Script to find if list of Apps patches exists in DB 'A' but not in DB 'B'
Hi All,
DB:11.1.0.7
Oracle Apps:12.1.1
OS:Linux 86x64 bits Red Hat
Could anyone please share the script to find if list of patches exists in DB 'A' but not in DB 'B'
Thanks for your time
Regards,We have already answered you, not sure why you keep asking the same question!
SELECT bug_number,creation_date from ad_bugs where bug_number in
('1234','5678','56783','4321','765432');
I get the list of patches out of the above say - '1234','5678'
Now how to get the list of patches out of the above list of 5 patches which are not in the DB 'A' .I know this could be done manually but this is just an example as there may be hundreds of patches like this in ad_bugs to extract and we cannot manually do it in excel or any other way bit through a queryRun the same query in Database B and compare it with the output of Database A. Or, simply create a database link for Database B from Database A and run this query from DB A:
SQL> SELECT bug_number, creation_date
from ad_bugs
where bug_number in ('1234','5678','56783','4321','765432')
minus
SELECT bug_number, creation_date
from ad_bugs@<DBlink to DB B>
where bug_number in ('1234','5678','56783','4321','765432');Thanks,

Apps Patch application Help needed !
Hi guys
I have been asked a question that if i am applying a major patch family pack or roll up which after a considerable amount of time hangs/fails at a point . As a solution Oracle team suggest to apply another patch how should i proceed ?
pls help
thanksFirst try resetting your iPHone, i.e., hold down the sleep and home buttons, ignore the off slider, wait for the Apple logo to appear and then let go.
If that does not work try acquiring a free app and see if the problem clears.
Finally, you may need to deauthorize your computer in iTunes, then Authorize it again and resync. -
How to check whethere apps patch need downtime or not?
hi,
i am going to apply in Oracle 11i.how to that patch need down time or not?
Plz help
Thanks in advanceHi,
Check the patch README file and it should tell you. For the application patches, you need to enable maintenance mode in general before applying any patch. You may use "options=hotpatch" to apply the patch online without enabling maintenance mode but it depends on what patch you are applying, the size of the patch, and modules it is affecting. For patchsets, family packs, minipacks, and AD/FND patches, it is better you enable maintenance mode before applying the patch. For small patches which only need to replace a package with a new one you can apply the patch online.
The best practice is to try your patching on a TEST instance first and see how it works. Please remember you would need to shutdown the application services on Windows if relinking executable files is required, otherwise the patch will fail and you will have to run it again after stopping the services.

Hi,
I am having a terrible time downloading patches. The ftp site updates.oracle.com no longer works.
What I've resorted to doing is starting a browser in VNC on my sun server. Even to use the wget
method they've made it more complicated 980924.1 - I have to do a whole procedure in the browser
just to get the link to put into wget. Does anybody have some tips on how to do this? I have to
download 350 patches for the 11i baseline plus recommended patches. Thanks.Hi,

Oracle Apps R12 Shared ApplTier Patching
Hi
I am having a small doubt related to R12 shared appltier.Could you please clarify me on this?
As per the Metalink notes and blogs in R12 shared appltier INST_TOPs will be there seperately in multiple nodes. In INST_TOP all configuration files, logfiles, xml, dbc, certificates files will be there.
If we want to apply apps patches means patching on one node is enough or we have to apply patch on every node?
Correct me if i am wrong. If patch brings any changes to APPL_TOP,COMMON_TOP,Techstack Homes related means its a shared appl_tier so one time patching is enough. If it brings parallely configuration files changes to INST_TOP files related also means we have to apply on every node?
Then what is the advantage in R12 Share Appl Tier...
waiting for your reply.

Then what is the advantage in R12 Share Appl Tier...You do not have to apply the patch on each node, just on one node then run AutoConfig. By doing this, you save your time and reduce the downtime as the patches need to be applied only once.

Install instructions for Search Modeler and integrating with Apps 11i
Below are all the steps I took for creating integrating Search Modeler with an Oracle E-Business Suite 11.5.10.2 ATG RUP 7 instance called ERNIE.
Much thanks to Oracle Support ( Rajesh Ghosh, Vikas Soolapani and Roger Ford), as this simply wouldn't have been possible without them.
There are a few things in this document that may not be pertinent to your environment if you're doing this. I've made attempts to clarify those possibly optional sections in the documentation.
I've broken the document down into the following multiple parts
o Setting up a new RedHat 4.8 x86 server called ausSEARCHdev (The server is in AUStin, TX, is dedicated to SEARCH, and is for our DEV environment)
o SES (Secure Enterprise Search 10.1.8.2 install
o SES 10.1.8.4 patchset install
o SES CPU patch apply
o Standalone OC4J and ADF installation
o Search Modeler installation and configuration
o Configure ERNIE Apps instance to be on valid self-signed SSL certificate
o Import ERNIE SSL certificate into SES and Search Modeler
using aussearchdev initially

