APs reboot due to high number of clients per radio

Hi,
Has anyone problems with accesspoints reboots at high client count (50+ associations per radio)
We have a 5508 WLC with 7.3 Code and 3600 AP´s.
Our problem is that sometimes accesspoints reboots. And this only if a lot of clients are connected.
Many thanks in advance for your help

I don´t know the reason why the ap reboot. This is the problem. We monitor the Ap with nagios and we see that the ap is offine for a few minutes. So I believe the ap reboot.
We found no logs on the wlc for the reason.
The problem area is a congress center a so sometimes we have really a lot of users. (like a Cisco Networkers)
We have all the typical problems at high density WLAN. (a lot of Rouge Ap´s, high channel  utilization, interference …)
But could that the reason why a accesspoint reboot?

What is the recommended number of clients per Mac server? Also what are some recommended specs when purchasing an Apple machine that will have Mac OS X server installed? We have around 300 clients that need to be enroled on the Mac server. I want to know what is the recommended amount of clients a Mac server should contain. Also what are some recommended specs to make sure the server will flawlessly?

    Hello cpreasbeck,
Thank you for contacting Apple Support Communities.
I was able to find the following transition guide for Xserve that provides some workload guidance to determine performance when planning a server deployment.
    Transition Guide Xserve
    http://images.apple.com/xserve/pdf/L422277A_Xserve_Guide.pdf
On page 9, Performance there is a chart that provides maximum numbers of connected users for various activities such as file sharing, mail, web, calendar, directory services and Time Machine and the CPU used as a server (Xserve, Mac Pro, Mac Mini). This information is a bit dated as the referenced software is Snow Leopard Server (OS X 10.6), and the hardware is older also, but it should give you a general idea of what you might need to look for.

  • How do I Limit the number of Clients Per AP, Per Radio

    I'm have WCS, 2 - WLC4404, 1 - WLC4402 and 1 WISM (6509). All running 7.X OS.
Here is my problem I have 4 3502 AP,s in the hall, but the laptops all connect to one AP. 2 Clients on A and 26 Clients on G.
    How do I control this?
    Mike

If you want to limit the number of clients PER AP then this is a feature that has been identified and will be available in the next few version.
You can, however, limit the number of clients and default is set to 12.

  • Maximum number of clients per Extreme?

Forgetting about bandwidth usage, what is the maximum number of clients (Macbook, iPad/iPhone,) that connect to an AirPort Extreme at the same time?

I think you may be asking about WDS, which would kill the performance of the network.
If you need to connect 120 wireless devices (you don't tell us if computers will connect using wireless or ethernet), the only practical setup would be to connect each of the 3 AirPort Extremes together using ethernet cabling.
I would urge you to work with an IT professional to make sure that the system will do what you want. The AirPort Extreme is designed for home use. It can work in a situation such as yours, but your IT pro will have other suggestions. You would do well to listen to him.

  • No of client supported per radio on Cisco Access Points?

    Hi Experts,
Is their any documentation that lists out the number of clients that can be handled efficiently per radio against a particular model of access points?
The question might appear quite ambiguos considering the fact that the wireless communication works on the principal of air time and shared medium. However still curious to know if latest model of access points make the enhancement any better.
Learnt quite some time back that 1262 WAP supports 15 clients per radio while 3700 would easily do with over 128 client per radio. Not sure on what basis we distinguish this?
Appreciate if someone could share their knowledge on same. Would be grateful if we a pointer to any doc is shown as well giving the comparision.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Adnan

    Hello Scott,
    Glad to see your response.
Does this rule of thumb(of 25 APs per radio) applies to all the access points models?
Little confused from document( http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/wireless/buyers-guide.html#~indoor ) which lists different client count values against different models. Suppose we are having 600 series of WAP, the doc says it has client count value of 15. So I made my own conclusion that only 15 clients active association is possible at any given instant in time and if the 16th client tries association, it will fail and would be able to succeed only when the already associated client count goes a little under 15.
Can you please throw some light on the document claims?
    Thanks,
    Muhammed Adnan

