Arabic data display

Hi,
We use translatable valueset for capturing positions.
Values both english and arabic have been entered for this translatable valueset.
Positions have been created in the positions window using this valueset.
One position has been assigned for an employee.
When we change the arabic value from old value to new value in the valueset, the new value is not reflecting in the assignment screen.
Kindly advise us.
Regards
Murugan

Hi Hussein,
Your Question:
What is the application release? What is the database version and characterset?
Ans:
R12 (12.0.6)
Has this ever worked?
Ans:
If we requery the position and edit some data and save, then the arabic value is getting reflected in the assignment screen.
Is the issue with this form only?
Ans:
Job and Position screens.
Your Question:
Does this mean it keeps the old value? Can you reproduce the issue if you login to the English interface and use English characters?
Ans:
Yes. It keeps the old value (old value is getting displayed)
Regards
Murugan

  • Arabic data garbage STG database

I migrate data from ODS database to STG database ,but arabic data displayed to target as ??????????????????????????
I need help please my friends

Ok, I'll write equally condensed as you (as this is a FAQ, and it always boils down to people not reading documentation)
Somehow, somewhere there is a mismatch between the client NLS_LANG, the characterset of the export, and the characterset of the target database.
As you couldn't be bothered to include any of them in your post, a more accurate answer is impossible.

  • Arabic data from Sybase database fails to display correctly in Crystal Reports XI

    Post Author: shajad
    CA Forum: Crystal Reports
In Crystal Reports XI, reports created with a ODBC (SQL server) connection to a Sybase data source fails to show Arabic data correctly. Arabic data is stored in Sybase under character set Windows-1256, but fails to display as Arabic in Crystal Reports 10. Some junk values like 'ÕæÑÉÇáÓÌá ÇáÊÌÇÑí ÓÇÑíÉÇáãÝÚæá'  appears in the report.
How can I resolve this issue? Please help me with a solution.

    Hi Raju
Please let us know the following information:
    - Exact version of Crystal Reports.
    - The type and the version of the database.
    - Connection i.e. ODBC, OLEDB or Native used to connect your database with Crystal Reports.
    - Are you able to create and refresh newly created report using the same database?
    - If you are using ODBC connection, please download the SQLCON32 test utility and try to fetch the data from the database using the query from the "Show SQL" from Crystal Reports and let us know the outcome.
    Hope this helps!

  • Date display problem "Arabic"

I am currently facing a problem related to date display as the date is being displayed in the following format:
     01, 2007
I have checked the Locale and it was en_US.
Can someone help me out so that the format that I get is the following:
    Sept 01, 2007
    Thanks

What code are you using to format the date?

  • Data display grid font selection

Does anyone know how to change the font that's used on the "Data" tab when displaying the content of rows in a table?
I'm trying to view chinese characters which are stored in UTF-8 unicode in the database. I have all the necessary fonts loaded on my machine and the correct NLS_LANG settings.
I can see western characters, arabic, russian, greek OK in the data-grid, but not chinese or other far-eastern languages. Instead I see little squares instead of the symbols.
I've checked for font setting in Tools -> Preferences but the only setting I can find is under the "Code Editor" section. This is set correctly (to Arial Unicode MS) and if I copy the "little squares" from the data grid and paste them into a code-edit tab I see the characters correctly displayed.
So it seems that the "Font" setting for the code-edit tabs isn't used by the data-display tabs.
Is there a way of making both code-editor window and data-display tab use the same font?

i would create a standard report.
i presume the air pressure and humidity are from one field? if not create a formula to display that.
    create groups
1- a/p humidity field or formula
    2- time
    3- ref-measure- error
not sure if they are the same field or different.
you can then place your data in the groups (formulas calcs etc)
then underlay the groups so they appear on the same line
    then draw boxes around them.
    hope this helps

  • XML Publisher Arabic Report Display and missing header problem

    Hi All
We are in apps. 11.5.9 with English and Arabic language support.Even though we have all our data and reports in English we are in need of an Arabic Invoice report.
Since Titles cannot be typed in oracle report builder we decided to build the report in Xml Publisher.
Every thing is done to run the report in xml publisher but we face two probles in the final xml output.
Problem1. Header and footer are not displaying in the report.
Problem2. Arabic characters are not displaying properly in the report.
Here what ever titles we gave in Arabic are displaying good.
If I save the xml file and load it in the templete and view output shows the correct arabic wordings.
But when during taking the output directly from apps. then the problem comes. The Arabic fonts are not dispaying correctly.
    Any Idea about this.
If any one come across this issue please mail me at [email protected]

