All yo can do is either find a compatible app that works for your 3G iPod (iOS 5.1.1) or purchase a new model iPod.

Preventing an App Update with iOS7

iOS7 when installed will have an Automatic App Update feature. That's a nice feature to have, however I have a Game App (Real Racing 3) which I do not want updated. The developer of that App continually degrades some of the App features by raising IAP costs within the "Freeium" App with almost every update. Is there a way that I can suspend iOS7 from immediately implementing the Automatic Update feature until I can change it in the General Settings? I just want my iPad to never update one App.

I'm currently 64% completed, was more before new cars & races were added, and I've earned & spent the best part of R$12 million. No cheats required and the game still has some gameplay left for me. I'll quit when progress isn't possible without forking out real cash which I won't do. I'd have happily paid a few pounds for special cars along the way but the in-app rates for game cash/gold are over the top so they'll get nothing.

Once you turn on the automatic/background updating of apps in iOS 7, is there any way to know which apps have been recently updated? For example, there may be new features in an app that you would want to know about.

You can also open the App Store app > Updates and it will list the apps and date they were updated.
There should also be an alert in your Notification Center (swipe down from the top of the screen) under the "All" tab

Take it into an AT&T store if there's one nearby. It sounds time-intensive, but it's not, and will save you hours of troubleshooting.

Why wont my facebook app update with IOS7

After update to IOS 7 on my Iphone 5 my facebook app will not update at all. I have deleted it many times and restarted my phone and had no luck. Any suggestions?

Has anyone come up with a solution to this yet?? I upgraded to iOS 7, but since then, I have been unable to update the Facebook iOS app from v.5 to v.6.5. When I go into the App store on the web or on my iPhone 5, it says it's already installed, and says I have the 6.5 version. But on my phone under Settings, it says I only have v.5. I have tried deleting the app from my phone and rebooting several times, but I can't break out of v.5. Can you please help me get unstuck so I can put 6.5 on my phone? This problem has existed since I upgraded my phone to iOS 7.
I had someone in Apple tech support trying to find an answer, but he just came back with a big goose-egg on my question, other than suggesting I go to Facebook Help (like that wasn't the very first thing I did long before calling Apple). And of course, Facebook Help is a misnomer.

I had the same problem under 7.1
I solved it by erasing my phone completely (in settings/reset) and restored it from an iTunes Backup.

Facebook app has not shown notifications since iOS7 beta 2....

I have tried everything...uninstalling, reinstalling, removing the info, unchecking every notification push box within the app, restarting, restoring....everything under the sun has been tried by me, but ever since the second iOS7 beta my Facebook AND facebook Messenger apps have NOT given me any push notifications for anything. I have to start the app and then it will hit me with the updates....
does anyone have any idea what i can do to fix this? no other app is giving me this headache......It is one of the most used apps I have and I was hoping it would be fixed with the final iOS7 build and then with a new FB update....but that didnt fix it either

You do not want to do the Delete/Redownload the App from/to your iTunes Library - you want to Delete/Redownload it from/to your Device. When you hook up your device to iTunes, click on the device, then on the Apps tab to the right in the Device Profile Screens (not on the App under Apps in the Library).
You should see a little box next to the App that says "Remove". Click on that. It will then change to "Will Remove". Sync your device to remove the app. Then eject the device, check it to make sure the app is no linger listed with "Open" next to it. (depending on your display options, you may still see it but with a little Cloud next to it, or you may not see it listed at all).
Plug the device back into the computer, and select it again. Then, under Apps in the Device Profile, see if the little box next to the App says "Will Install" If it does, then sync to reinstall it. If it does not, click on the box until you see the "Will Install" option and then sync.

We do not share an apple ID and her phone is now logged in with her account and I have since backed it up on itunes under her account as well. I have turned off automatic downloads on her phone but they still keep downloading. I delete one app and then another one just appears on the phone.

Problem with App update after upgrade to ios7

I have just upgraded to ipads (ipad2 + ipad mini) to ios7.
One thing I have noticed on both.
I updated apps in the app store, now the apps that updated are sitting on the screen, they have been updated, and can be opened.
However in the past once apps had been updated this screen would clear.
I have tried logging out/in in itunes. Hard reset. Restore from itunes.
Still the same.
How do I refresh this screen.

I cannot find it again, but I found a possible answer in another forum.
It is correect. Ios 7 has an option for auto app update.
The information is left on the screen to advise you which apps have been updated. Apparently they will clear after a week, only time will tell.
If I find the link I will repost.
One thing I noticed was that if you delete the app the update notice goes, only to return when you reinstall.......weird.

Ive tried using wifi and 3G seperately. Ive tried restarting the phone. Ive tried restoring it from a backup but none of these have worked yet.

I have updated to IOS7 on my Ipad and Iphone. I've noticed now that when i get a notice that an app needs an update, I tap the "install" button and after the update is finished the "install" icon changes to "open". Problem is that even if i tap the "open" icon, the app opens has it should. But when I return to the "app store" icon under updates the app I just open still appears on the list and still has the "open" icon visable. Use to be once you updated an app it would dissapear from the update list. I know have a list of 7 apps all updated and showing the "open" icon on my Iphone 5 and 13 on my Ipad. I've tried shutting down my device and restarting, yet they still show up on the list. Is it just me, have I missed a setting or something? How do I get rid of updated app showing up on my update list?

I've had the same issues since iOS 7 was released last week. Sometimes my iPad' App Store icon's badge shows I have 3 updates. When I enter the App Store to update them, there are no updates shown. When I back out of the App Store, they are no longer shown on the iPad's App Store icon. When I again enter the App Store, only 2 updates show up. It's all very inconsistent. Rebooting, restarting, etc all do nothing. I believe the issue to be on Apple's end.
