Apps say connect to iTunes for PUSH NOTIFICATIONS?

Hi,
Im going CRAZY! I have the 3GS and I recently updated it to the OS4.2.1
Since then most my apps get me the message
"Connect to iTunes to use Push Notifications"
I have tried connecting and syncing more than once and it still says it!
Also when i now go to the YouTube app it NOW says
"Cannot Connect to YouTube"
And finally after syncing my apps the new ones I downloaded on my computer are NOT showing up on the phone??? And I have 7 apps that cant update via phone because of the size BUT the update isnt showing on iTunes...
I need help cause its driving me NUTS!!!
Thanks!

There are a few other threads in this forum regarding this issue. It appears to me that this was once an issue with the iPhone, but has now started up again after the upgrade to iOS 4. My iPod Touch is ~ 2 years old and has had absolutely no problems. It is not jailbroken or altered in any way.
This pop-up started for me after upgrading to iOS 4. I did the restore to factory, reinstalled my apps and the problem returned. It appears my push notifications are working, which is good, but I have to click through the pop-up every time I enter an app that uses notifications.
This will go away when Apple fixes it.

Same here.  I don't know how to solve the problem, but I figured out a way to close the app without re-starting or resetting the phone.  If you click ok and then press the home button twice really fast before the dialog box shows back up, you can put the phone in multi-tasking mode and close the app without having the shut the phone off or reset it.  Anxiously awaiting the fix for this since I have several apps I use that I can access at the moment.

I have to reboot my phone to be able to use it again. Any suggestions?

  • HT4623 "Connect to itunes for push notifications" appear on the Whatapps screen repeatedly after my iPhone 4 was upgraded with IOS 7.0.4.

After my iPhone 4 was upgraded to IOS 7.0.4, some of the apps cannot be used instantly as before. For example, the Whatapps does not alert unless I open the apps manually. Then a message "Connect to itunes for push notifications" appear. Even I tried connect to itunes for sync again, this problem still cannot be resolved. The same problem applies to some other apps like  Runkeeper. Don't know why.

Have you tried a reset? Hold down the home button along with the sleep/wake button until you see the apple, then let go.

  • IPhone 4 4.3.3 connect to itunes for push notifications

Help, many apps keep giving this pop up... Connecting to iTunes didn't fix it. Searching here I can only find old posts saying it's a bug and apple will fix it someday. Google points only to this issue on jailbroken phones. Mine is not jailbroken.

    I found the fix.
Problem was, 1: no push notifications 2: you tube didn't work 3:find my iPhone didn't work. (just figured that out today)
A restore didn't fix it so I thought it had to be lower in the system and a restore doesn't wipe the phone completely first. The jailbrake blogs actually help me out, (remember mine isn't but it still helped) I found out about DFU mode. This will reload the firmware on the phone.  Then I needed to restore to get all my apps and data back on the phone. All seems to be working now, I just need to spend 1/2 a day putting all my apps back into folders.
DFU mode: connect to your computer, turn off the phone, while off press and hold power and home, after about 10 seconds let go of the power button but keep pressing the home button. iTunes will show a message about detecting a phone in recovery mode. Let go of the button and follow the iTunes bouncing ball.

  • HT201210 Since my update to IOS7 all my apps say that I have to go to itunes for push notifications. What? I cant find that option anywhere, and I am ready to push this phone through an open window.

Please HELP ME !! Ever since I updated my phone to the IOS7 it has not allowed me to have push notifications on any apps. It states that I must go to itunes to get push notifications.  However, I go to itunes on my phone it is just the store, I go on my computer it just shows what apps I have.  This is beyond frustrating.

    Hey Chapup,
First, I would try this and see if it applies to your situation:
To use certain services, iTunes must download and install an authentication token on the device. Because iPad and iPod touch do not require an active Internet connection to activate, these tokens may not be downloaded and installed during initial setup.
You can resolve this issue by verifying that iTunes has an active Internet connection. Use the following steps:
Open iTunes on your Mac or PC.
Verify that your Mac or PC has an active Internet connection by accessing the iTunes Store in iTunes.
Connect your iPad or iPod touch to your Mac or PC.
After the sync completes, verify you can access YouTube.
Note: iTunes 9.1 or later is required when using iPad.
via: iPad and iPod touch: Unable to use YouTube or Push notifications
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3305
And if that doesn't resolve the issue then I would backup the device to iTunes and restore it. Just be cautious and back up first, since restoring deletes all content and settings:

  • All apps saying connect to itunes to use push notification?

all was fine then this is what came a new problem....apps not properly responding.....help

Triplestones.. you don't even know how relieved I am right now !! Phew.. this was a big one to crack.
I have got a iPhone 4 running on iOS 7.0.4 and followed all your same commands -
Double-click Home button and close ALL applications by sweeping finger up on each.
Go to Settings > iCloudSwitch off Find my iPhone
Go to Settings > iTunes & App StoreTouch Apple ID: xxxxxxxxxxx and select Sign Out
Hold down Power button and turn iPhone offAlternatively, hold the Power button and Home button for several seconds to do a hard reset
Press Power button to turn iPhone back on
Go to Settings > iTunes & App StoreEnter Apple ID credentials and sign back in
Go to Settings > iCloudSwitch on Find my iPhone
Open apps which previously had the problem to test
This fixed my iMessage issue too - a big big relieft. I wasn't getting messages from my friends, also my work messages weren't making it through. Thanks a ton !!!
Also when I was turning off 'Find my iPhone' app, it prompted me for my Apple ID password - and for some reason it told me that my password was incorrect !! I don't know if someone hacked into my account during one of those multiple prompts I got when I tried the other methods -
    - ONLY Turning off iCloud
    - Resetting Network Settings - from Settings -> General
    - Turning off phone and connecting to iTunes to switch it back on.
But that was more of a precautionary note to anyone trying these methods to crack this issue. So I have a new password to use now.
P.S. - I am not a big forum message guy, but this one definitely deserved a big thank you note.

  • My Ipod touch says connect to iTunes for usage and its not connecting. What do I do?

I have an iPod 4th generation Touch. I dropped it in water and it reset itself. The screen says to connect with iTunes to be able to use it, but the iPod will not let me connect with iTunes. What do I do?

If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.  You WILL lose all of your data (game scores, etc,) but, for the most part, you can redownload apps and music without being charged again.  Also, if you have IOS-7, read this.