Please help ASAP, as this is effecting our testing team.  I have tried to copy individual tables also using a transport request number and SCC1 to copy it to the target client.  This is also taking quite a long time.
    Thanks in advance,
    Abdul

    Hi Abdul,
What does your system log say ?
    Check this SAP Note
Note 579783 - CC ERROR: Loss of data - table not copied
run the report RSCC_VERIFY to check if the table is consistent within the source client.
SAP will only provide support for RSCC_VERIFY messages if there is a specific problem in an application in the target client that can be assigned immediately to the messages.
RSCC_VERIFY is delivered with SAPKB46B49, SAPKB46C35 and SAPKB46D24. In older releases, you can create the report in the ABAP editor (transaction SE38) in accordance with the attached advance correction. Use the development class or the STRM package for this.

    Alex,
I'm working with a client that has a similar issue.  They have a 4402 and about 30 APs.  The FCS counters on all of the APs are growing at a fast pace (millions a day).  I've opened a TAC case to try and determine if the errors I'm seeing are "normal" (within an acceptable range).  The impression I have, thus far, is that it is not acceptable.  Since the users are not happy with the performance of the applications which rely on the wireless network, we've decided to pursue this further.   They had me dumb down the APs by making a few basic changes to the wlan and that did not reduce the rate of errors.  Now they're focusing on transmit levels.  The client only uses wireless from some thin clients and TAC wants me to find out what the max. transmit power level is for these thin clients.  Wireless is not my cup of tea so I'm not going to try and get into a technical discussion.  I'll only pass along what TAC is telling me (as I understand it).  The APs can transmit at one of 8 power levels.  Each power level is 1/2 the power level of the level above it.  For example, PL1 would be 100 milliwatts, PL2 would be 50 milliwatts, PL3 is 25, etc.  In any case, suppose that you have a device that has a maximum transmit power level of 30 milliwatts and your APs are set to transmit at 50 milliwatts.  What will happen is that as the client devices get further and further out towards the edge of their transmission range, they will still be able to pick up signal from an AP but the AP will no longer be able to pick up signal from the client device.  So, the client device will try to send data to the AP but the data will arrive at the AP with errors.  In trying to explain this to me, they used voice as an example.  They talked about how in wireless environments in which wireless IP phones exist, sometimes the phones will have a transmit level of about 30 milliwatts and what will happen is that users will experience 1-way audio issues because the stronger signal from the WAP will reach the phone but the phone signal will not reach the WAP.  So as a phone user starts to roam further from the WAP, the user will still hear the caller on the other end but the caller on the other end will not hear the wireless phone user.  As I understand it, the solution to that would be to reduce the transmit power on the APs to be more inline with the maximum transmit power of the lowest common denominator device on the network.  The downside to that, though, would be more holes in coverage.  You'd probably find yourself in a position where you'd have to deploy more APs to fill in the holes.  At least that's the gist I'm getting from the discussion I had with TAC on Friday.   In any case, if we end up doing somethnig that reduces the error rates I'll let you know what we end up doing.
    Regards,
    Steven

  • UPGRADING WITH A PERFECT BATTERY BUT WITH HIGHER NUMBER OF CELLS

i m using HP PAVILION DV5 1104-TU ENTERTAINMENT NOTEBOOK PC since 4years, recently its motherboard got crashed so after a wrong reply ,finally i got the motherboard from ebay which was perfectly apposite for my model, now its battery is not giving backup so i wanna buy a new battery but with 12cells or even more for extra backup, my battery's part no is 484170-001,my laptop screen is 15.4", 2gb ram, intel core 2duo, i wanna buy it from ebay but please provide the right battery which will fit with ease, as in my earlier post for motherboard the first reply was for a wrong motherboard as they s, do provide some ebay links for the higher number of cells if possible plus if i get to know about hours of backup

