Apps purchased on iOS 4.2.1 no longer available unless i purchase a new ipod touch.

I restore my ipod touch (2nd Gen) and some purchased apps are No More Longer Available on it, So my question is how can i get all my purchased app and use it again on my ipod?. Some apps are Adobe, iBook, and a lot games, and essential apps like Twitter, Facebook, Dropbox can't use them 'cause i need iOS 5 or later so i have iOS 4.2.1. What i can do to fix this? i dont wanna buy a new itouch to recover all my apps!!

- Your only way is if you have the version that was compatible on your computer such as in the recycle bin/trash or in a computer file backup. In that case delete the current version that is in your iTunes App library and replace it with the older version. Then sync.
- Live without the apps
- Get a newer model iPod

Just wait a bit. Turn it off, then back on.
I don't know why, but after the update it doesn't show up right away.

The problem is when i drag n drop downloaded apps from torrentz into itunes n syncronize it add those apps into my itouch ... but the message shown in my i touch is .. that application failed to install..
in the itunes those appliacations are unchecked automatically ... but i can install apps which are downloaded from the istore .... they are working properly

I just got a new iPod touch and transferred all my stuff onto it. But for some reason I can't get any in app purchases to work on any of my games. I've checked settings and there are no restrictions on so what could the problem be? I've downloaded a new app and updated apps OK -it's just the in app purchases eg gems,fishbucks,whatever that just keep saying 'not working try later' or similar. PLEASE HELP!

To restore app data, the apps have to be in the iTunes library of the computer on which you do the restore. The iPod ackup that iTunes makes does not included synced media like apps and music.

My new iPod Touch 4 wont open downloaded apps which has worked before.

I just bought new ipod touch 4 it worked fine for few days but recently the apps that i downloaded won't open. (Facebook, Instagram) other factory preinstalled apps, music etc works fine.
I have tried to reset it, close all running application but still it doesen't work. It has been working yesterday.

These are two possible approaches that will normally work to move an existing library to a new computer.
Method 1
Backup the library with this User Tip.
Deauthorize the old computer if you no longer want to access protected content on it.
Restore the backup to your new computer using the same tool used to back it up.
Keep your backup up-to-date in future.
Method 2
Connect the two computers to the same network. Share your <User's Music> folder from the old computer and copy the entire iTunes library folder into the <User's Music> folder on the new one. Again, deauthorize the old computer if no longer required.
Both methods should give the new computer a working clone of the library that was on the old one. As far as iTunes is concerned this is still the "home" library for your devices so you shouldn't have any issues with iTunes wanting to erase and reload.
I'd recommend method 1 since it establishes an ongoing backup for your library.
Note if you have iOS devices and haven't moved your contacts and calendar items across then you should create one dummy entry of each in your new profile and iTunes should merge the existing data from the device.
If your media folder has been split out from the main iTunes folder you may need to do some preparatory work to make it easier to move. See make a split library portable.
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library or a backup then then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device for advice on how to set up your devices with a new library with the maximum preservation of data.

My ipod touch has software 2.2.1 but all the apps now require newer software. It won't update because it says it's the up to date software. do i need to buy a new ipod touch?

The 1G can go as far as 3.1.3. You can purchase that update here. You may have to use another browser to get the sublink to work correctly.

Just purchased new IPod Touch (purchased 6-3-14 - had a Classic until it fried). After setting it up, I tried to sync to ITunes and it says it syncs but does nothing. No music transferred to IPod. I have a MacBook Pro running OS X 10.6.8 if that means anything. This is very frustrating as I am not a computer whiz and really want to use my IPod in my really long commutes to work. It sounds like your iPod touch is recognized and syncing, but it isn't transferring the content that you expect to be transferred. Take a look at the article linked below, it will show you how to select the iPhone in iTunes and where the tabs are (second picture) that control what is synced to the iPod.

my son had to get a new ipod touch because he shattered his screen. the person who helped us said that his ipod was backed up to my icloud so he will be able to transfer his stuff to his new ipod. when he got home and we went through the process it said to either register as a new ipod or go to icloud. we went to icloud and it said to hook up to your computer. WHen I did that all of my apps/music went to his ipod. We never backed up his original ipod on the computer. When I go to manage storage I see the back up that I need but don't know how to tranfer it to his new ipod. How do I do this?