Try to load the arabic fonts into XML Publisher Admin. Check Tim's blog for more info (http://blogs.oracle.com/xmlpublisher/2006/06/how_to_install_a_font_using_xm.html)

I am not sure SQL*Plus in character mode can display Arabic characters on Windows. OTN NLS_LANG FAQ http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/products/globalization/nls-lang-099431.html#_Toc105389288 says:

if you are testing with "special" characters please DO use the GUI and not the "DOS box" sqlplus.exe !

SQL*Plus GUI is not available with 11G: you should use SQL Developer.

  • Report 6i Arabic Date alignment problem in Windows 7

    Hi
We have 6i Forms and Report and wanna run in windows 7. But we found arabic Date disaplay problem in reports. As you know arabic writting from right. But date display like 21/10/1431 and I wanna like 1431/10//21.
I tried from regional setting and change date format from report. but this is problem from system it self,
not accept right alignment. Even I install left to right patch (KB979643-x86).
    Please Help
    Thanks

Like others have said you need to run the bootcamp installer to install the drivers.
The time issue was a constant annoyance rebooting with OSX and my old XP bootcamp setup but it's gone with Windows 7 once you set your time to UTC format in the date and time properties instead of local time which OSX uses and XP couldn't support.

  • Arabic data shows Invalid characters

    Hi,
Arabic data is stored in 9i database having US7ASCII character set. Our vendor application is displaying data in arabic correctly but when we try to query data then we are getting characters like
    mMml aaEa_JQfdmGJ
    Regards
    Ahmer

I have tried to display data in ASP, SQLPLUS, SQL Developer & SQL Navigator. All of them are showing invalid except SQL Developer which is showing boxes.
I am only querying the data that is already present in database and vendor's application displaying correctly.
I tried with changed NLS_LANG but it did'nt works.
When I ask the application vendor, they replied me:
"Arabic Data can be viewed in Multibyte telnet clients like Putty, if UTF-8 text encoding is enabled, both in the client and Oracle. The character encoding should be set to UTF-8 only during download of data and then this can be viewed in the telnet client.
Normal single byte telnet clients cannot encode the same, and the arabic data will be shown as Junk characters. Else, the same can be spooled into a text file, opened in MS-Word with the character encoding set as UTF-8 format."
I have to generate report for wondows client.

NLS_NCHAR_CHARACTERSET is irrelevant unless you keep your Arabic data in N[VAR]CHAR columns. Moreover, AL16UTF16 supports Arabic and there is no need to change it. Please, ignore Fran's advice. On the other hand, do follow Srini's advice. The log will tell us what could have gone wrong. The most probable cause is that the 8.0.6 export was done without NLS_LANG being set to .AR8MSWIN1256. In such case, you have to set NLS_LANG correctly and re-export. Keep NLS_LANG set to .AR8MSWIN1256 at the import time as well.

  • Arabic data export to PDF from Business Object 6.5

I have Arabic data in oracle 10g database.
In Business Objects 6.5 report, am able to see the Arabic data as well.
When I save the BO report as PDF, the report data in arabic appears as ?????
I serached all the documentation and scoured the web, but could not get much info.
How can I get to display the Arabic data in PDF format as well?

    Hi!
PDF uses its proprietary fonts to generate and display the text and it displays ???? for the character which its unable to interpret from the available fonts directory. You may need to buy some language plugins from Acrobat and integrate it with you Reports Server, to enable your PDF to display Arabic Character. I had a similar problem with Barcodes dislay in PDF.

It could be a no. of problems. You are not getting the right data out of the request.
you donot have the fonts on your machine.
the jsp as somebody has mentioned is not using utf-8 encoding.
But to be sure try printing out the hex values of the String name and see if you are gettig the right hex values of are you getting 3f?
If you are getting 3f then it means that you are not able to retrieve the data correctly from the request.
You could also try doing a snoop in that case to see if the data was sent correctly.
