AppStore states OS X Lion is installed. But it isn't. It also says 'there was an error'. But there's no way to contintue install or re-install since it thinks Lion is already installed...? What to do?

There were some issues with the internet connection here, but last night it was downloading. I left it running like that and this morning it says 'Installed'. Without me doing anything? That's weird.
When I check 'About this Mac' it says 10.6.8.
The AppStore OS X Lion page states Lion is 'installed' so then there's about nothing more you can do there. I'm wondering what to do?
I'm abroad, so I can't reach the helpdesk in my own country and my french is not advanced enough to explain this kind of magic.
Any help would be appreciated..  thanks, kind regards,
Maarten

Ok, I'm stupid.
Found another thread about this and typing 'install OS X Lion' in spotlight did the job.

  • I keep having problems when I'm purchasing personalized books on iPhoto. A few days after ordering, I get an email saying there was an error when I ordered. I've checked and I've updated all the software on my computer. What can I do?

How do I contact Apple support or someone that can solve my problem?

Let me also copy and repeat -- since the developers' club apparently has chosen to not give it any weight or credibility -- a comment by a completely different user, in a different thread:
"I am using the 64-bit nightly, and it is FAR faster than any release in 32-bit, and I have 2GB of ram. Usually the addon compatibility thing takes minutes, when with the nightly 64-bit, I was done in a matter of seconds. also, I notice that it is faster, pages load faster, there is less lag, and it all around seems better than 32-bit in every aspect, even though it is just automatically compiled and not tweaked."
So, the developer's club position remains, "there really isn't much need for a 64-bit version", despite comments like that. Hmmm . . .
Are you SURE you want to stand directly behind that answer, while people shoot at it?

    Hi Paul
The current version of OS X is Snow Leopard (OS X 10.6) and you should be able to order an installation disk for your MacBook from the on line Apple Store.
Soon, a newer version of OS X (called Lion) is being released, but I don't think that it will run on a Core Duo because that particular processor is 32 bit only.

  • There was an error when I tried to install OS X Lion online. What can I do to fixed the problem?

There was an error when I tried to install OS X Lion after I purchased the os online. How do I fixed it?

Had the same problem.  All I did was click retry, (nothing happened at first so had a panic attack) so I checked my email and found I'd payed for Lion, also the Lion App in the app Store had gone back to the purchace price.  However after reaching for a brown paper bag to try and stop myself hyperventilating, Lion suddenly appeared and said it was installing.  33 minutes later it was up and running 'Job done'

    Hellooo Apple Community!
I'm trying to install iTunes on my computer running Windows 7 Home Premium. I'm not sure if iTunes is compatible with my computer operating system because when I try to install it, it says the installation is completed but it says there was an error so it won't let me get itunes! Can someone please tell me if iTunes can be downloaded and installed on "Windows 7 Home Premium" and if so, how?! I need iTunes asap, I have an iphone 4 running ios 6.1.3. Please get back to mee!!
    Thankyou thankyou thankyou!
    Natalie.

I just tried running the Lenovo Hard Drive Quick Test both in normal mode and in safe mode.  Both times it indicated a failed read test on the HDD. The last two tests also failed.  I forget what those tests were called.
I am really beginning to think I have a bad HDD and the problem just happens to be in the reserved partition where my factory system software resides.

  • Xcode 4.2 won't download (thinks it's already installed)

This is a follow up to my previous post, which I accidentally marked "correct answer" but isn't (and, apparently, Apple is not fixing up the undo-correct bug).
So, Xcode 4.1 won't install because it thinks it's already installed and now, when I decided to give up on 4.1 and go to 4.2, I can't even download it.  The app store also says it's already installed.  At least with 4.1 I had tried to install it - and think maybe it's there somewhere but I can't find it (and, now that I've uninstalled 4.0, I wonder if I also uninstalled 4.1 in the process since I used a shell command).  I didn't even download 4.2 much less install it and, if I understand correctly, I should be able to install it, even if I did have 4.0, 4.1 or whatever that existed previously.
    Any help?
    Thanks!

    Question to you ...
I just downloaded and installed Xcode 4.2.1 from the App Store.  The purpose was to enable my engineering software to have access to the C compiler.  After the installation, my engineering software found and invoked the downloaded compiler appropriately.
However, like a number of other folks, I found that I need to have Xcode 4.1.   Reading various threads it seems that many advise completely uninstalling 4.2.1 first before attempting to install 4.1.
I note that you successfully used:      "sudo /Developer/Library/uninstall-devtools -mode=all"  to remove Xcode 4.2      However, this does not work for me.   From my terminal I don't find a /Developer   directory or folder.   If I go to /Library I don't see /Developer there either.   In fact, I cannot find any "Developer" or "Xcode" folder anywhere, just the "Install Xcode" application.     On the other hand, my engineering sofware still "sees" and uses the Xcode compiler ... so it is here, somewhere.
Would you have any suggestions regarding how to expunge the Xcode 4.2.1?
    Thanks much for your thoughts

when installing iTunes on my new laptop a message box appears saying some sort of error has occured and i have to uninstall it then reinstall it again and it still won't work what should i do?

Let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.
Does it install properly for you? If so, does iTunes launch properly now?
If instead you get an error message during the install, let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

  • Trying to install Pages - paid for - but App Store tells me "There was an error in the App Store. Please try again later."

When I bought my Macbook Pro on Thursday I also purchased Pages whilst in the Apple store in town. The assistant helped me start the installation whilst I was there and he told me that it would continue when I got home, even if i shut the laptop down there. So this is what I did, however, since I've been home, every time I click Install on Pages in the App Store a message comes up saying : "There was an error in the App Store. Please try again later."
Another thing I should mention is that I purchased Pages on a different Apple ID account when I was in the store, but I was told I only had to log in to that account from my Macbook Pro and I could easily download Pages.

    Simple solution:
Go back to the apple store and say that you couldn't download pages
Or you can let me remotely control your screen which I'm sure your not going to do the reason that I would control your screen was because I have bought iWork 09 and I could install pages on your MBP using my apple id

  • My existing purchases have INSTALL next to them, but when I try click on them it says "There was an error in the App Store. Please try again later. (100)". I've tried restarting, clearing all caches, buying and downloading new apps (which works). Any idea

    Hi - in the app store, I've logged in with no problem, but when I go into my existing purchases and have INSTALL next to everything I've bought, and try to click on them it says;
"There was an error in the App Store. Please try again later. (100)".
I've tried restarting, clearing all caches, buying and downloading new apps (which works), and also buying and downloading more music from iTunes too (so I update all T&C's etc too, and update all payment info). But nothing seems to solve this. Any ideas?? Thanks a lot, Greg

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It makes no changes to your data.
Please triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    ls -@Oaen L*/Coo* | pbcopy
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window by pressing the key combination command-V. I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, you may have to press the return key after pasting.
Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign ($) to appear below what you entered.
The output of the command will be automatically copied to the Clipboard. If the command produced no output, the Clipboard will be empty. Paste into a reply to this message.
The Terminal window doesn't show the output. Please don't copy anything from there.

Eduardo Alejandro Lazo what specific error do you receive when trying to apply the update?
I would also recommend checking the installation logs for the updates you are attempting to apply for errors.  You can find details on how to locate and interpret the installation log files at Troubleshoot with install logs | CS5, CS5.5, CS6 - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/troubleshoot-install-logs-cs5-cs5.html.  You are welcome to post any specific errors you discover to this discussion.
