Apps work, then they don't, then they do

I downloaded some of the new Apps today. Fun and cool BUT some did work and some didn't, I resynced and some of the ones that worked before did and some didn't. Some even rebooted my phone on their own. My phone has plenty of memory left and I was using wifi. Can you only use so many apps on your phone? Anyone else having this issue? Any ideas or do I just have to wait for a bug fix?

The iPhone/iPod Touch SDK was a beta version up until recently, and might still be a beta version even with the most recent SDK update.
This may have something to do with it, or the developers rushed their application to be available when the iTunes App Store went online.
I experienced the same with some applications (namely with free applications) and after deleting and re-installing the apps that weren't working properly, this seemed to have resolved it. Hopefully some updates that include bug fixes will be forthcoming from the developers.

  • Did latest iPhone update and now non of my third party apps work.  They open then close immediately.   I tried to restore but can't as my iphone wont sync with itunes now and I will loose my apps.  Also my largest app "Sat Nav" has gone.  Help ??

    Hi All
I have run into problems with my iPhone 4.  I hadn't done an update for a while so decided to get my itunes and iphone 4 up to date.  I downloaded all the latest versions.  However now non of my third party apps work and my largest one has vanished.  I try and open them and they flash up and then close again. I thought the easiest thing to do was to restore so I tried to syn my apps onto itunes so I wouldn't loose them.  However it won't let me sync the apps onto iTunes.  It ill allow me to syn the old version when I just started but since then I have bought a dozen other apps.  Can anyone help.  thanks

Well this won't work for me...
I had all of my apps and music stored in iTunes, I updated to the newest 9.2 iTunes and did a 4.0 update to my iPhone 3G all the while not noticing that EVERYTHING IN iTUNES was GONE. When I got done updating my iPhone it was late so i went to bed... Next day came back to sync everything and thats when I saw it was all gone...

did what the link said and NOW I have all my 6K+ MUSIC back but not ONE APP. The App's are completely gone from when you nav. to the location the link says... There isn't a mobile sync folder there...
NOT SURE WHAT TO DO NEXT... Very Frustrated and MAD. I don't want to redownload all my apps manually. TO many to do it that way.

  • "Apps@Work"

Few days ago a new icon appeared on my iPad screen "Apps@Work". I don't recall installing it, but at my age who knows...(:
The thing is that I would like to remove it and it doesn't work.
When I touch and hold the app icon on the Home screen, until the icons start to jiggle, no X appears near it to be pressed. I tried to remove it via iTunes while the iPad was connected to my computer - same results...
Anyone  familiar with "Apps@Work"? It is a strange icon - when I click it doesn't open any new application - it open the Safari and I get some kind of error page - "HTTP Status 401" web page.
Any other ways I can use in order to delete it, besides resetting the iPad etc?
    Thanks,
    Eli

  • I have ios 5.1.1. When I sync to iTunes, my purchased apps no longer work. They blink but do not open. The only way I have been able to solve this, is as follows: I delete one of the apps and then re-download and install it. Then, all my apps work.

My new iPod touch 64 Gig has a problem after syncing with iTunes. My purchased apps no longer work. I touch them and they seem to try to open but they do not.
The only way I have found to fix this is as follows:
I delete one of the purchased apps. Then I go to the App Store and re-download and install the same app. After that, all my apps work again.
    Please help.

Download/install an app is a know possible solution.
    3. Install another app from the App Store
If all user-installed apps are not launching, it could be an Apple ID authorization issue. Download and install an app that isn't already installed on your device to reset this information.
Note: If you have installed apps using multiple Apple ID accounts, you may need to perform this step for each account.

    They don't exist in iCloud.
iCloud is Apple's service for backups and App data storage / syncing.
Purchased Apps, when removed from the iPad will still appear in your Purchased history, and you can still download them from "the" cloud which is just a generic term for Apple's App servers.
Purchased Apps can de re-downloaded for free from the "cloud".  To allow you to do this Apple keeps a historic list of all your purchases so you can download them again should you ever need to without charging you again for them.
This has nothing to do with the iCloud service you can choose not to use. For Calendars, Notes etc...
    It is independent un unrelated.

#Restore speaker icon to System Task bar, right-click on clock or tray > Properties > Volume: On

  • I'm trying to delete some recently downloaded apps that don't work. They are faded grey and although they shake with the other apps, no cross appears in the top corner. Any ideas anyone? Thanks, Sean

I have the same issue witha  slight variation.  The app icons that are grayed out and cannot be deleted are DUPLICATES of other apps that I already have.  For instance I now have 2 Redbox apps - one works normally, the other cannot be opened or deleted.

  • Why is iMovie and pages show up in the free apps and then they show that you have to pay? Are they free or not?

Why is Pages, Keynote and Imovie showing up in the free apps area but they show that they are 14.99 and 19.99? Are they free or not?

