  • 10.9.2 gmail sync issue

Like many, I have been waiting for 10.9.2 to cure issues with the Mavericks Mail app when using gmail. Unfortunately, the sync issue has not changed.
Sometimes the Mail app will sync with gmail, but many times I have to close and restart the Mail app to get new email.
Why is it taking so long AFTER the OS release to discover and correct a fundamental bug in a fundamental app within an OS?

To rebuild you go to the Mail pulldown menu.   Mail ->  Mailbox -> Rebuild.   I believe the rebuild will only apply to the account associated with the inbox highlighted at the time the rebuild is done.
You can also try removing an account and recreating it, but I would try rebuilding first and see if that does it.
It looks like Don P. above also had his problems fixed by upgrading to 10.9.3, so I am hoping this does it for you!
I should note that Mac mail has frequently been slow finding new mail on my work Exchange server.   This preceeded 10.9.3 for as long as we had the Exchange server at work and continues with it.   The problem I had that was fixed by 10.9.3 was that every day or two Apple Mail would completely stop syncing to a Gmail account (I have two and the stoppages seemed uncorrelated).  In order to get the syncing to restart, I had to fully quit and restart mail.
    Good luck!

  • OS Update 10.9.1 did NOT fix Gmail syncing issues with Apple Mail App?

Is it just me? Or is anyone else having the same issues of gmail still NOT syncing accross iPad and Mac Mail app in spite of the "update/fix" to OS? My mail on my three Macs and one iPad are still never synced corrctly. When I try "syncronize all mail boxes" in the mail app of the mac, it does not work.
I look directly at my Gmail online thorugh Safari on the Google site and see I have 2 emails in my IN box. Yet on one Mac it has 15 (13 of ehcih were deleted several hours ago). On another Mac it has 18. On the iPad it has it right as that is where I begain looking at end editing email today.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!
    Mike

  • Google Mail (Gmail) Sync Issues

After I put my computer into sleep, then wake it up, Mail stops syncing or retrieving new mail from Gmail server. Am I the only one who's having this problem? I tried deleting the account and logging in again, but it didn't change anything.
    Any solutions? Thank you!

FWIW, this problem happens for me in Mavericks (10.9.5) too. It seemed like there was a point release or two where the problem seemed fixed, but it's definitely back in 10.9.5. I had hoped that Yosemite would address the issue. (I'm waiting a while until upgrading my main Mac.) The easiest solution that works for me is to quit Mail and open it again.
Out of curiosity, do you switch between Ethernet and Wi-Fi networks often while Mail is open? One of my unfounded speculations is that the frequent network switching I do "breaks" Mail's IMAP updates with Gmail. It'd be great if someone with more time than me logged the IMAP transactions between Mail and Gmail to see if this issue is a Mail or Gmail issue because iCloud IMAP (Oracle) seems to update fine…
    Thanks!

  • Gmail Sync Issue: Incoming Emails

I'm experiencing an issue with my gmail account syncing incoming emails in the email app.  The yellow 'alert' triangle of death has appeared since 2/24/10, when I last received emails on 2/24/10.  However, outgoing emails appear to successfully send.  I've twice now deleted my gmail account and re-added it in hopes of fixing this problem.    Anyone else experiencing this?  Any suggested fixes please?
Thanks and Happy Friday.  Hopefully the 1.4.0 Update will arrive soon and magically cure my gmail ailment.

I'm having the same problem. It also won't sync when I delete emails in Gmail or on my iPhone - they still show up in Mail.

  • Updating and syncing issues from iPhone to iPad

I have two issues.  I just got new iPhone and after creating an iCloud account all my contacts will only appears numbers on my phone (no names attached to the contacts) and now that updated my iPad to io5 nothing will sync with my iPhone. I checked my settings and wifi is on as well as photo stream is on.  I'm so confused!

Assuming you are using the same AppleId on both devices (Settings App > iTunes & App stores), you should be able to open the itunes app, select Purchased from the lower menu and download any items you have purchased on the account.

