AppStore really slow on cellular data

I'm currently using threeUK network for my ipad 4th gen latest firmware. I have realised the speed is really slow. Browsing speed is alright, YouTube streaming is alright .etc. but when it comes to AppStore it is ultra slow. After finally loading the AppStore and clicking on install. The download of apps is ultra slow as well. I have been researching and it seems to be similar to people having AppStore slow for most people on wifi. But for me wifi speed is good even before disabling the app genius from location services.

Sorry I didn't realise that But now think its carrier problem not Apple. Sorry Apple
I talked with my carrier and they changed few settings on their end but it didn't help. But after 5 min I had a really really fast speed, but after a minute it was slow again

Did you try to reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button for about 10sec, until the Apple logo comes back again? You will not lose data doing a reset.
If this does not work, set it up again as new device, without using the latest backup afterwards.

  • IPhone 6 Cellular Data Slow

I just recently got my iPhone 6, 16 GB from Sprint. I upgraded from an iPhone 4S. While I love my phone, even with iOS 8.0.2, I am having issues with my cellular data. While I am supposed to be getting LTE in my area, I am mainly stuck on 3G. Also, the phone drops to 1x and eventually to no service. A "Could not activate cellular data network" message pops up from time to time. It's worth noting I live in NW Ohio as far as cellular data coverage goes.
All happens while trying to browse the internet using Safari or other apps which require Internet. Call quality has always been excellent, and I have yet to experience any dropped calls. I have tried resetting my phone, updating my network, and have called Sprint all to no avail. I really enjoy using my iPhone, and hope Apple can resolve the issue.

    Hi kvnrpp,
If you are having an issue with your iPhone not being able to maintain a good connection to the cellular network I would suggest that you troubleshoot using the steps in this article -
iPhone: Troubleshooting a cellular data connection
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

  • My cellular data is going to slow on my iphone 4s,what should i do right now?

my cellular data is going to slow on my iphone 4s,what should i do right now?

a reset no data loss. hold down the home/sleep button together until you see the apple logo and then release.
Or settings - general - reset - reset network settings.
Or contact your cell phone provider.

  • Cellular data....really weird behavior.

    Hello,
I've got a problem using my cellular data connection on my iPhone 5 64gb with last updates. I ve got a data plan with 3 ITA and everythings worked good in the last months...then i moved to london for a while (and used a uk sim) and when i come back and try to use my connection with my 3 ITA plan i noticed a really weird behavior.:
Only whatsapp works....and sometimes facebook messanger notification (but no way to send messages)....or maybe a push notification from the email sometimes. But for example safari or chrome never works...imessage doesnt works. a lot of things don't work.
It's really weird because if I try to reset my iphone and erese everything all seems to work ok so I dont think is a carrier problem. If i restore the backup I start to notice the problems.
    What can be the cause?
Anyone experienced a problem like this?
    Thank you
    Ivan

You should have specified in the title that it's about a MacBook Pro.
Does the same thing happen with other Linux distributions, OS X, or Windows? Because you should be trying to determine if it's a hardware problem or a software problem.
Did it start happening recently, as in, after an update? Intel HD 4000? Check /var/log/pacman.log and downgrade the driver to whatever worked before. But if it's a hardware problem (i.e. it happens on OS X, other distributions, etc), then you need to take it in to the shop, if warranty still applies.

  • After updating to 5.1 data speed gets really  slow

I did update to 5.1 this morning and the data speed for internet and app gets really slow.
I can not use internet and apps like usual at all.
I called att customer service twice and they just said there is no problem.
I reset my phone several times already and nothing get better.
Now i have 4G network sign next to the signal bar and is that because of my phone (4gs) doesn't work for 4g network?
    What should i do?

try restarting your iphone. then if still slow, try reset network settings. <-- this should fix your problem.
if still not  clear your cookies and cache.
    have a great day!!!

  • HT201415 dear i purchased apple iphone 4 s from saudi arabia. i have checked all the setting available on apple website but my cellular data and 3g are still not working. i m really disappointed by apple product.

Can you please tell me the apple service center in jeddah saudi arabia or any authorised dealer who can claim my issues ?

Cellular data and whether 3G works on your phone has nothing to do with the phone itself.  This is the responsibility of your phone company/carrier and is linked to the sim card that you have inserted into your phone.
You don't need to go to a service centre, but you do need to contact your phone company - cellular data and 3G is their responsibility and not Apple's.
Also, this is a public user forum, so you are not addressing Apple here.

  • I want to download over 100mb apps in iOS 8 AppStore over Cellular Data

    Hello
i have iPhone 5s running iOS 8.1,the thing is my carrier supports over night 50gb bandwidth at cheap cost
Sometimes I need to download 200~1gb apps but it's so annoying that app won't start downloading until wifi network is available ,at least there should be an option where user agree's to select cellular data for these downloads

You'll have to make the suggestion to Apple: http://www.apple.com/feedback/

  • HT5858 IT WOULD BE REALLY HELPFULL IF CONTROL CENTER HAD A BUTTON TO TURN ON CELLULAR DATA. Could you(APPLE) please take this in consideration for the next update?

    What do you guys think?

Logically, because unlike you I do not keep my cellular data on at all times as I do not have an unlimited data plan. I only turn on cellular data when I am on the go and I do not have access to a wifi network. Therefore my need for a button in control center that turns on cellular data. And this would be very usefull to other iPhone users outside the US and Canada, where unlimited cellular data plans are not so affordable.

  • 5C users Watch your cellular data usage!!

This needs to be brought up just a friendly heads-up in the 5c forum, as there are already long-running threads on this topic in the iPhone 5 forum.
I have owned a 5c for a week now, and have it activated along side my wifes 4s under our 2G shared data plan.  So far in that time 5c has used 3~4x the amount of cellular data, despite my wife using her 4s FAR more frequently (for apps) than I do on my 5c.
I have managed to throttle my data usage with now a better understanding of the following:
-Apps will use cellular data, even while connected to a wifi network.  So merging onto a wifi DOES NOT AUTOMATICALLY PRIORITIZE it over the Verizon cellular data network.
-Closing out the app when finished does not stop it from using cellular data.  Many apps will still siphon cellular data, even though they are closed.... WITHOUT THE USER KNOWING IT.  Pay close attention to, and turn off cellular usage for those apps that don't need it.  Note you may have to manually re-activate cellular usage for the app when you use it outside wifi coverage.  This is a royal pain in the you know what.
-Deactivate notification center... or deactivate those parts of it you don't really need.  Personally I don't need any of it so I have it completely turned off.
-Turn off the "Background app Refresh" function.
    -Turn off "Location Services"
-In the "Mail, Contacts, Calendars" section turn off the Push function under "Fetch new data".  I have mine set to manual.
-Turn off LTE function.  The LTE part of the network is not even available to me where I live.  I found my phone was RAMPANTLY gobbling up cell data 24/7 and all hours of the night.  That data siphon stopped immediately when I turned off LTE.  Yes you are in essence using a slower cell network, but for me that doesn't matter since I am under a wifi network 99% of the time.  If I ever do need a fast cellular network I will have to manually turn on LTE.
As a final note, this is a SIGNIFICANT difference between the 4s and 5/5c/5s... and should be taken as a warning to anyone wanting to upgrade from the 4s to any of the "5" models.  My wifes 4s (on the latest iOS) does not require any of the actions above. Even with REGULAR use of her DOZENS of apps, her monthly data usage on the 4s has never exceeded ~1G over the past 2 years.  She never even turns them off, they are always open and minimized on her screen-top.
So in summary, turning off LTE has made a significant difference in my data usage (shown in kb), as shown below.

I am not sure about that, and even then I don't know if I would 100% blindly trust that.  Verizon will send you txrt messages when you approach your data ceiling for each billing period.  I downloaded the Nutec data monitor app.  I use it as a "polygraph" of sort to manually monitor data at the source (phone).  It has alerts set up for 50, 80, 100% warnings.

