Apps wont download on ipad 3 with IOS 6

Since yesterday 21st september apps say "downloading" while nothing happens. Is anybody having the same problem?

Same thing happened to me for the first time last night.......one update and one app install just got "stuck" on waiting. I just turned my iPad off and then back on again. Problem solved.....no more "waiting" icons.  Went back to the app store and did the update for Twitter, let it finish, and then re-installed the app I was trying to install previously.
As with smartphones and computers, I have found that when a problem arises, the first thing to try is the "shut it down, and then start it back up again" option .

    What happens when you try.
Apps are tied to the apple id that was used to purchase it, so you can't use your new Apple id to update the app, you will need to use the old one.

Download the iBooks app to iTunes on your computer. Once it's downloaded, go to the Purchased section in the App Store on the iPad, select iBooks and you should be prompted to download a compatible version.

iPad 2 with iOS 7.0.2 -- safari loads fine as does gmail.  However, Sir,i App Store and youtube among other such things will not connect.  I am at a loss. What could be going on?

    Try a Restart.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red "slide to power off" slider appears, and then slide the slider. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
     Resetting your settings
You can also try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your device settings again.... All of the settings in the settings app will have to be re-entered. You won't lose any data, but it takes time to enter all of the settings again.
    Resetting your device
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Apple recommends this only if you are unable to restart it.
Or if this doesn't work and nobody else on the blog doesn't have a better idea you can contact Apple.
Here is a link to their contacts with most of the information below.

  • I did not install icloud when setup my ipad and now I cannot install icloud on ipad 3 with ios 8.1.

I did not install icloud when setup my ipad and now I cannot install icloud on ipad 3 with ios 8.1.  Everything in Settings is complete and correct.  I can log in from my PC with no trouble.  If I go to icloud.com on Safari on the ipad, it takes me to a instruction page which only says to complete icloud in Settings.

That's happening because icloud.com is not designed to be viewed from the mobile version of Safari on your iPad, only from your computer browser.*   You can still access it on your iPad if you're running iOS 8 by going to icloud.com, then tapping on the address bar where the url is displayed, tap the center of the screen and drag down, then tap "Request Desktop Site" under the address bar at the top.  This will load the full desktop version of icloud.com.  You'll find, however, that not all of the the features will respond to the touch screen.
    * That's because all of your iCloud data is already on your iPad and can be accessed from within the apps that you are syncing with iCloud (contacts, calendars, notes, reminders, etc.)  If you need to use Find My iPhone (iPad), you can download the free Find My iPhone app to do so.

  • Adobe Reader 10.2.0 (58582) on iPad 2 with iOS 5.1.1 (9B206) dies rendering USGS topo maps

I downloaded Adobe Reader today from the app store because I wanted to look at some high resolution, multi-layered topo maps with Cub Scouts on my iPad 2 and I figured that Adobe Reader would be the best app for the job.
    Example: http://ims.er.usgs.gov/gda_services/download?item_id=5258723&quad=Boone&state=NC&grid=7.5X 7.5&series=TNM%20GeoPDF
The link above is to a zipped copy of a PDF... Safari will not open it directly. So, I unzipped it and put a copy of it on a web server: https://www2.ecrsoft.com/boone.pdf
Safari will download that, but when I open it in Adobe Reader, the app disappears (presumable crashes) after rendering the first few layers. I really wish it'd work, because Safari is really slow to render the graphics when you zoom in.
The device has 512 MB RAM... it should be able to handle these files. I know the PDF file is OK. It works in the latest Windows version of Adobe Reader.
    Help me Adobe.

    Hi Matthew,
The issue appears to be that the file takes quite a bit of memory to render. We're continuously making optimizations in how we manage memory during rendering. I have some good news and bad news. I tested the boone.pdf (an awesome file that I'll keep for testing) in our upcoming release (10.2.1) and it opens there (on my ipad 2 with ios 5.1.1). It renders considerably slower on my iPad 3 since the resolution is doubled there, but still doesn't crash. We're awaiting approval from apple on that 10.2.1 release, so please keep on the lookout for updates. Thanks for the file!

If nothing else works, you might try this one. It has worked for many others ...
Use iTunes to do a reset to factory default condition. Always be sure to do your backups before fiddling with your iPad. You might do both the iCloud and the iTunes backup, just to be sure!

