which version its update to, or even update to next version.

You ran a defective third-party "utility" such as "CleanMyMac" or "MacCleanse" that purports to "clean up" "junk" files. What it really does is to corrupt the operating system and many applications.
The first thing you need to do is remove that software according to the developer's instructions. Never install it, or anything like it, again. Then see below. If you use any iWork applications, you may need to delete them and redownload them from the App Store.
If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data, then reinstall the OS.* You don't need to erase the startup volume, and you won't need the backup unless something goes wrong. If the system was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you may need the Apple ID and password you used.
If you use FileVault 2, then before running the Installer you must launch Disk Utility and select the icon of the FileVault startup volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name.) It will be nested below another icon, usually with the same name. Click the Unlock button in the toolbar and enter your login password when prompted. Then quit Disk Utility to be returned to the main Recovery screen.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
If you installed the Java runtime distributed by Apple and still need it, you'll have to reinstall it. The same goes for Xcode. All other data will be preserved.
*The linked support article refers to OS X 10.10 ("Yosemite"), but the procedure is the same for OS X 10.7 ("Lion") and later.

  • Mail App Not Opening After Upgrading to Yosemite

I upgraded to Yosemite this morning from Mountain Lion. Everything seemed to go well until I clicked Mail for the first time. The migration process started, but the app never opened and will not open. I immediately get a crash dialog and that's it. I click reopen and get the dialog box saying, "The last time you opened Mail, it unexpectedly quite while reopening windows." I can do this over and over again. I've read the other threads, but they are not helping me.

Reinstalling OS X Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall OS X: Select Reinstall OS X and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • Scan app not opening and other issues

    Hi,
Let me start by saying thank you for your assistance. I have a regular-old 5514 photosmart airprint printer, and it is going crazy. It is just about to be two years old. My computer is a MacBook Pro on 10.9.1 (also two years old). The printer and computer are connected by my Comcast blast wifi. All of my paper and ink are HP. So here's the problem, first it won't print my pictures, not on glossy or regular-it just makes the noise like it is printing but the pages are blank (this never used to be a issue); second, the scan app won't even open on my computer, it just gives me a long page of coded errors or just automatically closes; finally, it often is printing streaky if it does print. There are no updates that I can find on for the app on my computer, and I have zone 2 ink, (I will buy more if this thing starts working), and I have run all the tests and they are completely fine as if nothing is wrong. Please help! If you need additional details I can provide that info.
    Thanks,
    amycdero

Hi amycdero and welcome to the HP Forum,
I understand that you are having scanning and printing issues after upgrading to Mavericks OS X v10.9.1. I will try my best to help you resolve this issue.
In this document for Mac OS X: Scanning Software Does Not Open or Stops Responding are steps the may help you with your scanning issue.
This document for Fixing Ink Streaks, Faded Prints, and Other Common Print Quality Problems should help with the streaking printing issue.
I hope this information is helpful. Please let me know.
    Thank you,

  • Third Party Apps Not Opening on iPhone 5 using iOS 6.0.2

I have an iPhone 5 and am using iOS 6.0.2 and recently certain third party apps like Facebook, Instagram, Shazzam for instance, no longer open.  When I tap on the app, the app comes up on the screen for about a second, and then closes.  What's strange is that I've been using iOS 6.0.2 and have also been using the most updated versions of the apps without any issues.  The crashing started happening around last Friday.  Here's what I've tried to do to fix the problem so far but none of these options have worked:
    - I restarted my phone by holding down the home button and the lock button.
    - I turned my phone off and turned it on again.
    - I deleted the apps and reinstalled them and then restarted my phone.
    - I downloaded a random free app, opened it, and then tried opening the apps that kept crashing.
    - I restored my phone and synced it using the most recent back up I had, which was from earlier that day.
I did find a temporary solution, that allows the apps to open but I think it's because the apps are not the most recent versions.
    - I restored my phone and set it up as a new phone.  The phone then downloaded all of the apps again and re-synced everything.  The apps did open after that however, when I went to the app store, it said that I had 24 available updates.  I updated all of the apps to their most up to date versions and then noticed that they once again stopped opening and would crash almost immediately after launching them.
    - I then restored my phone again and set it up as a new phone and did not update the 24 apps and all but one of them work.  The only app that I've noticed that still doesn't work is the Blackboard Eats app.  It still crashes almost immediately after launching it.
I took my phone to the Genius Bar this weekend (which is where I was told to restore the phone and set it up as a new phone).  I'm thinking that the issue is purely a software issue, but is there any chance that it could be a hardware issue?
I suppose I could just not update the apps, but I'm hoping there's a better solution than that.  What's weird is that the phone was working with iOS 6.0.2 and all of the most up to date versions of the apps less than a week ago and it seems that somehow, overnight, they stopped working.
Is anyone else running into this problem?  Has anyone found a solution?
    Thanks in advance,
    Kevin

The music player does not remember where the last session ended.  I have about 1000 songs on my iPhone.  I play the songs in the Shuffle mode - and it worked fine on iOS 5.x.  Ever since I updated to iOS 6.0, the shuffle seems to be seriously broken.  It repeats the song sequence of previous session in the exact order instead of starting from where the session ended.  God forbid if your last session was 10-25 songs long - you'll have to hit the Next song so many times to listen to something that you have not heard for a while.

