Arabic letters are displayed as junk character in PDF preview

When we try to view (HFR Financial reports in PDF preview Arabic letters are displayed as junk character. While the same is shown correctly in HTML view.
Oracle EPMA version we are using 11.1.1.3, please provide some solution on this issue

This could help if you are connecting to essbase or planning:
1.Set the ESSLANG environment variable on the Essbase server to
ESSLANG= Arabic - Saudi Arabia (ISO)@Binary
2. In Financial Reporting, you must use the Essbase APS ADM driver rather then the Essbase Native ADM driver. Set the driver in \Hyperion\products\biplus\lib\fr_global.properties by setting the parameter
UseEssbaseEDS=1
3. In \Hyperion\products\biplus\lib\fr.env, set the ESSLANG environment variable as follows:
ESSLANG= Arabic - Saudi Arabia (ISO)@Binary
4. Re-start the Essbase and Financial Reporting services.

  • UNICODE font displays as JUNK character in PDF version of Report 10.1.2.0.2

    Hi All,
I am using Application Server 10g on windows 2003 r2. when i generate reports through application server, it displays JUNK characters where UNICODE fonts are used.

After some trial and error, we found that a particularly badly written report was taking 10 minutes to process (it really should have only taken a few seconds). The users were getting impatient, killing the application from their terminal, and resubmitting the report, over and over and over....
We re-wrote the query in the report, and with the report processing in an acceptable time, we did not re-experience the issue.

  • Arabic characters are displaying as question marks in forms 10g

We have migrated our application from forms 6i to forms 10g and now in forms 10g the arabic characters are displaying as question marks while it displays correctly in the old application using forms 6i. I have already set the character set to AR8MSWIN1256 in the registry, but it didn't help. Somebody please help.

@ Sarah, Al-Salamu Alikum We Rahmatu Allah we Barakatu,
Sarah Habibty, why new installation ? In order to select a new suitable character set !!!
Then creating a new instance from the db is a better alternative since it saves time, effort and another back up of his current db is exist safely if needed for any purposes in the future.
    @Amer,honestly speaking...
    Modifing ur NLS_LANG to > AMERICAN_AMERICA.AR8MSWIN1256
Works for me in both Arabic and English data in 2 applications. This works in my pc.But it didn't works at my boss pc this can happened don't have any reason for that.!!!!
i spent lot's of time trying to search but what i had got is that solution i suggested by a friend of mine.
Now please could you advise me, is it better to create a new instance of database as Amatu Allah has suggested or is it better to change the character set through sql as some others have suggested? Again i suggest to select the short cut way ; to reset the character set through sql after taking a back up from ur data that is currently exist.
then retest again doing the select and test ur data input and retrieval.
    SQL> select * from v$nls_parameters
2 where parameter in ('NLS_CHARACTERSET','NLS_LANGUAGE');watching the output if it works that's fine saving ur time & effort .
if not working with the correct NLS_CHARACTERSET then use my previous solution.
    Hope this helps...

  • English letters are displaying as boxes when telugu language is selected

    Hi All,
I am working on an application for which we are providing the support for around 40 languages. I am having one issue when the application language is changed to telugu. When the user changes the application language to telugu, then the english letters in the application which are not localized (Left intentionally to be not localized) are displaying as boxes.
In my application i set the file type description for the JFileChooser as "ఫ్లాష్ (*.swf)". The telugu letters are displaying correctly but english characters such as "swf" are displaying as boxes. I tested this application on Mac, Ubuntu, Windows XP, Windows 7 operating systems. In Windows 7 and Mac operating system the above issue is not reproducible but it is reproducible in Ubuntu and Windows XP operating systems.
Please provide your valuable suggestions towards the solution for this problem.
    Thanks in advance.
    Udaya Shankara Gandhi.

    Hi All,
Thank you for all your support in achieving the solution.
Finally i got the solution for this problem with CODE2000.ttf font file. After i installed this font file in my fonts directory, english letters are displaying correclty. The reason for displaying english characters as boxes is the ttf files what i have used upto now (Gautami, Vemana2000, Pothana2000, Akshar) are not having support for English characters. But CODE2000.ttf file having the support to displying both english and telugu characters. After installing this font all the english letters are displaying correctly when language is changed to telugu.
    Fonts directories:
    c:/Windows/Fonts for Windows
    usr/share/fonts for ubuntu
serach "font book" in Finder on Mac

Do not use MS Word for Mac, it does not support Arabic.  Instead use Mellel, TextEdit, Nisus Writer or OpenOffice.  Try the font Geeza Pro if others do not work.
What are you using to read email?
What are you using to read powerpoint?

  • Arabic letters are typed reversed

    Dear All
I have been several month having this problem, when I lost hope to find the answer using search engine, I decided to ask it here in forum hopping that someone solve my problem.
I have Photoshop Middle Eastern Version CS5. When I type Arabic the letters are typed backward.
As you know arabic is typed from right to left, but in photoshop they are typed from left to right.
Everything is fine when typing on another program like notepad or MS word, but in photoshop letters are reversed,
Windows -> Character: I chose Adobe Arabic
Windows -> Paragraph is set to right align text and justification is set to arabic, eventhough arabic letter are typed backward and are not connected.
    I have windows 7

Hamdulillah I just found the solution.
I will post it here maybe someone will benefit from it.
in photoshop press on Windows -> Paragraph then follow the steps as illustrated below

  • Arabic letters are boxes

    Hi,
I have this app that loads a ResourceBundle and reads from a properties file for all of the properties that map to the GUI widgets. The GUI widgets' text are extracted from this prop file. I am having a problem with this in that when I try to display these values then some of the Arabic symbols are a box. Now I have the entire unicode chart from www.unicode.org and these are the codes that I am using. I also have jdk1.3.0_02. Could someone please help?
    Thank you,
    Jay.

