Apps per "playlist"? Using multiple devices to one itunes account.

Hi,
Perhaps it's a silly question...but I run into a sync issue.
we have itunes running on one PC, and have two ipod touches and one ipad, all under the same apple account.
When I synced my new ipad, itunes tried to sync all my 100+ ipod apps on my pc to my ipad....That was not the idea, so I cancelled and put the apps I wanted (10 or so) on my ipad "by hand"
Is there a way to create lists (playlists?) with apps PER device? So that you can only sync that specific list to that specific ipod or ipad?
Thx, FF

However, when I connected my "fresh" iPad, it immediately started to sync (set to automatic sync), and started to put all my 100 or so iPod Touch apps to my iPad....They were all checked.
It's been a while since I connected a fresh iPad, but I believe that doing a full sync is the default. Stopping the sync and changing what apps you wanted was the correct procedure.
So, next time I connect the iPad, it "knows" which apps need to synced, and does not try to sync "all" apps?
Correct. I do that all the time with my two iPads, each of which have a different set of apps, music, videos, etc.
Regards.

  • How to use multiple devices on one itunes account

I have one itunes account, three iphones and one itouch.  How do we use the same itunes account be not share data, pictures, contacts etc?

Connect the iOS device, select it from the left column under "devices" and just don't check those items in iTunes:
Un-check the appropriate boxes for Contacts, etc. You can set these individual preferences for each iPhone and iPod Touch.

Settings > iCloud > Sign in with the desired Apple ID.
Settings > iTunes & App Store > Sign in with the desired Apple ID.
The two above can be different Apple IDs, mine are.

  • Help needed with iMessage on multiple devices on one iTunes account

Hi, please can someone help.  I have an iPhone 4S and my wife has an iPhone 4, we are using iMessage with one Apple ID with no problems (I presume as the messages are sent to the phone number), however I have purchased both my daughters an iPod Touch each for Christmas and want to set up iMessage for them so we can all message eachother.  We will all be sharing one iTunes account so can share music / movie / app purchases.  How do I set this up?  Thanks in advance.  Richard

  • Divorcing multiple devices from one itunes account

We have one Apple ID / iTunes account with multiple devices attached. I would like to divorce all devices and have each member of the family with their own Apple ID/itunes, but don't want to lose the content (music etc) that has been accumulated over time. How do we do this?

Your iTunes collection is individual to computer, not in the cloud somewhere and synchronizing to your computer from there.  In other words, if you delete a file on one computer it will still be on the others until you delete it from there.  Likewise, if it is on one computer that is not a guarantee it will be on other computers. The closest to this is some of the automated downloading Apple does if you buy things from them.   You will just need to make sure your desktop is really up to date before wiping your media from the other computers.

Want to use my Desk Mac as the repository of ALL iTunes items.
Have a MacBook Pro & MacBook Air (to use on the go).
    Everything is fully backed-up.
When I try to clean up my MacBooks and I delete an iTunes movie from them, will it be removed forever from my iTunes account and disappear from the Desk Mac?

  • Multiple devices on one iTunes account

My husband and I have each others contacts on our iPhones. Is this because he is connected to my iTunes account and on the same 'cloud'? Do I need to set him up on a separate iTunes account?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
He needs to use an Apple ID of his own for iCloud. iCloud and iTunes are different services, even though you use separate ID's for iCloud, you can still share an ID for iTunes, if you want to carry on sharing your music, books and apps etc. If you want these kept separate too as well as your contacts etc, then you should use separate ID's for iTunes too.

  • Can i use two devices with one itunes account?

I share a laptop with my husband.  We have had "sync" issues in the past with his contacts and my contacts intermingling on our separate iPhones.  Can I create two different iTunes accounts for us to sync independently?  What should I do about this?  With the advent of iCloud, we're both going to be autosyncing...right???

This won't be a problem, iTunes will see the new device as a separate device, it will have its own settings under iTunes, you can set it up to sync the same content or different content to the first device, it will have no effect on how the first device syncs with iTunes.

  • How to sync multiple devices to one iTunes account

    Just have a question here,
I have an iPod nano, my sister bought her iPod touch a few years back and we've had them on the same iTunes. She has her apps on there and they don't sync to my iPod obviously because i have the nano. This has been working fine. However, my father wants to sync to my iTunes because he wants some of my music and some of my sister's apps, but not all of them. Is there a way that I can create a "playlist" for him to have only his music and apps sync to his iPod? I haven't created an iCloud myself because it would be of no use to me. But, can I set one up for my father using my iTunes and have only some of the certain music and apps on there?
Sorry if this is a bit confusing but I would really appreciate some help!
    Thank you.

  • How to FaceTime and iMessage on multiple apple devices with one iTunes account

We recently received iPad 2's for Christmas and was looking for some advice on how to FaceTime and iMessage on multiple apple devices with One iTunes Account (Apple Id).  I have created or attached other e-mail addresses to our apple id but do not know how to use them on the new devices.  Our home MacBook Pro uses our main apple id for FaceTime.  The iPads have been setup with the main apple id w/o being able to use FaceTime and iMessage.
    Please Help...
I appreciate the help and support.

    P and V-
If you are trying to connect to someone with a different Apple ID, I think all the devices should work, but one at a time.
The problem is when you try to connect between two with the same Apple ID.  Once the calling device tries to make the connection, it finds the second device to be "busy".  That is where each needs to use a different E-Mail address when setting it up.
On iOS devices, when you press the Home button to exit an App, the App may still be active in the background, even when the device is sleeping.  If FaceTime or iMessage is merely being active that way, it may be enough to "tie up" the E-Mail address.
From the Home screen, double click your Home button.  You will see a list of recent Apps along the bottom of the screen.  Press and hold on one of them until they start to wiggle.  You will then see a red minus sign on each.  Pressing the minus sign will remove an App from the list, and stop it from working in the background.  (Click the Home button to stop the wiggling, and again to hide the recent Apps.)

  • Can I have multiple devices on one iCloud account

can I have multiple devices on one iCloud account? Like a iPad and Mac Book Pro
If so how can I do this?

Sure. That is what iCloud is meant for, so you can keep your devices synced.
When you set up iCloud on the devices, use the same Apple ID on all devices, then the iCloud account will be the same.

we have 5 devices on one itunes account how do I give them each their own icloud account and still share the itunes account?

You need a unique AppleID for each iCloud account.  So grab some free gmail, hotmail, aol, yahoo or whatever email addresses to make five new AppleIDs.  Now, everybody make an iCloud account for themselves, and keep the existing shared AppleID and password just for use in the iTunes and App Stores.  You can also each use your own unique AppleIDs to make iMessage accounts and keep those separate as well.

  • Can I use multiple IDs for one iTunes and multiple devices

We have one family computer with iTunes, my older brother has an iPhone and I have an iPhone. A family ID was previously used to purchase songs for the family to share. My older brother has created an apple ID for his iPhone, and l have a yet unused apple ID. my brother downloaded songs etc onto the family iTunes that I would like to share, there are songs on the family apple ID that we would both like. Can you download purchases from multiple apple IDs into one iTunes  account, then sync that data onto multiple phones that each have a separate ID? Is iTunes linked to one ID? Can purchases from multiple IDs be grouped together in our family account. Also do I Actually need a separate Apple for my iPhone to prevent private messages and contacts being shared?
    Thanks for any advice

I forgot to add my iPhone is brand new and unused, and also that the iTunes account has non purchased songs on there. Can these be shared. As it is a new computer the purchases from the family ID have not been downloaded yet