Yes, it will sit a little higher in the back due to the thicker battery.  This will not harm the notebook.  Generally speaking, an extended cell battery will cost significantly more than a standard battery.  Think of the extended cell battery as a V8 and the standard battery as V4.  The V8 is bigger and costs more than the V4.  The one I linked to on eBay was about half of what the battery is from HP directly.  Anthony82 provided a battery as well, but it's a non-OEM battery which typically means it's not an actual HP battery (think third party).  LIke the one Anthony82 provided, I don't see any indication that the battery in the expert's link is a genuine HP battery.  This might account for why is is significantly less as I don't see how a genuine HP battery can cost $20-$35 USD as I would imagine it costs more than that to make it.
To answer your question, the one the expert gave you does mention your specific notebook model.  If it doesn't work, then that falls on the eBay seller.
You have many options to choose from, so choose the one that you are most comfortable with.  If you want to look for a genuine HP part, you can look for HP part number  KS526AA.
Let me know if this answered your question.

  • 1252 - Max Number of Clients

I have customer that is looking at deploying 1252 access points. I was wondering what the maximum number of clients that can associate to a single 1252. Does this count differ between 1252s running autonomous and LWAPP? The proposed configuration is using B/G radios at 54Mbps but quoting the A/B/G model for future 802.11n deployment (5Ghz radios would be turned off for now).
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
    Thx
    Joe

Its not as simple as the max number of clients but you also have to consider the type of client. Also food RF deisign and survey are critical to maximising client throughput.
There are rules for existing aps of approx 20-25 max for data. This would be 7 for voice in mixed mode b/g or 14 for g only and 20 for a only.
The ap can theoretically support many more clients, I think the figure is 256. With very simplistic data transfer such as bar code scanning I have seen as may as 50 clients with no issues.
As you ar lookig at abg these figures seem realistic.
With 802.11n you hav more bandwith available, better utilisation of the spectrum and therefore more client but its about being realistic and looking at what you are trying to connect.
Streaming multimedia would be lower than data only. Data only I would say 50 clients no issues but thats quite a density considering the RF footprint. For voice you are stuck with the above figures as you are still only dealing with abg clients.
    Hope that helps

  • WLI problem when processing a high number of records - SQLException: Data e

    Hi
I'm having some trouble with a process in WLI when processing a high number of records from a table. I'm using WLI 8.1.6 and Oracle 9.2.
    The exception I'm getting is:
javax.ejb.EJBException: nested exception is: java.sql.SQLException: Data exception -- Data -- Input Data length 1.050.060 is greater from the length 1.048.576 specified in create table.
I think the problem is not with the table because it's pretty simple. I'll describe the steps in the JPD below.
    1) A DBControl checks to see if the table has records with a specific value in a column.
    select IND_PROCESSADO from VW_EAI_INET_ESTOQUE where IND_PROCESSADO = 'N'
    2) If there is one or more records, we update the column to another value (in other DBControl)
    update VW_EAI_INET_ESTOQUE  set IND_PROCESSADO = 'E' where IND_PROCESSADO = 'N'
    3) We then start a transaction with following steps:
3.1) A DBControl queries for records in a specific condition
    select
    COD_DEPOSITO AS codDeposito,
    COD_SKU_INTERNO AS codSkuInterno,
    QTD_ESTOQUE AS qtdEstoque,
    IND_ESTOQUE_VIRTUAL AS indEstoqueVirtual,
    IND_PRE_VENDA AS indPreVenda,
    QTD_DIAS_ENTREGA AS qtdDiasEntrega,
    DAT_EXPEDICAO_PRE_VENDA AS dataExpedicaoPreVenda,
    DAT_INICIO AS dataInicio,
    DAT_FIM AS dataFim,
    IND_PROCESSADO AS indProcessado
    from VW_EAI_INET_ESTOQUE
    where IND_PROCESSADO = 'E'
3.2) We transform all the records found to and XML message (Xquery)
3.3) We update again update the same column as #2 to other value.
    update VW_EAI_INET_ESTOQUE set  IND_PROCESSADO = 'S'   where IND_PROCESSADO = 'E'.
    4) The process ends.
When the table has few records under the specified condition, the process works fine. But if we test it with 25000 records, the process fails with the exception below. Sometimes in the step 3.1 and other times in the step 3.3.
    Can someone help me please?

    Hi Lucas,
Following is the information regarding the issue you are getting and might help you to resolve the issue.
ADAPT00519195- Too many selected values (LOV0001) - Select Query Result operand
For XIR2 Fixed Details-Rejected as this is by design
I have found that this is a limitation by design and when the values exceed 18000 we get this error in BO.
There is no fix for this issue, as itu2019s by design. The product always behaved in this manner.
Also an ER (ADAPT00754295) for this issue has already been raised.
Unfortunately, we cannot confirm if and when this Enhancement Request will be taken on by the developers.
A dedicated team reviews all ERs on a regular basis for technical and commercial feasibility and whether or not the functionality is consistent with our product direction. Unfortunately we cannot presently advise on a timeframe for the inclusion of any ER to our product suite.
The product group will then review the request and determine whether or not the functionality/feature will be included in a future release.
Currently I can only suggest that you check the release notes in the ReadMe documents of future service packs, as it will be listed there once the ER has been included
The only workaround which I can suggest for now is:
    Workaround 1:
Test the issue by keep the value of MAX_Inlist_values parameter to 256 on designer level.
    Workaround 2:
The best solution is to combine 'n' queries via a UNION. You should first highlight the first 99 or so entries from the LOV list box and then combine this query with a second one that selects the remaining LOV choices.
Using UNION between queries; which is the only possible workaround
Please do let me know if you have any queries related to the same.

  • WLSE and Number of client associations

    Hello,
I have the WLSE appliance to manage some AP1100 (AIR-AP1121G-E-K9).
When I try to list the Number of Clients Connected to the AP's, this number is negative.
This is because the WLSE 2.5 don't have support for 802.11g AP's or could be because some other problem?
    Thanks by your help,
    Nuno.

    1) If you're using WLSE 2.5, the it does not support "g" radios currently. Up coming release will support this.
    2) As for the negative client issue, this is also due to a IOS bug on the AP itself, not an issue with WLSE. It will also be fixed in the upcoming IOS version.

I'm storing the data to an RT FIFO (waveform dbl array type) and using TCP to send this to the host computer where I want to display in a graph. The vi on the target computer runs fine without any connection to the host computer. When the vi on the host computer starts up, however, problems start to happen.
The host computer gets the data from the target very slowly. It takes about 5 seconds for TCP Read to read the byte size. The byte size is about 600kb. After the byte size is read the rt engine mysteriously restarts and displays the message above. My system works fine if I change all the waveform dbl array types to DBL Array. The reason I want a waveform type is because the host computer is not getting enough data with the DBL Array. For example, instead of getting a steady, straight line in the graph, I get a line jumping from 0 to the value it's supposed to be over and over.
I'm using vis similar to the vis created by the RT Communication wizard for both the target and host communication.

    hi Kristi,
    thanks for responding.
I'm using Labview 7.1 Real-time on a dell gpx 270 on a LAN (gigabit connection) using static IPs. I'm currently doing continuous analog acquisition on multiple channels (24 total). I have a normal priority loop managing the TCP connection, a time-critical loop within that acquiring data. On the host computer (another dell) I have all normal priority vis. I have 1 VI that contains 2 vis in it- a vi that handles the GUI and a vi that handles the TCP.
I gave up on using waveforms so i'm getting the y-component out of the 1D-waveform that i get from the daqmx vi and putting that into a 1D dbl array and storing it in an rt-fifo. By the upload, hopefully, you can see what i'm talking about. Without using waveforms the rt target does not reboot, but i still get jitter. The host computer (with the gui) seems to be reading an empty fifo more times than it has data. When I put a 100ms wait in the TCP loop on the host computer, I get the data slower, but no jitter. I don't know anything about timing so I'm guessing that's my major problem. Am I supposed to put waits inside of various loops?? I varied my time-critical loop wait time from 1ms to 3ms to see if anything would change, but no changes.
On a side note I will be acquiring data from a total of 13 6143 PCI boards from 5 different PCs when this is all done.
