Apps to USB Storage issue on A2107A-f

Running in to an issue trying to move apps to USB storage. When I move the app to USB storage, the icon disappears from the display screen. The app is still on the device and can be found if I look under the App folder, but no longer shows up on the customizable screens. On the other hand, any apps that remain under Tablet storage still show up on the customizable screens. This wouldn't be such a problem for me if it wasn't for the fact that of the 8GB storage on this device, 2.29GB is allocated for internal or Tablet storage. So, it doesn't take long to fill up that space with apps.
Would appreciate any help. I did try calling Lenovo tech support and that was fruitless.

I have the exact problem. There is no solution according to my tech.

E4200 USB Storage Issue - Connection drops / router hangs

I'm having issues with maintaining a reliable connection to the USB drive connected to my new E4200. Here are the situation:
(1) I can successfully share the drive and map it from any computer on the network as expected
(2) After mapping the drive, I try to copy files/folder to the mapped drive. It starts off ok, but within a few seconds/minutes, I'll begin getting the message "the specified network name is no longer available". The drive status will show "disconntected" or "reconnecting"
(3) When this happens, the router will often stop accepting new connections (i.e. the DHCP function stops working). However, some of the computer that are connected continue to work / have internet access.
(4) Restarting the router (i.e. pulling the power and plugging it back in) gets things working again. Things are good until I try to map the drive and begin copying files again.
Here's some other parameter info:
(a) I'm running the latest (only) firmware available: 1.0.00 build 13
(b) Per Linksys support, I've reflashed the firmware. Didn't make any difference
(c) I'm working in a wired environment (this is not a wirelss issue...although it happens via wireless the same way)
(d) I'm running Win XP SP3 (have also tried on Vista HE 64...same results)
(e) The USB disk is a Seagate FreeAgent 1.5 TB (which is on the list of compatible devices for this router)
(f) I do most of my work at the command line with NET USE commands. The files are being copied via ROBOCOPY and or XCOPY. Just basic scripting. Note: I get the same results if I use Windows Explorer to map/copy files.
(g) I've validated the Seagate drive is not the issue by plugging in the the computer and using it for several days. Have had no issues copying files to it It's formatted as NTFS. Chkdsk and SeaTools show no issues with the drive.
(h) I am copying large volumes of data (i.e. entire folders of movies, backups of "USERS" folder, etc.).
(i) It's not any one paritcular file or folder this issue occurs on. It will make a little progress, then flake out. Upon restarting, it will make a little more, then flake out, etc.
(j) Just to be safe, I turned off the sleep mode/spin down option on the FreeAgent drive to ensue that wasn't the problem.
(k) I haven't made any elaborate router settings (haven't changed many defaults). Haven't turned on FTP, Media Server functions, etc. I've just done some basic things like (1) change the ssid (2) set up some DHCP reservations (3) changed the security to WPA2 (4) changed admin password (5) set up port forwarding for two apps. I've not created any policies, turned on guest accounts, enabled logging, etc.
(l) I am doing all of the above with an admin account (on the router, I created an admin user acccount for myself). I've been careful to always map the drive with that userid/password.
Is anyone else having reliability issues with access to thier attached USB storage. I was very hopeful that the storage attached to the router would be readily available. I'm not expecting or needing great performance, but do need it to be "always on" for the purposes of sharing files and executing backups. Eventually, I would like to use some of the other features of the router (streaming video the PS3 and external FTP access for example). However, for now, I just want the attached storage to work.

ok, solely speaking about this E42 router, i have had it for 2 weeks now and i had a buffalo 500gb drive on the usb port. i had all sorts of junk on the drive..just random files, etc, and the ones that were supported by the PS3 would stream fine form the drive. i even have a sony BD player (s770) and its able to see the files and drive and stream. the PS3 is wired and the BD player is wireless. i have a laptop (wireless) and it has the same results.
last night i purchased a seagate go flex 2TB and plan to ONLY put media type files on this drive and try and clean things up and stop being lazy.. so far i have transferred a FEW small video and audio files from a wired computer with zero issues.
now let me ask, when you are transferring these huge files, are you like copying a folder and pasting it onto the mapped seagate drive? or are you doing individual files, etc? i dont have a folder with a bunch of GBs of files but i will try and see if i can reproduce the problem you see.
however thus far with the few small media files i have transferred on this new go flex 2TB drive, they have all transferred over. im talking about a couple GBs worth -ish...

WRT600N USB STORAGE ISSUE

My WRT600N now has my maxtor 750gig HDD attached. The web page shows its there. Yet I cant access it. How do I set this up? Thanks

Firstly check that on which files system it is formatted ....
Also check that are you able to copy somthing on the harddrive ....