  • Gmail Sync Issue

I have successfully synced my Google Calendar with both iCal and iOS Calendar. I have also synced my IMAP Gmail between my computers and iPad. The problem I have is that when I use Apple's Mail application to send a message, I can't see that message when I access Gmail via Web access. Am I doing something wrong, or is this just not possible?
The problem arises because my college only allows on-campus access to our Gmail accounts via Web Access in order to minimize security issues. So, I can't use Apple Mail from my campus iMac to access my Gmail accounts. But when I go home, I would like to use Apple Mail to work with both my personal and work email accounts.
    Thanks for the help!

  • Address book not updating/odd sync issues

I've been fighting with this for about a week now. We are looking to simply have a shared address book for our office. We have one windows XP machine, but we aren't even worried about that at this point. He's actually on a macbook pro, so we'll likely end up running him on parallels eventually. Other then that, its strictly macs with the most up to date versions of the OS. I figured from the literature, it'd be a matter of creating an address book on the server and hitting "share", but reading around, it seems I'm not the only one having issues.
I set up our iCal by creating a user and set up our calendar. I was able to use the "delegation" tab under the accounts preferences to allow all the users in our office to view and edit the calendar. It's a little clunky, but overall not terrible. It works great. Updates come within 10 seconds to everyone.
I figured Address Book would be the same setup, but no such luck. I did the same process, but there isn't an option to delegate. We have three groups of contacts in our Address Book. Customers, Suppliers, and Employees. When I got it all up, one computer would get one group, another's wouldn't' get anything, and someone else might get two of them. If anyone edited anything, no one else got it. Where am I going wrong here?

    O.K. I think I know what's wrong - - although I don't know how to fix it.
When I look under Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars, I have two accounts:
a 'MobileMe' account, that has Mail, Contacts, Calendars and Bookmarks listed underneath it in smaller font, and a second account, named 'office', which has only Mail listed underneath.
When I'm syncing, I'm successfully getting any new emails (from my 'office' account on my MacBook Pro), but no new Contacts, etc., are coming across.
I seem to be locked into this mobileme account, which isn't working right. I did check mobileme's 'cloud' page (if that's how you describe it), and my newly added Contacts are there sure enough. They just don't get copied across when I sync.
Is there a way to sync without using mobileme? Or changing my mobileme account so my default account gets new Contacts as well as new mail?
    Thanks, malcolm

  • Still gmail sync issues

Still having 2 issues after 10.9.1. 1) It's slow to sync after sleep and 2) occassionally I'm missing a message until I close the mail app and reopen it.  Any ideas on what gmail settings might be troublesome? I don't want to show All Mail.

  • 10.6.6 update and syncing issues in iTunes with iPhone 4 and Apple TV

After installing the recent OSX 10.6.6 update, I am receiving the following error messages in iTunes 10.1.1 when trying to sync both my iPhone 4 (iOS v4.2.1) and my 1st generation Apple TV (OS v3.0.2):
    iPhone error message:
"The iPhone cannot be synced. The disk could not be read from or written to."
    Apple TV error message:
"iTunes cannot sync photos to the Apple TV because of a problem on your computer. The disk could not be read from or written to."
I'm not sure if this matters - but in the iPhone error message - it does not state if the "disk" is the iPhone or the computer - but in the Apple TV error message it does make this distinction, saying that the problem is on my computer and specifically mentions photos.
Now, once I dismiss either of the error messages, the sync progresses normally and completes successfully. Also, I have checked my computer (MacPro) and all diagnostics (including the internal hard drives) pass with flying colors. And the computer is working fine otherwise - so I have no reason to believe that there is a hardware problem with the computer. And I would find it very strange that I would have a hardware problem with both my iPhone and Apple TV appearing at the exact same time. And finally, both the iPhone and Apple TV are performing normally when in use.
Since this problem did not start until after running the 10.6.6 update - logic tells me that is where the problem probably lies.... the question is how to resolve it - anyone have any ideas?