ADF - http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/jdev/htdocs/adfinstaller10133.html
OC4J install
First you need to have Java 1.5 on the machine. Latest is 1.5.0_22. Package is in /mnt/oraclebackup/deathstar_patches/SES

install OC4J just by copying over the directory
as oracle on aussearchdev
mkdir -p /d01/oracle/oc4j
cd /d01/oracle/oc4j
cp -r /mnt/oraclebackup/deathstar_patches/SES/oc4j/* .
ADF install

change the following
OracleHome = /mnt/oraclebackup/deathstar_patches/SES/adf
DesHome = /d01/oracle/oc4j/
type = OC4J
as root
cd /usr/bin
rm java
(yes)
ln -s /usr/local/jdk1.5.0_22/bin/java
su - oracle
java -version should now return 1.5.0_22
export JAVA_HOME=/usr/local/jdk1.5.0_22
cd /mnt/oraclebackup/deathstar_patches/SES/adf
java -jar runinstaller.jar -version
returns The version for the ADF libraries being installed is 10.1.3.41.57 - yes, that is apparently 10.1.3.3.
java -jar runinstaller.jar adfinstaller.properties
output looks good, do not be concerned by

So, creating a self signed SSL certificate for ERNIE EBS instance (this will not work if you use an SSL certificate for another server like say, PROD)
doing this on ausernieapp
openssl genrsa -des3 -out ausernieapp.key 1024
PEM key is ausernieapp
openssl req -new -key ausernieapp.key -out ausernieapp.csr
PEM key is ausernieapp
Country US
State Texas
Locality Austin
Organization Name Corporation
Organizational Unit Name Information Technology
Common Name ausernieapp.domainname.com
Email address [email protected]
No challenge password
No optional company name
Now let's remove the passphrase from the key
cp ausernieapp.key ausernieapp.key.orig
openssl rsa -in ausernieapp.key.orig -out ausernieapp.key
Now let's generate a self-signed certificate
openssl x509 -req -days 1000 -in ausernieapp.csr -signkey ausernieapp.key -out ausernieapp.crt
Install the private key and certificate
cd $IAS_ORACLE_HOME/Apache/Apache/conf/ssl.crt
cp server.crt server.crt.backup.03102010
chown applmgr:applmgr server.crt.backup.03102010

chown applmgr:applmgr server.key.backup.03102010
bounce apache as applmgr
cd /d01/oracle/erniecomn/admin/scripts/ERNIE_ausernieapp
./adapcctl.sh stop
./adapcctl.sh start
In IE

./searchctl startallBelow are all the steps I took for creating integrating Search Modeler with an Oracle E-Business Suite 11.5.10.2 ATG RUP 7 instance called ERNIE.
I've broken the document down into the following multiple parts
o Setting up a new RedHat 4.8 x86 server called ausSEARCHdev (The server is in AUStin, TX, is dedicated to SEARCH, and is for our DEV environment)
o SES (Secure Enterprise Search 10.1.8.2 install
o SES 10.1.8.4 patchset install
o SES CPU patch apply
o Standalone OC4J and ADF installation
o Search Modeler installation and configuration
o Configure ERNIE Apps instance to be on valid self-signed SSL certificate
o Import ERNIE SSL certificate into SES and Search Modeler
using aussearchdev initially
rh4 x86, default oracle build

java -version should now return 1.5.0_22
export JAVA_HOME=/usr/local/jdk1.5.0_22
cd /mnt/oraclebackup/deathstar_patches/SES/adf
java -jar runinstaller.jar -version
returns The version for the ADF libraries being installed is 10.1.3.41.57 - yes, that is apparently 10.1.3.3.
java -jar runinstaller.jar adfinstaller.properties

Welcome advice re how to fix this problem - thanks to all who have helped me in the past.
cheers, RobHello Diesel,
As per Note 1266729.1 : "Applying Patch 8557019 and encounter /usr/bin/ld: cannot find -ldeb error running make -f ins_procbuilder.mk install" this can be fixed by appying patch 8551790 first.

10.2.0.2 Patch set noninteractively , OUI-10133
Dear all,
I tried to install the 10.2.0.2 Patch Set Noninteractively,
I ran runInstaller:
./runInstaller -silent -responseFile /app/patch/p45478
17_10202_LINUX/Disk1/response/patchset.rsp
and then I received:
SEVERE: OUI-10133:Invalid staging area. There are no top level components for Linux available for installation in this staging area.
INFO: User Selected: Yes/OK
INFO: Performing operation for OUI Shiphome access setup
SEVERE:OUI-10133:Invalid staging area. There are no top level components for Linux available for installation in this staging area.
What does it mean?
Regards,
MariaYes, you can. Choose a plateform where the 10.2.0.4 patchset version is the based released (MacOSX, Vista or Windows 2008), install it, create a new db, then export your source 10.2.0.1 db, and import into this new one.
Nicolas.
PS: of course, if you want only the patchset to upgrade your db in place, then the answer is shorter : no.
