Apps will launch but close immediately after updating to iSO5

Ling 6 and learn to listen apps will not stay open after launched; receupdated iPad2 to the iSO5. Other apps are fine. Rebooting did not work. Uninstalled app and reinstalled still won't work. Help. Need these apps for students I work with.

If this is happening with all of your apps, download any free app from the App Store. That usually fixes it. If it's just one app, delete the app and reinstall it.

Mail app flashes open but closes immediately

Every time I try to open my Mail app it flashes open but then closes right away.
When I go into Settings > Mail it says "ACCOUNTS ARE CURRENTLY SYNCING." -- but I don't show anywhere that it is syncing to my iPad.
Any suggestions??

First, reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button for about 10sec, until the Apple logo comes back again. You will not lose any data by resetting, but it can cure some glitches.
Restoring for the latest backup would be the next step after that:
How to erase your iOS device and then set it up as a new device or restore it from backups
If this does not work, delete the account and set it up again.

Why do apps close immediately after opening?

I updated to iOS 4.3.3 on my iPad, now my apps close immediately after I open them.
Built-in apps are OK, but all my added apps no longer run!

I have rebooted using the sleep button held down for 10 seconds. No joy.
Now, I was advised to hold down sleep button and home circle button at same time and disregard the red bar... this reboots to Apple circle, but still apps close really fast after I try to open them.
This actually started several hours after my update, not right away, but that is all that changed.
Very frustrating!

Jeanne ... You answered my post in a totally different thread but I did read it. If the problem is in the OS, why do the built in Apple apps not cause the iPad to crash? That reasoning makes no sense to me. Did you try closing all of the apps like I suggested and then restart?
Another way to approach this is to remove all of the apps from your iPad. Do this by removing them when you sync. Simply uncheck all of the non Apple apps and sync. Then - one or two apps at a time- add them back on to the iPad by resyncing. Use those one or two apps and see if they crash. If they don't crash, add one or two more apps and try those. Keep repeating the process until the iPad starts to crash again. You should be able to narrow down which app is causing the problem.
Are you sure that all of these apps are compatible with 4.3.3. as well? Check in the app store and make sure that they are.

A response I put together from another post. Also going into iTunes and choosing to sync phone to iCloud then back "this computer" sometimes works.
First thing.. Stop where you are. Don't try to sync, update, hard reset, iCloud... Just stop.
Check on your phone under 'SETTINGS' 'GENERAL' USAGE'. It should show some value for PHOTOSTREAM. Also, connect to iTunes and you will notice at the bottom of your phones summary page that there is a large amount of 'OTHER' data.
I used third party software called iExplorer (formerly iPhone explorer). In this program you select 'MEDIA FOLDER', then 'DCIM'. In the various apple folders (IE: 101APPLE) you should be able to preview your photos and copy them to your desktop.
From there sync them back to your device through iTunes or whatever method you use.
There is a simpler solution I'm sure, which may involve using iExplorer to delete some .plist files then restart the phone and let it rebuild. I'm going to try it myself AFTER I've finished copying all the photos to my MAC

PS and LR CC, neither app will launch...

Just bought and installed PS and LR via CC both apps installed and are in the correct win dir. Neither app will launch (tho PS does very quickly flash the splash screen before closing). I have tried the fix at http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/cc-applications-crash-immediately-launch.html, it did not work. I done a system restore and went trough the whole CC install process again, but still LR nor PS will open.I have tried disconnecting from the internet before launch but also with no success. Have updated graphic the card driver and have all the latest windows drivers installed. Have spent many hours now trying to find a fix. Any ideas?

Go to the Windows Control Panel and select Hardware and Sound and then select Device Manager... In Device manager you click the + sign to the left of Display Adapters... and see if 2 are listed

Downloaded Apps open and then close immediately

The downloaded apps, not the apps that came with the phone, close immediately after i open them. i have reseted it multiple times and it doesnt work. HELP!!

I too have just experienced this, I suspect because I hooked my iphone up to a friends laptop when visiting on holiday (in Canada) and thought that rather than opening a new topic, I'd add on the end of this one...
I have tried all suggestions found on Google (a restore, de-authorising my laptop and re-authorising with the itunes store, not syncing apps, downloading a new app (on the iphone and on my laptop) and then re-syncing and none of this has worked.
Interestingly, if I download a brand new app via my laptop and sync it to my iphone, it works but all of my old apps restored from the backup open and then close within 2 seconds.
Can anyone help?

SkillBuilders Modal Page... closes immediately after loading

I would like to use the Modal Page plug-in from http://www.skillbuilders.com .*
I installed the two sample applications from their web site with different results:
The employee example works fine.
The example with the modal feedback worked fine yesterday, but today it shrinks (after loading normally) so that I can't see anything but the bar with the window name and the close button.
In my own application it's even worse:
I have links in a table which should open a modal window on click.
I tried several settings, but the only thing that's happening is that the window closes immediately after loading and showing the page for a half a second (or not at all).
Leaving the "Auto-close On Element Selector" empty did not work. The default value "div#success-message" kept coming back until I replaced it with "null". But still no effect.
Does anyone have any idea what could cause this behaviour?

The Security Settings for all three applications:
Cache: Enabled
Embed in Frames: Allow

In the meantime I had the problem that the window didn't close at all, but I think I figured it out.
So if the Modal Plug In does not work properly, check the following:
<li>Does every process that should close the window have a 'Success Message' defined?
<li>In the unconditional branch, is "include process success message" checked?
<li>In the dynamic action, is "Auto-close On Element Selector" set to "div.t1success" in the true action?
BTW: The "shrinking problem" described in the first post still exists - in IE. In Firefox, it works fine.

some strange behaviour I noticed recently: the App Store-app asks for my password *immediately after I opened it* (before I clicked on any app to install it ...).

Login to iTunes on your computer and check for available downloads. You have something waiting to download that is too big to download on your phone. Once this downloads, the prompts will stop on the phone.

Assuming that the battery isn't empty (and it can take up to 15 minutes of charging before it will respond), then have you tried a reset ? Press and hold both the sleep/on/off and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds, after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

Could you please let me know what version of OS are you using.
Open Acrobat and go to "Edit > Preferences > Page Display" and check whether 'Show large images' option is checked.
Is this issue specific for one PDF?
If possible, please share the file with me via email so that I can also check at my end.

Activation - product activated but closes right after

I bought the Creative Suite, and have a valid activation code. When I enter it, it says that it works, however the program closes immediately after. When I open it again, it asks me to activate it, accepts the code, and closes again. It's just an endless cycle. Help? Thanks!
