Apps on my iPad 2 won't update.

I have a wifi network connection.  The appstore shows a number of apps (all free) have uploads available.  I've tried to update all at once or individually.  All of the apps are now showing as waiting.  They are unusable as they wait to upload.  I've tried to delete and re-install but they still say 'waiting' after re-installing.  I'm running iOS 5.0.1. Any ideas?

Got it to work by connecting to PC and following this advice from another post, except I updated apps in PC before adding back to iPad.
connect your ipad to your computer
let it sync
go to the apps tab
remove any apps that are hung by unchecking them
sync
HERE I WENT TO APPS in PC and updated all.
select those same apps
sync
should work again as usual

Many people are having this problem for the last couple of days. This is a problem that Apple has to fix. If you look around the forum, you will see many, many discusssions about this and they have been going on for a few days.
According to Fly150 in another discussion, this is a workaround - for the time being.
If you want to update the Apps while waiting for Apple to fix Updates:
    1. Go to App Store
    2. Select Purchased
    3. Select All
    4. Scroll down to find the Apps showing update
    5. Select update on the Apps
This should update the Apps and get rid of the update count in App Store.

Tap the screen outside the app. Still there, double click the home button and swipe the app store preview up to close it. If it's still there, reset time.

When I go to the App Store, I continually have Apps to update yet when I hit the update button all I get is a blank white screen. None of the Apps needing to be updated are shown.

    This is an ongoing issue.

  • IPad 1 won't update to ios 5

My Mum has been given an iPad 1 by a relative who has bought an iPad Mini as a replacement.
She uses a PC so I have installed iTunes onto it and am trying to update the iPad to ios 5 (as a number of apps I'm trying to install for her just won't load without ios 5). However, every time I try to update it I get an error message saying "the disk is full. Removing files and emptying the Recycle Bin will free up additional space". I've emptied the recycle bin but it still won't work and I'm pretty sure the disk is not full as she doesn't use it for much other than surfing the net.
    Can anyone help?

If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 6.1.3. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.

If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect the iPad to the computer, open iTunes. Then select the iPad under the Devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update.
Tip - If connected to your computer, you may need to disable your firewall and anitvirus software temporarily.  Then download and install the iOS update. Be sure and backup your iPad before the iOS update. After you update an iPad (except iPad 1) to iOS 6.x, the next update can be installed via wifi (i.e., not connected to your computer).
Tip 2 - If you're updating via wifi, place your iPad close to your router to preclude getting a corrupted download.

If you have not already done so, you need to reset the iPad to the factory settings. http://ipad.about.com/od/iPad_Guide/ss/How-To-Wipe-Your-iPad-And-Erase-Data.htm This will erase all apps and files. Any apps that were downloaded by the previous owner using their Apple ID can't be updated using your ID.

  • My wife's iPad 2 won't update to IOS 5 on her iMac, my iPad 2 updated fine on my Dell PC- what gives?

My wife has a new (less than 6 months old) big beautiful iMac (of which I am extremely jealous-but that has no bearing on the conversation at hand) but every time she tries to update her iPad 2 to iOS 5 on iTunes she gets the error code 3259 at the very end of the 40+ minute download.  I own a Dell (over 1 1/2 years old) running windows 7 and I updated my iPad 2 to iOS 5 when it was first released with no problems.  I checked the message boards and they said that they were most likely experiencing an overload of people trying to download off the servers and that was causing the download issues.  So I waited and tried again....and again....and again....and, well you get the idea.
I can not fathom how my PC updated fine but my wife's iMac (running the latest update of Lion and yes she updated iTunes and did the firewall settings correctly) can't/won't update it to save her life.  Does anyone have any ideas????
    Thanks,

    Hello jaideniv,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities!
First I would recommend this article named Can't connect to the iTunes Store found here http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1368. It will get you started with troubleshooting iTunes Store connection issues on the computer and the phone.
If needed there is a more advanced article named iTunes: Advanced iTunes Store troubleshooting found here http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3297 that I would next recommend.
    Take care,

  • App just shows waiting and won't update

My iPhoto app just Shows a "Waiting" status and won't update.

  • Apps on iPad Air won't update - just open

When I select UPDATE for an app in the App Store, the App opens instead of updating.   When I return to the App Store, the update remains.
This started after updating to iOS 8.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix?

I'm still on an older version of 7, but it started immediately after Apple release 8.  It's a problem with their store.
As resetting is not an option for rme, i found one thing that sorta helps...  I make sure the store isn't running, then I launch it, then tap Updates, and then frantically tap where Update All will be.  It works maybe one out of 5 times I try, and then that works until the iPad thinks it is running out of storage space and the cycle begins again...

  • IPad Air won't update to OSX 8.0.2

    I have a 16GB iPad Air.
There is not enough room left to update wirelessly to OSX 8.0.2. so I've been trying to do it via iTunes on my MBP.  All seems to go OK for first 10 minutes or so of download, but then I keep getting a message saying that there is an 'error' (unspecified) and that I should try again.  I've tried 4 times now, but nothing seems to work.
    Any thoughts/suggestion please?  Thanks.

    Hey Rachacha,
Thanks for the question. I understand that you are experiencing issues updating applications on your device. Let’s see if we can isolate this issue further. First, try closing the App Store application:
iOS: Force an app to close
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5137
Next, go ahead and restart your device and test once more:
Turn your iOS device off and on (restart) and reset

  • IPad 1 won't Update to 5.1--3194

I am trying to convince my neighbor of just how special the iPad is. He is not exactly a techie (-:  He couldn't send outgoing e-mail, but that was a simple problem of lack of outgoing mail server password. As I tried to update his 18 apps needing update, I discovered he was still running OS 4.4.3. When I tried to download the update, I got the following error message:  The iPad "Leslie Carter" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred. (3194). This happened right after it finished loading the "Extracting Software" screen. Ideas????

3194 usually occurs as a result of restoring on a computer that had modified host files.
To check windows host files, you may want to view my link:
