AR - Applying Payments - Any faster methods?

Question

Hello FI gurus,
I was approached by one of our A/R clerks, and asked whether there was a way for putting in all payments received from customers, say on any day, into the system in one shot,  so that the management can see the cash received immediately, rather than having to wait for the A/R clerk to manually apply the payments line by line to each invoice of the paying customers which is typically a time consuming process.
Would greatly appreciate a reply...
By the way we are still on version 46C.

Hi,
It epends on how are you booking the payments in SAP.
If it is via check deposit, you can use FF68 to enter the document reference while making the check deposits. It will then clear the customer line.
If the payment is coming via direct debit in APP (F110), then it will clear off the customer automatically.
For manual payment receipt, you can post the payment with reference to an open item.
For all other payments, you need to create a custom program to match the payment document againest the invoice, which can be run on the periodic basis via a batch job.
(Also see whether the document of invoice and payment document can be linked on consistent basis to make the total zero. In that case you can use the automatic clearing program in F.13)