They are free with a new machine purchase or if you already have the most current previous version installed.
To get iMovie version 10 you must be currently running iMovie version 9. The same with all the other apps.

  • I currently have my credit card on my iTunes account and when I have no money in my bank account it won't let me download the free apps even though they don't cost anything. How do I stop this so I can download or remove my credit card?

All downloads from iTunes are tied to the account that downloaded it, you can't re-download content via a different account. You checked the spam folder on yourr old account as well as the Inbox, and depending upon how long ago you did it, have you retried getting it reset : http://appleid.apple.com, then 'reset your password' ?

  • Is there a way to hide apps from the app store? I don't want my kids to see those "free" apps that nag you to spend real money and download their other apps! I can hide them from "purchased apps", but they still show up when browsing for new apps!

Not other than parental oversight. On the computer you can implement Parental Controls on a separate user account that they would use. You can then block certain websites. But you cannot do that on the iPad.
You could change your iTunes account such that they cannot access it in order to buy or download apps.

  • 2nd Gen iPod Touch - 3rd party apps work for 1 day, next day they crash

Hello I have a brand new 16gb Touch with 2.1.1 software.
My problem is any application from the app store will work fine for 1 day and then the next day when I attempt to open the program it just loads for a second and then crashes back to the home screen. The only thing that works is uninstalling and reinstalling the apps which gets very annoying. It does this everyday though. They will perfectly all day long until I go to bed. Once I wake up and check they just crash. They won't work with the iPod plugged into the PC or with it not and powercycling doesn't make a difference. Only reinstalling them seems to work then the next day they are toast again. Any ideas? Is this thing bad and needs to go back?

I had this problem - did a Restore (having backed up) and found my Apps (all of which had stopped working) NOT on the IPT, but in the Apps folder in iTunes (not sure I'd ever noticed them there before). Couldn't get them on the IPT by Synching etc. THEN - tried open an App from the iTunes window and got the "Computer not authorised to play ...etc" Re submitting the authorisation request just told me I was already authorised, but then did Sync and Apps all ok back on IPT
now, will they stay working for more than a few days????

  • My extensions have stopped working. They appear in the Add-on list as installed, but they don't load with Firefox.

I have many extensions downloaded. They all worked earlier today, but now none of them are working. They appear in the add-on list as installed, but they don't load. I cannot find them anywhere in any Tools or Options. I use Speed Dial, Read It Later, etc., and they're all gone.

You can delete the files extensions.* (extensions.rdf, extensions.cache, extensions.ini, extensions.sqlite) and compatibility.ini in the Firefox [[Profiles|profile folder]] to reset the extensions registry. New files will be created when required.
    See "Corrupt extension files": http://kb.mozillazine.org/Unable_to_install_themes_or_extensions
If you see disabled extensions that are not compatible on the next start in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions" then click the "Find Updates" button to do a compatibility check.

I've had my iPhone 4 for about 4 months now, and suddenly some apps aren't working. They open and appear to work, but as soon as you try to do something it doesn't load. I tried deleting the app and reinstalling it. I also force shut down my phone. I synced it to iTunes. Nothing is working. Does anyone know what I can do?

Basic troubleshooting steps oultlined in the User Guide are restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as new device.
You need to go through all steps in succession until your problem is solved.  If going through ALL these steps fails to resolve your issue, then you'll need to bring your phone into Apple for evaluation and possible replacement.

  • HT1267 IPhone4..Model MC603C/Ser#850441XGXA4S: I have update to 5.1.1. I am not alerted to my emails unless I tap on the mail app. Then the alert/banner appears. When I start up, the alert sounds but after that it does not work. Whats wrong?

Ever since I updating my IPhone 4 to 5.1.1. my alert/banner does not work with my mail app. Initial startup it works but after that, it does
not work. The only way I know there is a message by tapping on the mail app and then I hear the alert and the banner shows up. Prior
to updating, it always worked. Is there a 'bug' in the system or is there something I am missing here.

Yeah this was my first time connecting my phone to the computer since I went to iOS 5.0 and iCloud, so I wasn't familiar with the fact that it did not automatically create a backup on iTunes during the Sync process.  Should have right-clicked on the phone device and did a manual backup.
But still, after restoring the backup from iCloud, I don't understand why data from certain apps got hosed (anything before October 2011, which was my last iTunes backup), while other apps' data appears to be fully intact.

  • Alarms app that work when they aren't open?

I don't know if this is the right place to ask this, but I am looking for an alarm app I can use (besides Apple's) that works even when it isn't open and I am doing something else on the phone. Most apps I've seen only work when they are open, but I am looking for one that can work when it's closed. Thanks!

Try restoring your iPod via iTunes.  First from backup and it the problem persists restore to factory defaults.
If still a problem make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it is likely that your have a hardware problem.