  • IPhone 3GS Camera App and Photo App Not Opening

Hi, my iPhone 3GS Camera Application and the Photo Application (Base Apple Photo-related apps "Photos", "Camera") will not open. • Apps not opening on iphone 4 with new IOS 6.1 upgrade

Ever since I update my IOS on my iphone 4 to 6.1, My applications are not opening properly. Most of the time the will appear as if they are opening but nothing loads up in them. I have tried various resets and nothing has fixed it. I hope this bug gets fixed soon. It's super annoying.
The phone often times will become unresponsive.
In addition to the app issue and the unresponsivness , My battery life has diminished severely. I used to go 2 days without charging my phone but now i dont think i will make it half a day. I'm sure im not the only one having these issues.

Thanks - for some reason I thought several functions of Siri was available, but I guess I was incorrect.

  • 10.8.3 apps not opening files?

After upgrading to 10.8.3 certain apps cannot "open files" from their menu. i.e. BlackMagic Disk Speed Test cannot open window to select hard drive to test, iPhoto cannot "Import Library".  However, if I log into my other user account which is located on my SSD, the apps work fine.
My main boot is a Samsung 840 PRO SSD, with TRIM enabled. My second HD which has my main user account is the standard 1 TB Hard drive that came with my Mini. Is it possible the update corrupted or changed permissions on the User account on the second hard drive? I've tried the route of fixing the Containers folder, but it did not help. Everything else seems to be working just fine, but this is getting a little annoying.

I found the fix. The problem was with com.apple.ubd. Here is where I found the fix at the bottom.http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/281143-comappleubd-problem/

but whilst the apps are in my library they will not open on macbook.
Doesanyone know please what I have done wrong?
    Thanks

You're welcome. Not clear on the question. As Clinton and I stated, you can't run iOS applications on OSX, or visa versa. There are certain applications which are developed for both - and can be synced (Dropbox, for example).
Any application you purchase from the Appstore using your Apple ID can be downloaded again on a new machine. You can alternatively use a time machine backup and setup assistant to migrate your applications and user data - this comment only applies to OSX applications.

  • Many Apps not opening

I've found on the threads that many people have had this problem, but I've tried all the answers and still, many of my apps, when touched appear to start opening then disappear back to the menu screen.   I've tried Restoring the phone, downloading a free app, trashing and reuploading apps that don't work.  Nothing seems to help.  At first it was just a few apps that would not open, they were the newer apps that I've downloaded in the past few months, but now its infecting some of my older apps, and Instagram won't open (god forbid) anymore.   I'm wondering if it could be some sort of syncing issure but I've tryed unsycing the phone to itunes, etc. No dice.  Anyone have a solution?
    Thanks,
    C

If you have already restored from a backup, then you need to restore as a new device. It appears that something in the backup has become corrupt. Make sure you have all of your other data synced to the phone, photos imported to the computer so you don't lose them. You will lose saved game data and SMS. but it doesn't appear that you have a choice right now.

  • Finder.app not open anymore

I installed Mac 10.10 and now the "finder.app" will not open.
    Any ideas or solutions?

I am well aware of that Kappy. What I am telling you is that this popup occurred while downloading and installing the Mac OS X 10.10.1 update. After the restart, Finder did, in fact, fail to launch, although it had been working just fine when I downloaded and installed the update. One relaunch and one restart failed to get Finder to start, and none of my desktop items (i.e. the icon for my Macintosh HD) appeared. When I opened Activity Monitor it showed both Finder and Spotlight not responding. I restarted again and Finder failed to launch again. I opened Activity Monitor and began to run a Sample on the Finder process and only then did Finder finally launch and my desktop items showed up. Total elapsed time was approximately 10-15 minutes to get Finder to launch after multiple restarts. I looked in the Console app and apparently what was happening was that the following message was being repeated 256 times:
    11/19/14 10:29:02.000 PM kernel[0]: BUG in process suhelperd[197]: over-released legacy external boost assertions (1 total, 1 external, 0 legacy-external) .
I have no idea what this means or why the OS X Yosemite 10.10.1 update caused Finder not to launch.

  • IOS5 (beta 5) Apps not opening

I have recently upgraded to beta 5 and none of the applications apart from the basic apple ones are opening, i've tried several restores and still apps are not opening? I have to use safari for social networks over the last two days, and my phones quite useless without the hundreds of apps I have.
    Anyone else having this isue?

iOS 5 hasn't been released, so you need to post questions to the relevant developer forum using your account credentials.