FYI: I received the following answer to this same question which I had posted in a different area of the forum and it solved my problem:
+Both those symptoms are consistent with a damaged photo cache. If you remove your existing photo cache as per the instructions in the following document, does that get you past the error?+

  • New Computer - Updated iPod - Syncing Issues

    Greetings!
I bought a new computer in January. At that time, I transferred my songs over to my new computer from my old computer using a cross over cable. At that point, both of my iTunes libraries were the same.
Since then I downloaded more songs and updated songs in the library, so I decided to finally sync my iPod classic to the new computer. I knew that I would have to restore the iPod, but since the libraries were the same, there should be no problem, right? Wrong!
Before erasing the iPod and syncing the songs, I stupidly decided to upgrade the software for the iPod (which I haven't done since I got it, due to reading related problems on here). So that goes fine and erase the iPod. Now on to syncing the library.
All the songs sync perfectly. The problem is with my video files. I had these movies on my iPod before I updated and erased the iPod. But now, iTunes says that the files are incompatible! I do not understand since they worked perfectly fine before! What happened?
According to iTunes they are MPEG-4 video files. The movies were made specifically for an iPod, so I do not understand what is going on. I figure that it might be due to the upgrading I did, but when I restore the iPod it always comes back with the same version (since there was no previous version on the new computer).
Is there a way I can fix the MPEG-4 problem or download and install the previous versions of the iPod software since iTunes does not give me an option? Should I try going back to previous version on my older computer (will this even work)? Mainly I would like to know why the MPEG-4 file that worked perfectly before is giving me problems and if it can be fixed.
    Thank you!
    (a frustrated) Lindsay

2/Downloaded 3rd party software to sync and install library from ipod touch into itunes on new computer.
You should have just copied \Music\iTunes\ folder from the old computer to the new computer.
but I can't get all of my applications and some bought items to appear on ipod
Connect thr iPod touch and select it in iTunes.
Click the Applications tab across the top.
Tick the apps you want to install onto the touch.

  • Updates and syncing issues with iPhone 4 and MacBook

Tried to sync my iPhone 4 to computer, says "could not be synced because the sync session failed to start." I have a MacBook with OS X 10.6.8; iTunes update 11.1.3; and iPhone IOS 7.0.4. Can someone please give me some direction?

    Hi bikeski1234,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
As a first step, I would suggest quitting your open apps:
iOS: Force an app to close
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5137
    Then sign out of iTunes:
iOS: Changing the signed-in iTunes Store Apple ID account
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1311?viewlocale=en_US
    Restart and/or reset the device:
iOS: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1430
    Then try syncing again …
    Cheers,

  • Gmail Syncing Issues

Outlook cannot find the server. Verify the server information is entered correctly in the Account Settings, and that your DNS settings in the Network pane of System Preferences are correct.
I keep on getting this error. I have checkedmy settings and cannot get this removed?
Is this perhaps due to internet connectivity issues?

  • Homesharing, updating and syncing issues.

    Me: iPhone 4
    Older Macbook OS 10.4.11
    iTunes 9.2.1
    Husband: iPhone 3GS
<1 year old Windows Vista PC
    iTunes 10.0.1
1 iTunes account between the 2 of us.
I recently upgraded from iPhone 3G to iPhone 4 but found out that the 4 is not compatible with the operating system on my older Macbook. I have been confused for awhile now on homesharing and being able to sync my new iPhone. When I purchased it, i was able to get most information over from the Macbook to the PC sharing iTunes but i ended up losing quite a few songs and multiple contacts, luckily no apps or photos. I have not synced since the initial purchase.
So until I purchased the 4, I used the Macbook with my 3G and my husband used his 3GS with homesharing on the PC. My question is, how can I sync my apps, music and information as well as get the iPhone 4 upgrades by sharing the same iTunes library as before. I'm scared of losing my contacts and music and photos, I also do not want to sync his information with mine or vice versa.
Thanks in advance, I am just so confused by this!
