APPS SHUTTING DOWN, BLACKS OUT, RECENTLY FELL AND HAS THE SCREEN UNEVEN

i got my g4 a year ago. recently i dropped it as i tripped on the stairs and now the screen is a tiny bit uneven with the keyboard area. also, i was told m startup disc was nearly full so i deleted many items or apps i didn't think i needed. anyways, it has recently been shuting down apps such as iphoto, aim is a big one, and many more. just last night i had finished working on a paper and went downstairs to eat. when i came back my screen was black and would not move. not one button would work-the audio acknowledging a button was pressed didnt even beep. i tried to press the power button multiple times but it did not work.
i decided to leave it over night in hopes that it would reset itself or something. it did not. i had to restart it which is terrible for me since i did not have the chance to save my paper.
why is all of this happening? is there anyway possible to get my paper back?
a little more info:
i never shut it off-always just put it to sleep
i use appleworks for my papers
apple has done NOTHING to help me with my probs whenever i send them "what i was doing when the problem occured"
what is the best way to deal with this?

When you plug it in to iTunes does it show up under devices? Try restoring it. That's the best thing you can do if you're out of warrenty

I have to believe this has something to do with iOS 7 issues. I have taken my screen blacked out 5s twice to the Genius Bar and the found a bunch of system apps had crashed. So if this is the case, is iOS7 the problem?

It sounds like it is too late to back up. Did you not think of that the first 16 times? It is probably no good anyway due to corrosion from the water all those times. Buy a new phone.

did you turned on keychain and documents turned on if that is on you can get back your chat history....

My iPhone 4 has died. I was just surfing the net on my phone (a reputable hotel site), put my phone down to make a cuppa and now the screen is dead.

Nothing I do will bring the screen back. Phone had around 30% charge and I'm charging it now but still nothing.
I've tried all the available buttons. It won't even show it turning on or off. There's a small hole in the side.... should I try putting a paperclip in there to reset it or is that not what it's for?

the small hole in the side is the sim card. Don't touch it
Hold the home button, the round one on the bottom and the on/off one , on the top, together. Hold them till you see the apple logo. Let it reset.

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

First, try a system reset. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore. Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset. Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."

Trying to start iCloud on iPad and app shuts down

I just finished installing ios5 on iPad and I launched the ICloud section in Settings. After entering Apple ID and password, the app shuts down. Any ideas on the solution to this problem.

Restart the iPad and then try again.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
If that doesn't work, quit Settings and all other apps, restart and try again.
Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Quit/close open apps by double tapping the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner to close the apps. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.

Bug Report iOS 7 iTunes. Since it is repeatable on 3 iPhones and 4 iPads here, I'm sure others are experiencing the same thing. Apple, might want to take a peek at this. When a tv show or movie is deleted from Videos, the Videos app shuts down.

Restarting videos works and looks like video is getting deleted.