  • 3G Internet Really Slow

    Hello,
The 3G internet on my iPhone 5S is really slow and on occasion doesn't connect at all until I turn data off and then back on again (sometimes having to turn the phone off to get it to work) which is really annoying although the SIM card seems to work fine, any help would be appreciated.

Have you tried measuring the 3G speed? The free app speedtest.net is an accurate way to do it. Note that cellular data speeds are very sensitive to signal strength, and 3G itself isn't all that fast at its best. If it tests above 1Mb/sec that would be considered very good.
Usually speed issues are more network related than phone related.

created an account just to piggyback on YardleyFFL, I have the exact same issue with my latest-generation IPad/Verizon data plan & having to press my luck with the exact same type of fixes as he's outlined above except in the DC metro area. *** is going on with that, had I known that I would be costing myself dearly in LTE connectivity I would've resisted the ios6 update.
Maybe this is the wrong place to vent but the IPad's cellular connectivity is one of those perks that make it worth for me to pay a premium for Apple products vis a vis other tablet competitors. For the first 5-6 months I've been really impressed with the speed of the LTE connection to the point I was tempted to upgrade from the iPhone 4s to the latest model just for that capability.
But now I'm extremely weary as the rug seems to have been yanked out from under me here, not that the LTE connection has become any slower when I have the signal, but it's now its impossible to establish the 4g LTE connection in many places where I had four bars before the software update. Would love any answers or recommendations - fairly new to iDevices so maybe it's some mistaken setting I'm using, if so please advise - but otherwise it's left a very bad taste in my mouth, & I commend and co-sign with the poster above for raising the issue.

  • Photoshop CS6 won't launch and when it does it's really slow...help?

    Hi,
So my copy of Photoshop CS6 sometimes won't launch and when it does manage to launch fully, it's really slow. I mean ridiculously slow. The only times when I can get it to run even remotely quick is if I shut down my computer, and then restart it and then start up Photoshop CS6 as the first program. Even then it slows down after a while. (And I only have a firefox browser open usually, never more than a couple of tabs at once, so it's not a bandwidth issue)
    Here are my comp specs:
    Samsung
    Processor:
    AMD A6-3420M APU with
Radeon (Tm) HD graphics 1.50 ghz
    Installed Memory (RAM) - 4.00 (3.48 usable)
64 Bit operating System running on Windows 7 home premium, service pack 1
I also did just recently install the new update Adobe had for Photoshop, so that's up to date.
It's getting really frustrating! I have another program I'm using in the meantime (Paint tool Sai), but I'd really like to use Photoshop CS6.....
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Make sure you updated the drivers from AMD's website, not Microsoft.
Make sure you are running the 64 bit version of Photoshop, not 32 bit.
Disable all third party plugins, and try disabling system utilities (we've seen font managers, antivirus, disk backup software, etc. cause slowdowns due to bugs in those utilities).

  • How do you turn off cellular data on Ipad Air 2 with IOS 8.1.2

We have three new iPad Air 2s within the family. All have wi-fi capability but we are not needing to suscribe to it at this time, plan to use it on trips away from home. All of them get a popup message every 1-2 hours reminding to select a cellular plan. If it were only asking to select a cellular carrier I would understand, but when you do that it requires you to select a plan and add payment info for it. We are not ready to do that at this time. There is no "off" button on the cellular setting as there is on the iPhone. Is there a way to turn off the constant reminders to add a cellular plan?

There is no option to not sign up for the data plan.  I just returned from the Apple Genius Bar and my genius said the only way to stop the message now is to remove the SIM card, but be sure to keep it in a safe place for when I want to activate Cellular.  The change from the older iPads is that the pre-installed SIM is a generic one that will work with ATT, TMobile and Verizon.  In the past you selected your carrier when you purchased the iPad and their dedicated SIM card was installed.  I really dislike this solution, especially keeping up with the itsy bitsy SIM card and having it readily available when I need it.  I did try a temporary solution mentioned in another thread to tell Siri to turn off Cellular Data.  She will do it, but it resets when you reboot the iPad.  That is preferable to me than removing and keeping up with the SIM card.
