Converting straight line to neat curve (arc ) in Visio 2013

hi friends
i am new to visio .
i was watching a visio training video from youtube & i saw that the guy drew two straight lines & then when hover the mouse on these lines, at the middle of each line, a handle (connection point) ( if i don't mistake) was appeared & then the
guy simply click on the handle (point) & pull it out & so created a neat curve (arc).
but in visio 2013, when i draw two lines, i don't see any of those point on my lines so that i pull them out ( drag them) to create a neat curve.
has this ability removed in Visio 2013?
to clarify, i paste the screenshots from that video training:
look at the point which i have selected them with a red line around it. where are these in visio 2013 ?
i even selected all checkmarks in view menu , visual Aids, but again they don't appear on simple lines

I use a inexpensive plug in to join open paths from dxf dwg files it is call Concatenate by Rick Johnson if the paths are not connected this will do it for you.
Then you can go to Object>Path>Simplify
That will probably give you the result you need.

Is there or will there be a way to draw accurate measured lines and curves in Line?

I am very excited about the new Line app and Ink & Slider; however it would be far more useful for me and many others to be able to measure line length, angles, curves, radii, etc. Will this function be introduced in the future? This functionality would be a great addition for technical drawing on iPad to Illustrator.

I primarily draft custom garments & sewing patterns where, the need for accuracy down to at the very least 1/16th inch or .25 mm is critical, and also textile & interior design. Within all of these disciplines, Line & Slider looks like it has the potential to be THE mobile application we've been waiting for, enabling accurate drafting on the go and making fine adjustments when back at Illustrator. Given the restrictions of the iPad, it would be feasible to work in both imperial and metric scales from ¼:1 to 1:1 at a minimum. Accurate line length and measuring distance between straight/angled lines, the ability to measure the length of curves drawn with the french curves or freehand are also desirable for accurate drafting.
The ability to import/export files in order of priority: .ai; .psd, .pdf, .eps, .svg would make workflow between desktop and iPad ideal. Most of us work in layers, so their portability is a must. It would be great if Adobe CC desktop and mobile apps plans to take advantage of the "Hand-Off" feature announced for the upcoming release of iOS 8.
I realize there are limitations and that we are not going to get a full fledged CAD/illustrator iPad version, but without being able to draft accurately the app as it stands now is useful only for conceptual drawings - but the potential is there for it to be so much more.
Exporting to Dropbox and other cloud-based services in addition to CC would be a great addition as well.
As Tracey mentioned, if any of these features already exist and I've missed them please let me know.

Pdf measurements in Metadata panel

Hello,
for some reason the measurements of a pdf file are shown incorrectly in the Bridge Metadata panel.
It would be a good place to check the size of an ad, but it does not show the measurements right.

Thanks for that. I did as you suggested, but my current libary has only recent images all from one camera, which doesn't produce RAW fles, the Ricoh CX4. I will go back to an earlier library where I have several cameras involved included two whose raw files are processed by Aperture, and i'll bet I'll see the 35mm equivalent.
Is there any way I can tell Aperture the formula for my CX4 lens such as that its minimum focal length of 4.9mm is equivalent to 28mm on a 35mm camera?
In any case, I am happy to know what you just told me, because I will be using Aperture to process images from two other cameras it does recognize. By 'recognize' I mean it will process their raw files.

Curving / Arcing stars

Hi all, I wondered if you could help me with a problem - I'm sure it's really simple but I can't figure out a way to do it.
Ihave a logo created by someone I work with, it looks great but it needs tidying up. Now as you can see the outline is a 10 point star which has been curved, now I need to re-create this but make each point curved and exactly the same, so it mirrors itself. But I can't do it.
I can draw a star and use curced edges but that doesn't work - abnd I don'\t want to curve each point as they won't be identical.
Can anyone solve this little puzzle for me?

Draw one side of one point, curved as you want it but a bit longer on the inside than it needs to be.
Reflect-copy it and join the ends to make one whole symmetrical point.
Give it a fill colour.
Mark the geometrical centre of your star (I often do this with 2 intersecting ruler guides).
With the Rotate tool rotate-copy your star point with the rotation origin on the intersection of the guides. For ten points this will be 36°.
Join everything up, probably using Pathfinder Unite, release compound path and Unite again.

Trying to measure the degree of arc of two points

I am trying to compute the degree of a mouse down and a mouse up, in order to rotate a rectangle.
I always start rotation in the bottom right corner.
I can get a trivial example to work as follows with vector2d:
Vector2d start = new Vector2d( 400, 0 ); // x is 400, y is 0
Vector2d current = new Vector2d( 0, 400 ); // x is 0, y is 400
double angle = start.angle( current );
double degrees = Math.toDegrees( angle );
System.out.println( degrees ); // result is 90 degrees
The problem is that my coordinates are not relative to the center of the rectangle but to the drawing area.
So for example with this:
Start X 1066
Start Y 334
Current X 886
Current Y506
I get angle as 12.33. However this is actually also a 90 degree angle.
I reckon I just need a translation but I am not sure.
Any ideas?

I suspect that is the correct source code, I do not have the source handy, I found that on the web.
I am moving the mouse to what I believe lies halfway between two quadrants and so I would expect all of these angles to be 45 in their respective quadrants, or going clockwise 315 degrees, 45 degrees, 135 degrees, 255 degrees.

Cannot open pdf attachment on Curve 9360

Hi,
I cannot open some pdf attachments on my Curve 9360.
Some pdfs are fine but our fax to email service pdfs will not open - just get a qustion mark in the file icon and when trying to open I get 'This attachment type cannot be viewed on your device'.
This is really frustrating as it means when I am away from the office and we get a fax (which comes through as a pdf attachement by email) I cannot see what it is !
The same pdf files open fine on my laptop (in outlook) and a friend has a blackberry bold and the same pdf opens fine on his bold !
I am on OS7.1 (Bundle 2494) on my Curve 9360 but I have had the problem from back since OS6.
Any suggestions guys ? Could something be missing/corrupted on my Blackberry casuing this problem ?

Anyone know of a PDF Editor for Curve 8530?

I have done some searching via my laptop, and while there are many PDF viewers, I have been unable to find a free or other version of a PDF editor (that would for instance allow me to insert UID and password in the editable field of a PDF doc) for the Curve 8530.

Support for PDF

which models of black berry phones natively support PDF or can be use to read pdf documents. Can Curve 8520 be used to read pdf documents? I has just been introduced to blackberry phones. I need some guidabce please.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
If you have BIS email, and the PDF document remains an attachment to the email message, then ALL BBs can render that PDF (the BIS service actually renders it on the BB). If the PDF is not an email attachment, then an additional app is needed to render it. Prior to BB OS 7, only the Standard Edition of the Documents To Go apps were included, which excluded the PDF component. With OS7, the Premium Edition is now included, which then includes the PDF To Go app, which can render PDFs that are detached from email messages.
For your 8520, I don't know exactly the highest OS level that has been released, but I am pretty sure it's not OS7...which means obtaining (often purchasing) a PDF 3rd party app is necessary in order to render PDFs that are not email attachments.

Looking for a cover for a Blackberry curve 3600

HI!
I Have to make a present to a young girl and she has a Blackberry curve 3600. I thougt about one of those "cases, covers"?¿? that fit the different mobiles. There are some beautiful ones but I don't find any for this model. I've even been told that the model does not exist.
Is there any modern blackberry curve model that keeps the same measures than the curve 3600.? Where can I find the case-cover?

Outlook PDF preview issue without adobe

I would like to preview PDF documents in outlook but I do not want to use the Adobe (or any other 3rd party) suite to do so.
I can open the documents in Microsoft's 'Reader' but not in the preview pane. I have looked under trust center settings and have an Outlook message and items checked but no pdf preview to check

I'm using Office 2013 along with Windows 8.1, I can confirm there is no build-in PDF previewer in Outlook 2013. It seems we have to use some plug-ins to preview PDF in Outlook.

Can I measure a "body impression" on the surface of a mattress?

Is there a sensor(s) that could measure the impression or "set" that can occur on the surface of a mattress. It would need to measure the majority of the surface (not just 1 point) and then ideally it could show a 3d volume of the impression in software.

Here is a product I found on the web that may be usefull, the Xsensor. http://www.sensorprod.com/xsensor.html
It is a resistive mesh mat with some interfacing.
You probably need more than 1 mat for you applications.
I hope the interfacing to LabVIEW/CVI/etc. is no problem. Better to contact them for details.

Samples and cylcles per buffer

Hi. I am trying to use Daqmx to generate a sine wave and the use displacement sensors to measure the oscillations of a piezo. The problem that I am having is that the output sine wave stops changing after somewhere around 2kHz. Below 2kHz everything looks good. I am using an oscilloscope to measure the output frequency. At higher frequencies the frequency remains the same for a long period and then changes instead of changing when the code tells it to change. When I measure the Q curve of the piezo I am getting a step ladder instead of a smooth curve. I believe this has something to do with my cycles per buffer and samples per buffer but I am not sure. I have included the vi and the waveform generation vi that I am using. Please let me know what I am doing wrong.

I can't look at this because your version is too new. However I have
tried to code something very similar. The problem I encountered was
this: You can only set the sampling frequency to certain values (an
integer divided into the clock frequency) and the number of samples per
cycle is obviously an integer. So you cannot sweep the frequency with
arbitrarily fine increments. indeed figuring out how to sweep it is not
trivial as it may involve changing both the number of points per cycle
AND the clock divisor.
As a start you should probably decrease the number of points per cycle.
(Note that if you set the sampling rate DAQmx will round to a legal
value if necessary. If you need to know the actual sampling rate use a
property node to read it.)

Keithley 2400 record data problem

Hi,
I use Keithley 2400 to Measure I-V curve, at a sweep mode, like scan the V from 0 to 0.2 V, at low NPLC(eg. 0.1), the data can be recorded very successful and save to data.txt. But when I increase the NPLC (eg. 5 or 10,), this vi usually cause some problem. When the scan votage reach the 0.2 V, the keithley display panel stops at 0.2V and shows this current, the VI still shows at working, and no data recorded in the data.txt. In the correct process, Keithley display panel shoud show the "OFF" and the VI also stop working, and the data recorder correctly. Could some one help me out of this? Thank you very much.