Re: IPAD2 very slow after IOS 8 upgradein response to pacoKAS
SOLVED:  IOS 8 Issues on iPad 2:
I just returned home from a visit to the Genius Bar. Like you and many others, when I upgraded my iPad 2 to IOS 8, it became practically unusable. It was VERY slow, lagged whenever trying to to do anything. Lots of screen freezes and apps spontaneously crashing. I was convinced that the processor on the iPad 2 just couldn't handle the new IOS and I went in to see about restoring to IOS 7.
Thankfully, I was hooked up with a very sharp guy at the bar. The problem is not with the OS, it is with it being an *upgraded* OS. He used the analogy of when you had an older Windows computer and how over time (and over upgrades), they just tended to get slower and slower because of all of the garbage that was carried forward in the upgrades. At those times (and if you've ever had a Windows computer, you get this), the only thing that would speed it up would be to wipe the machine and do a fresh install of the current OS and then reload your apps, and the viola, everything would be fast again. Well, it turns out that IOS can suffer the same problems.
THE FIX:  FIRST, be sure you have a current iCloud backup of your device.  Connect your iPad to a computer that has a clean fresh copy of IOS 8 on iTunes (this is best done with a computer other than the one that you sync your device to because you DO NOT want to restore it from a back up just yet). Ideally, if you do this at an Apple store you'll be assured of the right version there and someone to answer any questions you might have along the way. You then hold the power and home button down to hard-reset the device and continue to hold them down until it reboots into recovery mode. You then follow the instructions on the computer to reinstall the OS on the device (which wipes everything from it and then reinstalls a clean copy of it). Once this is done (which only takes about 15 minutes), your device will reboot and ask you to set it up. Answer the questions about language, location, etc. and continue until it asks you to log into your iTunes account. Once you do that, it will ask if you want to either 1) Set it up as a new device, 2) Restore from iCloud, or 3) Restore from iTunes. Choose (2), restore from iCloud. This will ensure that it brings down "clean" copies of all of your apps and preferences rather than the potentially corrupted ones that might reside in your iTunes backup. That's it! It will take a few hours depending on how much data and apps you have, but I am happy to report that my iPad 2 is now running IOS 8 and it's running as fast as it ever did when it was brand new!
To sum it up, this process 1) Wipes your device and the garbage causing your problems, 2) Loads a clean and bug-free version of IOS 8 to your device, and 3) restores your apps and data so that it looks just like it did before the wipe, with the exception that it works now!  :-)
Note also that by following this process you don't have to go through the painful and laborious process of reloading all of your apps, data and/or settings. iCloud takes care of all of that for you.

    Hi jybravo70,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
It sounds like you may be experiencing issues on your non iOS 8 devices because iOS 8 is required to set up or join a Family Sharing group.
The following information is located in the print at the bottom of the article.
Apple - iCloud - Family Sharing
Family Sharing requires a personal Apple ID signed in to iCloud and iTunes. Music, movies, TV shows, and books can be downloaded on up to 10 devices per account, five of which can be computers. iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite are required to set up or join a Family Sharing group and are recommended for full functionality. Not all content is eligible for Family Sharing.
    Have a great day,

Who can shed some light on my ongoing connection problem.
After upgrading my iPad Air with IOS 7.06, I could no longer connect to the internet.
I have 2 MacBooks Air, 1 ipad mini and one iPhone 4S running on the same network, and they are all connected to the net and function well.
So I cleaned up the ipad completely, installed the latest firmware and reinstalled my apps : no connection.
I tried all things of resets and forgets. No result.
I have been fondling with my Airport Extreme 5 , but that did not help much.
This morning I went to a neighbor , hooked my ipad air on his network, typed the password and the thing all worked fine.
I have tried to connect the ipad air as an ethernet client, but that did not work. „Not enough power“ was the statement
    Ideas anyone ?

Yes I tried this manyfold. But did not work.  Reading on, I took Tesserac's advice. Shut down router and computer.
Start router after 15 minutes and wait another 10 minutes before starting the computer.
Et voila.... everything is back in working order,

Is there really not an email address for tech support? ( I really do not want to waste time being put on hold on the phone.)
However, I have 3 Issues Regarding iPad 2 with IOS 7:
1.)  I can no longer open up the apps from the update page. (I used to be
able to & it was a quick way of making certain that I wanted to keep an app
    before I updated it.
2.)  I have many apps that I have updated since installing the new
operating system & they now have "open" symbols next to them, but I don't
know how to get them off of my update list (since that has already been
    done to them).
3.)  My iPad has gotten stuck or frozen more in this last week since the
new update then has in the last 2 years put together. (It seems to be stemming from the "Updates" page as sometimes  that page is just white & will not open, even though everything else opens & I have an internet connection.)

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430

Same way as always. Purchases directly for the App store on the iPod or download on your computer and sync to your iPod. To more easily find compatible apps:
iOSSearch - search the iTunes store for compatible apps.
    Vintapps 3.1.3 - paid app.