    Jay-
I suspect that the font that you are using does not contain all the glyphs for the characters that you are trying to display. You could try and use another font like Bitstream Cyberbit or Arial Unicode MS. However, the issue that you run into with using external fonts not included with the Java Runtime is that now other users of your application need to have the proper font installed on their system to view the text correctly.

  • Arabic Keyboard, i have iPhone 4G but some of the Arabic letters are miss

I have an arabic language but still don't know how to change the letters and where is the shift ?? and lot of letters are missing ..please whoever ,know i wanna help..thanks

Nothing should be missing. For extra characters, try holding down the various keys. You should get a popup menu where you can select what you need. That is how these keyboards work.

  • Word files are displayed with junk

    Hello,
I am running Weblogic 6.1 SP2. It shows the word files with junk in it. How can I
    fix this problem?
    Thanks,
    Meghana

It is probably not a problem with the WebLogic server itself; I've done Word
files etc. from WL without an issue. Are you doing via FileServlet, your own
JSP, etc. Does it work from Apache? If so, use telnet to compare headers.

just have a simple link to a Word document that lives on the server. No
fancy processing or dynamic generation of the document or anything.
There is a mime mapping defined in the web application deployment
descriptor (viewed with the console tool) for "application/msword"with
a file extension of "doc" It works fine from Mozilla - click the link
and it asks if I want to save or open. But in IE 6 it just immediately
displays the file contents in the browser as if it were plain text,so
it comes out as junk. Using the same browser and clicking links toword
docs on other web servers works fine - I get the save/open dialog and
clicking open pops up Word as expected.

  • After updating to Firefox 4, Arabic letters are broken when using punctuations.

In Arabic writing, signs (''' َ ّ ً ِ ٍ ْ ُ ٌ''' ) are used as punctuations with letters. After updating to Firefox 4, a space is created after every punctuation. words become broken.

    Problem solved.
    1- Start Firefox 4 browser.
    2- Type in Address Bar : '''about:config'''
3- It will tell you : '''This might void your warranty!'''
    4- Press : '''I'll be careful, I promise!'''
    5- Type in Filter Bar : '''gfx.font_rendering.harfbuzz.level'''
    6- Change Value to '''1'''.
    7- '''Done. '''

  • Some letters are missing when I open a PDF in Firefox. Works fine in other browsers.

When I open a PDF using Firefox, some letters in words that are printed across the document are missing. I believe the creator of the document used a text box to add "Draft" on it. The D is missing. Other words I have found are "Copy Non-negotiable" and the C is missing. These same PDFs open fine in IE and Chrome. Have experienced it on V22-V25. Using Windows7

Starting in Firefox 19, PDF files will display by default in a built-in viewer. This viewer does not yet support all of the features of the Adobe viewer, and may also have some bugs. Other than changing viewers, as described in the following article, I'm not sure what to suggest.

  • PDFs are displaying in black and white in Preview

My InDesign PDF's are suddenly displaying in black and white in Apple Preview. Is anyone else having this problem?
    Thanks!
    ~EZ

    Thank you Mark : )
I did solve the problem and it only occured on one  document in which I changed the automatic bullet point color. I usually make my own bullet points, so this was a first for me.
Here is how I solved the problem:
When exporting the PDF, I chose the "Output" option and changed the "Color" to  "Convert to Destination (Preserve Numbers)". I then selected "Color Match RGB".
This worked for the problem document and it didn't happen again on other documents.
    Thanks Again!

  • Polish letters not displayed correctly in quality notification long text

    Hello,
in quality notification: when trying to write text in Polish language, some non-english letters are displayed incorectly.
I did not find possibility to change the text language as in e.g. sales order texts. Using PL as login language solves the situation if MS Word view of long text is opened but not if text displayed in notification in "SAP view". Anyway different login language is not desired solution.
    Any help is appreciated
    Thanks

Is there any possibility of upgrading?

  • Bizzare effects when letters are created via a CASE...

    CRM 5.0
Our production CRM system is periodically copied into our regression system.
Sometime in late October it was noted that all apostrophe (') characters we being replaced by hash (#) characters when any letter was produced as part of a Case run. Letters produced by a Case are displayed as PDF documents in the WebIC, where as regular letters are displayed as Word docs. Anyway, taking a particular service ticket containing a letter created via the Case run I can attempt to view it in the Regression system, but it simply will not display. However, the same letter against the same service ticket does display in the Production system, although  the Hash characters are being displayed instead of apostrophe characters.
If I a create a new letter in the Regression via a Case run it produces a letter which displays apostrophe's perfectly. But any new letters created in the same way within the Production system still show hashes in the letters.
To me it sounds like an OSS note has been applied to Production but not to Regression, however, if that were true QAS and Development would have the same problem as the OSS Notes would have to first be tested in them, but both QA and DEV displapostrophe's fine the Case letters.
I should add that any e-mails created as part of the same CASE run are sent out perfectly in both our production and regression environment so the problem only seems to affect letters. I was wondering if maybe the default printer settings might affect this in some way as I'm sure that when HTML is output by Smartforms it problems uses an alternative printer, maybe.
Has anyone encountered anything like this before?.

It would seem that the two senior agents do not have the right authority and this is somehow affecting the Case letters. We know this as other agents have produced Case letters and the apostrophe's have been displayed in the letters.