V-cast setup issue; turning USB storage off

.I am trying to use V-cast. Media Manager.
I've installed the app on my Droid X and on my desktop. I have the USB cable connected and I have V-Case MM open on my desktop. Everything seems to be set to "Go" until I launch V-cast on the phone.
When I do that I get the following error: "Memory card error, card mounted or not present. Please make sure memory card is inserted and USB storage is turned off."
I know the card is present, and mounted because the Droid X comes with the card already installed.
But I went to "Settings/SD card & phone storage settings" just to be sure. It shows "Total space 14.87GB" and "Available space 14.80GB", and an "Mount SD Card" option. "Internal phone storage" shows 6.22GB of available space.
Now here's the rub.
When I plug in the USB cable in the SD card data information changes to "unavailable" and the "Unmount..." option changes to "Mount SD card".
I'm guessing the issue is with the last part of the error message: "USB storage is turned off" but I don't know how to turn it on.
What is USB storage? Is it to off site storage option Verizon offers? Am I required to "Subscribe" in order for this app to work?

I believe you have to be in PC Mode not Mass Storage... Try changing that under mount options.

A2107A USB storage puzzle

I've recently acquired two of these tablets (over-enthusiastic bidding on eBay!), and I'm pretty happy with them. But puzzled about the USB storage they offer: they seem to be identical units, same model number, build number, baseband version. But one of them says it has 12.26Gb of total USB storage, the other only 1.35GB. Any explanation? Genuinely differently hardware inside? Or some software issue that might be fixable?

Is "USB Storage App" the actual name of an app? If you go to the app's page on the App Store, there should be a link to the developer's support page.

A2107a SD vs USB Storage

I have the A2107a tablet and nothing has moved to my sd card, If I try to change the storage from USB storage to sd card I get this message: (1) If you select SD storage, the applications that installed in USB Storage can't be used and the device will reboot, are you sure to change to SD storage.
My question is nothing has gone to my sd card and I can't even upgrade anything cause all is in usb storage and there isn't much room left for any upgrades..
(2) How can I move certain programs or games that I originally installed, music to my sd card??.
And should I make the original move (1)

SD versions of TV shows and films will be smaller than the HD versions e.g. looking at some of the new films in the store here in the UK, for Argo the HD version is 4.85 gig, the SD version is 1.98 gig, and for The Master it's 5.73 and 1.97 gig - for TV shows the recent series of Top Gear have HD episoded of 2.37 to 2.46 gig, SD versions of 716 to 796 meg.
The advantage of SD versions will be smaller downloads, and you can fit more of them on your iPad

Aperture can't empty Trash on USB storage (permissions)

Problem:
- Aperture 3.6 cannot delete referenced files located on external USB storage directly attached to my MacBook Pro with Yosemity.
- When I try to empty Trash in Aperture, I get "You don’t have access to the System Trash on the original files’ volume."
The drive is NTFS formatted 4Tb in RAID-1 (Raidon's GR3630-SB3 model).
I have Paragon's "NTFS for Mac OS" installed on my MacBook which works fine and Access Permissions enabled.
At the same time, I tested my 64Gb USB flash drive with NTFS and it worked FINE!
I played with permissions using 3rd party apps like BatChmod. No luck.
I googled and searched this Forum.
People had similar problems with NAS (networked) storage, though if a storage is directly attached, they say it should work as designed.
One solution is a script, though it skipped some of the referenced files - unpredictable results and risks to the master's library.
Any idea how to fix this drive or Aperture issue?

I can't confirm now if drive's trashes can be seen in the main Mac Trash. It's busy replicating RAID1 now. I will check later.
That is your next step. Post back when you can test it.
However as noted, this will always be problematic and if reformatting the drive for OS X is not possible then I'd strongly suggest you get a drive to store your referenced originals on. Given the price of disk, just got 2tb for $80 US at newegg this would seem to be your best option.

External usb storage

The external usb storage is only detected on a restart of the Z4 tablet. On my Z1 compact phone it is recognised when plugged in. Has anybody else had the same issue? Yes it is FAT32 and my phone has no issues with it. Thanks.

I have been in touch with Sony 'Xperia Care' about the issues I have raised with the USB support on the Z4 tablet. Again I have the full transcript, but the following extracts from their email confirm my worst suspicions. They said: 'I can confirm that when a USB device is connected to the tablet the SD card is meant to unmount.' and 'We would also not recommend using a USB hub on the tablet as this not the intended purpose of connecting a USB device to the tablet, the main one being for external storage. '
What follows is based on my experience so far: This means that while a USB memory device is attached to the Z4 tablet, any app which has been transferred to the SD card will stop. If an app attempts to run in the background, the Z4 tablet can crash. This has happened on my Z4 tablet.Using 'Tap here to safely remove USB storage' does not re-mount the SD card. The only way to restore access to the SD card is to restart the Z4 tablet.On some occasions, both USB memory AND SD based apps work, despite what Xperia Care say! However this not the norm! When the USB device is removed, the SD card becomes unmounted!Although Sony do not recommend the use of USB hubs, they do work. However: If the hub offers power to the Z4 tablet, the Z4 will go in to 'charge' mode and disables the OTG data mode. If the hub is completely non-powered, the Z4 tablet is likely to disable power to the USB port and close it down if you attach multiple devices. It certainly can't power a USB powered hard drive, unlike my LG G3 phone which can! If the hub powers USB devices but not the Z4 tablet, it seems to work normally. However, the USB implementation on the Z4 can only support ONE memory device, again unlike my LG G3 phone which supports the two I have tried and probably more!I have told Xperia Care that I think the USB support on the Z4 tablet is a mess!

After spending 4 hours (no exageration) with Linksys Level 2 tech support I am at my wits end....
I just purchased a WRT610N and want to use the USB storage feature to backup my primary desktop. Here's the specifics:
Desktop is an older Dell XPS runnings XP SP3. Desktop has three logons....for myself and my kids.
I'd also like each desktop logon to be able to access the router USB storage feature so that we have a common place for pictures, etc.
I have an office laptop and I would like this to access the storage device
Eventually I will be adding more computers to the network for my kids.
I'm also interested in using the FTP access to get to the files on the storage device when I am away from home.
Through 3 separate tech support calls, each tech tried a different approach to get this to work. Nothing worked. I want to start from scratch.... What is the best way to accomplish what I want to do? After suffering through the pain, is the WRT610N a good solution or should I return it to Amazon and do this some other way?
A final note, tech support did upgrade the WRT610N's firmware to 1.00.00.18.

The harsh reality is that the results for people trying to use the Storage Link function have been mixed, at best. Especially in trying to utilize it for a "backuP' function. The kernel used to manage the Storage Link is apparently unix/linux based, and has some difficulty playing nice with Windows based backup utilities. Additionally, there have been reports that the connectivity to the attached devices is, at times, poor. Finally, there are issues with file corruption (date/time stamps, specifically). There have been no firmware updates to deal with these issues. If your primary need is for an attached NAS solution, I would strongly recommend looking at other devices for that solution.

My new iphone 5 can not connect to itunes, it comes up as a usb storage device when I plug it in, also in the phone under settings/usage it shows internal memory of 2gb and SD card of 64gb, I cannot get it to connect to itunes at all so cannot sync etc, is this a genuine Iphone or a copy. I have owned 4 iphones and never had a problem with connecting to iphones and restoreing to a backup.

It does not use SD cards.
Fake iphones are really Android phones using the skin of iOS6.
Click on the App Store icon. If it takes you to Apple's App Store, then it's a real iPhone.
But if you are directed to Google Play, then I'm afraid you've gotten a copy.

Windows Server 2012 Group Policy Block USB Storage devices @ User Level Not getting applied on a Domain Client machine with Windows Server 2008 R2. Why?

I have a Windows Server 2012 R2.
I have configured the Group Policy on it to block the usage of USB - Storage Devices @ user level on the client machines. It works properly for my Windows 7 client machines but it's not working on one of the machine having Windows Server 2008 R2 installed
on it (this machine is also a domain client in the same domain).
I will really be thankful if anyone can suggest some solution to this issue.
Please feel free to write back in-case I have missed anything obvious to be shared.

USB storage devices not being recognised

Product:
13" Macbook Pro w/ Retina Display (Late 2013 model)
OS X Yosemite (version 10.10.2)
2.4GHz i5, 8gb 1600 MHz DDR3, 256gb HDD
Issue:
- macbook unable to recognise USB storage devices.
- can be found on disk utility but 'greyed out'.
- cannot be found under devices in finder.
- tried restarting laptop, no effect.
- additional storage via Nifty + 64gb micro SD is working fine.
- apple products (iPod/iPhone/iPad) and printer/scanner working fine, only storage devices appear to be affected.
- USB-ethernet adapter appears to be working w/o problems too.
- last technical thing done to the computer was SMC reset 5 days ago for power cable light not working properly (fixed with reset).

I seem to having some issues with my macbook and the ability to use USB storage devices. The SD card slot appears to be working fine as I have a nifty device attached on. I'm not sure exactly when this started to happen but it was working last week for sure.
I've put some succinct notes above for anyone who is willing to help out and is able to use it to determine the problem but I don't think it's a hardware issue. Maybe it's a bug with the new OS X update over the weekend?
I've attached a screenshot of the disk utility below as well.
If anyone could help me out then that would be greatly appreciated.

Some users on another Apple thread had success in running Kext Utility last November with similar issues.
I ran kext utility 2.6.1, restarted my computer and everything was working again.
